  I am new to Microsoft Detours. I have installed it to trace the system calls a process makes. I run the following commands which I got from the web syelogd.exe /q C:\Users\xxx\Desktop\log.txt withdll.exe /d:traceapi.dll C:\Program Files\Google\Google Talk\googletalk.exe I get the log file. The problem is I don't fully understand what is happening here. How does detours work? How does it trace the system calls? Also I don't know how to read the output in log.txt. Here is one line in log.txt 20101221060413329 2912 50.60: traceapi: 001 GetCurrentThreadId() Finally I want to get the stack trace of the process. How can I get that?

• Update webreference gives troubles with different versions of dll

  In my application, I use some dll, let's say library.dll, version 1.0 In my webservice, I also use library.dll, but version 2.0 When I do an update of the webreference, the classes inside of the dll are also generated in the webreference. And this gives troubles because in my application, the classes that are defined in the dll now are also available in the reference and there is a mismatch. How can I solve this? I need to be able to tell the webservice to ignore the dll-code when updating the webreference in the one or the other way. I use Visual Studio 2008.

• Out of Memory on Update or Delete of Service Reference

  I have a Service Reference for a WCF project that has just over a hundred endpoints in my ServiceHost web.config. Every time I attempt to update or delete the Service Reference, it fails with an out of memory exception. I am running Vista Ultimate SP2 64-bit with 8GB RAM. I can work around it by going outside the project and deleting the Service References folder, then coming back in and re-adding the Reference. Is this the only workaround that you know of? Thanks!

  Hello I'm trying to create a div with contenteditable like the Facebook status update. Then I mean I want to show an autocomplete box when the user have written @. How would you do that. Currently I'm just playing with keypress and check if the keycode = 64. Somehow that works, but it doesn't validate if there's a space before the alfa, or if the user has unfocused the box, then focused it again. Any ideas? Or do you know about any plugin that works something like that? Tnx

  How to use optimistic locking with batch updates? I am using SimpleJdbcTemplate and for single row I can build update sql that increments version column value and includes version in WHERE clause. Unfortunately te result int[] updated = simpleJdbcTemplate.batchUpdate does not contain rowcounts when using oracle driver. All elements are -2 indicating unknown rowcount. Is there some other, more performant way of doing this than executing all updates individually? These batches contain an average of 5 items (only) but may be up to 250.

• Batch update records in Grails

  I have to calculate a "total" for each user based on individual actions -- that is, a User hasMany Actions and each Action has a point. So I need to basically get a sum of all the points on all the actions. Actions are added and subtracted regularly. Since this can be a rather heavy operation, it's not feasible that I execute the "total" each time I need it. Therefore, I am thinking of running the operation once a day for each user and storing the total points on the User as an int. Because I have thousands of users, I am trying to figure out the best way to do this. Should I basically iterate through all the users and call User.save() each time, or is there some kind of batch update mechanism I can use in Grails / GORM?

The ideal scenario is as follows: User tries to create an entity in CRM In pre-create hook a 3rd party library function is called (or web service or whatever), filled with relevant info, which tries to create the respective entity on the server If the call fails, creation fails in CRM If the call succeeds, the entity is created in the CRM AND additional fields are filled with return values from the call More specifically, I want to do something like this when user tries to create a new entity instance: try { ExternalWebService.CreateTrade(ref TradeInfo info) //this was initialized on the external server myCRM_Trade_Entity.SerialNo = info.SerialNo; CreateNew(myCRM_Trade_Entity); } catch (whatever) { fail; } What would be the suggested way to do this?   I am utilizing a asp.net Listview control which is causing a Failed to load viewstate error after a row is put in edit mode and the user clicks either update or cancel. The ListView control is in an ascx User control that is hosted in a parent aspx page. The parent aspx code-behind calls the a bind method on the ascx page which in turn binds the ListView. I am trying to isolate where and how this is happening but have not had any success and frankly I am out of ideas. Please offer some suggestions on what I should be looking at. Thank you.

  Hi, i have a 'User' model which has a has_many relationship to a 'Number' model through a join table 'user_number' model. I use accepts_nested_attributes_for :numbers, :allow_destroy = true in the 'User' model. Everything works fine except that whenever i delete a number from a user in the edit form, the associated number is deleted correctly in the 'number' table, but not the entry in the 'user_number' join table. In the update controller action i only use this: ... if @user.update_attributes(params[:user]) ... How can i force rails to also delete the associated entry in the join table?

Commit locally until I'm happy with my code Make branches locally Have one master branch that is the one that should be pushed to the server Update the website using a single command (git push origin master) If I set up a git repo locally using git init, and then push to a folder on the server, it doesn't work. When I FTP to the server to check the files, they're actually there. When I SSH into the server and do git status, it's not clean, even though it should be since I just pushed to the server. Steps I'm doing: Make a new folder on my computer (mkdir folder_x) Go into that folder (cd folder_x) Set up a new git repository there (git init) (git repository sets up successfully) Push the repository to the server using git push origin master (where origin is set up as user:[email protected])

But if the new value si null, it is just ignored. To use traditional Microsoft swprintf, set _CRT_NON_CONFORMING_SWPRINTFS. I know _strprintf is a macro which if _UNICODE is defined will evaluate to _swprintf else it will be sprintf. Now what is this _swprintf. There is a function swprintf, but why is _stprintf evaluating to _swprintf instead of swprintf. What is the difference b/w the _xxx and xxx functions? EDIT: Okay there are two definitions for the UNICODE version of _stprintf, which one is included? The one in tchar.h or strsafe.h?

• Selenium fails to find component after dom update (reRender)

  I'm testing a richfaces application with selenium. It works fine, unless I use reRender. (for those unfamiliar with richfaces - whenever an ajax request finished, parts of the DOM are updated/chagned/removed). So, after a reRender selenium (the IDE at least) fails to locate the elements which were within the reRendered area. Both FireBug and WebDeveloper locate the elements, and on "view source" the elements are there. So, is there a way to tell selenium to update its DOM "knowledge" with the latest changes? Firefox 3.5.6, latest version of Selenium IDE.
