  • Perl, share package variable without Export

    - by Mike
I'm creating a group of Perl scripts, and I would like to have one package store a group of constants. I don't want to export them using Exporter because there will be quite a few and I don't want to pollute the namespace. Since there will be so many, I don't want to require the user to be forced to manually specify which they will be using. I think the best way to just use the packagename::var syntax, however it doesn't seem to be working as I expect it to. I illustrate this problem in the below code This is settings.pm, the module that will hold the global settings #!/usr/bin/perl #settings.pm use strict; use warnings; package settings; our $foo="hello world"; 1; Below is the main script #!/usr/bin/perl #script.pl use strict; use warnings; use settings; print settings::$foo; It gives this error message instead or printing hello world Bad name after settings:: at ./script.pl line 8.

  • Matplotlib PDF export uses wrong font

    - by Konrad Rudolph
I want to generate high-quality diagrams for a presentation. I’m using Python’s matplotlib to generate the graphics. Unfortunately, the PDF export seems to ignore my font settings. I tried setting the font both by passing a FontProperties object to the text drawing functions and by setting the option globally. For the record, here is a MWE to reproduce the problem: import scipy import matplotlib matplotlib.use('cairo') import matplotlib.pylab as pylab import matplotlib.font_manager as fm data = scipy.arange(5) for font in ['Helvetica', 'Gill Sans']: fig = pylab.figure() ax = fig.add_subplot(111) ax.bar(data, data) ax.set_xticks(data) ax.set_xticklabels(data, fontproperties = fm.FontProperties(family = font)) pylab.savefig('foo-%s.pdf' % font) In both cases, the produced output is identical and uses Helvetica (and yes, I do have both fonts installed). Just to be sure, the following doesn’t help either: matplotlib.rc('font', family = 'Gill Sans') Finally, if I replace the backend, instead using the native viewer: matplotlib.use('MacOSX') I do get the correct font displayed – but only in the viewer GUI. The PDF output is once again wrong. To be sure – I can set other fonts – but only other classes of font families: I can set serif fonts or fantasy or monospace. But all sans-serif fonts seem to default to Helvetica.

  • SVN checkout or export for production environment?

    - by Eran Galperin
In a project I am working on, we have an ongoing discussion amongst the dev team - should the production environment be deployed as a checkout from the SVN repository or as an export? The development environment is obviously a checkout, since it is constantly updated. For the production, I'm personally for checking out the main trunk, since it makes future updates easier (just run svn update). However some of the devs are against it, as svn creates files with the group/owner and permissions of the svn process (this is on a linux OS, so those things matter), and also having the .svn directories on the production seem to them to be somewhat dirty. Also, if it is a checkout - how do you push individual features to the production without including in-development code? do you use tags or branch out for each feature? any alternatives? EDIT: I might not have been clear - one of the requirement is to be able to constantly be able to push fixes to the production environment. We want to avoid a complete build (which takes much longer than a simple update) just for pushing critical fixes.

  • How to export Oracle statistics

    - by A_M
Hi, I am writing some new SQL queries and want to check the query plans that the Oracle query optimiser would come up with in production. My development database doesn't have anything like the data volumes of the production database. How can I export database statistics from a production database and re-import them into a development database? I don't have access to the production database, so I can't simply generate explain plans on production without going through a third party hosting organisation. This is painful. So I want a local database which is in some way representative of production on which I can try out different things. Also, this is for a legacy application. I'd like to "improve" the schema, by adding appropriate indexes. constraints, etc. I need to do this in my development database first, before rolling out to test and production. If I add an index and re-generate statistics in development, then the statistics will be generated around the development data volumes, which makes it difficult to assess the impact my changes on production. Does anyone have any tips on how to deal with this? Or is it just a case of fixing unexpected behaviour once we've discovered it on production? I do have a staging database with production volumes, but again I have to go through a third party to run queries against this, which is painful. So I'm looking for ways to cut out the middle man as much as possible. All this is using Oracle 9i. Thanks.

  • Rails - CSV export: prompt for file download

    - by Pierre
Hello, I want to give my users the ability to export a table to CSV. So in my controller, I've added on top of the file: respond_to :html, :js, :csv I'm also setting the headers if the requested format is csv: if params[:format] == 'csv' generate_csv_headers("negotiations-#{Time.now.strftime("%Y%m%d")}") end Code for generate_csv_headers(in application_controller) is: def generate_csv_headers(filename) headers.merge!({ 'Cache-Control' => 'must-revalidate, post-check=0, pre-check=0', 'Content-Type' => 'text/csv', 'Content-Disposition' => "attachment; filename=\"#{filename}\"", 'Content-Transfer-Encoding' => 'binary' }) end I've also created a view named index.csv.erb to generate my file: <%- headers = ["Id", "Name"] -%> <%= CSV.generate_line headers %> <%- @negotiations.each do |n| -%> <%- row = [ n.id, n.name ] -%> <%= CSV.generate_line row %> <%- end -%> I don't have any error, but it simply displays the content of the CSV file, while I'd expect a prompt from the browser to download the file. I've read a lot, but could not find anything that'd work. Do you have an idea? thanks, p.

  • Export sheet from Excel to CSV

    - by Mike Wills
I am creating a spread sheet to help ease the entry of data into one of our systems. They are entering inventory items into this spread sheet to calculate the unit cost of the item (item cost + tax + S&H). The software we purchased cannot do this. Aan invoice can have one or more lines (duh!) and I calculate the final unit cost. This is working fine. I then want to take that data and create a CSV from that so they can load it into our inventory system. I currently have a second tab that is laid out like I want the CSV, and I do an equal cell (=Sheet!A3) to get the values on the "export sheet". The problem is when they save this to a CSV, there are many blank lines that need to be deleted before they can upload it. I want a file that only contains the data that is needed. I am sure this could be done in VBA, but I don't know where to start or know how to search for an example to start. Any direction or other options would be appreciated.

  • MEF: Satisfy part on an Export using and Export from the composed part.

    - by Pop Catalin
Hi, I have the following scenario in Silverlight 4: I have a notifications service Snippet [InheritedExport] public interface INotificationsService : IObservable<ReceivedNotification> { void IssueNotifications(IEnumerable<ClientIssuedNotification> notifications); } and and implementation of this service Snippet [PartCreationPolicy(CreationPolicy.NonShared)] public class ClientNotificationService : INotificationsService { [Import] IPlugin Plugin { get; set; } ... } How can I say to MEF that the Plugin property of the ClientNotificationService must be provided by the importing class that imports the INotificationsService. For example: Snippet public class Client { [Export] IPlugin Current { get; set; } [Import] INotificationService NotificationService; } How can I say that I want MEF to satisfy the ClientNotificationService.Plugin part with the exported IPlugin by the Client class. Basically I want the NotificationService, to receive a Unique ID provided by the importing class, whenever it is created and composed to a new class, or if there's and alternative method, like using meta data to do this I'd appreciate any insights. I've been struggling with this for a while. Thanks

  • DLL Export C/C++ 6.00 function invoked by VB6

    - by nashth
Hi all, I have been attemptng to create a DLL with C/C++ that can be accessed by VB6, and that's right I get error "453 Can't find DLL entry point myFunctionName in myDllName.dll" upon calling the function from a VB6 app. After searching the Web, including this site, I see that I am not alone, and I have tried the various solutions posted but error "453" is unexcapable. This is Not a COMM dll, and I believe that is possible when created via C/C++. In any case, please help, if you can. Please refer to the following simple test case below: The DLL created as a C/C++ 6.00 Win32 Dynamic-Link Library: #include // Note that I did try the line below rather than the def file, but to no avail... // #pragma comment(linker, "/EXPORT:ibask32=_ibask32@0") // Function definition extern "C" int __declspec(dllexport) __stdcall ibask32() { MessageBox(NULL,"String","Sample Code", NULL); return 0L; } The def file: LIBRARY "Gpib-32" EXPORTS ibask32 Now for the VB App: The following is the entire content of the startup Form1, Form_Load Option Explicit Private Sub Form_Load() Call ibask End Sub The following is a BAS module file that is added to the project: Option Explicit Declare Function ibask32 Lib "Gpib-32.dll" Alias "ibask" () As Long Sub ibask() Call ibask32 ' Note: This is the point of failure End Sub Thanks in advance if a workable solution can be provided, Tom

  • export to csv using fastercsv and CSV::Writer (Ruby on Rails)

    - by Venkat
What am I trying to do: export data to csv. I have a form which allows user to select the format (from a drop down menu). So based on the selection of the format the ouput is displayed using a ajax call. Works fine for html but when I select the format as csv I don't see any pop up on the screen (asking to save or open the file) and neither any file gets downloaded directly. I tried using Fastercsv (but the problem is that I don't see any pop up asking me whether I want to save or open the file) and CSV::Writer where I get this error message on the console. NoMethodError (You have a nil object when you didn't expect it! The error occurred while evaluating nil.bytesize): actionpack (2.3.4) lib/action_controller/streaming.rb:142:in `send_data' Code using Fastercsv: def export_to_csv csv_string = FasterCSV.generate(:col_sep => ",") do |csv| members = ["Versions / Project Members"] members_selected.each {|member| members << Stat.member_name(member)} Stat.project_members(project).each {|user| members << user.name} csv << ["some text", "text 2", "text 3"] end return csv_string end and this is how I am sending the data: send_data(export_to_csv,:type => 'text/csv; charset=iso-8859-1; header=present', :disposition => "attachment", :filename => "filename.csv") I see the response as "some text, text 2, text 3" in the firebug console but no pop up asking whether I want to save or open the file. This is what I am doing using CSV::Writer: def export_to_csv report = StringIO.new CSV::Writer.generate(report, ',') do |csv| csv << ['c1', 'c2'] end end and call it as: send_data(export_to_csv,:type => 'text/csv; charset=iso-8859-1; header=present', :disposition => "attachment", :filename => "filename.csv") This is the error which is thrown on the console: NoMethodError (You have a nil object when you didn't expect it! The error occurred while evaluating nil.bytesize): actionpack (2.3.4) lib/action_controller/streaming.rb:142:in `send_data'

  • Microsoft Word Macro - Exporting Word Review Comments - How do you reference the sentence related to

    - by jspeaks
I am trying to export of a Word document review comments. I want to export the sentence selection that was commented on followed by the comment. Screen shot of the image: http://jspeaks.com/mswordcomment.png I have found code to loop through the document comments, but I cannot figure out how to reference the sentence selection that the comment was related to. The current logic is: Sub ExportComments() Dim s As String Dim cmt As Word.Comment Dim doc As Word.Document For Each cmt In ActiveDocument.Comments s = s & cmt.Initial & cmt.Index & "," & cmt.Range.Text & vbCr Next Set doc = Documents.Add doc.Range.Text = s End Sub I tinkered with Selection.Range, however I cannot determine the proper object or property that contains the referenced sentence. I would like to produce output like the follow (if we use the example in picture above): Sentence: Here are more sentences that contain interesting facts - Comment: This is an interesting fact. Sentence: Here are more sentences that contain interesting facts. Here are more sentences that contain interesting facts. - Comment: This is a very interesting fact

  • Exporting database from external server (without SSH access)

    - by Derek Carlisle
Our current website is hosted by the design agency who originally built the website, however we are bringing the development of the website in house therefore need to export the database from their server and import it to ours. We have FTP and phpMyAdmin access but don't have SSH access to the server. I was hoping to run a PHP script that would mysql dump the database, compress it and then copy it across to our server using scp: $backupFile = $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'].'/backup' . date("Y-m-d-H-i-s") . '.gz'; system("mysqldump -h DB_HOST -u DB_USER -pDB_PASS DB_NAME | gzip > $backupFile"); exec("sshpass -p PASSWORD scp -r -P PORT_NUMBER $backupFile [email protected]:/path/to/directory/"); I have ran this locally from the command line and it worked fine, although I had to install sshpass (the hosting server might not have this installed). Also, I was hoping to run it from the browser as I don't have command line access on the hosting server, however it didn't work, no errors produced though. Can you anyone recommend how I can export from the server that I don't have SSH access to and import to my server? Thanks

  • Unable to run JAR file (created in Eclipse)

    - by Trist
I hate starting a post with this but I'm new to Java... I've followed this tutorial to create a socket server (mines in Eclipse). I can run the server within Eclipse, all is well. But when I try to export the project I can't figure out how to run it. I keep getting this error (it varies depending on how I run it) Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: xsocketserver/Main Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: xsocketserver.Main at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:200) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:188) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:315) at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:330) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:250) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClassInternal(ClassLoader.java:398) I've read this problem relates to class paths being set. I've tried the following: java -cp libs/xSocket-2.8.12.jar xsocketserver.Main java -jar xSocketServer.jar java -classpath xSocketServer:xSocketServer/libs/xSocket-2.8.12.jar xsocketserver.Main plus many others. The file structure within the JAR is as follows: xSocketServer.jar -> xsocketserver -> Main.class -> xSocketDataHandler.class -> META-INF -> MANIFEST.MF -> libs -> xSocket-2.8.12.jar Incidentally I've tried adding my own manifest file which contains the Class-Path but when I check it it always reads: Manifest-Version: 1.0 Main-Class: xsocketserver.Main I'm guessing this is a common problem based on the number of hits I've seen in Google but I can't fathom what I'm doing wrong. Wrong Export settings maybe??

  • Exporting to CSV/Excel in Java

    - by WIOijwww
    I'm trying to export data into a CSV file through Java and I've got some code to do it but it doesn't seem to be outputting the CSV file. Could someone tell me what's wrong? What I would like to do is rather than saving the file somewhere, I would like it to be directly exported to the user. EDIT: Just in case it's not clear, I don't want the file to be saved anywhere but would like it to be outputted automatically to the user i.e. they click export and get the "Run/Save results.csv" window and they open the file. Currently the file is getting saved so I know that the method seems to work, just in the opposite way that I want it to. public static void writeToCSV(List<Map> objectList) { String CSV_SEPARATOR = ","; try { BufferedWriter bw = new BufferedWriter(new OutputStreamWriter( new FileOutputStream("results.csv"), "UTF-8")); for (Map objectDetails : objectList) { StringBuffer oneLine = new StringBuffer(); Iterator it = objectDetails.values().iterator(); while (it.hasNext()) { Object value = it.next(); if(value !=null){ oneLine.append(value.toString()); } if (it.hasNext()) { oneLine.append(CSV_SEPARATOR); } } bw.write(oneLine.toString()); bw.newLine(); } bw.flush(); bw.close(); } catch (UnsupportedEncodingException e) { } catch (FileNotFoundException e) { } catch (IOException e) { } }

  • Problem with LINQ Generated class and IEnumerable to Excel

    - by mehmet6parmak
Hi all, I wrote a method which exports values to excel file from an IEnumerable parameter. Method worked fine for my little test class and i was happy till i test my method with a LINQ class. Method: public static void IEnumerableToExcel<T>(IEnumerable<T> data, HttpResponse Response) { Response.Clear(); Response.ContentEncoding = System.Text.Encoding.Default; Response.Charset = "windows-1254"; // set MIME type to be Excel file. Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel;charset=windows-1254"; // add a header to response to force download (specifying filename) Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment;filename=\"ResultFile.xls\""); Type typeOfT = typeof(T); List<string> result = new List<string>(); FieldInfo[] fields = typeOfT.GetFields(); foreach (FieldInfo info in fields) { result.Add(info.Name); } Response.Write(String.Join("\t", result.ToArray()) + "\n"); foreach (T t in data) { result.Clear(); foreach (FieldInfo f in fields) result.Add((typeOfT).GetField(f.Name).GetValue(t).ToString()); Response.Write(String.Join("\t", result.ToArray()) + "\n"); } Response.End(); } My Little Test Class: public class Mehmet { public string FirstName; public string LastName; } Two Usage: Success: Mehmet newMehmet = new Mehmet(); newMehmet.FirstName = "Mehmet"; newMehmet.LastName = "Altiparmak"; List<Mehmet> list = new List<Mehmet>(); list.Add(newMehmet); DeveloperUtility.Export.IEnumerableToExcel<Mehmet>(list, Response); Fail: ExtranetDataContext db = new ExtranetDataContext(); DeveloperUtility.Export.IEnumerableToExcel<User>(db.Users, Response); Fail Reason: When the code reaches the code block used to get the fields of the template(T), it can not find any field for the LINQ Generated User class. For my weird class it works fine. Why? Thanks...

  • Formatting a CSV File that contains HTML for Import to Excel

    - by Dave
I would like to export a CSV file from my application for importing into Excel (or any other spreadsheet that supports CSV files). Anyhow, one of the cells in my table have rich content (i.e. HTML) which can, of course, contain commas as well as other HTML characters and formatting. I realize that Excel "can" handle HTML formatted text, but exporting it as CSV tends to screw up the data for importing. Is there some particular way I can format that particular cell so that imports correctly?

I'm trying to make a game in java, but I'm a bit of a newb. The game has images, and when I run the application from eclipse, they all show up fine. But when I export the project as an application, the images don't show up. When I put the application in the same folder as the images, they show up when I run the application, so someone suggested that I just need to put the image files inside my JAR. Can someone tell me how? Thank you

  • netsh wlan add profile not importing passphrase

    - by sirlancelot
I exported a wireless network connection profile from a Windows 7 machine correctly connected to a WiFi network with a WPA-TKIP passphrase. The exported xml file shows the correct settings and a keyMaterial node which I can only guess is the encrypted passphrase. When I take the xml to another Windows 7 computer and import it using netsh wlan add profile filename="WiFi.xml", it correctly adds the profile's SSID and encryption type, but a balloon pops up saying that I need to enter the passphrase. Is there a way to import the passphrase along with all other settings or am I missing something about adding profiles? Here is the exported xml with personal information removed: <?xml version="1.0"?> <WLANProfile xmlns="http://www.microsoft.com/networking/WLAN/profile/v1"> <name>[removed]</name> <SSIDConfig> <SSID> <hex>[removed]</hex> <name>[removed]</name> </SSID> <nonBroadcast>false</nonBroadcast> </SSIDConfig> <connectionType>ESS</connectionType> <connectionMode>auto</connectionMode> <autoSwitch>false</autoSwitch> <MSM> <security> <authEncryption> <authentication>WPAPSK</authentication> <encryption>TKIP</encryption> <useOneX>false</useOneX> </authEncryption> <sharedKey> <keyType>passPhrase</keyType> <protected>true</protected> <keyMaterial>[removed]</keyMaterial> </sharedKey> </security> </MSM> </WLANProfile> Any help or advice is appreciated. • PowerPoint save group as picture creates asymmetric edge, how to fix?

    - by Se Norm
I created tons of figures for my thesis in PowerPoint and now I realized that when I try to save the grouped items (= one figure) as a picture (EMF), it somehow asymmetrically adds a border on the left and the bottom. First one is original group, second is the same pasted as a picture. Original group: Pasted as a picture: Does anyone have an idea how to fix that for a huge number of figures? I think it only started happening when I used a page size of 1m x 1m in PowerPoint to be able to zoom in more for some figures. However, I cannot not simply change the page size now as it messes up font and object sizes. Also, copying it into a smaller page and then saving as EMF doesn't do the trick. Maybe it is not related to the page size after all. Cropping every figure individually would be a lot of work, so I hope there is a different solution. I found the origin of the problem: the text label in the left bottom corner of each image (0s, 8s, 16s). I still do not understand why it is happening though, since the text label does not expand over the edge of the image (it was aligned using the align left function). It would still be great if there was an easy way to fix this, especially as I want to keep the text where it is.
