• Multiple Java EE Agents on Single Managed Server

  A default JEE agent is created when you create domain, which is named as OracleDIAgent. 1. In Studio, duplicate the agent, change its name to genAgent, change the web application context to genagent. 2: Go to datasource of genAgent, drop all datasources.3: Generate server template. put the jar file under odi\common\templates\wls 4: Deploy this template by update the existing domain. Bring up the config.cmd, choose update existing domain. 5: Update the domain using the template that just generated. Go through the Configuration wizard. (I did not modify anything or configure anything here). 6: The wizard will give information says the deployment was successful. 7: Bring up the admin server and ODI_server1.

What guides or lists can/should I use to evaluate this website before I begin adding features, creating new projects, or even redesigning and redeveloping the site? (I have been a webmaster/designer/developer for small, WordPress/Drupal sites for 10 years. I have been an unofficial webmaster (director/content manager) for a large site for 3 years (no direct development control over Sharepoint administration, IIS, or hosting ... but everything else, I did. This means, I find myself frequently RDP’ing to Windows Machines from my Mac. And yes, that Metro UI on RDP is even more frustrating than it is without RDP. Mac is a different OS than Windows (duh!), and the way it handles multiple screens and spaces is entirely different from windows. This means, RDP experiences are tough to make 100% seamless. • Decent FREE Web Based FTP Alternatives?

  Like the subject mentions, I'm looking for a free FTP Alternative that's web based. What I need is the ability to grant people like our marketing team the ability to upload marketing images and instantly have those images show up in ourdomain.com/images/newimage.jpg. I have found plenty of excellent file sharing programs that are essentially drop box and sharepoint alternatives but have yet to find an FTP Alternative. Also ideally multiple account authentication would be great. If anyone is familiar with cPanel I'm essentially looking for their File Manager or something very similar to it (obviously stand alone and preferably free). Does anybody know if anything like this exists?

• Term for Production Rollback

  The firm I work at keeps a copy of the compiled source code on production. So basically on our Production server, we have two folders: ProductionServer\SourceCode\ ProductionServer\SourceCodeRollback\ The Rollback folder always contains one version older code. This is done so that on deployment nights, if something is wrong with the new code, the deployer(who is not familiar with source control software) has the older version to revert back to. My question is: Is there an official computer science term/nomenclature for the Rollback folder? Or is "Rollback" itself the official term?

  I was trying to install a new WSS v3 Sharepoint on a 64 bit Windows 2003 server today but the installation was giving some error saying i would need to allow ASP.NET 2.0 in the web server extension in IIS.  Looking at the IIS there was a ASP.NET 2.0 32 bit allowed but not for a 64 bit. I tried registering the aspnet_regiis but no luck by doing so: For the 32 bit verison %SYSTEMROOT%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_regiis.exe -i For the 64bit version %SYSTEMROOT%\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\aspnet_regiis.exe -i I get the error "The error indicates that IIS is in 32 bit mode, while this application is a 64 b it application and thus not compatible." The difference is the \Framework64 folders So my next guess was to find a way to disable the 32 bit and then allow the 64 bit version. And luckily enough i found this link    MS to the rescue So just ran : cscript %SYSTEMDRIVE%\inetpub\adminscripts\adsutil.vbs SET W3SVC/AppPools/Enable32bitAppOnWin64 0 and the registered the %SYSTEMROOT%\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\aspnet_regiis.exe -i and that was it

• MSM Merge Modules in Visual Studio 2013 [on hold]

  Could someone please let me know where I might find resources for creating MSM files? While I am able to create MSI files using InstallShield, it seems that Visual Studio no longer supports Merge Module Projects, judging by the link below and the screenshot of my version of Visual Studio 2013 - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/z6z02ts5(v=vs.80).aspx To create a new merge module project: On the File menu, point to Add, then click New Project. In the resulting Add New Project dialog box, in the Project types pane, open the Other Project Types node and select Setup and Deployment Projects. In the Templates pane, choose Merge Module Project.

• GlassFish 4.0 Virtualization Progress - VirtualBox

  Wouldn't it be nice if you could spawn GlassFish instances as VirtualBox virtual machines? Well now with early versions of GlassFish 4.0 you can! This page on the GlassFish Wiki documents the steps to get this to work. It walks you through the various VirtualBox (network and services) and GlassFish configuration steps including the creation of VDI templates (typically JeOS images) to finally create a virtual machine on the fly, as part of the typical GlassFish deployment process. The more general virtualization support in GlassFish is discussed in this other Wiki page. Earlier demonstrations of GlassFish.next prototypes or early milestone builds showed support for KVM, "laptop mode" and OVM as well as community involvement from Serli, speaking of which this slide-deck is a good summary of what we're trying to achieve in the GlassFish 4.0 IMS (IaaS Management Service).

• $ON_USER returning root instead of $USER

  Hello everybody! With Natty coming out soon, I've been at work updating my deployment and self-config script to make my desktop on 11.04 run and look the way I want it to. One bummer is that dbus seems to have changed and does not permit, in the same manner Lucid and Maverick did, the authentication of the current user by terminal call using grep and cat. Ideally, to run the script, I would sudo -s and then launch it as # chmod +x install && ./install Instead of returning my user name.. it now returns root and applies changes to the root profile and aborts whenever paths do not correspond. Here is my script header: #!/bin/bash ON_USER=$(echo ~ | awk -F'/' '{ print $1 $2 $3 }' | sed 's/home//g') export $(grep -v "^#" ~/.dbus/session-bus/`cat /var/lib/dbus/machine-id`-0) if sudo -u $ON_USER test -z "$DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS" ; then eval `sudo -u $ON_USER dbus-launch --sh-syntax --exit-with-session` fi RELEASE=$(lsb_release -cs) How could I make it return the actual user now that natty is coming? • TFS Backup Plan Wizard Tool

  With the release of the “September – 2010” TFS 2010 Power Tools, came an addition to the Team Foundation Server Administration Console.  This addition is the Team Foundation Backups Tree item.  The tool is used to create backup plans and to work with it you run through a wizard, just like you would in configuring TFS or any of the extensions it has. The areas covered through the tool include: Backup to a Network Backup Path, retention configuration. Under Advanced Options, the extension to be used for the Full and Transactional backups. The capability to include external databases, meaning, include the reporting databases and SharePoint databases as part of the plan. There are further options as you can see, that includes being able to define a task scheduler account, be able to set alerts for notifications on execution of the plans, and last the option to configure the schedule for the plan execution.  All in all a very good tool and great way to safeguard the investment you’ve made.

  I'll be at Oracle Open World 2012 next week in San Francisco. I'm presenting in a session entitled "What’s New with Oracle VM Server for x86 and SPARC Architectures: A Technical Deep Dive", along with Adam Hawley. We'll be talking about Oracle's overall virtualization strategy, what's new with Oracle server virtualization on both x86 and SPARC, as well as an update on Oracle's virtualization management capabilities. The session runs from 11:45am to 12:45pm on Wednesday 10/3, in Moscone South - room 252.
