  • How to normalize a word document?

    I was too cheap to hire someone to retype a really, really long scanned document full of legalese. So I OCRed it using OmniPage. But the OCR output was kind of disappointing. I got a word doc that has multiple line spacings. The before and after paragraph heights are different all over the place. This would be easy, if the entire document had the same paragraph settings, but it does not. There are probably a half dozen different styles going on. What is the easiest way to normalize the document? For instance, if one paragraph has a line spacing of 20.4 pt and another one has a spacing of 20.9 pt, then I'd like to consider them the same style and set them to a single value? Or really, any suggestion is welcome at this point.

  • Import PDF in Inkscape without per character spacing

    I have a PDF form I imported into Inkscape. It did a pretty great job of created an SVG from it, however it appears to have given per character x coordinates to each tspan in every text block. I'm not sure, but I think this is making the FOP render that our software does ridiculously slow (running it through other renderers like IBEX it seems fine). I'd like to import it but have it not do per character positions. I can't seem to find any sort of PDF importing options at all. Does such a thing exist? Or is there perhaps some other, better freeware application I could use to generate the SVG from the PDF then use Inkscape to do adjustments from there? Thanks in advance.

  • Letter and word spacing decreases in Word 2010

    I checked the font menu and everything is default. Whenever I open a document, all letters are closer to each other than they should be and all words are farther than they should be. Even the documents look normal in other computers are looks this way in my comptuer. I added an image for showing the problem. First part is what it should be and second part is what I get. What could e the problem? I also checked options page but I couldn't find something related.

  • Spacing differences between IE7 and Firefox/Opera/Chrome

    I have an ongoing issue with the amount of vertical space of unordered lists in IE7 vs. Firefox/Chrome/Opera and I can't seem to find a solution out there. In IE7, the space is less and what I would like to see. In Firefox, Chrome, and Opera, the space between is about twice as much. I can't account for any of the spacing issues in my code or page.   • Some little extra space is being added when a drop-down is on :focus

    My problem is that when I place :focus style for our dropdown lists like so: input, select { margin: 0; padding: 0; } select:focus { background: #FFC; } ...the dropdown with the focused selection suddenly has an extra spacing on all sides (1-2px spacing). See images below: It may seem unnoticable on the photos above but when you do a selection, the increase in padding/spacing cannot be missed. I already tried removing margin: 0, padding: 0, thinking that the :focus state might be reverting to the padded version but still the same. Has anybody encountered this problem? Only happens in Firefox.

    Hi, I have a Relative Layout. Which has 2 buttons, side by side and it is right-aligned. So this is my layout xml file. My question is there are no spacing between the right-most button and the right border of the RelativeLayout and between the 2 buttons. How can I add that? I play with android:paddingRight, but nothing helps.   • Letter-spacing in large name decreasing

    I have such trouble: in large names, as shown in image , somehow letter-spacing for Tahoma font is decreasing. This issue is shown up in two components that I use, so I don't think this is bug of the components. I have tested with another fonts, Arial - situation the same; MS Sans Serif - the same; Trebuchet MS - situation is good, symbols type correctly; Times New Roman - situation is good too, but font with notches Can you help? Using .NET without WPF.

  • Internet Explorer table 1 pixel spacing problem

    I've found a strange problem with Internet Explorer related to table spacing and cannot find a way to work around it. An empty table results in a single pixel white space with Internet Explorer (6 and 7, 8 not yet tested), while all other browsers ignore the empty table.   • IE6 (yes, IE6) css spacing issue

Each object can be related to another object and there can be any number of relationships and there can be any number of these objects.   • JQuery jqGrid vertical spacing issue in IE

    I have been developing an app to use jQuery's jqGrid plugin, and I thought I had it all wrapped up until I tried to view the grid in IE. In IE, the grid appears with a much larger height in the .ui-jqgrid-view div, but the data itself stays at a smaller size and displays at the bottom of the container div (.ui-jqgrid-view). I need to get the grid to display "properly". I don't care if it is the larger size (that IE displays) or smaller (as in FF)... I just need to have the data fill the grid area. Thanks!   • Bash or python for changing spacing in files

    Hi, I have a set of 10000 files. In all of them, the second line, looks like: AAA 3.429 3.84 so there is just one space (requirement) between AAA and the two other columns. The rest of lines on each file are completely different and correspond to 10 columns of numbers. Randomly, in around 20% of the files, and due to some errors, one gets BBB 3.429 3.84 so now there are two spaces between the first and second column. This is a big error so I need to fix it, changing from 2 to 1 space in the files where the error takes place. The first approach I thought of was to write a bash script that for each file reads the 3 values of the second line and then prints them with just one space, doing it for all the files. I wonder what do oyu think about this approach and if you could suggest something better, bashm python or someother approach. Thanks
