• Remote Desktop Zooming

  Using Remote Desktop from a device with a hi-res screen (say, a Surface Pro) is decidedly tricky - as everything displays 1:1 scale and so looks tiny. If the machine you are remoting into runs Server 2008 R2 or later, you can change the dpi zooming setting (see here). But for older hosts, that doesn't work. Using normal Remote Desktop, you can connect with a lower resolution, say 1280x768, and turn on smart-sizing. However smart-sizing can scale down (to display a huge desktop in a small area) but does not seem to scale up (to display a small desktop in a big area). Using the Windows 8 Remote Desktop App, you can zoom - but you cannot set the default resolution of the host. What I want is a lower resolution in the host, scaled up to fit my screen. So both of those are close to what I want, but dont quite work. So question is: Does the Remote Desktop App allow screen resolution to be set somehow? Is there some other Remote Desktop client that can handle zooming better?

  created a Virtual machine using VMware. The VM is on and i succeeded to login and work on it with the Vmware console. now i want to use the "remote desktop connection" to connect to it. i enabled the remote access on the home premium Win7 that i installed on the VM. in the Remote Desktop i entered the ip (same network (home network))). it just won't connect. i also disabled the firewall on the Win7 , but it still won;t connect. i have another VM with the same Win7 that remote desktop works fine with.

  hi. im looking for a small utility that can copy files over to/from remote windows hosts, and which can take the credentials (domain user and password) as part of its command line, similar to psexec. i know i can use net use to map the target directory to a drive letter and use xcopy, and i know psexec can upload files to be executed on the remote machine and then delete them, but im looking for a small utility to distribute files to remote hosts that will not be as awkward to use as net use + xcopy

  Have a system with Win8 within Domain A and remote has been enabled in that. Users from Domain A are able to login reomtely using admin credentials. how ever using the same credentials users from Domain B Domain C & Domain D are not able to login. Is there any setting that needs to be done so that users from other 3 domains are able to access the system either using the system admin account or using their login (added in remote desktop users account in the remote machine) Any suggestion will be helpful

• Taskbar Disappears Over Remote Desktop Connection When Outside Local Network

  I've got a machine on my home network running Windows Server 2012 (Based on Win8) and rather than attach a monitor I remote desktop in and it works fine on my local network. The problem is, when I try to access it from outside my local network the taskbar disappears completely. When I minimize an application rather than minimize to the taskbar it simply closes the window as small as it can as if the taskbar never existed (see photos at ). I've messed with the connection properties (show/hide desktop background, etc.) with no luck. I've used the following methods to remote in and they all are fine when on the local network and taskbar-less from outside: Remote Desktop Connection on Mac Remote Desktop Connection on Windows Jump Desktop on iOS using RDP To access the computer from outside my local network I'm using a Linksys router and mapping to the server IP, port 3389. • Remote Desktop closes with Fatal Error (Error Code: 5)

  We have one PC (Windows XP SP3) that we can not log onto using a Remote Desktop session. Logging on to the PC directly (sitting in front of it using the connected keyboard and monitor) work fine. From a second PC (tried a number of different ones but all Windows XP SP3) I run 'mstsc' and type in PC name to connect to. This shows the login box which we can enter the correct login details and click OK. Within a few second we get an error: Title: Fatal Error (Error Code:5) Error: Your Remote Desktop session is about to end. This computer might be low on virtual memory. Close your other programs, and then try connecting to the remote computer again. If the problem continues, contact your network administrator or technical support. None of the computers we are using are low on memory (2Gb+) and we let windows manage the virtual memory side of things. We do not see this with any other PC and do use Remote Desktop in meeting rooms to connect to user PCs with no problems.

  I installed Ubuntu 12.10 on an old Compaq C300. I want to use it to share my movies over lan so that the rest of my family can watch without hi-jacking my pc. I installed samba and shared the Public folder under the Home folder of my user account. But I can only access this folder from my Win 7 pc when I am logged in. If I log out or restart without logging in then I cannot access the shared folder.   I've made the change from querystring asp.net webforms application to an url routing one. Now I'm trying to let google know that there's a new set of urls to be aware of. The G has indexed 133 out of 179 new urls sent in sitemap.xml, but the site:mistral.hr command returns the old querystring version of the links. This could partly be so because I left the functionality of the old querystring version of the site(for backwards compatibility), and haven't done any 301 redirects(nor do I know how to achieve them in my shared hosting account). The old querystring and the new url routing both point to the same Default.aspx page.

  Hi All, I have a huge database (800MB) which consists of a field called 'Date Last Modified' at the moment this field is entered as a text data type but need to change it to a Date/Time field to carry out some queries. I have another exact same database but with only 35MB of data inside it and when I change the data type it works fine, but when I try to change data type on big database it gives me an error: Micorosoft Office Access can't change the data type. There isn't enough disk space or memory After doing some research some sites mentioned of changing the registry file (MaxLocksPerFile) tried that as well, but no luck :-( Can anyone help please?

• Url encode and routing?

  I'm using custom routing in a web forms context. I have some titles (part of my custom route) that have say a question mark character. When I URL encode this text ("Question?") and then pass into my route, I get an HTTP ERROR CODE 400. Apparently, the URL encoded text is somehow confusing the routing manager. Can someone provide context and explanation for this? Beyond that, I'm thinking I don't need to URL encode these route data but merely strip out the problem characters. Are there any security risks to not using URL decode/encode? And what are the problem characters? A list would be useful. Thanks!

  I'm adding some custom buttons to my forms in MS Access, but somehow I can't make them work. In buttons properties Event tab I've changed 'On Click' event to call 'Event procedure'. Then in VBasic I'm selecting my button and from what I know this code should give me prompt, and if Yos is selected the form should close. But when I click my buttons simply nothing happens. Is it possible to create forms 'on-the fly' so to speak in MS-Access 2007 I have a structure of tables: tblCustomer tblQuestAns A customer may answer the questionnaire answers many times as they relate to all products. I propose to hopefully have an initial input form that will ask how many products of which there could be more than 1 eg: TV, Video (say the user selects 2) On entering that data the next form should hopefully update itself to include the list of questions eg TV Q1, Q2 Q3 - Video (1) Q1, Q2 Q3 - Video (2) Q1, Q2 Q3 Is that possible?   I have my Access 2007 database configured to use "Custom" groups in the navigation pane. I've grouped all my tables in a way that makes sense. However, whenever I update a link table, it loses its grouping. I have not been able to find a way to avoid this. Since it seems to be unavoidable, I'd like to simply have a macro that adds the table back to the right group programatically. I have not found any examples on how to do this. Any suggestions?

But I want those dates to be defined by the user every time the query is executed. I tried using the [] operators to have the user define the criteria in the WHERE, something like this: WHERE (((Transactions.Date)>=[Input a Date])) AND (((Transactions.Date)<=[Input a Date])); But microsoft Access throws a Syntax error message. The same happens when I include the # (date operators) like this WHERE (((Transactions.Date)>=#[Input a Date]#)) AND (((Transactions.Date)<=#[Input a Date]#)); Is there anopther way to manage dates that I'm not aware of or is asking a user for dates in a query out of the question
