http status 401 - Page 200

Bizarre SSH Problem - It won't even start

I recently got Ubuntu 12.04 Precise, got it up and running with some MediaWiki software, static IP on the box and router and was able to access the main page even from a cell phone. Everything seemed great... Then I wanted to finally get rid of the monitor and keyboard and login remotely via SSH. I installed openssh-server, let everything point to port 22 for a test run and installed putty on my Windows XP machine. I got a connection refused. Went back and started checking the Ubuntu install itself... (I'm under root from this point on) $ sudo -s $ service ssh status ssh stop/waiting $ service ssh start ssh start/running, process 2212 $ service ssh status ssh stop/waiting Apparently ssh has stopped or is waiting for something.... $ ssh localhost ssh: connect to host localhost port 22: Connection refused I can't even connect to myself... I checked ufw (firewall) to see if port 22 is doing alright... $ sudo ufw status Status: active To Action From 22 ALLOW Anywhere 22/tcp ALLOW Anywhere 22 ALLOW Anywhere (v6) 22/tcp ALLOW Anywhere (v6) sshd_config shows only Port 22 Is ssh not using the right IP address at all? I just don't get what I did wrong here. When this is up and running I will def change the port number, but for now, I don't want to mess with the default install too much until a test run with putty is successful. Edit: Here are my sshd_config file and my ssh_config file. The command /usr/sbin/sshd -p 22 -D -d -e returns: /etc/ssh/sshd_config line 159: Subsystem 'sftp' already defined. Edit: @phoibus moving the sshd_config file and reinstalling did the trick! service ssh status the above command shows that ssh is now running and I am now able to log in from my windows xp computer remotely via putty. Thanks so much! I can now use my monitor for other things!

Two different websites in one remote hosting

My client asked me that a website that is hosted in one server (and pointing there through a domain) should also be accessed (into a specific directory) from another domain, which is not pointing there. For example: http://www.foo.com, hosted at GoDaddy, with the full website http://www.bar.com, hosted at Bluehost, needs to access http://www.foo.com/bar, as if it was the http://www.bar.com's root. So, if anybody enters through http://www.bar.com, it should internally load http://www.foo.com/bar, without visually changing the url. I amb not sure if this is possible using .htaccess or anything like this. Could anybody show me some light? Thanks in advance

Should I use AND or should I use OR

An order can be in the "status" of Completed, Corrected or some other stratus. I saw some code that is checking it like this, the purpose is to disable some stuff when the status is in Completed or Corrected status. if (model.CurrentStatus != DSRHelper.OrderStatusEnum.Complete && model.CurrentStatus != DSRHelper.OrderStatusEnum.Corrected) I can't get it why the engineer has used "AND" for this, shouldn't it be an "OR"?

What's so bad about /etc/init.d/ and what/is there a difference between service and /etc/init.d/?

Now my git repo folder looks the same as other folders. If I want to view file status I have to type git status in the command line. I want some icons which could inform me the file/folder status at my first glance on the folder view. I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 EDIT I googled it, and what I'm asking for is called the overlay icon.

Facebook require_login() in iFrame App

Hi, I have serious problem with iframe application. I need to use many external JS libraries and other dynamic stuuf so FMBL application can't be done. When I call require_login() I get applicaition installing dialog when app is not already installed, which is ok. But then after authorization application enters an endless redirect loop with parameters like auth_token, installed and so. Yesterday I managed to fix this, but today it's broken again... Why are these divs not aligned and space between?

Why isnt everything aligned? No yellow should be visible and no orange should be visible except for the right side and bottom left where theres space for another image. Basically my images are pretty much aligned to the center (i have other pics not in this example which is easier to see). However in this case when i have 150px height image the 150 width seems start lower. Internet Explorer background-color hover problem

I have a strange Problem with table formating using IE 7. My table looks like this: In IE, when using border-collapse, the borders don't get displayed correctly. That's why I used this fix: .table-vmlist td { border-top: 1px solid black; } td.col-vm-status, tr.row-details td { border-left: 1px solid black; } td.col-vm-rdp, tr.row-details td { border-right: 1px solid black; } .table-vmlist { border-bottom: 1px solid black;} When hovering over the row, it gets highlighted with CSS: .table-vmlist tr.row-vm { background-color: #A4C3EF; } .table-vmlist tr.row-vm:hover { background-color: #91BAEF; } Now, in IE 7, when moving the mouse from the top to the bottom of the list, every row gets highlighted correctly and no problems happen. But if I move my mouse pointer from the bottom of the list to the top, every second row seems to loose the border. Can someone explain what the problem is, and how to solve it? CSS Dropdown Menu issues

Can anyone help with a small problem. I've got a nice simple CSS dropdown menu http://www.cinderellahair.co.uk/new/CSSDropdown.html The problem I have is when you rollover a menu item that has children which are wider than the content, it pushes the whole menu right. Aside of shortening the child menu links down, is there any tweak I can make to my CSS to stop this happening? my jQuery codes suspected to fail on IE 7

I have received numerous calls from users lately, stating that they are not able to access the conference sites with IE7. These sites are created from a template, and they are managed on Joomla. Previously on other sites, there have no problems or complaints. However, with the recent complaints , I suspect that the culprit is my simple jQuery codes since the sites that have been reported have been created recently and incorporated with jQuery features.
