  Say I have an xml document on a webserver (www.example.com/example.xml). On my main page, if I would like to retrieve that document as a string, how can I do this? I tried xmlhttprequest - maybe I'm using it wrong? It returns it as "undefined."   Can anyone tell me why the document ready function needs a call to function first please? • Need help on Coda slider tabs to move inside an overflow:hidden div

  I'm not too good at javascript. and hope I can get a bit of help. I'm using Coda Slider 2.0, and have designed it to where the tabs are another slider to the right of the main slider, and each item. Basically like this mootools plugin http://landofcoder.com/demo/mootool/lofslidernews/index2.1.html Problem is the items will not scroll. How do I make the items (or tabs to the right) scroll down as the slider rotates? Otherwise the slider will show the 4th slide but not scroll to the 4th item on the right, but Thanks everyone. • Jquery - intercept links created by ajax request

  Hi, I have some jquery code that intercepts links clicked on a page : $(document).ready(function() { $("a").click(function() { //do something here }); }); My problem is there are certain parts of the page that have not finished loading on document ready. They are populated via ajax calls. The links in these sections are not intercepted by my jQuery function above. I need the function to be run on document ready initially but then I need the new links to also have the same logic applied to them. Any help would be very much appreciated. This is an area that I am very unfamiliar with. I have written the jQuery stuff but the ajax code is an external component that I have no control over. Thanks in advance

There are times when individuals ask me about Small or Medium sized business trends.  Interestingly,  the Enterprise Social, Mobile, and Sensor initiatives I regularly discuss are in fact related to even the Mom and Pop storefront. The eco-system of new service players in the Social-Mobile-Sensor space generally emerge developing partnerships with enterprises as they develop and bring economy to scale to their services for the larger market. And of course Oracle has an entire division dedicated for delivering products and support to help emerging companies compete without the need to open an industrial strength credit line.. So here are some trends that we are helping large enterprises to deploy today, but small and medium businesses should be able to take advantage of by the end of this year and starting into 2015. 1) The typical small business is generally "Localized". But the ability to be "Hyper-Localized" will come as location based services become ubiquitous. Many small businesses have one or several storefronts and theirs are typically within a single regional economic footprint. While the internet provides global reach, it will be the businesses that invest in social, mobile and local that will win in the end.  Of course I am a huge SoMoLo evangelist. The SMBs' content and targeting with platforms for Geo-Fencing, Geo-Conquesting and Path-Matching to HHI are all going to be accessible to them, if not for Mobile Apps, then via Mobile messaging in Social Networks that offer it.. Expect to be able to target FaceBook messaging not by city, but by store or mall… This makes being able to be "Hyper-Local" even more important. And with new proximity services coming online more than ever before, SMBs will operate and service customers with pinpoint accuracy right down to where they stand in an aisle. Geo-Conquesting will be huge for small players to place ads when customers pass through competitors regions. Car Dealers are doing this now.. But also of course iBeacons are now very cheap and getting easier to put in retail stores. The ability for sales to happen anywhere in the store via a mobile phone or tablet is huge, as it will give the small shop the flexibility to not have to "Guard the Register" as more or most transactions will be digital. Thus, M-Commerce and T-Commerce will change the job of cashier dramatically.. 2) Intra-Brand Advocacy, the idea now is that rather than just depend on your trusty social media manager and his team, you are going to push more and more individuals with expertise inside the organization to help manage, reach-out, and utilize social channels to manage the incoming questions and answers customers need. While for years CRM was the tool of the enterprise, today CRMs enable this now "Salesforce et al" capability to trickle throughout the company. This gives greater pressure to organize roles, but also flatten out the organization. Internal collaboration around topics and customer needs is going to be the key for SMBs to finally get serious about customer experiences. Their customers are online and in social networks. This includes not just B2C SMBs but also B2B companies as well. Don't believe me? Players from SoundCloud to Pinterest are deploying ways for brands to harness their interactive visual or audio based social networks to sell ad units aka brand messaging. • Changing content of HTMLDocument displayed in a JTextPane

  I'm displaying some tables as HTML code (rendered by a Freemarker template) with a JTextPane. I also have some HTML links in this HTML output which can be used to interact with the values of the table (For example "Delete a row" and stuff like this). Currently I always recreate the whole HTML output on each change and replace the whole document in the JTextPane with the new one. This is getting really slow and the JTextPane always changes the scroll position when I do this. Is it possible to change only parts of the HTML code during runtime without replacing the whole document? In a real browser I would use the DOM and do something like document.getElementById("price").innerHTML = "$123.44". Is something like that possible with the HTMLDocument in a JTextPane?

• CSS class equivalent for LaTeX

  I am trying to figure out if there is a way to apply the CSS methodology to the LaTeX template I am building. What I would like to do is to have a set of classes that apply a specific style treatment to the bracketed words. For example: If I have three paragraphs of text, I want to have all of the paragraphs have [0.5cm] of spacing after the last line without having to add \\[0.5cm] after each paragraph. Is there a LaTeX equivalent of defining the treatment for all paragraphs in the preamble so that it cascades throughout my document? The equivalent of: <style> p {padding-bottom:0.5cm} </style> I want to be able to specify multiple version of these CSS-like LaTeX classes throughout my document, so I don't need a specific solution. I need help understanding how to add custom labels/names/classes to the preamble and an example of how to use them in the document itself. Thanks! Ryan

  Hey all, I was wondering if anyone has any idea how I can add Content Controls to a Word Document (Office 2007) from the Document Task/Action Pane via C#. The goal is the following: I want to have categorized information in the Task/Action Pane and have the user fill out the info there. Once they have filled out that information they'll click on a button and it will insert content Controls into the Word Document that has that Data. The reason I want to use Content Controls is because the data will be bound to a database. Is this possible? I would like links that do this without WordProcessingML or OpenXML. There has to be a way to do this via server side code and such that doesn't require long blocks of ,, etc. Thanks!

  I've got a function I wrote quite some time ago that works fine, but I'd like to speed up the process and lessen server load by doing the same job in Javascript. I seem to be able to GET textbox values ok, but I can't seem to SET textbox values (I'm'-a JS noob). Can anyone lend a hand in converting my VB.NET code to it's JS equivalent? • Unable to add a row to a HTML table dynamically

  I am unable to add a row to a HTML table dynamically. I am using IHtmlDocument2 to create tr and td elements and IHtmlElement to set attributes and IHtmlDomNode to add created node to the document hierarchy. Please anyone help me to solve the above problem. I am traversing through the document when I get the tr tag I have created the tr element using CreateElement, then I use InsertBefore to insert it into the document but it's not working. I've tried for one week but didn't get anything working.

• Is it possible to "intercept" a 3rd party library's "WriteFile" operation

  This is likely a long shot, but I thought I'd ask anyway. I'm using a document management system's API. They provide a "WriteFile" method to save a given document to disk. However, the library does not have a way to simply read a document into memory. My only option, it seems, is to write to disk, then read it back in again. I'm wondering if there is a better way to work around this obvious limitation. Thanks in advance!

• Why is the event object different coming from jquery bind vs. addEventListener

  Why is it when I use the jQuery bind the event object I get back is different from the event object I get back using addEventListener? The event object resulting from this jQuery bind does not have the targetTouches array (among other things) but the event from the addEventListener does. • Weird Workflow Behavior in Sharepoint 2007

  I have a Document Library A and a list B. When a document added to A, an item is created in B with the Title = A.Url. Another workflow runs whenever a document is updated in A which makes a lookup: B.Title = A.Url, and changes another column in B in found item. Item Change Workflow always gives "Error Occurred: List item is not found". I modified the workflow to send me an e-mail containing the new (but unchanged) A.Url. It sent me the exact string with the one already in list B. Anyways, why it can't find the item when the two columns are equal? Thanks in advance. Edit I literally hate Microsoft Sharepoint.

• Problems with XAML WPF 4.0 Editor in VS2010

  Wondering if anybody else has found some very odd behaviour with the XAML/WPF 4 editor in VS2010. This only occurs if the project is using .NET 4. Whenever I tried to open a XAML document for editing, the window would appear to open for a split second and then vanish, but VS2010 would still list the window as open. The fault was eventually traced to having the "Reuse current document window, if saved" option under "Documents" in the "Environment" options checked. Once this was unchecked XAML 4 files opened as expected. As I said, this only appears to occur on projects targeted at .NET Framework 4 - those targeted at 3.5 worked without a problem, and the "Reuse current document window, if saved" appears to work fine on other files.

  I have an html document, and I want to pull the tables out of this document and return them as arrays. I'm picturing 2 functions, one that finds all the html tables in a document, and a second one that turns html tables into 2-dimensional arrays. Something like this: htmltables = get_tables(htmldocument) for table in htmltables: array=make_array(table) There's 2 catches: 1. The number tables varies day to day 2. The tables have all kinds of weird extra formatting, like bold and blink tags, randomly thrown in. Thanks!
