  • MSBuild Override Project Reference to resolve to Precompiled Assembly

    Situation I have about 400 csproj files using project references. About 3 of those a separate team wants to fork and incorporate into a standalone app. I branched the 3 projects of interest, and because the separate team uses a diff SVN repo I used svn externals to pull in these projects into the folder of the standalone app. Obviously since this team uses a different folder structure the project references no longer resolve. Attempted Solution I figured setting the msbuild properties ReferencePath and AdditionalLibPaths to point to a directory with all the precompiled dependencies would allow the project references a fallback point and resolve correctly. However that doesn't appear to be the case. Question Does anybody know a way to have a failed projectreference look up resolve to the precompiled dll? Perhaps point me to an automated tool to convert projectreferences to dll references? Or is there a better way to solve this problem? Thanks

I want to add a couple of check-boxes and launch an app after the user closes the finish box. Is there a way to do this in Visual studio itself or does it require any other tools?     Hi all, My company is putting auto build and deploy procedure in place. What we are doing now is checking out source code from svn and specify the source folder in Ant script. Is it the right way? Can we omit the exporting process and build directly from SVN? Another question is to do with versioning. At the moment, we are creating a tag whenever there is a release and then use the tag number to name the build product, which will be shipped to a client's site. I've done search on the Internet and here and it seems the correct way to name a product is like this: x.y.z.revision. However, our company is quite small and the client always want quick changes and releases. I would like to know what the drawbacks of only using tag number to name the product? And what would be the best approach for small companies like us? Thankyou, Sarah

  • Exceptions using CruiseControl.NET

    I recently updated to CC.NET 1.5 and I'm now getting some strange exceptions. On one project I get: - ThoughtWorks.CruiseControl.Core.CruiseControlException: Source control operation failed: svn: Can't create a character converter from native encoding to 'UTF-8' This happens when CC is checking a subversion repository for any mods. If I run the actual command line CC says is failing it works and returns an empty XML (there are no mods). Some other projects also fail to check mods with another "Source control operation failed" exception but no further info. Again the command is an "svn log" which when run from command line works ok. I'm using subversion 1.4.5 client side and my source repository exists on a separate box than my build server. Anyone got any ideas?

    I have downloaded and installed the latest Window V2 Community M06 build of Neo4j on a windows 7 64 bit machine (I have tried the 32bit and 64 bit installs). Installation proceeds without and problems and the system runs normally but there is no /plugins directory (on both versions):- \Program Files (x86)\Neo4j Community\ \Program Files (x86)\Neo4j Community\.install4j \Program Files (x86)\Neo4j Community\bin I am trying to install the Spatial plugin .. so I tried creating the \plugins directory.     Hi, I installed uppercut in my system successfully, Then i installed cc.net, for automated build revision number, I followed all the steps in the following site, http://ferventcoder.com/archive/2009/05/21/uppercut---automated-builds---cruisecontrol.net-integration.aspx The same config code in that site i used to integrate but still i could find the following error when i run the cc.net svn folder Unable to execute file [D:\CodeBuild\abc\svn]. The file may not exist or may not be executable. --- System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: The system cannot find the file specified.. Is there any different procedure to install cc.net?? I just run the exe and it said set virtual memory manually, When does the build and revision number increase?? Please help me......... I m n trouble

  • Android app crashes when I change the default xml layout file to another

    I am currently just starting to learn android development and have created a basic "Hello world" app that uses "activity_main.xml" for the default layout. I tried to create a new layout xml file called "new_layout.xml" with a text view, a text field and a button and did the following changes in the MainActivity.java file: setContentView(R.layout.new_layout); I did nothing else expect for adding a new_layout.xml in the res/layout folder, I have tried restarting and cleaning the project but nothing.   • What's the use of Ant's extension-point if/unless attributes?

    When you define an extension-point in an Ant build file you can have it conditional by using the if or unless attribute. On a target the if/unless prevent it's tasks from being run. But an extension-point doesn't have any tasks to conditionally run, so what does the condition do? My thought (which proved to be incorrect in Ant 1.8.0) is it would prevent any tasks that extend the extension-point from being run.   • Including libraries in project. Best practise.

    Hi guys, I'm writing a Python open-source app. My app uses some open source Python libraries. These libraries in turn use other open-source libraries. I intend to release my code at Sourceforge or Google Code but do I need to include the sources of the other libraries? Is this a good practice? ...or should I simply write this information into a README file informing the use about the other required libraries. I've placed all these libraries into a libs sub folder in my source directory. When checking my code into SVN, should I use something called svn:externals to link to other sources? Is there a way to dynamically update my libraries to the latest version or is this something I have to do manually when I release a new version. My sincerest apologies if my question sounds vague but I'm pretty lost in this matter and I don't know what to Google for. Thanks all.

    Hi, even though there was no error when installing Subclipse in Eclipse. I won't see the SVN perspective at all? I have tried with "Eclipse Classic 3.5.1" and with "Eclipse for PHP Developers". After downloading and unzipping the packages I used Eclipse's "Install Software" mechanism to install Subclipse 1.6.x. But after Eclipse re-starts I don't get any SVN Repository perspective? I have tried to un-install/re-install all the software components many times now.   • IntellIJ editor doesn't appear

    I updated my IntellIJ install to the latest version (11.1.4) and now the Editor window doesn't appear. Double-clicking on the file, jump-to-source, nothing happens. No error message, it just doesn't appear. If I double-click on an xml layout file the preview window works, but no Editor window. Have installed and reinstalled; went back to an earlier version and it doesn't work there either. I'm at a loss. Any ideas? Update: Editor works if I create a new project.     I've been testing Hudson for a few days now and for PHP projects it seems ok; What I need though is a system that will allow me to publish an SVN tag to an FTP folder without adding a pile of rubbish on the end; hudson gets overexcited and adds a pile of folders to the export. Are their any other decent systems; it needs to be simple to use as this will eventually fall under the control of 'admins' in order to meet sox compliance (aka the man with the gun cant pull the trigger). Basic Requirements: Must be free and downloadable to a server (FTP's internal only here) Needs to be able to interact with SVN Needs to be able to publish to FTP Needs matrix login permissions (or AD if its something that can go on IIS) Needs to be auditable (logging) Tell me if im not being clear enough here; thanks. EmleBranches2.0 shows that what I actually did was set it to mirror the SourceForge project.   • Mac OS X bash prompt bug?

    I am trying to set my bash prompt to display the time and current directory in bold: export PS1="\[\e[1m\][\A] \w \$ \[\e[0m\]" This does apparently work, but when I use the command history (ctrl-r), after finding the command I was searching for and pressing enter, this line is not displayed correctly. Here is an example: [21:58] ~/Wyona/svn-repos/zwischengas $ (reverse-i-search)`ta': tail -F logs/log4j-cnode1.log becomes, after pressing enter: [21:58] ~/Wyona/svn-repos/zwischengas $ -F logs/log4j-cnode1.log Of course, this is not "really" a problem, since the command does work correctly, but it is still annoying.
