  Suppose I have a regular expression (a)|(b)|(c)|(d). If I apply it to text 'foobar' I get a match object >>> compiled = re.compile('(a)|(b)|(c)|(d)') >>> compiled.search('foobar').groups() (None, 'b', None, None) How do I extract the 'b' from here? Or in general, how do I extract the first match from an unknown number of groups (can happen when the regexp was built dynamically)?

• Is there a default buffer length for 'sprintf' method?

  Hi, I used sprintf method to format data to a string which I want to write to a file, in C++ console application using VS 2008. The Input is a particular message, which has various variables and values (ex: Type 'int' and Value '10' / Type string and value "abc", etc.) When I send a two messages it works perfectly. But When I send more than two messages it gives a runtime error saying 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0xabababab. Why is this happening? Is it because the method 'sprintf' has a default buffer length? How can I overcome this problem?

That same method returns a complex type which WSC converted into nested NSDictionaries, so no problems there. So I assumed I'd be able to convert my local TestItemResponse class into an NSDictionary and then use that as the complex type param. It almost worked, but unfortunately WSC set the object's type as "Dictionary", instead of "TestItemResponse", and the server complained. <TestItemResponse xsi:type=\"SOAP-ENC:Dictionary\"> <ErrorFullDescription xsi:type=\"xsd:string\">foo</ErrorFullDescription> ... I can't seem to find anything that allows you to override the type WSC assigns to the element in the SOAP XML. I've been using code adapted from here, I'm happy to list it, it's just quite long and this is already the longest SO question I've ever posted.

  I have a HTTPService in my Flex 4 app that I call like this: getUserDetails.send(userLookup.text); In my Ruby on Rails method that this is linked to, how do I refer to the userLookup.text parameter?   I hope I am not missing something very simple here. I have done a Google search(es) and searched through stackoverflow. Here is the situation: For simplicity's sake let's say I have a table called "PeoplesDocs", in a SQL Server 2008 DB, that holds a bunch of people and all the documents that they own. So one person can have several documents. I also have a table called "RequiredDocs" that simply holds all the documents that a person should have. Here is sort of what it looks like: PeoplesDocs: PersonID DocID -------- ----- 1 A 1 B 1 C 1 D 2 C 2 D 3 A 3 B 3 C RequiredDocs: DocID DocName ----- --------- A DocumentA B DocumentB C DocumentC D DocumentD How do I write a SQL query that returns some variation of: PersonID MissingDocs -------- ----------- 2 DocumentA 2 DocumentB 3 DocumentD I have tried, and most of my searching has pointed to, something like: SELECT DocID FROM DocsRequired WHERE NOT EXIST IN ( SELECT DocID FROM PeoplesDocs) but obviously this will not return anything in this example because everyone has at least one of the documents. Also, if a person does not have any documents then there will be one record in the PeoplesDocs table with the DocID set to NULL. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide, Ben

  hi, I am using jquery ajax method on my aspx page,which will invoke the webmethod in the code behind.Currently the webmethod takes a couple of parameters like firstname,lastname,address etc which I am passing from jquery ajax method using data:JSON.stringify({fname:firstname,lname:lastname,city:city}) now my requirement has been changed such that,the number and type of parameters that are going to be passed is not fixed for ex.parameter combination can be something like fname,city or fname,city or city,lname or fname,lname,city or something else.So the webmethod should be such that it should accept any number parameters.I thought of using arrays to do so, as described here. But I do not understand how can I identify which and how many parameters have been passed to the webmethod to insert/update the data to the DB.Please could someone help me with this? thanks

• Objective-C : Member variable is losing reference between method calls.

  Hello, I've been having with an objective-c class which appears to be losing its pointer reference between methods of the same class. In the MyTableViewController.h file, I declare: @interface SettingsTableViewController : UITableViewController <UITextFieldDelegate>{ OCRAppDelegate *delegate; } MyTableViewController.m file - (id) init { self = [ super initWithStyle: UITableViewStyleGrouped ]; delegate = [(OCRAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate] retain]; } The problem is when the "MyTableViewController" view appears again and a different method is executed within that same class, the delegate pointer (which was assigned during the init method) is no longer there. I tried to retain, but to no avail. Would anyone know why this is, it seems like perhaps it is a fundamental Objective-C issue which I am missing. Appreciate your help. Thanks, Winston

It's basically a little 'mathematics game'; the application generates two random numbers, that have either been added, subtracted, multiplied or divided against each other randomly. The answer is shown on screen and the user has to pick from the menu which is the right mathematical operator, once the correct answer is picked the application then displays on screen how long it took for the user in milliseconds to input the correct answer. Now I want to save the times of the players in an array that can be called up later with all the scores. • How can I use a value from a session variable as part of the group name in signalR

  Hi I am trying to set up signalR to distribute messages to web users the problem is that the one site holds different 'areas' and also 'user types'. The Area is decided when the user visits the site by passing a url parameter, this is then stored in a session variable, The 'user type' is by default not logged in then changed when the user logs in to there user type (returned from a webservice) and stored in a User object. My aim was to connect to the hub using signalR when the user visits the site and add the users connectionId to a groupname, using the 'area id' from the session and the 'user type id' from the User object in the context. The problem I am having is that I can obtain the user id but when it comes to the area id signalR cannot access the session. I understand the reasoning behind not allowing the session available in signalR but does any one know if there is a way to enable this or an alternative way that I can gain access to the users area so that I can create these unique groups.

• ActiveMerchant - Optimal method of sending money to user? PayPal account or Credit

  I have a website that will take payments from user A, hold them in our escrow account, then transfer the money minus a fee to user B. I have the first part figured out, in terms of taking credit card payments from user A, but I'm trying to figure out the optimal method of taking that money and sending it to user B. I'm not storing credit card info due to privacy and I don't mind requiring user B to sign up for a PayPal account if they're going to use the system but I don't know how to directly send payments to a PayPal account. I'm using ActiveMerchant and the PayPal gateway on Rails 2.3.5. I'm also open to any suggestions as to what the optimal method is to take money from user A, hold it for 1-60 days, then transfer it to user B while incurring minimal fees and something I can implement in Rails hopefully that won't cause me to have an aneurysm.

• Using boost.python to import a method with opencv calls but failing due to symbols not being found a

  So I don't have the code right now, as I am not home... but i used the boost library for python in C++ to allow python to access a function called something like loadImageIntoMainWindow(string filepath) in the C++ source code the method calls opencv methods that are imported at the top of the file, I included opencv in my Jamroot file, and also found a way to compile and link manually on the command line... in either case when I run my python file it complains that the symbols aren't found for the first function call to an opencv method... I will update as soon as I get home with the C++, the command line compilation lines, the Jamroot, and the python files

• How can I efficiently group a large list of URLs by their host name in Perl?

I have to process this file in order to assign URLs to groups, based on host address: { 'http://www.ex1.com' = ['http://www.ex1.com/...', 'http://www.ex1.com/...', ...], 'http://www.ex2.com' = ['http://www.ex2.com/...', 'http://www.ex2.com/...', ...] } My current basic solution takes about 600 MB of RAM to do this (size of file is about 300 MB). Could you provide some more efficient ways? My current solution simply reads line by line, extracts host address by regex and puts the url into a hash. • When using Javascript, is there an Apex built in to get the value of a radio group?

  Friends, My apex page has several different radio groups, each one can have the value of Yes or No. When the user presses a button I need to capture the values of these radio groups in the javascript processing for the page and then "do stuff" dependent on their values. • how to get group total in self refrenced data in data table ?

  I have three columns in my data table. 1) ProductID 2) ProductParentID 3) ProductTotal ProductID and ProductParentID are self refrencing columns where i can set parent child relationship and get child rows based on my relationship. Let us say i have following data Product1     Product11     Product12     Product13         Product131         Product132         Product133 Product2     Product21     Product22     Product23 Next to above hierarchy in Product total column what i want is total of each child rows and sum of those child rows product total should be rolled up to it parent product. E.g if Product 131 total is 10,Product 13 total is 15 and Product 133 total is 5 then the product 13 total should be 30. The logic should work for n number of self hierarchy. Is there any functionality in data table itself where i can achieve this without iterating through each row and do it manually ? Thanks.
