  • Project compilation requires a class that is not used anywhere

    When I build with ant my project that uses libgdx, I get a strange error. It says that a class com.google.gwt.dom.client.ImageElement is not found, but it isn't used at all in the code. How can I find what makes this class necessary? Even searching over the whole project doesn't give any results. It says that error is at PixmapTextureAtlas.java:16 (class source), but there is no code that uses that ImageElement class. Adding the library containing com.google.gwt.dom.client.ImageElement class helps, of course, but I'd like to figure out why this class in needed.   • Review my ASP.NET Authentication code.

    I have had some problems with authentication in ASP.NET. I'm not used most of the built in authentication in .NET. I gotten some complaints from users using Internet Explorer (any version - may affect other browsers as well) that the login process proceeds but when redirected they aren't authenticated and are bounced back to loginpage (pages that require authentication check if logged in and if not redirect back to loginpage). Can this be a cookie problem? Do I need to check if cookies are enabled by the user? What's the best way to build authentication if you have a custom member table and don't want to use ASP.NET login controls?   • Java Hibernate/C3P0 error: "Could not obtain connection metadata. An attempt by a client to checkout

    I'm trying to get some code I was passed up and running. It appears to use the Hibernate framework. I've gotten past most of the errors tweaking the configuration, but this one has me dead stumped. It's trying to connect to two databases: gameapp and gamelog. Both exist. It seems to have issues connecting to gamelog, but none connecting to gameapp (later in the init, it connects to and loads other DBs just fine). Below, I've pasted the error and exception stack dump. I imaging there's something else in the configs, so I've also included the configuration file for that db.   • Discovering a functional algorithm from a mutable one

    This isn't necessarily a Scala question, it's a design question that has to do with avoiding mutable state, functional thinking and that sort. It just happens that I'm using Scala. Given this set of requirements: Input comes from an essentially infinite stream of random numbers between 1 and 10 Final output is either SUCCEED or FAIL There can be multiple objects 'listening' to the stream at any particular time, and they can begin listening at different times so they all may have a different concept of the 'first' number; therefore listeners to the stream need to be decoupled from the stream itself. Pseudocode: if (first number == 1) SUCCEED else if (first number >= 9) FAIL else { first = first number rest = rest of stream for each (n in rest) { if (n == 1) FAIL else if (n == first) SUCCEED else continue } } Here is a possible mutable implementation: sealed trait Result case object Fail extends Result case object Succeed extends Result case object NoResult extends Result class StreamListener { private var target: Option[Int] = None def evaluate(n: Int): Result = target match { case None => if (n == 1) Succeed else if (n >= 9) Fail else { target = Some(n) NoResult } case Some(t) => if (n == t) Succeed else if (n == 1) Fail else NoResult } } This will work but smells to me. StreamListener.evaluate is not referentially transparent. And the use of the NoResult token just doesn't feel right. It does have the advantage though of being clear and easy to use/code. Besides there has to be a functional solution to this right? I've come up with 2 other possible options: Having evaluate return a (possibly new) StreamListener, but this means I would have to make Result a subtype of StreamListener which doesn't feel right. Letting evaluate take a Stream[Int] as a parameter and letting the StreamListener be in charge of consuming as much of the Stream as it needs to determine failure or success. The problem I see with this approach is that the class that registers the listeners should query each listener after each number is generated and take appropriate action immediately upon failure or success. With this approach, I don't see how that could happen since each listener is forcing evaluation of the Stream until it completes evaluation. There is no concept here of a single number generation. Is there any standard scala/fp idiom I'm overlooking here?

    I am trying to insert an audio channel with a video: first of all I extract the audio from the original video for processing: ffmpeg -i lotr.mp4 lotr.wav I then extract all frames for later processing too: ffmpeg -i lotr.mp4 -f image2 %d.jpg When done processing audio and video streams, I try to create the video ffmpeg -f image2 -r 15 -i %d.jpg new.mp4 then merge with the audio: ffmpeg -i new.mp4 -i lotr.wav -map 0:0 -map 1:0 new_w_audio.mp4 Result: CPU activity = 100%, the process hangs and never returns.   • Juju Zookeeper & Provisioning Agent Not Deployed

    I am using juju with the openstack provider, i expected that when i bootstrap that zookeeper and provisioning agent would get deployed on the bootstrap vm in openstack. This dose not seem to be the case. the bootstrap vm gets deployed but it seems that nothing gets deployed to the VM.     I am happily working on a contract for a good, solid company. This client is very happy with my work and has asked me to consider converting to full-time employment. My problem is the headhunter. This firm has not been entirely upfront with me throughout this contract. A mistake was made by the firm that benched me for several days, costing me those days' pay. Inadequate healthcare coverage left me with a bill of several thousand dollars after my wife's brief hospital stay. My feeling is that I did the work that earned me the invitation to work full-time for this company. Asking for 1/3 of the commission I figure they're going to receive would nicely counterbalance the inequities that I perceive were dealt to me. Is this an (un)reasonable or (in)appropriate request?

    Im using the following command, which works for most files, except what seems to be xvid encoded ones /usr/bin/ffmpeg -sameq -i file.avi -ss 00:01:00 -t 00:00:30 -ac 2 -r 25 -copyts output.avi So this should basically splice out 30 seconds of video + audio, starting from 1 minute mark. It does START encoding at the 00:01:00 mark but it goes all the way to the end of the file for some reason, ignoring that I want just 30 seconds. The output looks like this.   • WCF - problem with local service (The server has rejected the client credentials.)

    Hi, I have a simple setup, a WPF application running on the machine and a WCF service hosted within a Windows Service on the same machine (always on the same machine). When i debug on one computer i can easily access the local WCF Service. When i run it on another machine i get an error: "The server has rejected the client credentials." Some of my observations are, that at my local machine i have no domain/network. Its my home machine. When at a customers site, it will not run, and gives the above error. Anyone got any ideas on why this is different on these computers? /Brian

  • Can a .Net 1.1 client call a .Net 2.0 web service? If so, how?

    We have finally upgraded our web services from .Net 1.1 to .Net 2.0/3.5. One of the clients that calls these web services is run as a windows service. It is probable that the server will be upgraded at customer sites and the windows service will not (at least for some time). Is it possible to massage my .Net 2.0 web services so they will correctly service the calls from the .Net 1.1 client? It doesn't happen in my test environment and I can't find any docs about it online. Thanks for your help, -colin-
