  • Bash - Adding 0's in the middle of a file name

    I have a bunch of files which are named: mem0.csv mem1.csv . . . . mem153.csv . . . They are all in the same folder. When I do ls in the folder they appear in an order of mem0.csv mem1.csv mem10.csv mem100.csv . . . mem2.csv mem20.csv . . . I want to create a bash script to push 0's between mem and the number. I figure that I need to add 0's until all the filenames are of the same length only problem is that I don't know how to do this.

  • Are workflows good for web service business logic?

    I have a series of complex web services that are getting used in my SOA application. I am generally happy with the overall design of the application, but as the complexity grows, I was wondering if Windows Workflow might be the way to go. My motivations for this are that you can get a graphic representation of the applications functionality, so it would be easier to maintain the code by its business function, rather than what I have now ( a standard 3 tier class library structure). My concerns are: I would be inducing an abstraction in my code, and I don't want to spend time having to deal with possible WF quirks or bugs. I've never worked with WF, is it a solid technology? I don't want to hit any WF limitations that prevent me from developing my solution. Is a WF even the right solution for the task? Simply put I am considering writing my next web service in this app to call a WF, and in this work flow manage the tasks the web service needs to carry out. I think it will be much neater and easier to maintain than a regular c# class library (maintainable by namespaces, classes ). Do you think this is the right thing to do? I'm hoping for positive feedback on WF (.net 4), but brutal honestly at the end of the day would help more. Thanks

  • How to import a module from PyPI when I have another module with the same name

    I'm trying to use the lockfile module from PyPI. I do my development within Spyder. After installing the module from PyPI, I can't import it by doing import lockfile. I end up importing anaconda/lib/python2.7/site-packages/spyderlib/utils/external/lockfile.py instead. Spyder seems to want to have the spyderlib/utils/external directory at the beginning of sys.path, or at least none of the polite ways I can find to add my other paths get me in front of spyderlib/utils/external. I'm using python2.7 but with from __future__ import absolute_import. Here's what I've already tried: Writing code that modifies sys.path before running import lockfile. This works, but it can't be the correct way of doing things. Circumventing the normal mechanics of importing in Python using the imp module (I haven't gotten this to work yet, but I'm guessing it could be made to work) Installing the package with something like pip install --install-option="--prefix=modules_with_name_collisions" package_name. I haven't gotten this to work yet either, but I'm guess it could be made to work. It looks like this option is intended to create an entirely separate lib tree, which is more than I need. Source Using pip install --target=lockfile_from_pip. The files show up in the directory where I tell them to go, but import doesn't find them. And in fact pip uninstall can't find them either. I get Cannot uninstall requirement lockfile-from-pip, not installed and I guess I will just delete the directories and hope that's clean. Source So what's the preferred way for me to get access to the PyPI lockfile module?

    Suppose we are inside a function and not in the global namespace. function someGlobalFunction() { var utilFunction1 = function() { } function utilFunction2 () { } utilFunction1(); utilFunction2(); } Are these synonymous? And do these functions completely cease to exist when someGlobalFunction returns? Should I prefer one or the other for readability or some other reason?

  • How to configure my web server for public and development service

    I have one and only one web server, which runs Windows Server 2008 and wamp. Now I would like to setup SVN on the server so I can program the trunk version of the website. Every time I branch a version and put it to public. While developing on the trunk version, I also want to be able to test it. The web server has 5 IPs so I can use one IP for public website(the branch) and another IP for trunk development test. I believe one wamp server can only handle one 80 port request thus can only handle one website. How can I configure the server so it can handle one IP request and direct to my branch and handle another IP request and direct to my trunk?

  • Directory name "cache" in IIS 5.

    In IIS 5 one of the directories off the root has a leading underscore. All files under the directory are unreachable (404) from the browser. I have verified that the paths are correct.     I am using a namespace called ComShorCaliburnWPF.ViewModules.Views.ShortMenuWindows.GWDSCT on my View.xaml and View.cs, for my ViewModel.cs and my IoC container I am using ComShorCaliburnWPF.ViewModules.Views.ShortMenuWindows.GWDSCT. When I remove the GWDSCT at the end it works fine, but in its current state it does not. I would like it to work how it is now because it accurately reflects where the files are located. Any suggestions?

  • Upstart multiple instances of service not working.

    I started playing with MongoDB on Lucid. Now I would like to run a DB and Config server on the same box. They both use the same binary to launch, but with different config files and running on different ports. All directories for log and lib is split so one goes to mongodb and the other to mongoconf. Each process can be started without any problems on their own. start mongodb stop mongodb start mongoconf stop mongoconf But if I try to start both, the second one would just start and exit. Using 'initctl log-priority debug' I got the following in the logs. Jan 6 12:44:12 mongo4 init: event_finished: Finished started event Jan 6 12:44:12 mongo4 init: job_process_handler: Ignored event 1 (1) for process 5690 Jan 6 12:44:12 mongo4 init: mongoconf (mongoconf) main process (5690) terminated with status 1 Jan 6 12:44:12 mongo4 init: mongoconf (mongoconf) goal changed from start to stop Jan 6 12:44:12 mongo4 init: mongoconf (mongoconf) state changed from running to stopping man 5 init shows that you can use instance names to differentiate the two. I tried using 'instance mongoconf' in the on upstart script and 'instance mongodb' in the other one, and it still fails. I can manually start the other process, so there is definitely no conflicts on port numbers or directories. Any ideas on what to try or how to get output on why it is 'terminated with status 1'? According to a Railscast I watched, using this method requires coming up with new model names and not user_badge or user_achievement. For my User Achievement join what do you think of Accomplishment?     I need to call a web service that requires a login url containing an RSA encrypted, base_64 encoded and url-encoded login data. I don't have a formal php training, but even for me it seems like an easy task, however when calling the service I get an 'Invalid Format' response.   • Running a service as root

    I have a java program that I use to automate the process of creating VPN settings for clients. The program calls couple of bash scripts, create and copies files around. I have to run it under root user because the whole VPN config is under /etc/openvpn. For this directory I need root privileges. On the same machine I have Glassfish application server and it will call the mentioned Java program. Glassfish is run under non-root user. What is the best, most secure way of running a program as a root user of course without entering a password if I run it via sudo?

    Hi, I would like to add some debugs for my simple ruby functions and I wrote a function as below, def debug(&block) varname = block.call.to_s puts "#{varname} = #{eval(varname,block)}" end debug {:x} #prints x = 5 debug {:y} #prints y = 5 I understand that eval is evil. So I have two questions. Is there any way to write that debug method without using eval? If NO is there a preferred way to do this? Is there any way to pass a list of arguments to this method? I would ideally prefer debug {:x, :y. :anynumOfvariables}. I could not quite figure out how to factor that into the debug method (i.e, to take a list of arguments)
