    Hi guys, I need some help with my MSBuild file i created a while ago.     I am investigating moving a thick client SQL based Delphi application to Multi Tier thin clients, and have been looking at using Datasnap in Delphi 2010. I have worked through the White Paper written by Bob Swart and extended this further. My main question really is that I want to make the server side efficient in terms of connections and SQL Queries due to multiple queries being run and remaining open at the same time to interrogate data, can anyone point me in a direction for guidance on how to design a real world Datasnap Server application, as the demo's don't go into enough detail.   • How does DataContractSerializer write to private fields?

    I understand how XMLSerializer could work by using reflection to figure out what public read/write fields or properties it should be using to serialize or de-serialize XML. Yet XMLSerializer requires that the fields be public and read/write. However, DataContractSerializer is able to read or write to or from completely private fields in a class. So I'm wondering how this is even possible with out explicitly giving DataContractSerializer additional access rights to my class(es).

  • UIView's frame, bounds, center, origin, when to use what?

    UIView has the concept of frame, bounds, center, and origin, and they all seem to be interrelated. Most of the time, I deal with frame when setting the position and size of a UIView (or subclass). I understand that the frame is using global coordinate system and the bounds is using coordinate of the local view (therefore it's x and y are 0, but not always), but it's still confusing to me when to use what. Question: Under what context (and what's the right time) the other properties (bounds, center, origin) should be used?

    I would like to setup an hibernate project, for this I use the lastest hibernate 3.5-Final. BTW my IDE is Netbeans.     I realize Internet Explorer ignores the disabled attribute, but I'm not seeing a way to create, via the HtmlHelper, a SelectListItem that will spit out the following HTML: <option disabled="disabled">don't click this</option> The only properties SelectListItem has are: new SelectListItem{ Name = "don't click this", Value = string.Empty, Selected = false } The only option I see is to Subclass the SelectListItem to add an Enabled property to get the value to the view Not use the HTML helper for DropDownList Create a new HtmlHelper extension that accepts my new EnablableSelectList and adds my disabled attribute.

  • Azure storage: Uploaded files with size zero bytes

    When I upload an image file to a blob, the image is uploaded apparently successfully (no errors). When I go to cloud storage studio, the file is there, but with a size of 0 (zero) bytes. And no exceptions are thrown). And the really strange thing is that this works perfectly in other cases (uploading Power Points or even other images from the Worker role). The code that calls the SetContent method seems to be exactly the same and file seems to be correct since a new file with zero bytes is created at the correct location. Does any one have any suggestion please? I debugged this code dozens of times and I cannot see the problem. Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks

  • Objective-C wrapper API design methodology

    I know there's no one answer to this question, but I'd like to get people's thoughts on how they would approach the situation. I'm writing an Objective-C wrapper to a C library. My goals are: 1) The wrapper use Objective-C objects. For example, if the C API defines a parameter such as char *name, the Objective-C API should use name:(NSString *). 2) The client using the Objective-C wrapper should not have to have knowledge of the inner-workings of the C library. Speed is not really any issue. That's all easy with simple parameters. It's certainly no problem to take in an NSString and convert it to a C string to pass it to the C library. My indecision comes in when complex structures are involved. Let's say you have: struct flow { long direction; long speed; long disruption; long start; long stop; } flow_t; And then your C API call is: void setFlows(flow_t inFlows[4]); So, some of the choices are: 1) expose the flow_t structure to the client and have the Objective-C API take an array of those structures 2) build an NSArray of four NSDictionaries containing the properties and pass that as a parameter 3) create an NSArray of four "Flow" objects containing the structure's properties and pass that as a parameter My analysis of the approaches: Approach 1: Easiest. However, it doesn't meet the design goals Approach 2: For some reason, this seems to me to be the most "Objective-C" way of doing it. However, each element of the NSDictionary would have to be wrapped in an NSNumber. Now it seems like we're doing an awful lot just to pass the equivalent of a struct. Approach 3: Seems the cleanest to me from an object-oriented standpoint and the extra encapsulation could come in handy later. However, like #2, it now seems like we're doing an awful lot (creating an array, creating and initializing objects) just to pass a struct. So, the question is, how would you approach this situation? Are there other choices I'm not considering? Are there additional advantages or disadvantages to the approaches I've presented that I'm not considering?

  • pyQt4: QWidget subclass not responding to new setStyleSheet() background colour

    I am having an issue with PyQt4. I want to create a new widget within a window, and I want this widget to have a custom color. When i create a subclass of the QWidget class, and instantiate it, I am not able to change its background color through the setStyleSheet() function. When I instantiate a new QWidget object, I have no problems in changing its background color. But i dont want an ordinary QWidget object.I want to create my own subclass of QWidget. When i create a subclass of a QPushButton, I am also able to change its background color using the setStyleSheet() function. There are no error messages or warnings in the console window, it just refuses to work properly without any indication as to why. So what i would like to know is why is it that i can change the background color of a widget if i simply create a QWidget object, or a subclass of QPushButton, but not when i create a subclass of QWidget. And how can i therefore change the background color of an object that is a subclass of QWidget? Is it maybe something specific to the version of python or PyQt that i am using? Is it a bug in the library? or some flaw in the way that i am writing my code? I am using python 2.6.4 and PyQt4 Below is an example of the code that leads me to trouble. There are three widgets within the window one below the other. The parent widget is set with background color of green.     Hi, I'm teaching myself cocoa and enjoying the experience most of the time. I have been struggling all day with a simple problem that google has let me down on. I have read the Cocoa Bindings Program Topics and think I grok it but still can't solve my issue. I have a very simple class called MTSong that has various properties. I have used @synthesize to create getter/setters and can use KVC to change properties. i.e in my app controller the following works: mySong = [[MTSong alloc]init]; [mySong setValue:@"2" forKey:@"version"]; In case I am doing something noddy in my class code MTSong.h is: #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> @interface MTSong : NSObject { NSNumber *version; NSString *name; } @property(readwrite, assign) NSNumber *version; @property(readwrite, assign) NSString *name; @end and MTSong.m is: #import "MTSong.h" @implementation MTSong - (id)init { [super init]; return self; } - (void)dealloc { [super dealloc]; } @synthesize version; @synthesize name; @end In Interface Builder I have a label (NSTextField) that I want to update whenever I use KVC to change the version of the song. I do the following: Drag NSObjectController object into the doc window and in the Inspector-Attributes I set: Mode: Class Class Name: MTSong Add a key called version and another called name Go to Inspector-Bindings-Controller Content Bind To: File's Owner (Not sure this is right...) Model Key Path: version Select the cell of the label and go to Inspector Bind to: Object Controller Controller Key: mySong Model Key Path: version I have attempted changing the Model Key Path in step 2 to "mySong" which makes more sense but the compiler complains. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The first response will have NMSReplyTo properties while the other not.   • How to read an IIS 6 Website's Directory Structure using WMI?

    I need to read a website's folders using WMI and C# in IIS 6.0. I am able to read the Virtual directories and applications using the "IISWebVirtualDirSetting" class. However the physical folders located inside a website cannot be read using this class. And for my case i need to read sub folders located within a website and later on set permission on them. For my requirement i dont need to work on Virtual Directories/Web Service Applications (which can be easily obtained using the code below..). I have tried to use IISWebDirectory class but it has been useful. I am not working in Powershell and i don't really need a solution that involves powershell or vbscripts. Any alternative programmatic way of doing the same in C#/ASP.Net will also be highly appreciated.

  • jqGrid cell editing need to position the error message dialog

    I'm using jqGrid with cell editing. I have setup the colModel properties using the editrules option. Everything works fine in that if I edit a cell and try to save an invalid value the grid displays an error dialog, but I need to know how to position the error message dialog that comes up because in the case of my layout it ends up behind a video. I'm not quite sure how to hook into this and there don't seem to be any obvious options on how to do it.

  • How to avoid OLEDB converting "."s into "#"s in column names?

    I'm using the ACE OLEDB driver to read from an Excel 2007 spreadsheet, and I'm finding that any '.' character in column names get converted to a '#' character. For example, if I have the following in a spreadsheet: Name Amt. Due Due Date Andrew 12.50 4/1/2010 Brian 20.00 4/12/2010 Charlie 1000.00 6/30/2010 the name of the second column would be reported as "Amt# Due" when read with the following code: OleDbConnection connection = new OleDbConnection( "Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0; Data Source={0}; " + "Extended Properties=\"Excel 12.0 Xml;HDR=YES;FMT=Delimited;IMEX=1\""); OldDbCommand command = new OleDbCommand("SELECT * FROM MyTable", connection); OleDbReader dataReader = command.ExecuteReader(); System.Console.WriteLine(dataReader.GetName(1)); I've read through all the documentation I can find and I haven't found anything which even mentions that this will happen.
