• Cisco ASA: Allowing and Denying VPN Access based on membership to an AD group

  I have a Cisco ASA 5505 connecting to an Active Directory server for VPN authentication. Usually we'd restrict this to a particular OU, but in this case users which need access are spread across multiple OUs. So, I'd like to use a group to specify which users have remote access. I've created the group and added the users, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to deny users which aren't in that group. Right now, if someone connects they get assigned the correct group policy "companynamera" if they are in that group, so the LDAP mapping is working. However, users who are not in that group still authenticate fine, and their group policy becomes the LDAP path of their first group, i.e. CN=Domain Users,CN=Users,DC=example,DC=com, and then are still allowed access. How do I add a filter so that I can map everything that isn't "companynamera" to no access? • Rails fields_for :child_index option explanation

  I have been trying to create a complex form with many nested models, and make it dynamic. Now I found that making a nested model isn't difficult with accepts_nested_attributes_for, but making it nested and dynamic was seemingly impossible if there were multiple nested models. Could anyone shed some light on lines 13 and 16? 13 form_builder.object.class.reflect_on_association(method).klass.new and 16 form_builder.fields_for(method, options[:object], :child_index => "new_#{method}") do |f| From intuition, line 13 instantiates a new object, but why must it do so many method calls? I couldn't find any documentation for the :child_index option on line 16. When the form is created, a very large number is used as an index for new models, whereas existing models are indexed by their id. How does this work?

• What is technically more advanced: Python or Assembler? [closed]

  I wondered which of these languages is more powerful. With powerful I don't mean the readability, assembler would be naturally the winner here, but something resulting from, for example, the following factors: Which of them is more high-level? (Both aren't really but one has to be more) Who would be the possibly fastest in compiled state? (There is no Python compiler out there as far as I know but it wouldn't be hard writing one I suppose) Which of the both has the better code length/code action ratio? What I mean is If you get to distracted by the, compared to Python, improved readability of assembler, just think of writing plain binary/machine code as what assembler assembles to. Both languages are so basic that it should be possible to answer the question(s) in a rather objective view, I hope.

• Is there a way to automatically make a makefile from a template toolkit template?

  My static web pages are built from a huge bunch of templates which are inter-included using Template Toolkit's "import" and "include", so page.html looks like this: [% INCLUDE top %] [% IMPORT middle %] Then top might have even more files included. I have very many of these files, and they have to be run through to create the web pages in various languages (English, French, etc., not computer languages). This is a very complicated process and when one file is updated I would like to be able to automatically remake only the necessary files, using a makefile or something similar. Are there any tools which can parse template toolkit templates and create a dependency list for use in a makefile? Or are there better ways to automate this process?

• Using ZeroC Middleware

  I'm currently looking at various middleware solutions that will allow me to create applications in a variety of languages which are able to communicate amongst each other. The ZeroC product suite seems ideal as it provides a language agnostic way of defining data and the services that operate on the data (via its ICE idl) and provides support for all the mainstream languages. It also appears to offer a lot of other things we'd want, such as load balancing, grid computing and managed deployment. However, my google-fu has let me down and I'm having trouble finding information from people who have used it to implements system. I'm looking for feedback from projects that use it, and what issues/successes they had. I'm also interested in feedback from projects that evaluated it and chose not to use it (and why).

  I have a document with dynamic image and dynamic text and would like the text around the image. The image is right aligned on the landscape page.   Hello, I am looking for a method to implement lock-free queue data structure that supports single producer, and multiple consumers. I have looked at the classic method by Maged Michael and Michael Scott (1996) but their version uses linked lists. I would like an implementation that makes use of bounded circular buffer. Something that uses atomic variables? On a side note, I am not sure why these classic methods are designed for linked lists that require a lot of dynamic memory management. In a multi-threaded program, all memory management routines are serialized. Aren't we defeating the benefits of lock-free methods by using them in conjunction with dynamic data structures? I am trying to code this in C/C++ using pthread library on a Intel 64-bit architecture. Thank you, Shirish

• Htaccess rewrite rule .aspx to .php

  Background: I have a website that has been built with ASP.NET 2.0 and is on Windows hosting. I now have to rewrite my site in PHP and move it into Linux hosting. I have a lot of incoming links to my site from around the web that point directly into the old .aspx-pages. The site itself is very simple, one dynamic page and five static ones. I saved the static .aspx pages as .php-pages and rewrote the dynamic page in PHP. The dynamic page is called City.aspx and I have written it in PHP and it is now called City.php. On my old Windows hosting, I used ASP.NET's URL mapping for friendly URL. For example, incoming URL request for Laajakaista/Ypaja.aspx was mapped into City.aspx?CityID=981. My goal: To redirect all human visitors and search engines looking for the old .aspx pages into the new .php pages. I am thinking that the easiest way to redirect visitors into new pages will be by making a redirect, where all requests for .aspx-files will be redirected into .php filetypes. So, if someone asks for MYSITE/City.aspx?CityID=5, they will be taken into MYSITE/City.php?CityID=5 instead. However, I am having a lot of trouble getting this to work. So far this is what I have found: rewriterule ^([.]+)\.aspx$ http://www.example.com/$1.php [R=301,L] However, I think this can not handle the parameters after the filetype and I am also not quite sure what to put on front. To make things a bit more complicated, at my previous site I used friendly URL's so that I had a huge mapping file with mappings like this: <add url="~/Laajakaista/Ypaja.aspx" mappedUrl="~/City.aspx?CityID=981" /> <add url="~/Laajakaista/Aetsa.aspx" mappedUrl="~/City.aspx?CityID=988" /> <add url="~/Laajakaista/Ahtari.aspx" mappedUrl="~/City.aspx?CityID=989" /> <add url="~/Laajakaista/Aanekoski.aspx" mappedUrl="~/City.aspx?CityID=992" /> I tried to make a simple redirect like this: Redirect 301 Laajakaista/Aanekoski.aspx City.php?CityID=992 but was not able to get it to work. I ended up with an internal server error and a 50k .htaccess-file... Any help is greatly appreciated.

  I need to display a UI element (e.g. a star or checkmark) for employees that are 'favorites' of the current user (another employee). The Employee model has the following relationship defined to support this: has_and_belongs_to_many :favorites, :class_name => "Employee", :join_table => "favorites", :association_foreign_key => "favorite_id", :foreign_key => "employee_id" The favorites has two fields: employee_id, favorite_id. If I were to write SQL, the following query would give me the results that I want: SELECT id, account, IF( ( SELECT favorite_id FROM favorites WHERE favorite_id=p.id AND employee_id = ? ) IS NULL, FALSE, TRUE) isFavorite FROM employees Where the '?' would be replaced by the session[:user_id]. How do I represent the isFavorite scalar query in Rails? Another approach would use a query like this: SELECT id, account, IF(favorite_id IS NULL, FALSE, TRUE) isFavorite FROM employees e LEFT OUTER JOIN favorites f ON e.id=f.favorite_id AND employee_id = ? Again, the '?' is replaced by the session[:user_id] value. • Can I use XText for a DSL involving an XML file type?

  I have defined a small DSL that is mostly written in the form of different types of XML files in conjuction with some property files. This works very well but I wish to create an Eclipse Editor to make editing these files easier for beginners (I already have a working parser). The main XML file can reference some items from the .properties files and vice-versa. THe main xml file can also reference other XML files. Certain options should only be available in the main xml file based on the contents of the .properties files and based on some osgi plugins that can be added to the DSL project (the syntax is dynamic depending on context). The structure of the language is fixed but the options available in each attribute or the choice of attributes themselves changes depending on metadata contained in plugin .jar files. Questions: Does XText support dynamic syntax (validation changes depending on external factors)? Does XText support XML files / .properties files? Thank you very much for your help in advance.

  Using pure functional languages can have a lot of benefits over using impure imperatives but low level systems languages will generally allow you to achieve much greater performance especially when they are imperative because it allows you to specify the exact steps in how the cpu should compute the result. If there is ever list of tools where high performance is an absolute must then I would put source version controls systems right at the top of that list and git achieves this very well but performance is not it's only advantage over many other other types of version control systems anyway. The git team are handling the unsafe c code very well and I never worry about my type system or any other features of the language it is written in so why is it that there is a lot of haskell developers that must use darcs when they will only be using the finished product?

• Why does localization with resx files fail with ZH (chinese) only?

  Howdy All, I've been tasked with localizing an English language ASP.NET MVC 2.0 website into 7 additional languages. I've added resource files to the Views Home App_LocalResources folder: Example: Index.resx, Index.es.resx, Index.fr.resx, Index.zh.resx, etc. I have set the CustomTool to PublicResXFileCodeGenerator (Access modifier is Public), Set file as an Embedded Resource, Set a Custom Tool Namespace. The keys ("Name") in all of the files are the same. For 7 languages this works perfectly. If I go into IE 8 settings and change the language to de,fr,it, etc., the page shows the appropriate translated strings. However, when I set the language in the Browser to any of the zh (Simplified Chinese) variants localization completely fails and the English strings are displayed. Is there something special about Simplified Chinese? Japanese and Korean work without problems. TIA, Trey Carroll

• Get "As low as" price for bundle product in Magento

  I'm trying to display a list of bundled products using my custom template. I'm not able to display the dynamic price of the bundle product. Previously for simple products I used: $product->getPrice(); which worked, but it just displays $0.00 for bundle items. looking at ../catalog/products/list.phtml I tried $this->$getPriceHtml($product, true); after extending my block to Mage_Catalog_Block_Product_Abstract I got simple products working again, but bundle products still show $0.00 Is there another way to display the as low as price for dynamic bundle prices? I cleared cache and reindexed and all that good stuff. The price shows up correctly under the default category list, just not under my custom page.

  I'd like to localize my app into a few other languages, all of which I can barely order a drink in. Does anyone know of an online resource for translations of common software menu options, messages, etc. into other languages? Given the number of developers (both OSS and closed-source) that deal with localization, and the overlap of resource strings between, it seems like a pretty obvious fit for a wiki or open source package, but I can't seem to find anything like this. I could try to mine the Windows resource files or dig around in resource strings in robust OSS apps like Firefox, but I suspect I'm not the first person to think of this and surely there is a site that I'm just not finding yet. Update: since nothing exists like this that I could find, I started a feeble attempt at an open-source string library. While running the SWF, if you click into the TextField you get an arrow "move" cursor, then you can double-click to put it into Edit mode to select text. I want it to work like PowerPoint - if you click into the box you'll always get a flashing cursor with the ability to select/insert text, and you can click on the borders to drag, or the corners to resize. I tried adding the focusIn event textField.stage.focus = this.textField but this didn't seem to do anything. When you click into the textField, I basically want it to act as though you followed with a double-click (Edit mode) without actually having to do the double-click. Bonus: and instead of a 2nd double-click returning you to the Move mode (or whatever it's called) I want to select all text. TL;DR: Is there some property of a Dynamic TextField that I can get/set to see if I'm in Edit or Move mode?

• Can Flash AS3 listbox data contain variable info?

  I'm populating a listbox like this: dp.addItem( {label:"red dress", data:"OV4MP/23OL.swf"} ); Instead of data:"OV4MP/23OL.swf", I would like to make part of the data file name a variable from a dynamic textbox named centerPt that belongs to the parent movieclip, so I did this: dp.addItem( {label:"red dress", data:"OV4MP/23"+MovieClip(parent.parent).centerPt.text+".swf"} ); When I trace the selectedItem.data using: trace("you have selected: "+ overlays.selectedItem.data); trace(MovieClip(parent.parent).centerPt.text); I'm getting: you have selected: OV4MP/23.swf. What I should get is OV4MP/23OL.swf. It is not picking up what is in the dynamic centerPt.text field which are the letters OL eventhough that text field is tracing correctly. Is it possible that data can not hold a variable? Thank you in advance for any help. Anne

  Hi, I'm a Delphi developer on the Windows platform, recently read the PHP tutorial at W3CSchools, it looks interesting. We all know scripting languages are very good at web site development, but I also want to utilize it to improve my productivity or get some tedious tasks done quickly, maybe some quick-and-dirty string/file processing? How do you usually do with scripting languages apart from software development? And we need a responsive, decent IDE/editor in order to gain productivity when writing scripts for this purpose? • Java and C#, how close are they?

  I've been using C/C++ and Python pretty seriously, but I now I see that a lot of new programming books use Java or C# as examples. I don't think I'll use Java or C# for the time being, but I guess I have to study one of the languages (or both of them) in order to read and understand the books. How similar Java and C#? If I learn Java, is learning C# almost free? Or vice versa? If I have to choose only one of the two languages, which would be better? Which has wider coverage in terms of programming language?

• ASP.NET Dynamically filtering data

  For a project I'm working on, we're looking for a way to dynamically add filters to a page which then control the dataoutput in, for instance, a grid. We want to add the filters dynamically because we want the customer to be able to change which properties can be filtered and what filtertype (textbox, dropdown, colourpicker, etc.) should be used. The filter should work as follows: - The customer links a filter to a certain property and specifies the filtertype (for this example: dropdown). - A user control which contains all the filter loads all filters specified - The filters load all values of the specified property as options. The first time the page loads; this would be the values of all items. - Now the user selects a value from one of the filters; the page reloads - Only items which have the specified filter value are retrieved, the user may specify one or more filters at the same time. - Once a user drills down by filtering, only filtervalues of the retrieved items should be used in the other filters. I have the following problems: - When I create the filters runtime, events are lost because the controls get recreated each postback. - I could place the filters in PreInit which should solve this, but then determining which controls should be loaded becomes a problem since loading all environment vars isn't finished yet - I don't know a good way of returning all the filter values to a central point from which I can make a good query. - The query has to be dynamic. I'm using linq which I want to make dynamic so I don't have to select everything everytime. How to make a dynamic select query based on a string stored in the database? - I have to select items based on the filtervalues and then adjust the rest of the filters to the already made selection. That kind of messes up the whole regular databinding sequence. Any help in one of the above would be great! PS: One thing I thought about was passing along filter values in the postback which would have to be recognizable. That way the server could use them for selection and then create the filters and autoselect the previously selected filtervalues. I'm not quite sure how to acheive this though...

• Why will IIS 6 not serve my custom 404 page when I set the URL in 'Custom Errors'?

  I've got an ASP.NET MVC site & I've got an Errors controller with a NotFound action which works great for 404 errors that pass though .NET, but for stuff that doesn't (like static files) I've set the Custom Errors value for 404 to URL with a value of /Errors/NotFound. But when I do this & hit a non-existant page the site just gives me this: The system cannot find the path specified. Is this because it's a dynamic url, can IIS not redirect 404 requests to dynamic urls or have I screwed up the config somewhere?

So far I manage to send them to the server correctly but the xml is static. I am looking for a way to insert dynamic/random values into the XML and then send it to the server. Something like a PreProcessor but I am not sure how it is done. Can anyone provide: 1. JMeter tutorials? 2. How to generate dynamic/random xml content to HTTP request 3.
