  • Filtering and then counting distinct values

    - by Deon
    This is for Excel: I've been tasked with counting distinct records after I have filtered the data. I have 330 rows with column A containing the 'name' and in Column B I have the name of a test that was done for each 'name', which each 'name' could have taken several iterations of the same test. The test results are in Column C. Col A -Student Col B -Exam Col C - Grade Student 1 Exam 1 .80 Student 2 Exam 1 .50 Student 3 Exam 1 .90 Student 2 Exam 1 .75 Student 4 Exam 1 .90 Student 5 Exam 1 .55 Student 2 Exam 2 .90 Student 1 Exam 2 .90 .... .... ... If I filter col B for Exam 1, I want to count the unique number of students that have taken Exam 1.

Thanks for your help.

  • Send mail to multiple recipient

    - by Ahmad Maslan
    Hi, i have already research on using the mail() to send to multiple recipient's but i just cant get it to work. What im trying to do is, for every order that i have, order 1,2,3, each having their own email addresses, when i change their order status from pending to confirm, the mail() will use that id to refer to the db table and send the email of those 3 orders. But for my case, it mailed just the latest order which is order 3. This is the form that i use to change the order status. <form action="results-action" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data"> <fieldset> <table id ="table_id" class="display"> <thead> <tr><td><h2>Pending Order</h2></td></tr> <tr> <th scope="col">Order ID</th> <th scope="col"> </th> <th scope="col">Name</th> <th scope="col">Address</th> <th scope="col">Product Name</th> <th scope="col">Produt Quantity</th> <th scope="col">Price</th> <th scope="col">Order status</th> </tr> </thead> <tbody> <?php while ($row = mysqli_fetch_array($result)) { ?> <tr> <td><input type="text" value='<?=$row['virtuemart_order_id']?>' name="orderid" id="virtuemart_order_id"></td> <td><input type="hidden" value='<?=$row['virtuemart_product_id']?>' name="productid" id="virtuemart_product_id"></td> <td><?=$row['first_name']?></td> <td><?=$row['address_1']?></td> <td><?=$row['order_item_name']?></td> <td><?=$row['product_quantity']?></td> <td><?=$row['product_final_price'] ?></td> <td><select name='change[<?=$row['virtuemart_order_id']?>]'> <option value='C'> Confirmed</option> <option value='X'> Cancelled</option></select></td> </tr> <?php } ?> </tbody> </table> </fieldset> <fieldset> <table> <tr> <td><input type="submit" value="Update status" name="update status"> </td> </tr> </table> </fieldset> </form> This is the php, using the order id from the form to select the email addresses. <?php $orderid = $_POST['orderid']; // build SQL statement to select email addresses $query3 = "SELECT email from ruj3d_virtuemart_order_userinfos where virtuemart_order_id = '$orderid'"; // execute SQL statement $result3 = mysqli_query($link, $query3) or die(mysqli_error($link)); $subject = "Order confirmed by Home and decor"; $message = "Hello! This is a message to inform that your order has been confirmed"; $from = "[email protected]"; $headers = "From: $from"; while($row3 = mysqli_fetch_array($result3)){ $addresses[] = $row3['email']; } $to = implode(",", $addresses); mail($to, $subject, $message, $headers); ?>

  • Choosing a JavaScript Asynch-Loader

    - by Prisoner ZERO
    I’ve been looking at various asynchronous resource-loaders and I’m not sure which one to use yet. Where I work we have disparate group-efforts whose class-modules may use different versions of jQuery (etc). As such, nested dependencies may differ, as well. I have no control over this, so this means I need to dynamically load resources which may use alternate versions of the same library. As such, here are my requirements: Load JavaScript and CSS resource files asynchronously. Manage dependency-order and nested-dependencies across versions. Detect if a resource is already loaded. Must allow for cross-domain loading (CDN's) (optional) Allow us to unload a resource. I’ve been looking at: Curl RequireJS JavaScriptMVC LABjs I might be able to fake these requirements myself by loading versions into properly-namespaced variables & using an array to track what is already loaded...but (hopefully) someone has already invented this. So my questions are: Which ones do you use? And why? Are there others that my satisfy my requirements fully? Which do you find most eloquent and easiest to work with? And why?

  • MySQL : select/join on strings as fieldnames - is this possible?

    - by Dylan
    I can retrieve all column names from table 'categories' with : SELECT col.column_name FROM information_schema.columns AS col WHERE col.table_schema= database() and col.table_name = "categories" This produces a resultset like this : column_name ----------------- categoryID name description I can retrieve all values for a specific category with : SELECT * FROM categories AS c WHERE c.categoryID=12345 this results in a resultset like this: categoryID | name | description ------------------------------------------------ 12345 | test | this is a test Now I would like to get some kind of join of above selects to get a resultset that looks something like this : fieldname | value ---------------------------------------- categoryID | 12345 name | test description | this is a test Does anyone know if this is possible ? Can you do a join on strings that come from another select ?? The reason for this is that I'm writing a universal stored procedure that outputs all fields + their values from a table, without knowing what fields there are in the table. (The tablename is given in a parameter)

  • Pivot table from multiple spreadsheets

    - by vrao
    I am using excel 2010. I am trying to create pivot table between two worksheets 'Summary' and 'Summary2'. I have identical row of data ranging from cells B5 to F5 in row 5 in both worksheets. Data in the two worksheets looks like this: Summary worksheet: Issues,20,3,4,5 Summary2 worksheet: Issues,10,0,3,9 Worksheet referes to issues from location 1 and worksheet referes to issues from location 2. Col B has title 'issues', Col C refers to issues of customer 1, Col D refers to issues of customer 2, Col E refers to issues of customer 3, Col F refers to issues of customer 4 I go to a third worksheet and start pivot table and in the table range I give this: 'Summary:Summary2'!$B$5:$F$5. Then I Say OK. Gives error "data reference source is not valid". Can someone tell me how to select the row from two different worksheet in pivot table? Also I want to be able to add issues of customers between two locations and get % completion for each locaiton. Can someone please help?

  • On asp:Table Control how do we create a thead ?

    - by balexandre
    from MSDN article on the subject we can see that we create a TableHeaderRowthat conatins TableHeaderCells. but they add the table header like this: myTable.Row.AddAt(0, headerRow); witch outputs the HTML: <table id="Table1" ... > <tr> <th scope="column" abbr="Col 1 Head">Column 1 Header</th> <th scope="column" abbr="Col 2 Head">Column 2 Header</th> <th scope="column" abbr="Col 3 Head">Column 3 Header</th> </tr> <tr> <td>(0,0)</td> <td>(0,1)</td> <td>(0,2)</td> </tr> ... and it should have <thead> and <tbody> (so it works seamless with tablesorter) :) <table id="Table1" ... > <thead> <tr> <th scope="column" abbr="Col 1 Head">Column 1 Header</th> <th scope="column" abbr="Col 2 Head">Column 2 Header</th> <th scope="column" abbr="Col 3 Head">Column 3 Header</th> </tr> </thead> <tbody> <tr> <td>(0,0)</td> <td>(0,1)</td> <td>(0,2)</td> </tr> ... </tbody> the HTML aspx code is <asp:Table ID="Table1" runat="server" /> How can I output the correct syntax? Just as information, the GridViewcontrol has this builed in as we just need to set teh Accesbility and use the HeaderRow gv.UseAccessibleHeader = true; gv.HeaderRow.TableSection = TableRowSection.TableHeader; gv.HeaderRow.CssClass = "myclass"; but the question is for the Table control.

  • matlab: simple matrix filtering - group size

    I have a huuuge matrix storing information about X and Y coordinates of multiple particle trajectories , which in simplified version looks like that: col 1- track number; col 2- frame number; col 2- coordinate X; col 3- coordinate Y for example: A = 1 1 5.14832 3.36128 1 2 5.02768 3.60944 1 3 4.85856 3.81616 1 4 5.17424 4.08384 2 1 2.02928 18.47536 2 2 2.064 18.5464 3 1 8.19648 5.31056 3 2 8.04848 5.33568 3 3 7.82016 5.29088 3 4 7.80464 5.31632 3 5 7.68256 5.4624 3 6 7.62592 5.572 Now I want to filter out trajectories shorter than lets say 2 and keep remaining stuff like (note renumbering of trajectories): B = 1 1 5.14832 3.36128 1 2 5.02768 3.60944 1 3 4.85856 3.81616 1 4 5.17424 4.08384 2 1 8.19648 5.31056 2 2 8.04848 5.33568 2 3 7.82016 5.29088 2 4 7.80464 5.31632 2 5 7.68256 5.4624 2 6 7.62592 5.572 How to do it efficiently? I can think about some ideas using for loop and vertcat, but its the slowest solution ever :/ Thanks!

  • How does Ocaml decide precedence for user-defined operators?

    - by forefinger
    I want nice operators for complex arithmetic to make my code more readable. Ocaml has a Complex module, so I just want to add operators that call those functions. The most intuitive way for me is to make a new complex operator from all of the usual operators by appending '&' to the operator symbol. Thus +& and *& will be complex addition and multiplication. I would also like ~& to be complex conjugation. If I'm going to use these operators, I want them to associate the same way that normal arithmetic associates. Based on the following sessions, they are automatically behaving the way I want, but I would like to understand why, so that I don't get horrible bugs when I introduce more operators. My current guess is that their precedence is done by lexically sorting the operator symbols according to an ordering that is consistent with normal arithmetic precedence. But I cannot confirm this. Session one: # open Complex;; # let (+&) a b = add a b;; val ( +& ) : Complex.t -> Complex.t -> Complex.t = <fun> # let ( *&) a b = mul a b;; val ( *& ) : Complex.t -> Complex.t -> Complex.t = <fun> # one +& zero *& one +& zero *& one;; - : Complex.t = {re = 1.; im = 0.} # zero +& one *& zero +& one *& zero;; - : Complex.t = {re = 0.; im = 0.} # i +& i *& i +& i *& i *& i;; - : Complex.t = {re = -1.; im = 0.} Session two: # open Complex;; # let ( *&) a b = mul a b;; val ( *& ) : Complex.t -> Complex.t -> Complex.t = <fun> # let (+&) a b = add a b;; val ( +& ) : Complex.t -> Complex.t -> Complex.t = <fun> # one +& zero *& one +& zero *& one;; - : Complex.t = {re = 1.; im = 0.} # zero +& one *& zero +& one *& zero;; - : Complex.t = {re = 0.; im = 0.} # i +& i *& i +& i *& i *& i;; - : Complex.t = {re = -1.; im = 0.} # let (~&) a = conj a;; val ( ~& ) : Complex.t -> Complex.t = <fun> # (one +& i) *& ~& (one +& i);; - : Complex.t = {re = 2.; im = 0.}

The idea is to get y value of the monotonic blue curve corresponding to x original value. The grey line should cross three points (the original one "black", the regression estimate "red", the adjusted regression estimate "blue"). Can we do this? Methodology: The object "fit2" is the output of the function rearrangement(). It is always monotonically increasing. library(Rearrangement) fit2 <- rearrangement(x=as.data.frame(x), y=fit1)

  • Understanding Request Validation in ASP.NET MVC 3

    - by imran_ku07
         Introduction:             A fact that you must always remember "never ever trust user inputs". An application that trusts user inputs may be easily vulnerable to XSS, XSRF, SQL Injection, etc attacks. XSS and XSRF are very dangerous attacks. So to mitigate these attacks ASP.NET introduced request validation in ASP.NET 1.1. During request validation, ASP.NET will throw HttpRequestValidationException: 'A potentially dangerous XXX value was detected from the client', if he found, < followed by an exclamation(like <!) or < followed by the letters a through z(like <s) or & followed by a pound sign(like &#123) as a part of query string, posted form and cookie collection. In ASP.NET 4.0, request validation becomes extensible. This means that you can extend request validation. Also in ASP.NET 4.0, by default request validation is enabled before the BeginRequest phase of an HTTP request. ASP.NET MVC 3 moves one step further by making request validation granular. This allows you to disable request validation for some properties of a model while maintaining request validation for all other cases. In this article I will show you the use of request validation in ASP.NET MVC 3. Then I will briefly explain the internal working of granular request validation.       Description:             First of all create a new ASP.NET MVC 3 application. Then create a simple model class called MyModel,     public class MyModel { public string Prop1 { get; set; } public string Prop2 { get; set; } }             Then just update the index action method as follows,   public ActionResult Index(MyModel p) { return View(); }             Now just run this application. You will find that everything works just fine. Now just append this query string ?Prop1=<s to the url of this application, you will get the HttpRequestValidationException exception.           Now just decorate the Index action method with [ValidateInputAttribute(false)],   [ValidateInput(false)] public ActionResult Index(MyModel p) { return View(); }             Run this application again with same query string. You will find that your application run without any unhandled exception.           Up to now, there is nothing new in ASP.NET MVC 3 because ValidateInputAttribute was present in the previous versions of ASP.NET MVC. Any problem with this approach? Yes there is a problem with this approach. The problem is that now users can send html for both Prop1 and Prop2 properties and a lot of developers are not aware of it. This means that now everyone can send html with both parameters(e.g, ?Prop1=<s&Prop2=<s). So ValidateInput attribute does not gives you the guarantee that your application is safe to XSS or XSRF. This is the reason why ASP.NET MVC team introduced granular request validation in ASP.NET MVC 3. Let's see this feature.           Remove [ValidateInputAttribute(false)] on Index action and update MyModel class as follows,   public class MyModel { [AllowHtml] public string Prop1 { get; set; } public string Prop2 { get; set; } }             Note that AllowHtml attribute is only decorated on Prop1 property. Run this application again with ?Prop1=<s query string. You will find that your application run just fine. Run this application again with ?Prop1=<s&Prop2=<s query string, you will get HttpRequestValidationException exception. This shows that the granular request validation in ASP.NET MVC 3 only allows users to send html for properties decorated with AllowHtml attribute.            Sometimes you may need to access Request.QueryString or Request.Form directly. You may change your code as follows,   [ValidateInput(false)] public ActionResult Index() { var prop1 = Request.QueryString["Prop1"]; return View(); }             Run this application again, you will get the HttpRequestValidationException exception again even you have [ValidateInput(false)] on your Index action. The reason is that Request flags are still not set to unvalidate. I will explain this later. For making this work you need to use Unvalidated extension method,     public ActionResult Index() { var q = Request.Unvalidated().QueryString; var prop1 = q["Prop1"]; return View(); }             Unvalidated extension method is defined in System.Web.Helpers namespace . So you need to add using System.Web.Helpers; in this class file. Run this application again, your application run just fine.             There you have it. If you are not curious to know the internal working of granular request validation then you can skip next paragraphs completely. If you are interested then carry on reading.             Create a new ASP.NET MVC 2 application, then open global.asax.cs file and the following lines,     protected void Application_BeginRequest() { var q = Request.QueryString; }             Then make the Index action method as,    [ValidateInput(false)] public ActionResult Index(string id) { return View(); }             Please note that the Index action method contains a parameter and this action method is decorated with [ValidateInput(false)]. Run this application again, but now with ?id=<s query string, you will get HttpRequestValidationException exception at Application_BeginRequest method. Now just add the following entry in web.config,   <httpRuntime requestValidationMode="2.0"/>             Now run this application again. This time your application will run just fine. Now just see the following quote from ASP.NET 4 Breaking Changes,   In ASP.NET 4, by default, request validation is enabled for all requests, because it is enabled before the BeginRequest phase of an HTTP request. As a result, request validation applies to requests for all ASP.NET resources, not just .aspx page requests. This includes requests such as Web service calls and custom HTTP handlers. Request validation is also active when custom HTTP modules are reading the contents of an HTTP request.             This clearly state that request validation is enabled before the BeginRequest phase of an HTTP request. For understanding what does enabled means here, we need to see HttpRequest.ValidateInput, HttpRequest.QueryString and HttpRequest.Form methods/properties in System.Web assembly. Here is the implementation of HttpRequest.ValidateInput, HttpRequest.QueryString and HttpRequest.Form methods/properties in System.Web assembly,     public NameValueCollection Form { get { if (this._form == null) { this._form = new HttpValueCollection(); if (this._wr != null) { this.FillInFormCollection(); } this._form.MakeReadOnly(); } if (this._flags[2]) { this._flags.Clear(2); this.ValidateNameValueCollection(this._form, RequestValidationSource.Form); } return this._form; } } public NameValueCollection QueryString { get { if (this._queryString == null) { this._queryString = new HttpValueCollection(); if (this._wr != null) { this.FillInQueryStringCollection(); } this._queryString.MakeReadOnly(); } if (this._flags[1]) { this._flags.Clear(1); this.ValidateNameValueCollection(this._queryString, RequestValidationSource.QueryString); } return this._queryString; } } public void ValidateInput() { if (!this._flags[0x8000]) { this._flags.Set(0x8000); this._flags.Set(1); this._flags.Set(2); this._flags.Set(4); this._flags.Set(0x40); this._flags.Set(0x80); this._flags.Set(0x100); this._flags.Set(0x200); this._flags.Set(8); } }             The above code indicates that HttpRequest.QueryString and HttpRequest.Form will only validate the querystring and form collection if certain flags are set. These flags are automatically set if you call HttpRequest.ValidateInput method. Now run the above application again(don't forget to append ?id=<s query string in the url) with the same settings(i.e, requestValidationMode="2.0" setting in web.config and Application_BeginRequest method in global.asax.cs), your application will run just fine. Now just update the Application_BeginRequest method as,   protected void Application_BeginRequest() { Request.ValidateInput(); var q = Request.QueryString; }             Note that I am calling Request.ValidateInput method prior to use Request.QueryString property. ValidateInput method will internally set certain flags(discussed above). These flags will then tells the Request.QueryString (and Request.Form) property that validate the query string(or form) when user call Request.QueryString(or Request.Form) property. So running this application again with ?id=<s query string will throw HttpRequestValidationException exception. Now I hope it is clear to you that what does requestValidationMode do. It just tells the ASP.NET that not invoke the Request.ValidateInput method internally before the BeginRequest phase of an HTTP request if requestValidationMode is set to a value less than 4.0 in web.config. Here is the implementation of HttpRequest.ValidateInputIfRequiredByConfig method which will prove this statement(Don't be confused with HttpRequest and Request. Request is the property of HttpRequest class),    internal void ValidateInputIfRequiredByConfig() { ............................................................... ............................................................... ............................................................... ............................................................... if (httpRuntime.RequestValidationMode >= VersionUtil.Framework40) { this.ValidateInput(); } }              Hopefully the above discussion will clear you how requestValidationMode works in ASP.NET 4. It is also interesting to note that both HttpRequest.QueryString and HttpRequest.Form only throws the exception when you access them first time. Any subsequent access to HttpRequest.QueryString and HttpRequest.Form will not throw any exception. Continuing with the above example, just update Application_BeginRequest method in global.asax.cs file as,   protected void Application_BeginRequest() { try { var q = Request.QueryString; var f = Request.Form; } catch//swallow this exception { } var q1 = Request.QueryString; var f1 = Request.Form; }             Without setting requestValidationMode to 2.0 and without decorating ValidateInput attribute on Index action, your application will work just fine because both HttpRequest.QueryString and HttpRequest.Form will clear their flags after reading HttpRequest.QueryString and HttpRequest.Form for the first time(see the implementation of HttpRequest.QueryString and HttpRequest.Form above).           Now let's see ASP.NET MVC 3 granular request validation internal working. First of all we need to see type of HttpRequest.QueryString and HttpRequest.Form properties. Both HttpRequest.QueryString and HttpRequest.Form properties are of type NameValueCollection which is inherited from the NameObjectCollectionBase class. NameObjectCollectionBase class contains _entriesArray, _entriesTable, NameObjectEntry.Key and NameObjectEntry.Value fields which granular request validation uses internally. In addition granular request validation also uses _queryString, _form and _flags fields, ValidateString method and the Indexer of HttpRequest class. Let's see when and how granular request validation uses these fields.           Create a new ASP.NET MVC 3 application. Then put a breakpoint at Application_BeginRequest method and another breakpoint at HomeController.Index method. Now just run this application. When the break point inside Application_BeginRequest method hits then add the following expression in quick watch window, System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Request.QueryString. You will see the following screen,                                              Now Press F5 so that the second breakpoint inside HomeController.Index method hits. When the second breakpoint hits then add the following expression in quick watch window again, System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Request.QueryString. You will see the following screen,                            First screen shows that _entriesTable field is of type System.Collections.Hashtable and _entriesArray field is of type System.Collections.ArrayList during the BeginRequest phase of the HTTP request. While the second screen shows that _entriesTable type is changed to Microsoft.Web.Infrastructure.DynamicValidationHelper.LazilyValidatingHashtable and _entriesArray type is changed to Microsoft.Web.Infrastructure.DynamicValidationHelper.LazilyValidatingArrayList during executing the Index action method. In addition to these members, ASP.NET MVC 3 also perform some operation on _flags, _form, _queryString and other members of HttpRuntime class internally. This shows that ASP.NET MVC 3 performing some operation on the members of HttpRequest class for making granular request validation possible.           Both LazilyValidatingArrayList and LazilyValidatingHashtable classes are defined in the Microsoft.Web.Infrastructure assembly. You may wonder why their name starts with Lazily. The fact is that now with ASP.NET MVC 3, request validation will be performed lazily. In simple words, Microsoft.Web.Infrastructure assembly is now taking the responsibility for request validation from System.Web assembly. See the below screens. The first screen depicting HttpRequestValidationException exception in ASP.NET MVC 2 application while the second screen showing HttpRequestValidationException exception in ASP.NET MVC 3 application.   In MVC 2:                 In MVC 3:                          The stack trace of the second screenshot shows that Microsoft.Web.Infrastructure assembly (instead of System.Web assembly) is now performing request validation in ASP.NET MVC 3. Now you may ask: where Microsoft.Web.Infrastructure assembly is performing some operation on the members of HttpRequest class. There are at least two places where the Microsoft.Web.Infrastructure assembly performing some operation , Microsoft.Web.Infrastructure.DynamicValidationHelper.GranularValidationReflectionUtil.GetInstance method and Microsoft.Web.Infrastructure.DynamicValidationHelper.ValidationUtility.CollectionReplacer.ReplaceCollection method, Here is the implementation of these methods,   private static GranularValidationReflectionUtil GetInstance() { try { if (DynamicValidationShimReflectionUtil.Instance != null) { return null; } GranularValidationReflectionUtil util = new GranularValidationReflectionUtil(); Type containingType = typeof(NameObjectCollectionBase); string fieldName = "_entriesArray"; bool isStatic = false; Type fieldType = typeof(ArrayList); _reflectionUtil.SetNameObjectCollectionEntriesArray(target, list); fieldAccessor.Value = target; } }             Hopefully the above code will help you to understand the internal working of granular request validation. It is also important to note that Microsoft.Web.Infrastructure assembly invokes HttpRequest.ValidateInput method internally. For further understanding please see Microsoft.Web.Infrastructure assembly code. Finally you may ask: at which stage ASP NET MVC 3 will invoke these methods. You will find this answer by looking at the following method source,   Unvalidated extension method for HttpRequest class defined in System.Web.Helpers.Validation class. System.Web.Mvc.MvcHandler.ProcessRequestInit method. System.Web.Mvc.ControllerActionInvoker.ValidateRequest method. System.Web.WebPages.WebPageHttpHandler.ProcessRequestInternal method.       Summary:             ASP.NET helps in preventing XSS attack using a feature called request validation. In this article, I showed you how you can use granular request validation in ASP.NET MVC 3. I explain you the internal working of  granular request validation. • Tetris Movement - Implementation

    - by James Brauman
    Hi gamedev, I'm developing a Tetris clone and working on the input at the moment. When I was prototyping, movement was triggered by releasing a directional key. However, in most Tetris games I've played the movement is a bit more complex. When a directional key is pressed, the shape moves one space in that direction. After a short interval, if the key is still held down, the shape starts moving in the direction continuously until the key is released. In the case of the down key being pressed, there is no pause between the initial movement and the subsequent continuous movement. I've come up with a solution, and it works well, but it's totally over-engineered. Hey, at least I can recognize when things are getting silly, right? :) public class TetrisMover { List registeredKeys; Dictionary continuousPressedTime; Dictionary totalPressedTime; Dictionary initialIntervals; Dictionary continousIntervals; Dictionary keyActions; Dictionary initialActionDone; KeyboardState currentKeyboardState; public TetrisMover() { *snip* } public void Update(GameTime gameTime) { currentKeyboardState = Keyboard.GetState(); foreach (Keys currentKey in registeredKeys) { if (currentKeyboardState.IsKeyUp(currentKey)) { continuousPressedTime[currentKey] = TimeSpan.Zero; totalPressedTime[currentKey] = TimeSpan.Zero; initialActionDone[currentKey] = false; } else { if (initialActionDone[currentKey] == false) { keyActions[currentKey](); initialActionDone[currentKey] = true; } totalPressedTime[currentKey] += gameTime.ElapsedGameTime; if (totalPressedTime[currentKey] = initialIntervals[currentKey]) { continuousPressedTime[currentKey] += gameTime.ElapsedGameTime; if (continuousPressedTime[currentKey] = continousIntervals[currentKey]) { keyActions[currentKey](); continuousPressedTime[currentKey] = TimeSpan.Zero; } } } } } public void RegisterKey(Keys key, TimeSpan initialInterval, TimeSpan continuousInterval, Action keyAction) { if (registeredKeys.Contains(key)) throw new InvalidOperationException( string.Format("The key %s is already registered.", key)); registeredKeys.Add(key); continuousPressedTime.Add(key, TimeSpan.Zero); totalPressedTime.Add(key, TimeSpan.Zero); initialIntervals.Add(key, initialInterval); continousIntervals.Add(key, continuousInterval); keyActions.Add(key, keyAction); initialActionDone.Add(key, false); } public void UnregisterKey(Keys key) { *snip* } } I'm updating it every frame, and this is how I'm registering keys for movement: tetrisMover.RegisterKey( Keys.Left, keyHoldStartSpecialInterval, keyHoldMovementInterval, () = { Move(Direction.Left); }); tetrisMover.RegisterKey( Keys.Right, keyHoldStartSpecialInterval, keyHoldMovementInterval, () = { Move(Direction.Right); }); tetrisMover.RegisterKey( Keys.Down, TimeSpan.Zero, keyHoldMovementInterval, () = { PerformGravity(); }); Issues that this doesn't address: If both left and right are held down, the shape moves back and forth really quick. If a directional key is held down and the turn finishes and the shape is replaced by a new one, the new one will move quickly in that direction instead of the little pause it is supposed to have. I could fix the issues, but I think it will make the solution even worse. How would you implement this?

    - by zero
    Hello dear commmunity, good day! I run a little site (now for several months ) that has users accessing big files, for download as well for streaming to the browser. It's fairly active, so assuming the worst, how bad is getting php to read the files that would be stored outside of the webroot and then getting it to echo it to a page dynamically for the browser to then read? My question is: how bad is fread() etc in this context!? zero

FAILED [LOW] LowMaxReadReq: Test 1, 2 devices have low MaxReadReq settings. Firmware may have configured these too low. ADVICE: The MaxReadRequest size is set too low and will affect performance. It will provide excellent bus sharing at the cost of bus data transfer rates. Although not a critical issue, it may be worth considering setting the MaxReadRequest size to 256 or 512 to increase throughput on the PCI Express bus. Some drivers (for example the Brocade Fibre Channel driver) allow one to override the firmware settings. Where possible, this BIOS configuration setting is worth increasing it a little more for better performance at a small reduction of bus sharing. ==================================================================================================== PCIe ASPM check. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Test 1 of 2: PCIe ASPM ACPI test. • SQL CE 3.5 and the ‘SELECT TOP’ Query

    - by stevewarren
    Finally! SQL CE 3.5 now supports the ‘TOP’ keyword. However, there is a trick to this: you must surround the number with parenthesis. For example, in regular T-SQL you would write SELECT TOP N [col] FROM [table] However, in SQL CE 3.5 you must write SELECT TOP (N) [col] FROM [table]

  • Why is Spritebatch drawing my Textures out of order?

    - by Andrew
    I just started working with XNA Studio after programming 2D games in java. Because of this, I have absolutely no experience with Spritebatch and sprite sorting. In java, I could just layer the images by calling the draw methods in order. For a while, my Spritebatch was working fine in deferred sorting mode, but when I made a change to one of my textures, it suddenly started drawing them out of order. I have searched for a solution to this problem, but nothing seems to work. I have tried adding layer depths to the sprites and changing the sort mode to BackToFront or FrontToBack or even immediate, but nothing seems to work. Here is my drawing code: protected override void Draw(GameTime gameTime) { GraphicsDevice.Clear(Color.Gray); Game1.spriteBatch.Begin(SpriteSortMode.Deferred, BlendState.AlphaBlend, SamplerState.PointClamp, null, null); for (int x = 0; x < 5; x++) { for (int y = 0; y < 5; y++) { region[x, y].draw(((float)w / aw)); // Draws the Tile-Based background } } player.draw(spriteBatch, ((float)w / aw));//draws the character (This method is where the problem occurs) enemy.draw(spriteBatch, (float)w/aw); // draws a basic enemy Game1.spriteBatch.End(); base.Draw(gameTime); } player.draw method: public void draw(SpriteBatch sb, float ratio){ //draws the player base (The character without hair or equipment) sb.Draw(playerbase[0], new Rectangle((int)(pos.X - (24 * ratio)), (int)(pos.Y - (48 * ratio)), (int)(48 * ratio), (int)(48 * ratio)), new Rectangle(orientation * 48, animFrame * 48, 48, 48), Color.White,0,Vector2.Zero,SpriteEffects.None,0); //draws the player's hair sb.Draw(playerbase[3], new Rectangle((int)(pos.X - (24 * ratio)), (int)(pos.Y - (48 * ratio)), (int)(48 * ratio), (int)(48 * ratio)), new Rectangle(orientation * 48, animFrame * 48, 48, 48), Color.White, 0, Vector2.Zero, SpriteEffects.None, 0); //draws the player's shirt sb.Draw(equipment[0], new Rectangle((int)(pos.X - (24 * ratio)), (int)(pos.Y - (48 * ratio)), (int)(48 * ratio), (int)(48 * ratio)), new Rectangle(orientation * 48, animFrame * 48, 48, 48), Color.White, 0, Vector2.Zero, SpriteEffects.None, 0); //draws the player's pants sb.Draw(equipment[1], new Rectangle((int)(pos.X - (24 * ratio)), (int)(pos.Y - (48 * ratio)), (int)(48 * ratio), (int)(48 * ratio)), new Rectangle(orientation * 48, animFrame * 48, 48, 48), Color.White, 0, Vector2.Zero, SpriteEffects.None, 0); //draws the player's shoes sb.Draw(equipment[2], new Rectangle((int)(pos.X - (24 * ratio)), (int)(pos.Y - (48 * ratio)), (int)(48 * ratio), (int)(48 * ratio)), new Rectangle(orientation * 48, animFrame * 48, 48, 48), Color.White, 0, Vector2.Zero, SpriteEffects.None, 0); } the game has a top-down perspective much like the early legend of zelda games. It draws sections of the texture depending on which direction the character is facing and the animation frame. However, instead of drawing the character in the order the draw methods are called, it ends up drawing the character out of order. Please help me with this problem.

  • Macro doesn't work in the function.

    - by avp
    I have problems with following code: http://lisper.ru/apps/format/96 The problem is in "normalize" function, which does not work. It fails on the fifth line: (zero-p a indexes i) (defun normalize (a &optional indexes i) "Returns normalized A." (pragma (format t "Data=~A ~A ~A" a indexes i) (if (zero-p a indexes i) a ;; cannot normalize empty vector (let* ((mmm (format t "Zero?=~a" (zero-p a indexes i))) (L (sqrt (+ (do-op-on * a :x a :x indexes i indexes i) (do-op-on * a :y a :y indexes i indexes i) (do-op-on * a :z a :z indexes i indexes i)))) (mmm (format t "L=~a" L)) (L (/ 1D0 L)) (mmm (format t "L=~a" L))) ; L=1/length(A) (make-V3 (* (ref-of a :x indexes i) l) (* (ref-of a :y indexes i) l) (* (ref-of a :z indexes i) l)))))) in function "normalize" I call the macro "zero-p", which in turn calls macro "ref-of", which is the last in the chain. (defmacro zero-p (v &optional indexes index) "Checks if the vector is 'almost' zero length." `(and (< (ref-of ,v :x ,indexes ,index) *min+*) (< (ref-of ,v :y ,indexes ,index) *min+*) (< (ref-of ,v :z ,indexes ,index) *min+*) (> (ref-of ,v :x ,indexes ,index) *min-*) (> (ref-of ,v :y ,indexes ,index) *min-*) (> (ref-of ,v :z ,indexes ,index) *min-*))) Here is ref-of: (defmacro ref-of (values coordinate &optional indexes index) "Please see DATA STRUCTURE for details." (if indexes (cond ((eq coordinate :x) `(aref ,values (aref ,indexes ,index))) ((eq coordinate :y) `(aref ,values (+ 1 (aref ,indexes ,index)))) ((eq coordinate :z) `(aref ,values (+ 2 (aref ,indexes ,index)))) (T (error "The symbol ~S is not :X, :Y or :Z." coordinate))) (cond ((eq coordinate :x) `(aref ,values 0)) ((eq coordinate :y) `(aref ,values 1)) ((eq coordinate :z) `(aref ,values 2)) (T (error "The symbol ~S is not :X, :Y or :Z." coordinate))))) Also, in "normalize" I call the macro "do-op-on", which calls "ref-of" as well. (defmacro do-op-on (op name1 coord1 name2 coord2 &optional is1 i1 is2 i2) "Example: (do-op-on * A :x B :y i n) == A[i[n]].x*B.y" `(,op (ref-of ,name1 ,coord1 ,is1 ,i1) (ref-of ,name2 ,coord2 ,is2 ,i2))) As a result, instead of having this: (aref some-array 0) I have (aref NIL NIL) which is created in "ref-of". I suppose that I lose the symbol A from the call (normalize A). I just feel that the symbol does not survive the macroexpanson. The thing is, macroexpansoin works in REPL for each macro independently. Can anyone explain where is the mistake?

  • OCZ Vertex 3 SSD boot failure

    - by Col Zero
    Ok, so I just purchased and received a 120GB OCZ Vertex 3. I had Windows 7 on an .ISO file on my computer. I formatted a USB stick and configured it to be read as a CD so that I could install windows onto my SSD from it. I started my comp, had the boot priority set to my USB, starting installing windows 7 to my SSD. And out of no where (I wasn't watching) my computer restarted and it brought me back to the beginning of the Windows 7 set-up. So I turned my computer off and booted it up from the SSD to see if it had installed onto the SSD. The first 2 attempts I had a disk boot failure. So I plugged my hard drive back in, started my computer, turned it off, plugged the SSD back in (literally) and it booted up fine/ Finalized windows got internet set up, and Windows had updates that required a restart. So I restarted and had another disk boot failure. Now I have a disk boot failure every time I try to start my computer up through my SSD. Extra Info: My SSD has never been able to be detected in my BIOS unless my Hard Drive was unplugged (eve then my BIOS didn't always detect it). MY SSD wasn't detected in my BIOS the first and only time it successfully booted up. My SSD literally boots up successfully randomly (only once unfortunately) and is detected in my BIOS randomly. I've tried switching cords etc and nothing has worked. I just want to get this damn thing running so I can see whats its like. I finally found a way to get the OS on this sucker and now it won't even boot up. Any help appreciated
