I was doing: ArrayList<String> places = new ArrayList<String>(); places.add("Buenos Aires"); places.add("Córdoba"); places.add("La Plata"); I refactor the code doing: ArrayList<String> places = new ArrayList<String>(Arrays.asList("Buenos Aires", "Córdoba", "La Plata")); Is there a better way of doing this?     I'm starting to learn SQL and I'm working on this exercise: I have a "books" table which holds the info on every book (including price and genre ID). I need to get the name of the genre which has the highest average price. I suppose that I first need to group the prices by genre and then retrieve the name of the highest.. I know that I can get the results GENRE VS COST with the following: select b.genre, round(avg(b.price),2) as cost from books b group by b.genre; My question is, to get the genre with the highest AVG price from that result, do I have to make: select aux.genre from ( select b.genre, round(avg(b.price),2) as cost from books b group by b.genre ) aux where aux.cost = (select max(aux.cost) from ( select b.genre, round(avg(b.price),2) as cost from books l group by b.genre ) aux); Is it bad practice or isn't there another way? I get the correct result but I'm not confortable with creating two times the same selection. I'm not using PL SQL so I can't use variables or anything like that.. Any help will be appreciated.   • Show last command with up arrow on a linux c shell

    I have implemented a simple linux shell in c. Now, I am adding some features and one I immediately thought about was to be able to show the last commands with the up arrow. Question 1: However, I have no idea how to accomplish this. Do you? Question 2: Any comment on how to store the "history" commands are also appreciated. I suppose something like a queue which allows access to all elements would be a good idea. Am I wrong? Do I have to implement it or is there already some good implementation out there I should know about? Thanks.

  • How do I use a command line tool to install .net 4 to IIS

    I'm trying to deploy my WCF RIA services application to our in-house server for testing. I've been following the instructions and comments from this blog site: http://timheuer.com/blog/archive/2009/12/10/tips-to-deploy-ria-services-troubleshoot.aspx At the end someone points to this question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1528324/how-to-solve-a-http-error-404-3-not-found-error I've been trying to run that same tool with .net 4.0 but it keeps giving me an error: [Warning]The HTTP namespace reservation already exists. I am running the version of the exe that I found inside of C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.21006 There is also C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.0\Windows Communication Foundation that has (what I assume is) the same exe in it, and I can use it just fine. I've tried to un-install the 3.0 version before installing the 4.0 version, but I am still getting the same warning and failure. Has anyone successfully done this with .net 4.0?

  • Is there a DOS command for verifying what version of .NET is installed

    I have set of scripts for doing scripted installs. You can use the scripts on any server 2008 machine. However, I need to check if .NET 3.5 has been installed (before the scripts run) using a dos batch file. Is that possible? I know I can check if a file in the C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5 exists, but it would be nice to have something a little more reliable. I would like to check if it's actually installed, not just if the dir/file exists. Hope that makes sense. Thanks in advance.

  • Visual Studio 2010's Build Command: It does nothing

    I'm using Visual C# 2010 Express RTM with Windows Phone Developer Tools April CTP Refresh and when I run any Build option, nothing happens. I've deleted the contents of the build output folders and that doesn't do anything. I can't even run the project, because it complains the executable is missing (XNA Game for Windows project). I've tried the project on another computer and it builds just fine. Any ideas?

    I created some tables using MySQL Workbench, and then did forward ‘forward engineer’ to create scripts to create these tables. BUT, the scripts lead me to a number of problems. One of which involves the foreign keys. So I tried creating separate foreign key additions using alter table and I am still getting problems.     Hi. I'm trying to do the following in a bash script: com=`ssh host "ls -lh" ` echo $com It works, but the echo will break the output (instead of getting all lines in a column, I get them all in a row). If I do: ssh host ls -lh in the CLI it will give me the correct output + layout. Any ideas?

  • Removing whitespace between HTML elements when using line breaks

    I have a page with a row of about 10 imgs. For readability of the HTML, I want to put a linebreak in between each img tag, but doing so renders whitespace between the images, which I do not want. Is there anything I can do other than break in the middle of the tags rather than between them? Edit: Here is a screenshot of what I have so far. I would like the book spine images to display in random combinations, using PHP. This is why I need separate img tags.

    Just trying to figure a shorter way to do this: I'm using simpleXMLElement to parse an xml file and it's aggravating to have to call two lines to process an array when I know what node I want. Current code: $xml = new SimpleXMLElement($data); $r = $xml->xpath('///givexNumber'); $result["cardNum"] = $r[0]; What I would like to do would be something like I can do with DomX $result["cardNum"] = $xml->xpath('///givexNumber')->item(0)->nodeValue; Any ideas? I didn't really see that simplexmlelement can do this, but thought someone might know a trick or two.
