  So I have an excel workbook that has a nice global map of shaperange objects. With some very simple code I can change the colors, group and ungroup collections of countries into arrays, etc...and it works pretty well. However, I would like to bring this into Access. So I could copy and paste all the shapes into an access form manually, but then they become pictures and I cannot change the colors of the countries (shaperange objects) to have the map act interactively as I can in excel. So I am thinking that I know how to use excel functions from access, and how to open excel from access. Is there a way to copy an object from excel (I know the file name and the shape name that i mean to copy everytime), and bringing it back to access to paste on a form? Atypical, I know, all my Access questions are. Thanks!

• showing current location ,along with another location in iphone

  hellow all, in xcode whenever we load a mapview ,it automaticallay shows the current user location right. In my case i am showing another location on map ,such that the map loads the current location and zoomed to the location i have given .. but, the current location point was not showing (the blue one which comes automaticay..). i have given mapView.showCurrentLocation=TRUE; but its not showing . so could any one tells the way it works and it should say the current location mark and then zoomed to the point i have given. • Android: who can help me with setting up this google maps class please??

  Hi, Firstly this has turned out to be quite a long post so please bear with me as its not too difficult but you may need to clarify something with me if i haven't explained it correctly. So with some help the other day from guys on this forum, i managed to partially set up my 'mapClass' class, but i'm having trouble with it and its not running correctly so i would like some help if possible. I will post the code below so you can see. What Ive got is a 'Dundrum' class which sets up the listView for an array of items. Then ive got a 'dundrumSelector' class which I use to set up the setOnClickListener() methods on the listItems and link them to their correct views. The onClick() events don't even work from the listView to get into the correct views. I have to comment out the methods in 'DundrumSelector' before I can get into their views. And this is what I dont understand, firstly why wont the onClick() events work, because its not even on that next view where the map is. I know this is a very long post and it might be quite confusing so let me know if you want any clarification.. Just to recap, what i'm trying to do is just have one class that sets up the map coordinates, like what i'm trying to do in my 'mapClass'. • Why wont numpy matrix let me print its rows?

  Okay this is probably a really dumb question, however its really starting to hurt. I have a numpy matrix, and basically i print it out row by row. • geom_tile heatmap with different high fill colours based on factor

  I'm interested in building a heatmap with geom_tile in ggplot2 that uses a different gradient high color based on a factor. The plot below creates the plot where the individual tiles are colored blue or red based on the xy_type, but there is no gradient. ggplot() + geom_tile(data=mydata, aes(x=factor(myx), y=myy, fill=factor(xy_type))) + scale_fill_manual(values=c("blue", "red")) The plot below does not use the xy_type factor to choose the color, but I get a single group gradient based on the xy_avg_value. ggplot() + geom_tile(data=mydata, aes(x=factor(myx), y=myy, fill=xy_avg_value)) Is there a technique to blend these two plots? I can use a facet_grid(xy_type ~ .) to create separate plots of this data, with the gradient. As this is ultimately going to be a map (x~y coordinates), I'd like to find a way to display the different gradient together in a single geom_tile map.

I know how to map it without attributes but not in this case. I have not found an answer in the documentation. • How to match multiple substrings in jQuery combobox autocomplete

  I found more than a couple examples of this with a plain jquery autocomplete but not in a way that will work with the autocomplete included in the combobox code from the demo because the structure of the code is structured so differently. I want to match every item that has all of the search tokens anywhere in any word. I don't need to match the start of any word, any part of it is fine. I don't care if the search strings are highlighted in the autocomplete list if that makes things too complicated. Desired search/result combos: (please excuse the spacing) "fi th" "fi rst second th ird" "rs on" "fi rs t sec on d third" "ec rd" "first s ec ond thi rd" but not limited to any max/min length or number of tokens. • Inconsistent Loading Times for GeoRSS Overlay Between Firefox and IE

  I have a very simple page built to display a map and overlay a line based on points in a GeoRSS XML file. Here is the publicly accessible file. http://68.178.230.189/georssimport.html Firefox is loading in about 5 secs, which is expected because there are a lot of points to map, but IE (6 & 7) is taking upwards of 45 secs to a minute. What can I do to diagnose what is going on? What is a tool that will show me what is going on? (i.e. Firebug for IE) Thanks, Mark

  I have been working on a concept for a while for a sports related website where users can record a location on a map and put that location into a category for a sport and then rate it by a metric or two. I want these metrics displayed on the map but then I want a link or button to view a full page description. I know that this is possible with Google Maps but I don't know a lot about Open Street Maps or other options. I am expecting around 50,000 views a day and am curious as to what the best option would be.

• Moving a unit precisely along a path in x,y coordinates

  I am playing around with a strategy game where squads move around a map. Each turn a certain amount of movement is allocated to a squad and if the squad has a destination the points are applied each turn until the destination is reached. Actual distance is used so if a squad moves one position in the x or y direction it uses one point, but moving diagonally takes ~1.4 points. The squad maintains actual position as float which is then rounded to allow drawing the position on the map. The path is described by touching the squad and dragging to the end position then lifting the pen or finger. (I'm doing this on an iPhone now but Android/Qt/Windows Mobile would work the same) As the pointer moves x, y points are recorded so that the squad gains a list of intermediate destinations on the way to the final destination. I'm finding that the destinations are not evenly spaced but can be further apart depending on the speed of the pointer movement. Following the path is important because obstacles or terrain matter in this game. I'm not trying to remake Flight Control but that's a similar mechanic. Here's what I've been doing, but it just seems too complicated (pseudocode): getDestination() { - self.nextDestination = remove_from_array(destinations) - self.gradient = delta y to destination / delta x to destination - self.angle = atan(self.gradient) - self.cosAngle = cos(self.angle) - self.sinAngle = sin(self.angle) } move() { - get movement allocation for this turn - if self.nextDestination not valid - - getNextDestination() - while(nextDestination valid) && (movement allocation remains) { - - find xStep and yStep using movement allocation and sinAngle/cosAngle calculated for current self.nextDestination - - if current position + xStep crosses the destination - - - find x movement remaining after self.nextDestination reached - - - calculate remaining direct path movement allocation (xStep remaining / cosAngle) - - - make self.position equal to self.nextDestination - - else - - - apply xStep and yStep to current position - } - round squad's float coordinates to integer screen coordinates - draw squad image on map } That's simplified of course, stuff like sign needs to be tweaked to ensure movement is in the right direction. If trig is the best way to do it then lookup tables can be used or maybe it doesn't matter on modern devices like it used to. Suggestions for a better way to do it? an update - iPhone has zero issues with trig and tracking tens of positions and tracks implemented as described above and it draws in floats anyway. The Bresenham method is more efficient, trig is more precise. If I was to use integer Bresenham I would want to multiply by ten or so to maintain a little more positional accuracy to benefit collisions/terrain detection.

  I have a CDbActiveRecord setup and I have a instance of the CGridView class setup as a widget. Basically my end game is I need a table, but each row to contain the primary key of the row associated with the Active Record.   TLDR I have a function that runs on the end of a pan in an openlayers map. Don't want it to fire continously. I have a function that runs on the end of panning a map. I want it so that it will not fire the function until say 3 secconds after the pan has finished. Although I don't want to queue up the function to fire 10 or so times like setTimeout is currently doing. How can I delay a function from running for n seconds then run it only once no matter how many times it has been called?

  I often have a need to take a list of objects and group them into a Map based on a value contained in the object. Eg. take a list of Users and group by Country. My code for this usually looks like: Map<String, List<User>> usersByCountry = new HashMap<String, List<User>>(); for(User user : listOfUsers) { if(usersByCountry.containsKey(user.getCountry())) { //Add to existing list usersByCountry.get(user.getCountry()).add(user); } else { //Create new list List<User> users = new ArrayList<User>(1); users.add(user); usersByCountry.put(user.getCountry(), users); } } However I can't help thinking that this is awkward and some guru has a better approach. The closest I can see so far is the MultiMap from Google Collections. Are there any standard approaches? Thanks!

• Multiple robots.txt for subdomains in rails

  I have a site with multiple subdomains and I want the named subdomains robots.txt to be different from the www one. I tried to use .htaccess, but the FastCGI doesn't look at it. So, I was trying to set up routes, but it doesn't seem that you can't do a direct rewrite since every routes needs a controller: map.connect '/robots.txt', :controller => ?, :path => '/robots.www.txt', :conditions => { :subdomain => 'www' } map.connect '/robots.txt', :controller => ?, :path => '/robots.club.txt' What would be the best way to approach this problem? (I am using the request_routing plugin for subdomains)

• Calculate pixels within a polygon

  In an assignment for school do we need to do some image recognizing, where we have to find a path for a robot. So far have we been able to find all the polygons in the image, but now we need to generate a pixel map, that be used for an astar algorithm later. We have found a way to do this, show below, but the problem is that is very slow, as we go though each pixel and test if it is inside the polygon. So my question is, are there a way that we can generate this pixel map faster? • Connecting Android XML and Code

  I'm new to android and have gotten used to doing all my previous UI in code. I can understand the simple examples, but I'm trying something more complex and have no idea how to do it in code and XML. I'm trying to use the google map api and draw text on the map at a specified spot. I have succeeded in doing so by extending overlay and overriding the draw method using drawtext. This has pretty much accomplished what I'm looking to do, but I want have read that is poor practice. I now want to add a second line below the first and just using \n does not work. I can work it out using another drawtext method, but I figured it would be better to create a custom textview, I just have no idea how to position it using code and encapsulate it inside the overlay. Maybe the way I'm doing it is the best way...

I am using the Codeigniter framework but I am not sure if the problem lies there. Also using %20 or just a space in the url bar produces no different results. • Vim: different key mapping for different window

  My .vimrc file has filetype mappings for different filetypes such as : autocmd FileType sh map gf ... autocmd FileType ruby map gf ... While rewriting a program from one language to another, I have 2 splits, one with a shell script and one with ruby. I would assume that "gf" would take on its mapping based on filetype. However, it can only hold one mapping at a time. Is there any way to declare a mapping only for the existing file/window. I tried ":windo" and ":bufdo" but they work for all windows or buffers.
