  • I know I'm doing something wrong with RaiseCanExecuteChanged and CanExecute

    Well after fiddling with MVVM light to get my button to enable and disable when I want it to... I sort of mashed things together until it worked. However, I just know I'm doing something wrong here. I have RaiseCanExecuteChanged and CanExecute in the same area being called. Surely this is not how it's done? It doesn't... and so if I don't have that CanExecute in there, my control never toggles its IsEnabled like I need it to.   • Is there a Ruby on Rails framework like equivalent for .NET development?

    Answers like ASP.NET MVC or Entity Framework really aren't acceptable as they address just one aspect of the problem domain. I'm looking for a framework ... a REAL framework that gives me the same features out of the box that Rails does. As such it should include at minimum: MVC for presentation ORM Ability to provide simple configuration for whatever environment (dev, QA, Production, etc...) Migration like functionality Ability to generate code in all layers (similar to scaffolding like behavior, etc...) Project template so as to create similar functionality as the "rails my_app" command. Thanks.

  • Refactoring FAT client legacy application

    I am working on a fat client legacy C++ application which has a lot of business logic mixed in with the presentation side of things. I want to clean things out and refactor the code out completely, so there is a clear seperation of concerns. I am looking at MVC or some other suitable design pattern in order to achieve this. I would like to get recommendations from people who have walked this road before - Do I use MVP or MVC (or another pattern)? What is/are the best practices for undertaking something like this (i.e. useful steps/checks) ?

  • php calling classes functions in separate pages

    I've worked with J2EE recently and like the idea of struts.xml where I can handle the redirection to pages based on return string from action classes. In PHP, in my new under-development site, I am trying to follow the MVC standards without an MVC framework used from the internet. So I create the controllers, models and views (empty now). The only thing I am really stuck at is when I submit the form in view (insert_product.php) then I will need to create another php page to handle the post data and pass them to controllers. Anyway of avoiding creating those pages and maybe having something like struts.xml? Even if I can post data directly to controller class, that would be good. Thanks,

  • Programs won't write to a file, and I do not know if it is reading it

The problem is that the files open like they are supposed to and the names are correct but nothing is on any of the text screens.   • Random Slow Response

    We have an ASP.NET MVC 1.0 application running on Windows Server 2008 – Standard (32 –bit), Dual Core Xeon (3.0 GHz), 2 G.B R.A.M. Most of the times application renders response in 3-4 seconds, but sometimes users get very late response and delay is up to 40 seconds or more than a minute. It happens in following way: User browsed a page, idle for 5, 10 or 15 minutes, tried to browse same page or some other. Now, there is a chance that he will see late response whereas the app pool is still up and running. This can happen with any arbitrary page. We have tried followings/observations. Moved the application to stand alone web server App Pool idle shutdown time is 60 minutes. There are no abrupt shut downs/restarts. CPU or memory doesn’t spike. No delays in SQL queries. Modified App Pool setting to run in classic-mode. It didn’t help. Plugged-in custom module to log all those requests which took more than 5 seconds to complete. It didn’t pick any request of interest. Enabled ‘Failed Request Tracing’ to log all those requests which take 20 or more seconds to complete. It didn’t log anything. Event Viewer, HTTPER log, W3SVC logs or WAS logs don’t indicate anything. HTTPERR only has ‘_ _ Timer_ConnectionIdle _ _’ entries. There is not much traffic to server. This can happen also if only two users are active. Next we captured TCP/IP terrific on both a user and server end with Wireshark and below are details in brief of this slowness: Browser sends a request for ~/User/Home/ (GET Request) by setting up a receiving end point using port 'wlbs(port-2504)'. I'm not sure if this could be a problem in some way that browser didn't hand-shake with the server first and assumed that last connection is still open, whereas, I browsed the same page 4 minutes ago and didn't perform any activity with site after that. If I see the HTTPERR log, it indicates that it has ‘_ _ Timer_ConnectionIdle _ _ _’ entry for my last activity with server. Browser (I was using Chrome) waits for any response from the server, doesn’t find any then starts retransmitting the same request using same end point after incrementing wait intervals, e.g. after 8, 18, 29, 40, 62, and 92 seconds. All these GET requests were received by server as well. But, server didn’t send any packet to client. Browser didn't see any response on the end point it set up in point 1, it opened a new end point 'optiwave-lm (port-2524)', did a hand shake with the server and transmitted the same request again. Server received, processed it, and returned successful response. What happened to earlier 6-7 requests? Whether they were passed on to HTTP.SYS or not? Why Failed Request Tracing not logged anything, we didn't find any clue yet. Server served the same page successfully just 4 minutes ago. Looking forward for more suggestions/solutions. -- Thanks

  • Java fatal error, don't know what it means

    It happens at the same place in my code (albeit not the first time the method is executed) but I can't make head or tail of what is wrong. (Doubly so as it's code for a robot). Be most appreciative if someone can give me an idea of what kind of problem it is. I assume it's to do with threading (multi-threaded app) but I don't really know what?!? Worried as deadline for uni project is looming!!!   • Get to know what HTML-button is clicked with PHP, no Name of value available

    I have a wizard with 4 steps and in one of the steps, you can add items. By default, there are 3 time 5 empty input-fields listed. When you click a button, there have to be added some more. The 3 times 5 fields are added by a loop. How can I determine where I have to add some fields (in the first 5 field of the second or the third). I can't use another name for every button, because sometimes there can be more then 3 groups of 5 fields. In my code (PHP), I use the name of the button to know what happened in the form, so the name can't be different for the button in every group ... Further, the whole step is 1 form, so the post can't go to another script ... The value of the button has to be the same for every group. I've been thinking on possible solutions and these came up: On click a javascript adds a value to the post (in a hidden field?) But is this posted with the form? Could it be possible to get the ID of the clicked button? This might be different :-) I need a refresh after the click, so pure javascript isn't a solution either ... It is a very specific question, but I hope someone can give me some direction.   • SSRS ReportViewer 2010 Iframe IE Problem

    Hello all, My problem relates to trying to include an SSRS (SQL Server) Report inside my MVC application. I've settled on the hybrid solution of having a WebForm with the ReportViewer Control in and then on my MVC View pages having an iframe reference this WebForm page. The tricky part is that the iframe needs to be dynamically populated with the report rather than using src due to posting parameters to the WebForm. It works perfectly in Firefox and Chrome, however IE throws a "Sys is Undefined" javascript error. Using src on the iframe works in IE, but I can't find a way to post parameters (don't want to use something like /Report.aspx?param1=test due to the possible length). Its a ASP.NET MVC 2 project, .NET 4, Visual Studio 2010 on Windows 7 x74 if its any help.   • ASP.NET MVC2 Model Validation Fails with Non-US Date Format

    I have a small MVC2 app that displays in two cultures: en-US and es-MX. One portion contains a user input for a date that is pre-populated with the current date in the Model. When using en-US, the date field is displayed as MM/dd/yyyy and can be changed using the same format without causing any validation errors. When using es-MX, the date field is displayed as dd/MM/yyyy, but when the date is edited in this format, the server-side validation fails with the message: The value '17/05/1991' is not valid for The Date. One of the first things that jumps out at me about that message is that it is not localized. Both the message itself (which I do not think I can control) and the Display Name of the field (which I can control and is localized in my code). Should be displaying in a localized format. I have tried stepping through the code to see exactly where the validation is failing, but it seems to be happening inside some of the compiled MVC or DataAnnotations code that I cannot see.     Hi, I've just started learning flex using OReilly "Programming Flex 3.0". After completing three chapters and starting fourth (ActionScript), and not having enough patience to wait till completing chapter 22 I started to practice :) One bit that I have most worries about right now is the the dual coding mode (MXML vs ActionScript) Please have a look at my code below (it compiles via mxmlc design.mxml, second file 'code.as' should be in same directory) and advise if the separation I used between visual design and code is appropriate. Also - if some smart guy could show me how to recode same example with *.as being a class file [package?] it would be highly appreciated. A sample is $.getScript('_int/ajax.js',function() { $("#progressinfo").html("Loading Complete ..."); $("#progressbar").progressbar({ value: 100 }); }); This progress bar is in #indexloader which is blocking the website being loaded behind, its CSS is #indexloader { z-index:100; position:fixed; top:0; left:0; background:#FFF; width:100%;height:100%; } After the progress bar reaches 100% I want to hide and remove #indexloader for that I used $("#indexloader").fadeOut("slow",function() { $("#indexloader").remove(); }); But the problem is, although the scripts have loaded, the pages are not fully loaded, I see images and other things still loading. So before fading and removing the #indexloader i want to check whether the $(window).load() has completed or not Is there a way to check this? Thanks in advance

    I want to update pin callout (popup) subtitle either realtime, when I receive some new info from server, or at least when callout opens. So far it looks like pin + callout are created only once at... - (MKAnnotationView *)mapView:(MKMapView *)aMapView viewForAnnotation:(id <MKAnnotation>)annotation ...and then used as-is as long as it exists regardless how many times I tap it closed/open or scroll around keeping it visible. How can I update the subtitle?

  • How to know when StatusBar size changed (iPhone)

    I have UITabBarController with 2 tabs. One resizes just fine, when StatusBar size changes (emulator "Toggle In-Call Status Bar" menu item). The other one doesn't. The problematic tab item contains a static view, which dynamically loads one or another view depending on certain things. While getting this setup working I discovered that main tab view did NOT automagically send e.g. viewWillAppear and viewWillDisappear messages to my dynamic subviews. Apple docs explained this was because dynamically added views were not recognized by the system. @interface MyTabViewController : UIViewController { UIView *mainView; FirstViewController *aController; SecondViewController *bController; } ... if (index == 0) { self.aController = [[FirstViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"FirstViewController" bundle:nil]; [self.mainView addSubview:aController.view]; [self.aController viewWillAppear:YES]; } How can I get StatusBar size changed event into my dynamic subviews? The "didChangeStatusBarFrame" doesn't work, as documented elsewhere.
