    I am working on Kendo UI with asp.net mvc razor. I am trying to bind database table data with kendo grid that supports CRUD operations. Here i need to populate a dropdownlist for one of my table field.     I've created CustomTabItem which inherits from TabItem and i'd like to use it while binding ObservableCollection in TabControl <TabControl ItemsSource="{Binding MyObservableCollection}"/> It should like this in XAML, but i do not know how change default type of the output item created by TabControl while binding. I've tried to create converter, but it has to do something like this inside convertin method: List<CustomTabItem> resultList = new List<CustomTabItem>(); And iterate through my input ObservableCollection, create my CustomTab based on item from collection and add it to resultList... I'd like to avoid it, bacause while creating CustomTabItem i'm creating complex View and it takes a while, so i don't want to create it always when something change in binded collection. My class extends typical TabItem and i'd like to use this class in TabControl instead of TabItem. <TabControl.ItemContainerStyle> <Style TargetType="{x:Type local:CustomTabItem}"> <Setter Property="MyProperty" Value="{Binding xxx}"/> </Style> </TabControl.ItemContainerStyle> Code above generates error that Style cannot be applied to TabItem. My main purpose is to use in XAML my own CustomTabItem and bind properties... Just like above... I've also tried to use <TabControl.ItemTemplate/> <TabControl.ContentTemaplte/> But they are just styles for TabItem, so i'll still be missing my properties wchich i added in my custom class.

  • Clip a wpf Popup at bounds of a main window

    From what I understand, the popup exists within it's own visual tree. However, I've noticed a few properties, Clip and ClipToBounds. What I am wanting to do is Visually clip a popup at the right and bottom edges of a window regardless of the fact that the popup is independent of the bounds of the window. I'm not using XAML, but if somebody knows how to do it in XAML, then that's fine. I can get to the main window using System.Windows.Application.Current.MainWindow. Is it possible from this to get a value that I can use to clip the popup? I'm assuming that if there is a value that I can use, then I would be able to bind the clipping of the popup to that value. This is really not necessary since after the popup initially opens, if the window gets moved or resized, the popup closes. So I would really only need to clip the popup when it opens. The reason I would like to do this is because although I am using a popup, I don't want it to appear as a popup that exists outside of the window. FYI this is for a popup calendar for a custom datebox. Any ideas, as well as clarification of misconceptions that I may have, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Brandon

What is the right way to solve this? I have tried making the binding OneWay and create an additional multibinding for local:SPoint.Slope, but that causes infinite recursion and stack overflow. I was thinking the ConverterParameter could be used, but it seems like it's not possible to bind to it.

  • ObservableCollection is not updating Multibinding in C# WPF

    I have a TreeView that creates all its items from databound ObservableCollections. I have a hierarchy of GameNode objects, each object has two ObservableCollections. One collections has EntityAttrib objects and the other have GameNode objects. You could say that the GameNode object represents folders and EntityAttrib represents files. To display both attrib and GameNodes in the same TreeView I use Multibinding. This all works fine in startup, but when I add a new GameNode somewhere in the hierarchy the TreeView is not updated. I set a breakpoint in my converter method but it's not called when adding a new GameNode. It seems that the ObservableCollection is not notifying the MultiBinding of the change. If I comment out the MultiBinding and only bind the GameNode collection it works as expected.     After much struggling, I've figured out how to authenticate to my company's Active Directory using just 2 lines of code with the Domain, Username, and Password in .NET 2.0 (in C#): // set domain, username, password, and security parameters DirectoryEntry entry = new DirectoryEntry("LDAP://" + domain, username, password, AuthenticationTypes.Secure | AuthenticationTypes.SecureSocketsLayer); // force Bind to AD server to authenticate object obj = entry.NativeObject; If the 2nd line throws an exception, then the credentials and/or parameters were bad. (Specific reason can be found in the exception.) If no exception, then the credentials are good. Trying to do this in .NET 3.5 looks like it should be easy, but has me at a roadblock instead. Specifically, I've been working with this example: PrincipalContext domainContext = new PrincipalContext(ContextType.Domain, domain); using (domainContext) { return domainContext.ValidateCredentials(UserName, Password); } Unfortunately, this doesn't work for me as I don't have both ContextOptions set to Sealed/Secure and SSL (like I did above in the .NET 2.0 code.) To facilitate that I am thinking of creating a separate partial class that somehow links back to the Portal Model. This would allow me to display limited Fields for update by the AsstAdmin and I can display a different name for the Field as well. How can I accomplish this task?     I've been working towards a solution for some time and could use a little help. I know I've seen an example of this before, but tonight I cannot find anything close to what I need. I have a service that provides me all my DropDownLists, either from Cache or from the DomainService. They are presented as IEnumerable, and are requested from the a repository with GetLookup(LookupId). I have created a custom attribute that I have decorated my MetaDataClass that looks something like this: [Lookup(Lookup.Products)] public Guid ProductId I have created a custom Data Form that is set to AutoGenerateFields and I am intercepting the autogenerate fields. I am checking for my CustomAttribute and that works.     I have a requirement where I have to display some data (from a custom db) and let the user export it to an excel file. I decided to use the ReportViewer control present in Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportViewer. I added the required assembly to the project references and I add the following code to test it out protected override void CreateChildControls() { base.CreateChildControls(); objRV = new Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportViewer(); objRV.ID = "objRV"; this.Controls.Add(objRV); } The first error asked me to add this line in the web.config which I did and the next error says The type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.Analytics.UI.ReportViewerMessages, Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal, Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c' does not implement IReportViewerMessages Is it possible to use ReportViewer in my custom Web Part? I rather not bind a repeater and write my own export to excel code. I want to use something which is already built by Microsoft? Any ideas on what I can reuse?     Hi everybody! In a WPF application i'm using LINQ to SQL classes (created by SQL Metal, thus implementing POCOs). Let's assume i have a table User and a Table Pictures. These pictures are actually created from one picture, the difference between them may be the size, coloring,... So every user may has more than one Pictures, so the association is 1:N (User:Pictures). My problems: a) how do i bind, in a MVVM manner, a picture control to one picture (i will take one specific picture) in the EntitySet, to show it up? b) everytime a user changes her picture the whole EntitySet should be thrown away and the newly created Picture(s) should be a added. Is this the correct way? e.g. //create the 1st piture object UserPicture1 = new UserPicture(); UserPicture1.Description = "... some description.. I've been following a tutorial and a sample application, namely 5 Days of Wicket - Writing the tests: http://www.mysticcoders.com/blog/2009/03/10/5-days-of-wicket-writing-the-tests/ I've set up my own little project with a simple shoutbox that saves messages to a database. I then wanted to set up a couple of tests that would make sure that if a message is stored in the database, the retrieved object would contain the exact same data. Upon running mvn test all my tests fail. The exception has been pasted in the first code box underneath. I've noticed that even though my unitils.properties says to use the 'hdqldb'-dialect, this message is still output in the console window when starting the tests: INFO - Dialect - Using dialect: org.hibernate.dialect.PostgreSQLDialect.     Hi, I am looking at ASP.NET MVC2 and trying to post a complex object using the new EditorFor syntax. I have a FraudDto object that has a FraudCategory child object and I want to set this object from the values that are posted from the form. Posting a simple object is not a problem but I am struggling with how to handle complex objects with child objects. I have the following parent FraudDto object whcih I am binding to on the form: public class FraudDto { public FraudCategoryDto FraudCategory { get; set; } public List<FraudCategoryDto> FraudCategories { get; private set; } public IEnumerable<SelectListItem> FraudCategoryList { get { return FraudCategories.Select(t => new SelectListItem { Text = t.Name, Value = t.Id.ToString() }); } The child FraudCategoryDto object looks like this: public class FraudCategoryDto { public int Id { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } } On the form, I have the following code where I want to bind the FraudCategoryDto to the dropdown. The view is of type ViewPage: <td class="tac"> <strong>Category:</strong> </td> <td> <%= Html.DropDownListFor(x => x.FraudCategory, Model.FraudTypeList)%> </td> I then have the following controller code: [HttpPost] public virtual ViewResult SaveOrUpdate(FraudDto fraudDto) { return View(fraudDto); } When the form is posted to the server, the FraudCategory property of the Fraud object is null.     I'm having trouble getting the autocomplete box in System.Windows.Controls.Input working as I wish. When I start typing the dropdown section that displays the filtered list doesn't show the property that I'm binding to, it shows the class name instead. So in the example below, when I type in my - instead of showing 'My Name' it shows MyNamespace.Person. However, when I select the item from the autocomplete list, it displays the FullName property in the textbox. I'm sure I'm just missing a simple autocomplete box property somewhere but I can't see it. The button is placed in a page 'MyPage.xaml' but its custom ICommand class is placed in another class, not in the MyPage code behind.     Hi, I have a GridView to which I bind a dataTable I manually create. Both the GridView and the dataTable contain 2 columns, Name and isBusy. I require the entire column of checkboxes to be checkable.     I have a control class DragGrid : Grid { ... } which inherits from the original grid and enables dragging and resizing its child elements. I need to bind a custom DP named WorkItemsProperty to an observable collection of type WorkItem (implements INotifyPropertyChanged). Each element in the grid is bound to a collection item. Whenever the user adds a new item dynamically at runtime (the items cannot be declared in XAML!), or deletes an item from that collection, the WorkItems DP on the DragGrid should be updated, and the children in the grid (where each child represents a WorkItem collection item). My question is how does the DP notify the control about which child element in the grid must be removed, changed ('change' means user dragged an element, or resized it with the mouse) or added, and how would I identify which one of the existing children is the one that needs to be deleted or changed. I understand that this is where the DependencyPropertyChangedCallback comes in. But that only gets called when the DP property is set anew, not when something inside the collection changes (like add, remove item). So in the end, does the DragGrid control somehow need to subscribe to the CollectionChanged event? At what point would I hook up the event handler for that?

    I just noticed some strange behaviour of WPF's TreeView. I added both ItemContainerStyle to bind to "IsSelected" of my ViewModel and an ItemsTemplated for custom display of my data. But now the user cannot change the selected node anymore. For testing purposes I created a similar UI using ListView and Expander. This version works as excepted. The effect is that MyTextBox doesn´t update and not display the text of the other Textbox. Additional i made an equal binding for a normal Textbox. And this works. PS: I tried a binding to a dummy object with INotifyPropertyChanged and set it as DataContext for the existing Textboxes. This test works as expected and my derived textbox gets updated.

    How would I bind the IsChecked member of a CheckBox to a member variable in my form?     i am working with spring frame work. Problem is that on forgot password jsp page when i enter the right name or email address the funtion send a mail to the user.
