  • WebCenter .NET Accelerator - Microsoft SharePoint Data via WSRP

    Platforms in the enterprise will never be homogeneous. As much as any vendor would enjoy having their single development or application technology be exclusively adopted by customers, too much legacy, time, education, innovation and vertical business needs exist to make using a single platform practical. JAVA and .NET are the two industry application platform heavyweights and more often than not, business users are leveraging various systems in their day to day activities that incorporate applications developed on top of both platforms. BEA Systems acquired Plumtree Software to complete their "liquid" view of data, stressing that regardless of a particular source system heterogeneous data could interoperate at not only through layers that allowed for data aggregation, but also at the "glass" or UI layer. The technical components that allowed the integration at the glass thrive today at Oracle, helping WebCenter to provide a rich composite application framework. Oracle Ensemble and the Oracle .NET Application Accelerator allow WebCenter to consume and interact with the UI layers provided by .NET applications and a series of other technologies. The beauty of the .NET accelerator is that it can consume any .NET application and act as a Web Services for Remote Portlets (WSRP) producer. I recently had a chance to leverage the .NET accelerator to expose a ASP .NET 2.0 (C#) application in the WebCenter UI (pictured above) and wanted to share a few tips to help others get started with similar integrations. I was using two virtual machines for the exercise - one with Windows Server 2003, running SharePoint and the other running WebCenter Spaces 11g. For my sample application data I ended up using SharePoint 2007 lists and calendars (MOSS 2007) to supply results using a .NET API for SharePoint.

  • Tool to convert from XML to CSV and back to XML without losing information?

    I would like to convert an XML file into CSV, and then be able to convert that CSV back into the original XML file. Is there a tool out there that makes this possible? The reason I want to do this is that I want to generate a ton of data to be stored in an xml file that my program will parse. I can easily generate a lot of data with a CSV file through the use of Excel macros, so that's why I'm looking for a tool to convert between these two formats. Any alternative suggestions are greatly appreciated.

  • Calculate time in all countries for fixed time in one of them [migrated]

    I have table with all countries GMT/UTC timezones, I need to see what time is in the rest of the countries when in USA is 11am-3pm Not on particular date just know the difference in time. I did my calculation like that I -5 GMT in USA and time is 11am then in Russia for example is +4 GMT. 5+4+11=20pm in Russia when USA is 11am, this works with countries that have + GMT zone but ones that have minus it shows wrong time. I am working in Excel please help me with advice on how to do it.

  • Where should I start with debugging my exchange server?

    I'm (foolishly?) attempting to install Exchange on top of Windows Server 2008 (64-bit) over Virtual Box running on Mac OSX Lion. Everything went smoothly until I got to the "Readiness Checks" tab. Readiness failed spectacularly on Hub Transport Role and Mailbox Role prereqs. Before I go too far down the rabbit hole in attempting to remedy this, I was hoping I could get some input on where to start in all of this. I already set up the following Active Directory roles, but it didn't seem to help: Active Directory Domain Services Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services I also enabled an Application Server role. Those three are the only roles I've set up-- I cannot locate within Server Manager the Organization Manager role or any of the other roles referenced in the list of borkedness below. Is this a typical experience in Exchange installation? Is there a tutorial created by somebody outside of Microsoft?     I tried using the code below for the Excel program on my `Mac Mini using the OS X Version 10.7.2 and it keeps saying Error due to file name / path: (The Excel file I am creating is going to be a template with my formulas and macros installed which will be used over and over). A:A is what I need the name of the file to be. B:2 is the content I need in the text file. So, A2 - "repair-video-game-Glassboro-NJ-08028.txt" is the file name and B2 to be the content in the file. Next, A3 is the file name and B3 is the content for the file, etc. ONCE the content reads what is in cell A16 and B16 (length will vary), the file creation should stop, if not then I can delete the additional files created. This sheet will never change. Is there a way to establish the excel macro to always go to this sheet instead of have to select it with the mouse to identify the starting point? 2nd Objective I would like to have the following data to be used to create a text file. A:1 is what I need the name of the file to be. B:B is the content I want in the file. So, A2 - is the file name "geo-sitemap.xml" and B:B to be the content in the file (ignore the .xml file extension in the photo). ONCE the content cell reads what is in cell "B16" (length will vary), the file creation should stop, if not then I can adjust the cells that have need content (formulated content you see in the image is preset for 500 rows). This sheet will never change. Is there a way to establish the excel macro to always go to this sheet instead of have to select it with the mouse to identify the starting point? I can Provide the content in the cells that are filled in by excel formulas that are not not to be included in the .txt files. It is ok if it is not possible. I can delete the extra cells that are not populated (based on the data sheet). Please let me know if you need any more additional information or clarity and I will be happy to provide it.

    I have an Excel spreadsheet, and I want to put a button on it, so users will be able to upload their data to an http/ftp server, or send the data to the server using a socket directly. I have noticed that some people creates an ftp script to do. First of all, I'm not sure that everybody has ftp on their Windows machine, and secondly, I would prefer to use a method that allows me to better monitor the progress of the upload. For example, I want to know if the user id/password failed, if the transmission completed successfully, of if there were any other kind of errors with the receiving server. Thank you.

  • How do I connect a 2008 server to a 2003 server active directory?

    Our DC is running Windows Server 2003. I've just set up Windows Server 2008 and have terminal server running on it. When setting the terminal server permissions, it was able to allow a group name that was read from the domain. In the DC the new terminal server shows up as a computer in the domain. I can also log in as a user within the domain even though that user doesn't exist locally on the new server. However, when I go to set sharing permissions on the new machine it doesn't show my domain as a location. Instead it is only looking at location "machinename" and not allowing domain to be seen or added. Is there something I'm missing? Ok, lots of errors in the event log. We have this: The winlogon notification subscriber is taking long time to handle the notification event (Logon). Followed by this: The winlogon notification subscriber took 121 second(s) to handle the notification event (Logon). Followed by: The processing of Group Policy failed because of lack of network connectivity to a domain controller. This may be a transient condition. A success message would be generated once the machine gets connected to the domain controller and Group Policy has succesfully processed. If you do not see a success message for several hours, then contact your administrator. I think this might be the same problem I'm having http://serverfault.com/questions/24420/primary-domain-controller-slow Solved. The issue was that I had changed from DHCP to static and put the wrong DNS server IP in. i.e. firewall instead of DC/DNS server.

  • Windows Small Business System 2003. SQL timeout in Server Performance Report

    I'm the volunteer IT admin at a small school. We have SBS 2003 with about ten desktops. The server performance report is emailed to me daily. It is setup with a wizard in the Monitoring and Performance part of the "Server Management" console. It often fails with a "The page cannot be displayed" error. The event log shows Event Type: Error Event Source: ServerStatusReports Event Category: None Event ID: 1 Date: 1/16/2011 Time: 6:03:14 AM User: N/A Computer: ALPHA Description: Server Status Report: URL: http://localhost/monitoring/perf.aspx?reportMode=1&allHours=1 Error Message: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding. Stack Trace: at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, TdsParserState state) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, TdsParserState state) at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.ThrowExceptionAndWarning() at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.ReadNetlib(Int32 bytesExpected) [plus lots more stack trace] This has been happening for years :) I've never really solved it. It seems to be related to WSUS. When it happens, I run the Update Services "Server Cleanup Wizard". That takes a long time to run. If I haven't run it for a while it can take 10 hours. I also run the WsusDBMaintenance.sql script (from TechNet I think) which reindexes the database etc. Those two things seem to get it working again for a while. Recently the "while" has become a couple of weeks. My searching online has revealed lots of people having this problem but no real solution. Does anyone have any good ideas about this? I have to wonder if something in the WSUS SQL schema is not indexed properly. The time that the server cleanup wizard takes seems ridiculous. Thanks

Basides the Azure it might be more useful to us to learn how they utilized ASP.NET MVC. Here are my initial comments:The code is well illustrated by diagrams. The approach is practical. The code is well commented, however the C# code samples would be better had they been fully Style Cop compliant.I recommend this book to all C# and VB.NET Development teams. I concur with the author who states that the book is not for learning C# or VB.NET, however it is an excellent book for C# or VB.NET developers to extend their knowledge of the Dot Net framework.
