Batch program not running correctly in Windows 7

I am currently trying to figure out how to get a batch file to run correctly in Windows 7. I have looked on the Internet and have not had much success in finding any useful information on the issue I am encountering. BATCH FILE – The batch file is to open a window to allow students to test on a TDSM server created by ETS eCBT – The test is a CLEP Exam. The batch file is to open the workstation for students to use and it looks like it loads but the Welcome/Login Screen never appears as it should. I know it is connecting to the TDMS server as I can see it on the server. The only thing it does not do is bring up the window which is necessary to login to the testing server. The window opens like it should but does not produce the login boxes. Any and all help is appreciated, Jennifer

Response.TransmitFile problem

I have the following code delivering a file to users when they click on a download link. For security purposes I can't just link directly to the file so this was set up to decode the url and transmit the file. It has been working fine for a while but recently I started having problems where the file will start downloading but there's no indication of how large the file is. Because of this when the download should stop, it doesn't. The file is about 99mb but when I download it, the browser just keeps downloading way beyond 100mb. I don't know what it's downloading but if I don't cancel it, it doesn't stop. So, my question is, is there either an alternative to transmitfile or a way to make sure the size of the file is sent also so that it stops at the right time? I don't want to use writefile because I don't want to load the entire file into memory since it's so large. Thanks. Unit Testing XML independent of physical XML file

Hi, My question is: In JUnit, How do I setup xml data for my System Under Test(SUT) without making the SUT read from an XML file physically stored on the file system Background: I am given a XML file which contains rules for creation of an invoice. My job is to convert these rules from XMl to Java Objects e.g. If there is a tag as below in my XML file which indicates that after a period of 30 days, the transaction cannot be invoiced <ExpirationDay>30</ExpirationDay> this converts to a Java class , say ExpirationDateInvoicingRule I have a class InvoiceConfiguration which should take the XML file and create the *InvoicingRule objects. I am thinking of using StAX to parse the XML document within InvoiceConfiguration Problem: I want to unit test InvoiceConfiguration. But I dont want InvoiceConfiguration to read from an xml file physically on the file system . I want my unit test to be independent of any physical stored xml file. I want to create a xml representation in memory. But a StAX parser only takes FileReader( or I can play with the File Object)

What is the root directory OR how do I set the directory in DotNetZip

where does DotNetZip get it's root directory for saving. All the save examples don't show the directory. My goal is to recurse a folder and subfolders. Why can't upload three files with FileUpload ?

Eclipse execute a file in jar

Hi I'm developing an Eclipse product. In my plugin i have added an executable file (.exe) which i need to execute. When i launch the product from the eclipse, the file is referenced using the path of the executable on my file system and all went ok. When i export the product the plugin is packaged in a jar file which contains the executable file too. When it references the file the path is something like : $path_to_the_plugin_jar!/$path_to_exe_file_inside_the_jar Using this path to launch a new Process Thrown an exception. How can i refer to a file inside a jar?How could i execute the file? Can i extract the file when i export the product with eclipse? thanks

Forcing a page to load itself in another page's iframe

I'm a fairly inexperienced web designer learning css/html on the fly for a company's web site. I want to keep menus, banners, etc in one document so I don't have to repeat updates across many documents. My solution was to make an index.aspx file with the menus and headers, then have a simple iframe for content. This works quite well and updates easily. the format is: www.site.com/index.aspx?page=page1.htm www.site.com/index.aspx?page=page2.htm The problem -- Google is indexing my iframe'd pages and linking to them directly: www.site.com/page1.htm www.site.com/page2.htm How can I set up redirects to page1.htm forwards to index.aspx?page=page1.htm without creating a "hall of mirrors" effect inside the original iframe?

XML Validation in ASP.NET MVC during load

I'm writing an ASP.NET MVC 2 application where one of the backing stores I plan to support is XML. I have a POCO that represents the settings for the site, along with an XML file to contain these settings. My question is what is the best way to validate this data as it is read from disk in to the POCO? I know I can use an XSD, or maybe use the Data Annotations library to mark up the POCO, and use reflection to validate the data, but is there another way, perhaps in .NET 3.5 or MVC to do this? I've spent some time Googling this issue, and want to be sure I'm doing it in the best manner. Thanks in advance!

Dynamically load .asmx web-service

I have an .aspx page that can perform a number of functions. The type of function is determined at run-time depending on which button the user clicks. This makes makes a web-service call to an .asmx method. The web-service call returns html and javascript which then become part of the original page. This new content has javascript events attached to button clicks, data validation etc. In turn these events then call their own web-service methods in another .asmx file. The main page does not know about these other .asmx files when the page loads. So, is there any way of dynamically loading these .asmx files on demand?

Read entire file in Scala?

What's a simple and canonical way to read an entire file into memory in Scala? (Ideally, with control over character encoding.) The best I can come up with is: scala.io.Source.fromPath("file.txt").getLines.reduceLeft(_+_) or am I supposed to use one of Java's god-awful idioms, the best of which (without using an external library) seems to be: import java.util.Scanner import java.io.File new Scanner(new File("file.txt")).useDelimiter("\\Z").next() From reading mailing list discussions, it's not clear to me that scala.io.Source is even supposed to be the canonical I/O library. I don't understand what its intended purpose is, exactly. ... I'd like something dead-simple and easy to remember. For example, in these languages it's very hard to forget the idiom ... In my code, I use JavaScript for UI and PHP for back end. I also use PHP to store application settings and sometimes my UI code needs to access this information. My configuration file looks something like this (config.php): $resolution_x = 1920; $resolution_y = 1080; etc... When I need to access any of these settings form JavaScript, i simply use <?php echo ... ?> to substitute the value directly, but it just doesn't strike me as very robust. Are they any dangers of doing this that I am not aware of? Is there a better way of doing this? Thank you,

Hi, i've seen many article on encrypt/decrypt of file and typically a button is used to choose the file for encrypt and another button to decrypt the file. i've seen some application like truecrypt and probably others which does file encryption on-the-fly with transparent. this means that when a encrypted file is clicked to access, it will automatically decrypt and play/open the file. then when the file is closed, it will automatically encrypt again. some have said that the only way to detect file open is through file system filter. but is there other ways to do this in c# compact framework?

xperf can't load my DLL's symbols

I'm trying to use xperf to profile my DLL, but it refuses to use my DLL's PDB file. Running xperf on the .etl with -symbols, I get: DBGHELP: mydll- private symbols & lines C:\mydll\debugu\mydll.pdb - unmatched Which leads me to believe it thinks my PDB doesn't match the DLL the application is using. This is wrong; it does match. I've confirmed the path of the DLL the application is linking with using procexp, completely rebuilt the project, and so on. It still thinks it doesn't match. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

Load first page on splashscreen using phonegap on android

Hi i'm using phonegap in conjunction with Jquery mobile. I'm trying to immediately fetch the main page, while showing the user a splashscreen. In PhoneGap for Android i'm using this super.setIntegerProperty("splashscreen", R.drawable.splash); super.loadUrl("file:///android_asset/www/index.html", 2000); While this loads the splash, it also delays the loading of index.html. It it possible to start fetching it right away? Also, if not with phonegap, has anybody done this using JQM instead of phonegap? UPDATE: After using it with a slower loading first page (doing a json request) it kinda looks like the splash screens shows for a longer period of time, so this appears to be the default behavior

Import CSV to mysql

I have created a database and table. I have also created all the fields i will be needing. I have created 46 fields including 1 that is my ID for the row. The CSV doesn't contain the id field, nor does it contain the headers for the columns. I am new to all of this but have been trying to figure this out. I'm not on here being lazy asking for the answer, but looking for direction. I'm trying to figure out how to import the CSV but have it start importing data starting at the 2nd field, since I'm hoping the auto_increment will fill in the ID field, which is the first field i created. I tried these instructions with now luck. [iPhone]Objective C, objects which do not conform to NSCoding. How to write them to a file.

Hi, I am using an Objective c class, a subclass of NSObject. This class cannot be modified. I have an instance of this class that I wish to write to a file which can be retrieved and later reinstate. The object does not conform to NSCoding. To sum up, I need to save an instance of a class to a file which can be retrieved later, without using any of the NSCoding methods such as NSKeyedArchiving encodeWithCoder ... Using them returns this... NSInvalidArgumentException ...encodeWithCoder:] unrecognised selector sent to instance... Is there any other way I can store this object for later use Thank you

NSSavePanel selecting part of file name

How do I set the part of the file name that is selected in NSSavePanel? I only want the file name selected and not the file extension. Here's what I noticed. If I setAllowedFileTypes: for the save panel then only the file name is selected but not the file extension. However if I don't set the allowed file types then the file extension is selected along with the file name. I don't want to use setAllowedFileTypes but I still want to control the selection so that the file extension is not selected. Can that be done?

Hi I am using the GNU-Emacs-23 editor. I have this huge text file containing about 10,000 lines which I want to chop into multiple files. Using the mouse to select the required text to paste in another file is the really painful. Also this is prone to errors too. If I want to divide the text file according to the line numbers into say 4 file where first file:lines 1-2500 second file:lines 2500-5000 third file :lines 5000-7500 fourth file: lines: 7500-10000 how do I do this? At the very least, is there any efficient way to copy large regions of the file just by specifying line numbers

What is the simplest way to manage dependencies of Java classes to data files present in the classpath? More specifically: How should data dependencies be annotated? Perhaps using Java annotations (e.g., @Data)? Or rather some build entries in a build script or a properties file? Is there build tool that integrates and evaluates such information (Ant, Scons, ...)? Do you have examples? Consider the following scenario: A few lines of Ant create a Jar from my sources that includes everything found on the classpath. Then jarjar is used to remove all .class files that are not necessary to execute, say, class Foo. The problem is that all the data files that class Bar depends upon are still there in the Jar. The ideal deployment script, however, would recognize that the data files on which only class Bar depends can be removed while data files on which class Foo depends must be retained. Any hints?

load a word document inside window browser

Hi, I have a page that dynamically links to a document that opens in a new page (the document is stored in a database as binary data and I loaded using the following code: Response.ClearContent() Response.ContentType = myReader("MIMEType").ToString() Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "inline; filename=" & myReader("Filename")) Response.BinaryWrite(myReader("DocBD")) Response.End() This works ok. However some documents have restricted access and before loading the document the user is redirected to a login page. After entering username and passowrd the document is loaded. If it is a pdf file for example, it loads in the same login page, but when it is a word or excel document it opens outside the browser window and the login page remains in the background. Is ther a way to force a word or excel document to open inside the browser window? Many thanks.
