  • How to save big "database-like" class in python

    Hi there, I'm doing a project with reasonalby big DataBase. It's not a probper DB file, but a class with format as follows: DataBase.Nodes.Data=[[] for i in range(1,1000)] f.e. this DataBase is all together something like few thousands rows. Fisrt question - is the way I'm doing efficient, or is it better to use SQL, or any other "proper" DB, which I've never used actually. And the main question - I'd like to save my DataBase class with all record, and then re-open it with Python in another session. Is that possible, what tool should I use? cPickle - it seems to be only for strings, any other? In matlab there's very useful functionality named save workspace - it saves all Your variables to a file that You can open at another session - this would be vary useful in python!

    Is there a way to instantiate a new PHP object in a similar manner to those in jQuery? I'm talking about assigning a variable number of arguments when creating the object. For example, I know I could do something like: ... //in my Class __contruct($name, $height, $eye_colour, $car, $password) { ... } $p1 = new person("bob", "5'9", "Blue", "toyota", "password"); But I'd like to set only some of them maybe. So something like: $p1 = new person({ name: "bob", eyes: "blue"}); Which is more along the lines of how it is done in jQuery and other frameworks. Is this built in to PHP? Is there a way to do it? Or a reason I should avoid it?

    Okay, so I have classes class B<T> : A<T> class L : K and a method void Method(A<K> a) {...} What I would like to do is this b = new B<L>(); Method(b); //error But it is not possible to b to the correct type. Indeed it is not possible to make this cast A<K> t = new A<L>(); //error I would really like to not have to change the internals of Method. I have no problems making changes to B and/or L. Do I have any options for making some sort of workaround? I guess it should be possible for Method to execute all of its method calls etc. on b, since B derives from A and L derives from K?

  • Mapping class properties to generic columns in table .NET

    I have have a SQL Server table which has generic names like Text1, Text2.. etc. The table was designed like this because the same structure is used for different projects. I have a class in .NET which has properties. Say a Customer class has a property called FirstName. How can I do the mapping from FirstName to Text1 just once (central place) in the application so that I don't have to remember and hard code the mappings all over the app when I create the different DAL methods? For example, I want the app to know when I want to update, insert a FirstName, the DAL automatically uses Text1. Basically I don't have to remember which property goes to which column. The idea is so the developers do not map the properlies/columns in a wrong way. It's always consistent. Note: Database inserts, updates and deletes are allowed through stored procedures only.

    This question isn't meant to sound as blatantly insulting as it probably is right now. This is a homework assignment, and the spec sheet is scarce and poorly designed to say the least. We have a function: double refuel( int liter, GasStation *gs ) { // TODO: Access private variable MaxFuel of gs and decrement. } Sound simple enough? It should be, but the class GasStation comes with no function that accesses the private variable MaxFuel. So how can I access it anyway using the function refuel? I'm not considering creating a function setFuel( int liter ) because the teacher always complains rather energetically if I change his specification. So... I guess I have to do some sort of hack around it, but I'm not sure how to go about this without explicitely changing the only function in GasStation and giving it a parameter so that I can call it here. Any hints perhaps?

    I was wondering how to do this, consider the following classes public class Fruit { public string Name { get; set; } public Color Color { get; set; } } public class Apple : Fruit { public Apple() { } } How can I instantiate a new fruit but upcast to Apple, is there a way to instantiate a bunch of Fruit and make them apples with the name & color set. Do I need to manually deep copy?   • What's the difference between the 'DES' class and The 'DESCryptoServiceProvider' class?

    All I can make out is that one of them is the BC for all 'DES' algorithms to be derived from and the later is a wrapper for the Cryptographic service provider implementation of the DES algorithm. The reason why I ask is that I am going over .Net Security and the MS official training book simply refers to the DES class but the another official MS book refers to the DESCrypto' class. What's the difference between these two? When would you use either of them? What do I need to know as far as the 70-536 exam is concerned.     I have a web application that I want to sync with Flickr. I don't want the users to have to log into Flickr so I plan to use a single login. I believe I'll need to do something like this: import flickrapi flickr = flickrapi.FlickrAPI(myKey, mySecret) (token, frob) = flickr.get_token_part_one(perms='write', my_auth_callback) flickr.get_token_part_two((token, frob,)) flickr.what_have_you(... I don't know what my_auth_callback should look like though. I suspect it will have to post my login information to flickr. Could I do the get_token_part_one step just once manually perhaps and then re-use it in get_token_part_two?
