  • c# Unit Test: Writing to Settings in unit test does not save values in user.config

    I am running a c# unit test (VS 2008). Within the test I do write to the settings, which should result in saving the data to the user.config. Settings.Default.X = "History"; // X is string Settings.Default.Save(); But this simply does not create the file (I have crosschecked under "C:\Documents and Settings\HW\Local Settings\Application Data"). If I create the same stuff as a Console application, there is no problem persisting the data (same code). Is there something special I need to consider doing this in a UnitTest?

  • ASP.NET MVC unit test controller with HttpContext

    I am trying to write a unit test for my one controller to verify if a view was returned properly, but this controller has a basecontroller that accesses the HttpContext.Current.Session. Everytime I create a new instance of my controller is calls the basecontroller constructor and the test fails with a null pointer exception on the HttpContext.Current.Session.     If my Perl code has a production code location and "beta" code location (e.g. production Perl code us in /usr/code/scripts, BETA Perl code is in /usr/code/beta/scripts; production Perl libraries are in /usr/code/lib/perl and BETA versions of those libraries are in /usr/code/beta/lib/perl, is there an easy way for me to achieve such a setup? The exact requirements are: The code must be THE SAME in production and BETA location. To clarify, to promote any code (library or script) from BETA to production, the ONLY thing which needs to happen is literally issuing cp command from BETA to prod location - both the file name AND file contents must remain identical. BETA versions of scripts must call other BETA scripts and BETA libraries (if exist) or production libraries (if BETA libraries do not exist) The code paths must be the same between BETA and production with the exception of base directory (/usr/code/ vs /usr/code/beta/) I will present how we solved the problem as an answer to this question, but I'd like to know if there's a better way.

  • Bad linking in Qt unit test -- missing the link to the moc file?

    I'm trying to unit test a class that inherits QObject; the class itself is located up one level in my directory structure. When I build the unit test I get the standard unresolved errors if a class' MOC file cannot be found: test.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "public: virtual void * __thiscall UnitToTest::qt_metacast(char const *)" (?qt_metacast@UnitToTest@@UAEPAXPBD@Z) + 2 missing functions The MOC file is created but appears to not be linking. I've been poking around SO, the web, and Qt's docs for quite a while and have hit a wall.   • Unable to Mange DNS via MMC

    When trying to access the DNS service on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 (Build 3790) domain controller/schema master via the MMC DNS snap in or locally via the DNS MMC from Administrative tools I'm getting a red "X" through the icon for the DNS Server. The inability to access DNS management via MMC happens on all domain controllers as well. We've looked at items such as the DHCP client not being started, incorrect DNS setup ( the machine points at itself and another DC ), the DNS service not running ( it is and all DNS queries via NSLOOKUP work correctly ), dslint returns the correct information and functions as expected. There is the following entry in the DNS event log: The DNS server could not initialize the remote procedure call (RPC) service. If it is not running, start the RPC service or reboot the computer. The event data is the error code. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. 0000: 0000051b dnscmd fails with RPC server unavailable yet RPC is started: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.DOMAIN>dnscmd /Info Info query failed status = 1722 (0x000006ba) Command failed: RPC_S_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE 1722 (000006ba) DCDIAG /TEST:DNS /V /E produces the following errors: Warning: no DNS RPC connectivity (error or non Microsoft DNS server is running) [Error details: 1753 (Type: Win32 - Description: There are no more endpoints available from the endpoint mapper.)] Warning: no DNS RPC connectivity (error or non Microsoft DNS server is running) [Error details: 1722 (Type: Win32 - Description: The RPC server is unavailable.)] The DNS server could not initialize the remote procedure call (RPC) service.   • Using Selenium, how can I test a web UI that returns XML instead of HTML?

    I'm using Selenium to unit test my Perl cgi script and all works fine except in one case where my cgi script returns XML content to the web browser instead of returning HTML content. I'm new to Selenium and only pasted in their sample script to get started, but I can't seem to find a Selenium command in any of the documentation that will recognize that my XML response has been returned. The Selenium commands seem to assume that an HTML page is always being returned.

    Hi, In our project we are consuming WCF webservices exposed at Central location as services with basicHttpBinding. In client desktop application we need consume those webservices. I am able to generate proxy class using WSDL.exe. But, I need to convert data/class given by the webservice into my local class, for that now I am xmlserialzing those class/objects given by webservice and deserializing into my local classes as both classes schema matches exactly same.     Is there a way to modularize JMeter tests. I have recorded several use cases for our application. Each of them is in a separate thread group in the same test plan. To control the workflow I wrote some primitives (e.g. postprocessor elements) that are used in many of these thread groups. Is there a way not to copy these elements into each thread group but to use some kind of referencing within the same test plan? What would also be helpful is a way to reference elements from a different file. Does anybody have any solutions or workarounds. I guess I am not the only one trying to follow the DRY principle...

  • Occasional Date or timezone discrepancy in hudson or maven with jodatime

    hi, I hope following explanation will make sense because it's a weird problem we're facing and hard to describe. We have a maven project which gets build in hudson and that contains some unit tests where dates are used and asserted. The hudson server runs on solaris. Now, occasionally (like 30% of the times) the unit tests using dates fail because 3,5 hours are deducted from the specified time in the unit test and hence asserts start failing. The other 70% everything works fine although nothing at all changed in the code and we run the hudson job several times an hour. I add following code to a unittest to check the time: @Test public void testDate() { System.out.println("new DateMidnight(2011, 1, 5).toDate();"); System.out.println(new DateMidnight(2011, 1, 5).toDate()); System.out.println(new DateMidnight(2011, 1, 5).toDate().getTime()); Calendar cal = Calendar.getInstance(); cal.set(Calendar.YEAR, 2011); cal.set(Calendar.MONTH, 0); cal.set(Calendar.DAY_OF_MONTH, 5); cal.set(Calendar.HOUR, 0); cal.set(Calendar.MINUTE, 0); cal.set(Calendar.SECOND, 0); cal.set(Calendar.MILLISECOND, 0); System.out.println("cal.getTime();"); System.out.println(cal.getTime()); System.out.println(cal.getTime().getTime()); } So basically it should print the same thing when using jodatime or plain old Calendar. This is the case in 70% of the runs; for the other 30% I get following printouts: Running TestSuite new DateMidnight(2011, 1, 5).toDate(); Tue Jan 04 21:30:00 MET 2011 1294173000000 cal.getTime(); Wed Jan 05 12:00:00 MET 2011 1294225200000 Local maven tests never appear the pose this problem and we can't figure out what could be the cause of it. Especially, we can't think of a single reason why the tests sometimes pass and sometimes fail without changing any code nor hudson or server setting. Also, we run the maven install with cobertura which means that the unit tests are run twice. It happens also that they pass the first time and fail the second time or the other way around or that they fail both times. Thanks for any help, Stijn

Even though all the tests pass, when I do have errors its harder to scan them because of this output. is there a nice way to silence it?

    I have a module called MyApp, and another module called MyAppTests which has a dependency on MyApp. Both modules produce APKs, one named MyApp.apk and the other MyAppTests.apk. I normally build these in IntelliJ or Eclipse, but I'd like to create an ant buildfile for them for the purpose of continuous integration. I used "android update" to create a buildfile for MyApp, and thanks to commonsware's answer to my previous question I've been able to build it successfully using ant. I'd now like to build MyAppTests.apk using ant. I constructed the buildfile as before using "android update", but when I run it I get an error indicating that it's not finding any of the classes in MyApp. Taking a que from my previous question, I tried putting MyApp.apk into my MyAppTests/libs, but unfortunately that didn't miraculously solve the problem.
