• Crystal report subreport parameter autobinding logic feeds duplicate parameters to different subrepo

  I have a report, and I place the same subreport within the footer twice. The report has three parameters and the subreport has four parameters. When I try to run the report through the report designer, it prompts me for seven parameters instead of the eleven I was hoping for. It prompts for one set of parameters for the subreport (with a default prompt of @parameter(subreport.rpt)/@parameter(subreport.rpt - 01), and passes the same set of parameters to both subreports. This isn't what I want the report to do. Furthermore, if I look at 'show report parameters', it does show eleven parameters, with the same value for both subreport parameter sets. So it knows that it's two different subreports, but it does not want to let me enter it that way. Is there some way I can make crystal designer realize that it should take different values for each subreport? The only solution I've found is to add 8 more parameters, one for each subreport / subreport parameter combination, and bind them individually. It works, but it feels like a workaround. Does anyone have a better solution?

• Enum "does not have a no-arg default constructor" with Jaxb and cxf

  A client is having an issue running java2ws on some of their code, which uses & extends classes that are consumed from my SOAP web services. Confused yet? :) I'm exposing a SOAP web service (JBoss5, Java 6). Someone is consuming that web service with Axis1 and creating a jar out of it with the data types and client stubs. They are then defining their own type, which extends one of my types. My type contains an enumeration. class MyParent { private MyEnumType myEnum; // getters, settters for myEnum; } class TheirChild extends MyParent { ... } When they are running java2ws on their code (which extends my class), they get Caused by: com.sun.xml.bind.v2.runtime.IllegalAnnotationsException: 2 counts of IllegalAnnotationExceptions net.foo.bar.MyEnuMType does not have a no-arg default constructor. this problem is related to the following location: at net.foo.bar.MyEnumType at public net.foo.bar.MyEnumType net.foo.bar.MyParent.getMyEnum() The enum I've defined is below. This is now how it comes out after being consumed, but it's how I have it defined on the app server: @XmlType(name = "MyEnumType") @XmlEnum public enum MyEnumType { Val1("Val1"), Val2("Val2") private final String value; MyEnumType(String v) { value = v; } public String value() { return value; } public static MyEnumType fromValue(String v) { if (v == null || v.length() == 0) { return null; } if (v.equals("Val1")) { return MyEnumType.Val1; } if (v.equals("Val2")) { return MyEnumType.Val2; } return null; } } I've seen things online and other posts, like (this one) regarding Jaxb's inability to handle Lists or things like that, but I'm baffled about my enum. I'm pretty sure you can't have a default constructor for an enum (well, at least a public no-arg constructor, Java yells at me when I try), so I'm not sure what makes this error possible. Any ideas? Also, the "2 counts of IllegalAnnotationsExceptions" may be because my code actually has two enums that are written similarly, but I left them out of this example for brevity.

  Hi, I have a menu where I bind data through: XmlDataSource xmlData = new XmlDataSource(); xmlData.DataFile = String.Format(@"{0}{1}\Navigation.xml", getXmlPath(), getLanguage()); xmlData.XPath = @"/Items/Item"; TopNavigation.DataSource = xmlData; TopNavigation.DataBind(); The problem is when my xml has special characters, since I use a lot of french words. As an alternative I tried using a stream instead and using encoding to get the special characters, with the following code: StreamReader strm = new StreamReader(String.Format(@"{0}{1}\Navigation.xml", getXmlPath(), getLanguage()), Encoding.GetEncoding(1254)); XmlDocument xDoc = new XmlDocument(); xDoc.Load(strm); XmlDataSource xmlData = new XmlDataSource(); xmlData.ID = "TopNav"; xmlData.Data = xDoc.InnerXml; xmlData.XPath = @"/Items/Item"; TopNavigation.Items.Clear(); TopNavigation.DataSource = xmlData; TopNavigation.DataBind(); The problem I'm having now is that my data doesn't refresh when I change the path where the stream gets read. When I skip through the code it does, but not on my page. So the thing is either, how do I get the data te be refreshed? Or (which is actually preferred) how do I get the encoding right in the first piece of code? Help is highly apreciated!

• Mixing NIO with IO

  Hi Usually you have a single bound tcp port and several connections on these. At least there are usually more connections as bound ports. My case is different: I want to bind a lot of ports and usually have no (or at least very few) connections. So I want to use NIO to accept the incoming connections. However, I need to pass the accepted connections to the existing jsch ssh library. That requires IO sockets instead of NIO sockets, it spawns one (or two) thread(s) per connection. But that's fine for me. Now, I thought that the following lines would deliver the very same result: Socket a = serverSocketChannel.accept().socket(); Socket b = serverSocketChannel.socket().accep(); SocketChannel channel = serverSocketChannel.accpet(); channel.configureBlocking( true ); Socket c = channel.socket(); Socket d = serverSocket.accept(); However the getInputStream() and getOutputStream() functions of the returned sockets seem to work different. Only if the socket was accepted using the last call, jsch can work with it. In the first three cases, it fails (and I am sorry: I don't know why). So is there a way to convert such a socket? • WPF Usercontrol interaction with parent view / viewmodel

  Hi I have a mainView window which has its dataContext set to it's own viewModel. On that viewModel is a DateTime property which in turn is bound to a datepicker on my main view using 2 way binding. <toolkit:DatePicker DateSelected="{Binding mainDateTimeProperty, Mode=TwoWay}" /> This is all fine so far. On the change of my datetime property I create a list which is then bound to a datagrid elsewhere on the mainview. This all works fine. My question is to do with a usercontrol I want to add to the main view. I want this usercontrol to be self contained so have created it with it's own viewmodel but it does also need access to mainDateTimeProperty I thought that best way to go would be to create a dependencyProperty on the usercontrol and when I create my control in the main view I bind the dp to the datetime as follows. <uc:MyNewUserControl DateProperty="{Binding mainDateTimeProperty}" /> Trouble is how do I have the usercontrol maintain datacontext with it's viewmodel and yet still have the dependency property bound to a property on the main view model? Hope this is clear. Can post some more code if necessary. Looking for a best practice approach if possible. Thanks very much for any advice.

• How can I implement NHibernate session per request without a dependency on NHibernate?

  I've raised this question before but am still struggling to find an example that I can get my head around (please don't just tell me to look at the S#arp Architecture project without at least some directions). So far I have achieved near persistance ignorance in my web project. My repository classes (in my data project) take an ISession in the constructor: public class ProductRepository : IProductRepository { private ISession _session; public ProductRepository(ISession session) { _session = session; } In my global.asax I expose the current session and am creating and disposing session on beginrequest and endrequest (this is where I have the dependency on NHibernate): public static ISessionFactory SessionFactory = CreateSessionFactory(); private static ISessionFactory CreateSessionFactory() { return new Configuration() .Configure() .BuildSessionFactory(); } protected MvcApplication() { BeginRequest += delegate { CurrentSessionContext.Bind(SessionFactory.OpenSession()); }; EndRequest += delegate { CurrentSessionContext.Unbind(SessionFactory).Dispose(); }; } And finally my StructureMap registry: public AppRegistry() { For<ISession>().TheDefault .Is.ConstructedBy(x => MvcApplication.SessionFactory.GetCurrentSession()); For<IProductRepository>().Use<ProductRepository>(); } It would seem I need my own generic implementations of ISession and ISessionFactory that I can use in my web project and inject into my repositories? What I'm trying to do is simply bind the Content of the label to the checkbox's IsChecked value.   I've set up a single table inheritance, but I need a "default" class to use when an unknown polymorphic identity is encountered. The database is not in my control and so the data can be pretty much anything. And in main page bind data using ids in session variable.Gridview - on deleting event i'm deleting that id from session and on deleted event updating both user control using a refresh method (Country1.Refresh()) and gridview panel. But updatepanel is not getting updated and even modalpopup is also not getting refreshed. What could be wrong here? Even though update and refresh events are fired and executed, why is page not getting updated?

• Model Binding, a simple, simple question

Using the default customer model binder the property will always yield null. I can fix this by adding ".Value" to the end of every form input name, but I just want it to bind to the new type directly using some sort of custom model binder, but all the solutions I've tried seemed needlessly complex. I feel like I should be able to extend the default binder and with a few lines of code redirect the property binding to the entire model using implicit conversion. I don't quite get the binding paradigm of the default binder, but it seems really stuck on this distinction between the model and model properties. What is the simplest method to do this? Thanks!

• Make Python Socket Server More Efficient

  I have very little experience working with sockets and multithreaded programming so to learn more I decided to see if I could hack together a little python socket server to power a chat room. I ended up getting it working pretty well but then I noticed my server's CPU usage spiked up over 100% when I had it running in the background. • Wrong item checked when filtering ListView in android

  I have a ListView with multiple choice entries where some are checked from the beginning using setItemChecked(position, true); I combine this with the filtering option setTextFilterEnabled(true) so it's easy to find a specific entry in the list. The problem is that when I filter the list the entries switch position in the list view. Take for example three entries: 'A', 'B' and 'C' where 'C' is checked beforehand (i.e. the entry at position 3 in the list). When I type a 'C' on the keyboard, only the 'C' entry is displayed (as intended). Now 'C' is not checked anymore, since the entry has moved from the checked position 3 to the unchecked position 1 in the list. This behavior leads to some not very welcome effects in the app. Is there a way to "move the selection with the filtering", i.e. bind the checked state to the entry and not to its initial position in the list? Or do I need to find a new approach? Thanks, Linus

• WinForms Control.BeginInvoke asynchronous callback

  I have a number of Janus grid controls that need to be populated on an application startup. I'd like to load these grids on different threads to speed startup time and the time it takes to refresh these grids. Each grid is on a seperate tab. Ideally I'd like to use Control.BeginInvoke on each grid and on the grid load completing the tabs will become enabled. I know with Delegates you can do a Asynchronous callback when using BeginInvoke, so I could enable the tabs in the asynchronous callback, however when using Control.BeginInvoke this is not possible. Is there a way to do asynchronous callbacks using Control.BeginInvoke or possibly a better solution? From what i have learned here it would appear this is due to the items being placed inside a content presenter not the actual canvas i have specified in the items panel. Is there a way i can use data binding to determine the position of elements on a canvas?

  Hello! I want to have a border around ListViewItem (row in my case). ListView source and columns generated during Runtime. Can i put border through DataTemplate in ItemTemplate? I know solution, where you manipulate with CellTemplates, but i don't really like it. • Exchange Web Services and Property Sets

  I need to retrieve calendar information by invoking the Exchange Web Service in BPOS. I'm using a CalendarView with a PropertySet to retrieve as little data as possible. However, property sets seems to be limited. I need the EmailAddress of the one who made the calendar appointment so I thought I could use the AppointmentSchema.Organizer in the PropertySet. When fetching a whole Appointment I can get the e-mail through appt.Organizer.EmailAddress. But with the code below the Organizer.EmailAddress is always null. I've enabled the trace and checked it and only the Organizer.Name property is sent, nothing else. Does anyone have a solution on how to get the EmailAddress when using a PropertySet? • Internet explorer only executing function inside jQuery ajax success response once even though there

  Another jquery calculation question. There will be a variable number of items, based on a php query. I've come up with this to change the price based on the itemcode: $("input[name^='itemcode_item_1']").keyup(function () { var codeprice = this.value.substring(2,6); $("input[name^='price_item_1']").val(codeprice); }); $("input[name^='itemcode_item_2']").keyup(function () { var codeprice = this.value.substring(2,6); $("input[name^='price_item_2']").val(codeprice); }); However while it does that, it also stops the item_total from updating. Also, I feel there must be a way to not need to write a numbered function for each item on the list. I know I am a bit clueless here, but javascript of any kind is not my thing.

• How do I pass data from a BroadcastReceiver through to an Activity being started?

  I've got an Android application which needs to be woken up sporadically throughout the day. To do this, I'm using the AlarmManager to set up a PendingIntent and have this trigger a BroadcastReceiver. This BroadcastReceiver then starts an Activity to bring the UI to the foreground. All of the above seems to work, in that the Activity launches itself correctly; but I'd like the BroadcastReceiver to notify the Activity that it was started by the alarm (as opposed to being started by the user). To do this I'm trying, from the onReceive() method of the BroadcastReceiver to set a variable in the extras bundle of the intent, thus: Intent i = new Intent(context, MyActivity.class); i.putExtra(wakeupKey, true); i.setFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK); context.startActivity(i); In the onResume() method of my Activity, I then look for the existence of this boolean variable: protected void onResume() { super.onResume(); String wakeupKey = "blah"; if (getIntent()!=null && getIntent().getExtras()!=null) Log.d("app", "onResume at " + System.currentTimeMillis() + ":" + getIntent().getExtras().getBoolean(wakeupKey)); else Log.d("app", "onResume at " + System.currentTimeMillis() + ": null"); } The getIntent().getExtras() call in onResume() always returns null - I don't seem to be able to pass any extras through at all in this bundle. If I use the same method to bind extras to the PendingIntent which triggers the BroadcastReceiver however, the extras come through just fine. Can anyone tell me what's different about passing a bundle from a BroadcastReceiver to an Activity, as opposed to passing the bundle from an Activity to a BroadcastReceiver? I fear I may be doing something very very obvious wrong here...

• Using Prism with Ninject

  Is anyone out there using the Prism framework with Ninject instead of Unity? I need some functionality Unity isn't supporting yet, and I've decided to switch the IoC container to Ninject. I'm struggling a bit with the replace though.. What I need to use from Prism is the EventAggregator and the RegionManager. I have seen this sample that actually does the replace, but this is written for an older version of Prism, and several of the classes seems to have changed etc. So I ended up all confused after looking doing some effort in trying to rewrite it. So - my question is basically: How can I replace Unity with Ninject? What are the necessary steps? Initially I assumed I could write a simple bootstrapper that creates and configures a Ninject container and uses this to resolve all other objects. I bind IEventAggregator to EventAggregator and IRegionManager to RegionManager, but it fails when creating the Shell and the RegionManager.CreateRegion is called. Problem is that it seems like I need to set a ServiceLocator somewhere as it fails on this line: IServiceLocator locator = ServiceLocator.Current; Any ideas and tips along the way?
