• Is there a declarative language for data definitions?

    - by Jekke
Reading about WPF and thinking about my application's data store at the same time led me to wonder if there are any languages or tools that allow you to define relational data in a declarative way? A shallow Google search suggests no such thing exists. Yet it seems so obviously useful. The kind of tool I have in mind would declaratively describe (at least) entities, relationships and views is a platform-agnostic way that would act as an abstraction layer between data-driven applications and their datastores. Does any such tool exist?

  • How can I highlight the corresponding titles of clicked links?

    - by danielle
I'm writing an XSL file that contains a side-nav menu with a list of links. When the user clicks on one of the links, the page jumps to the corresponding table of information for that link. How can I make it so that when the link is clicked, the title of that table (not the link itself) is highlighted? It should also un-highlight if another link is clicked. Here is the menu of links:
  <xsl:value-of select = "."/> (<xsl:value-of select = "count(../n1:entry)"/>)
This is the javascript for the highlight/undoHighlight functions: function highlight(link) { undoHighlight(link) link.style.background = "red"; } function undoHighlight(link) { link.style.background = "white"; } Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

  • How can I use an Ant foreach iteration with values from a file?

    - by Egon Willighagen
In our Ant build environment, I have to do the same task for a number of items. The AntContrib foreach task is useful for that. However, the list is in a parameter, where I actually have the list in a file. How can I iterate over items in a file in an foreach-like way in Ant? Something like (pseudo-code): <foreach target="compile-module" listFromFile="$fileWithModules"/> I'm happy to write a custom Task, and welcome any suggestion on possible solutions.

    - by Jon Todd
I have a project A which has a dependency X. Dependency X has an optional dependency Y which doens't get included in A by default. Is there a way to include Y in my POM without explicitly including it? In Ivy they have a way to essentailly say include all optional dependencies of X, does Maven have a way to do this?

  • iPad/iPhone: Form filling application pointers

    - by raj.tiwari
Folks, I am starting work on an iPad/iPhone application that is essentially a form-filing UI. The requirement is to present a (rather large) form to the user. The form is composed of sections and questions, like so: Form Question 0.1 Question 0.2 Section 1 Question 1.1 etc. The user can take various paths down the form based on answers to questions. I would like to architect this by defining a declarative markup that can be used to author the form questionnaire including traversal rules. My questions are: Can anyone recommend a markup/language that would satisfy the declaration requirement? Is there any existing library that would ease the implementation as described above? Thanks for your time.

  • XDocument holding onto Memory?

    - by Jon
I have an appplication that does a XDocument.Load from a 20mb file and then gets passed to a form to view its contents: openFileDialog1.FileName = ""; if (openFileDialog1.ShowDialog() == DialogResult.OK) { AuditFile = XDocument.Load(openFileDialog1.FileName); fmAuditLogViewer AuditViewer = new fmAuditLogViewer(); AuditViewer.ReportDocument = AuditFile; AuditViewer.Init(); AuditViewer.ShowDialog(); AuditViewer.Dispose(); AuditFile.RemoveNodes(); AuditFile = null; } In Task Manager I can see the memory being used by my application shoot up when I open this file. When I have finished viewing this file in my application I call : myXDocument.RemoveNodes(); myXDocument = null; However the memory use in Task Manager is still pretty high against my app. Is the XDocument still being held in memory and can I decrease the memory usage by my app?

    - by Andy
    I'm trying to serve a pdf file from a database in ASP.NET using an Http Handler, but every time I go to the page I get an error XML Parsing Error: no element found Location: https://ucc489/rc/NoteFileHandler.ashx?noteId=1,msdsId=3 Line Number 1, Column 1: ^ Here is my HttpHandler code: public class NoteFileHandler : IHttpHandler { public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) { if (context.Request.QueryString.HasKeys()) { if (context.Request.QueryString["noteId"] != null && context.Request.QueryString["msdsId"] != null) { string nId = context.Request.QueryString["noteId"]; string mId = context.Request.QueryString["msdsId"]; DataTable noteFileDt = App_Models.Notes.GetNoteFile(nId, mId); if (noteFileDt.Rows.Count > 0) { try { context.Response.Clear(); context.Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment;filename=" + noteFileDt.Rows[0][0] + ".pdf"); context.Response.ContentType = "application/pdf"; byte[] file = (byte[])noteFileDt.Rows[0][1]; context.Response.BinaryWrite(file); context.Response.End(); } catch { context.Response.ContentType = "text/plain"; context.Response.Write("File Not Found"); context.Response.StatusCode = 404; } } } } } public bool IsReusable { get { return false; } } } Is there anything else I need to do (server configuration/whatever) to get my pdf file to load?

  • Processing RSS/RDF via xml.dom.minidom

    - by Bill
I'm trying to process a delicious rss feed via python. Here's a sample: ...

WebList - The Place To Find The Best List On The Web

...

Thumboo! Free Website Thumbnails and PHP Script to Generate Web Screenshots

... The relevant code is: def getText(nodelist): rc = "" for node in nodelist: if node.nodeType == node.TEXT_NODE: rc = rc + node.data return rc dom = xml.dom.minidom.parse(file) items = dom.getElementsByTagName("item") for i in items: title = i.getElementsByTagName("title") print getText(title) I would think this would print out each title, but instead I get basically get blank output. I'm sure I'm doing something stupid wrong, but no idea what?

  • How to decode a html string using xslt

    - by John ClearZ
I am trying to style an rss feed using xslt. I want to display an image that is stored in the tag on the feed. The problem is it is encoded to display as text on the page instead of being rendered. The following is an example of part of the string. 1).
<img src="http://buavhw.blu.livefilestore.com/y1ppCokLxFJSG2cmyPdvg... I had to add extra coding to the string above to get it to appear properly here. The string below is how it appears when I paste it directly into the text box. 2).
<img src="http://buavhw.blu.livefilestore.com/y1ppCokLxFJSG2cmyPdvg... If I copy and paste it again from the preview window it only then becomes the following string. 3).
<img src="http://buavhw.blu.livefilestore.com/y1ppCokLxFJSG2cmyPdvg...

  • Nservicebus serization issue of derived types

    - by Tiju John
Hi Guys, for the context setting, I am exchanging messages between my nServiceBus client and nSerivceBus server. its is the namespace xyz.Messages and and a class, Message : IMessage I have more messages that are in the other dlls, like xyz.Messages.Domain1, xyz.Messages.Domain2, xyz.Messages.Domain3. and messages that derive form that base message, Message. I have the endpoints defined as like : at client <UnicastBusConfig> <MessageEndpointMappings> <add Messages="xyz.Messages" Endpoint="xyzServerQueue" /> <add Messages="xyz.Messages.Domain1" Endpoint="xyzServerQueue" /> <add Messages="xyz.Messages.Domain2" Endpoint="xyzServerQueue" /> </MessageEndpointMappings> </UnicastBusConfig> at Server <UnicastBusConfig> <MessageEndpointMappings> <add Messages="xyz.Messages" Endpoint="xyzClientQueue" /> <add Messages="xyz.Messages.Domain1" Endpoint="xyzClientQueue" /> <add Messages="xyz.Messages.Domain2" Endpoint="xyzClientQueue" /> </MessageEndpointMappings> </UnicastBusConfig> and the bus initialized as IBus serviceBus = Configure.With() .SpringBuilder() .XmlSerializer() .MsmqTransport() .UnicastBus() .LoadMessageHandlers() .CreateBus() .Start(); now when i try sending instance of Message type or any type derived types of Message, it successfully sends the message over and at the server, i get the proper type. eg. Message message= new Message(); Bus.Send(message); // works fine, transfers Message type message = new MessageDerived1(); Bus.Send(message); // works fine, transfers MessageDerived1 type message = new MessageDerived2(); Bus.Send(message); // works fine, transfers MessageDerived2 type My problem arises when any type, say MessageDerived1, contains a member variable of type Message, and when i assign it to a derived type, the type is not properly transferred over the wire. It transfers only as Message type, not the derived type. public class MessageDerived2 : Message { public Message message; } MessageDerived2 messageDerived2= new MessageDerived2(); messageDerived2.message = new MessageDerived1(); message = messageDerived2; Bus.Send(message); // incorrect behaviour, transfers MessageDerived2 correctly, but looses type of MessageDerived2.Message (it deserializes as Message type, instead of MessageDerived1) any help is strongly appreciated. Thanks TJ

  • How to get a html elements with python lxml

    - by Damiano
Hello! I have this html code:

aaa

bbb

ccc

ddd

eee

fff

ggg

hhh

I use this Python code to extract all
with lxml module. import urllib2 import lxml.html code = urllib.urlopen("http://www.example.com/page.html").read() html = lxml.html.fromstring(code) result = html.xpath('//td[@class="test"][position() = 1 or position() = 4]') It works good! The result is:
aaa

ddd

eee

hhh
(so the first and the fourth column of each
) Now, I have to extract: aaa (the title of the link) ddd (text between tag) eee (the title of the link) hhh (text between tag) How could I extract these values? (the problem is that I have to remove tag and get the title of the anchor on the first column and remove tag on the forth column) Thank you!

  • How to group items by date range in XSLT?

    - by glenatron
I have a bunch of data that looks a little like this:
<colour>Red</colour> <date_created>2009-10-10 12:01:55</date_created> <date_sold>2009-10-20 22:32:12</date_sold>

<colour>Blue</colour> <date_created>2009-11-01 13:21:00</date_created> <date_sold>2009-11-21 12:32:12</date_sold>

<colour>Blue</colour> <date_created>2009-10-29 21:23:02</date_created> <date_sold>2009-10-20 02:02:22</date_sold>

<colour>Red</colour> <date_created>2009-11-02 09:11:51</date_created> <date_sold>2009-11-20 09:15:53</date_sold>

<colour>Red</colour> <date_created>2009-10-18 11:00:55</date_created> <date_sold>2009-10-20 11:12:22</date_sold>
Now what I would like to be able to do is to run that through an XSLT stylesheet such that I get ouput looking like this: Colour | In stock 1 week | In stock 2 weeks | In stock 3 weeks Red | 1 | 3 | 2 Blue | 0 | 2 | 1 Currently I have a stylesheet that uses basic muenchian grouping to show that 30% of stock was Red and 70% blue, but I can't see a way to find the number of nodes withing a given date range. Is there a way to use keys to select a range? Do I need to create some kind of intermediate data node? Is there a different route that shows I'm barking up the wrong tree with both those suggestions? Is this even possible with XSLT or do I need to find a way to change the data source?
