• Publishing content to multiple (unknown) domains using Open Graph?

  I'm working on an application that publishes content ('articles') on a variety of URLs, which are all controlled by the same WordPress installation (mapped domains, all powered by the same set of code/part of a network). All of the publishing is done through one central Facebook App. I have no idea what the domains for these URLS are going to be, since they are controlled by our users who register domains and then configure them within their account on our service. When I attempt to use Open Graph to publish content on one of these sites (that has a customized domain), they are rejected with the following error (error code 1611028): Object at URL * * * * of type 'article' is invalid because the domain '* * * ' is not allowed for the specified application id ' * * *'. You can verify your configured 'App Domain' at.... Since I can't enter all of the domains into Facebook, and since they are not derived from my App URL anyway, is there any way that I can have this work? Some sort of magic OG tag I can put in the pages or something? Or is it just not possible to do what I'm trying to do?

• Adapting the width of a Flexs 3 DataGridColumn to the content of its ItemRenderer ?

  I have the following scenario : A Flex 3 DataGrid is sitting here At runtime, a column is added to this grid The column has a custom ItemRenderer The ItemRenderer inherits from HBox, and adds a few items to the HBOx dynamically My problem is that the width of the column doesn't change. As a consequence, my column stays small, and an ugly horizontal scrollbar is displayed in the line, instead of my content (which is completely unreadable). I would like the column to adapt its width to the content of the HBox in the ItemRenderer. I tried the following : Setting the 'percentWidth' of the ItemRenderer to '100' Invalidating the properties of the ItemRenderer after adding the items The only thing that has a "visible" effect it to force the width of the DataGridColumn. Obviously this is not acceptable since I'm dynamically adding components to the ItemRenderer, and I don't know how many or how big they are. Besides, when I am in the ItemRenderer, I have no access to the column itself (or do I ?) so I cannot force the size of the column from here. So is there a way around this ? Would AdvancedDataGrid help here (notwhistanding the fact that I cannot really use it for other reasons ...) Thanks PH

  I am working on a mobile platform over Nucleus RTOS. It uses Nucleus Threading system but it doesn't have support for explicit thread local storage i.e, TlsAlloc, TlsSetValue, TlsGetValue, TlsFree APIs. The platform doesn't have user space pthreads as well. I found that __thread storage modifier is present in most of the C++ compilers. But i don't know how to make it work for my kind of usage. How does __thread keyword can be mapped with explicit thread local storage? I read many articles but nothing is so clear for giving me the following basic information will __thread variable different for each thread ?   I am using the code in example http://www.faridesign.net/2012/05/create-a-awesome-vertical-tabbed-content-area-using-css3-jquery/ I am trying to slide the div tags on a button click on the list so the current tab-content will slide in and the tab just clicked will slide out. I currently have the working example where I can switch between divs fine, but I need to slide in and out between divs. Is there any script I can do this with the current code. using .slide or .effect instead of .show() looks to display two divs at the same time. • Cannot see index view of my controller - routing related

  Hi. I have a controller named Content, which has an Index action, which is associated with a view. I would like the simple route "content" to show me the index view of the content controller, so I use the following code (with the addition of the default site home route): routes.MapRoute( "ContentIndex", "content", new { controller = "Content", action = "Index"} ); routes.MapRoute( "Default", "{controller}/{action}", new { controller = "Home", action = "Index" } ); when I type the url : "http://localhost/content/", I get an error 404 saying the resource cannot be found, but when I type "http://localhost/content/index", it shows the content index view. • Is there a way to prevent SQL Server silently truncating data in local variables and stored procedure parameters?

  I recently encountered an issue while porting an app to SQL Server. It turned out that this issue was caused by a stored procedure parameter being declared too short for the data being passed to it: the parameter was declared as VARCHAR(100) but in one case was being passed more than 100 characters of data. What surprised me was that SQL Server didn't report any errors or warnings -- it just silently truncated the data to 100 characters. The following SQLCMD session demonstrates this: 1 create procedure WhereHasMyDataGone (@data varchar(5)) as 2 begin 3 print 'Your data is ''' + @data + '''.'; 4 end; 5 go 1 exec WhereHasMyDataGone '123456789'; 2 go Your data is '12345'. Local variables also exhibit the same behaviour: 1 declare @s varchar(5) = '123456789'; 2 print @s; 3 go 12345 Is there an option I can enable to have SQL Server report errors (or at least warnings) in such situations?   I have a site currently written with HTML5 tags. I'd like to be able to parse the site as XML, with support for namespaces, etc, to facilitate programmatic extraction of data. Currently I have <!DOCTYPE html> and <meta charset="utf-8"> Which I gather is equivalent in HTML5 to explicitly setting the content-types as <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> for my current setup. In order to serve XML it sounds like the right thing to do is <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> Should I also change my Content-Type to <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="application/xhtml+xml; charset=iso-8859-1" /> Or is that not necessary? What is the advantage of having content-type be "application/xhtml+xml"? What is the disadvantage? • SEO Problem for new dictionary site, google hasn't indexed content.

  I loaded about 15,000 pages, letters A & B of a dictionary and submitted to google a text site map. I'm using google's search with advertisement as the planned mechanism to go through my site. Google's webmaster accepted the site mapps as good but then did not index. My index page has been indexed by google and at this point have not linked to any pages. So to get google's search to work I need to get all my content indexed. It appears google will not just index from the site map and so I was thinking of adding pages that spider in links from the main index page. But I don't want to create a bunch of pages that programicly link all of the pages without knowing if this has a chance to work. Eventually I plan on having about 150,000 pages each page being a word or phrase being defined. I wrote a program that is pulling this from a dictionary database. I would like to prove the content that I have to anyone interested to show the value of the dictionary in releation to the dictionary software that I'm completing. Suggestions for getting the entire site indexed by google so I can appear in the search results? Thanks

• Syntax errors on Heroku, but not on local server (postgresql related?)

  I'm trying to deploy my first app on Heroku (rails 3). It works fine on my local server, but when I pushed it to Heroku and ran it, it crashes, giving a number of syntax errors. These are related to a collection of scopes I use like the one below: scope :scored, lambda { |score = nil| score.nil? ? {} : where('products.votes_count >= ?', score) } it produces errors of this form: "syntax error, unexpected '=', expecting '|' " "syntax error, unexpected '}', expecting kEND" Why is this syntax making Heroku choke and how can I correct it? Thanks! EDIT: I was using sqlite on my local machine and Heroku does not support that. Trying to make sure the db is properly configured for PG. I believe I have done that by specifying in the gemfile that sqlite only be used in development. Yet I still get these syntax errors, that interrupt even the db:migrate. EDIT: So now it seems more likely that my scope syntax doesn't work in postgreSQL. Does anyone know how to convert this properly?

• Jquery accordion, next and previous wizard, how to get previous and next sections?

  Hi I have a Jquery accordion which works fine. Sections get expanded/collapsed when clicked on respective headers. But I want to add the functionality so that when I click on "next" button it opens up the next section and clicking "Previous" button takes me back to previous section. • Virtual Hosts Not Working (12.10)

  I'm trying to get virtual hosts up and running on my Ubuntu laptop that has 12.10 installed. I'm running Apache2, and I enabled the virtual hosting module. When I go to 12.0.0.1, I'm able to get the default page. When I go to example.local, I just get the search engine results, instead of the "hey, you're seeing this" page I set up in that directory (/var/www/example.local). I even made sure I have only one "NameVirtualHost *:80" variable active.   In my project, I have created a code snippet which can be copied and then put in any website. It shows my content on other websites. My approach works fine. But when I look into some good standard ways to do such tasks, I find a different way. Take an example of google adsense code. <script type='text/javascript'> var a = 'somedata'; var b = 'someotherdata'; </script> <script type='text/javascript' src='http://www.google.com/adsenseurl.js'></script> I guess, since a and b are global; adsenseurl.js must be using it and may be finally they are showing it on iframe. So, now the question. What's the advantage in using google's approach and whats wrong in my approach ? p.s. I know I should try to avoid using iframes but I dont see any other way to accomplish this.

Which I pretty much knew. The question remains what is blocking it and how to modify. Re-re-edit: To check Paul Lathrop's suggested answer, I first verified my ip address with ifconfig: eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 02:16:3e:42:28:8f inet addr:10.0.10.3 Bcast:10.0.10.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 Then tried to telnet to 5903 from that address: # telnet 10.0.10.3 5903 Trying 10.0.10.3... telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection timed out No luck. Re-re-re-re-edit: Ok, I think I have isolated it a bit to vncserver, not the firewall, darn it. I shut off vncserver and had netcat listen on port 5903. My vnc client then was able to establish a connnection and sit and wait for a response. Looks like I should be chasing a vnc problem. At least that is progress Thanks for the help

• Am I crazy? (How) should I create a jQuery content editor?

  Ok, so I created a CMS mainly aimed at Primary Schools. It's getting fairly popular in New Zealand but the one thing I hate with a passion is the largely bad quality of in browser WYSIWYG editors. I've been using KTML (made by InterAKT which was purchased by Adobe a few years ago). In my opinion this editor does a lot of great things (image editing/management, thumbnailing and pretty good content editing). Unfortunately time has had its nasty way with this product and new browsers are beginning to break features and generally degrade the performance of this tool. It's also quite scary basing my livelihood on a defunct product! I've been hunting, in fact I regularly hunt around to see if anything has changed in the WYSIWYG arena. The closest thing I've seen that excites me is the WYSIHAT framework, but they've decided to ignore a pretty relevant editing paradigm which I'm going to outline below. This is the idea for my proposed editor, and I don't know of any existing products that can do this properly: Right, so the traditional model for editing let's say a Page in a CMS is to log into a 'back end' and click edit on the page. This will then load another screen with the editor in it and perhaps a few other fields. More advanced CMS's will maybe have several editing boxes that are for different portions of the page. Anyway, the big problem with this way of doing things is that the user is editing a document outside of the final context it will appear in. In the simplest terms, this means the page template. Many things can be wrong, e.g. the with of the editing area might be different to the width of the actual template area. The height is nearly always fixed because existing editors always seem to use IFRAMES for backward compatibility. And there are plenty of other beefs which I'm sure you're quite aware of if you're in this development area. Here's my editor utopia: You click 'Edit Page': The actual page (with its actual template) displays. Portions of the page have been marked as editable via a class name. You click on one of these areas (in my case it'd just be the big 'body' area in the middle of the template) and a editing bar drops down from the top of the screen with all your standard controls (bold, italic, insert image etc...). Iframes are never used, instead we rely on setting contentEditable to true on the DIV's in question. Firefox 2 and IE6 can go away, let's move on. You can edit the page knowing exactly how it will look when you save it. Because all the styles for this template are loaded, your headings will look correct, everything will be just dandy. Is this such a radical concept? Why are we still content with TinyMCE and that other editor that is too embarrassing to use because it sounds like a swear word!? Let's face the facts: I'm a JavaScript novice. I did once play around in this area using the Javascript Anthology from SitePoint as a guide. It was quite a cool learning experience, but they of course used the IFRAME to make their lives easier. I tried to go a different route and just use contentEditable and even tried to sidestep the native content editing routines (execCommand) and instead wrote my own. They kind of worked but there were always issues. Now we have jQuery, and a few libraries that abstract things like IE's lack of Range support. I'm wondering, am I crazy, or is it actually a good idea to try and build an editor around this editing paradigm using jQuery and relevant plugins to make the job easier? My actual questions: Where would you start? What plugins do you know of that would help the most? Is it worth it, or is there a magical project that already exists that I should join in on? What are the biggest hurdles to overcome in a project like this? Am I crazy? I hope this question has been posted on the right board. I figured it is a technical question as I'm wanting to know specific hurdles and pitfalls to watch out for and also if it is technically feasible with todays technology. • "domain crashed" when creating new Xen instance

  I have downloaded a Xen virtual machine image from the appscale project, and I am trying to start it up. • Cannot ping Localhost so I can't shutdown Tomcat

  Hi, I installed Tomcat 6 using the tar-ball via wget.
