    Hello, I was wondering if there's a way I could code some kind of "generic" FSM for a game with C++?. My game has a component oriented design, so I use a FSM Component. my Finite State Machine (FSM) Component, looks more or less this way. class gecFSM : public gecBehaviour { public: //Constructors gecFSM() { state = kEntityState_walk; } gecFSM(kEntityState s) { state = s; } //Interface void setRule(kEntityState initialState, int inputAction, kEntityState resultingState); void performAction(int action); private: kEntityState fsmTable[MAX_STATES][MAX_ACTIONS]; }; I would love to hear your opinions/ideas or suggestions about how to make this FSM component, generic.     I want the ability add properties and tags to a file (specifically ebook files and ebook related properties in Windows 7 but interested to go so for as many OSes as possible) For e.g. Example.txt or Example.doc or Example.epub should all store and carry properties like 'Author', 'Publication date', 'Tags' etc.. the properties should be stored with the file itself. Such that if it is transferred to another system it retains the properties (even if i need to install 'my app' to support this function on the other machine) How do I make this possible using .net (preferred) and what file system concepts should I learn to understand the underlying concepts and limitations to be able to implement this feature? Any application that already does this? Thank you

    I've just followed this example from Wordpress and I have successfully added an extra Meta Box in Post interface, and the value is stored in DB. Now my question is, how can I retrieve and display the content of this meta box? I'm trying the following code: $intro = get_post_meta($post->ID, 'post_intro', true); echo $intro; But I get nada. What am I doing wrong? And while I'm here, does anybody know if I can place this extra meta box above the default text box in Wordpress post page?

  • How to get custom form fields from controller -- a.k.a. how to not use date helpers in form

    I created a form with scaffold that includes two datetime fields. I replaced them with a datepicker, and now I'm trying to grab the date from within the controller. Instead of having ruby do all the magic work with the datefields, I instead just have to fields, start_date and stop_date that I want to use, but I can't figure out how to grab them from within my controller. Hints? Thanks!

    Heres the situation. Component B extends component A and overrides the init method to accept a different parameter. A also has a create method that calls init. If i have an instance of B and i call create, its calling the wrong init - it calls init in B, where i need it to call init in A. I dont want to call super.init() as there may not always be a super. Is there any way to specify to call the init in the parent component?

    Assume I have a budget of $10 (any integer) and I want to distribute it over records which have rank field with varying needs. Example: rank Req. Fulfilled? 1 $3 Y 2 $4 Y 3 $2 Y 4 $3 N Those ranks from 1 to 3 should be fulfilled because they are within budget. whereas, the one ranked 4 should not. I want an SQL query to solve that.   • Datagrid selects the wrong custom cell in my datagrid...

    Hi everybody, I am working on a problem since a week soon, but I still couldn't make it work as expected. I have a DataGrid which has HBox with a CheckBox an a Label as itemRenderer (see Code below). When I tap in to the Cell the standard itemEditor pops up and lets you enter the content of the label. Thats the standard behavior. I works fine except for 2 problems: If I enter to much text, the horizontal srollbar pops up, and the cell is filled with that scrollbar. As you see I tried to set the horizontalScrollPolicy to off, but that doesnt work at all... I tried to do that for all the different elements, but the failure is still existent. When I have filled more than one row, there is an other mistake happening. If I tap on a row, the datagrid selects the one below that row. That's only if one line is already selected. If I tap outside the datagrid and then, tap at any row the itemEditor of the right row will show up...     It is fairly well known in JavaScript that declaring variables within the global scope is a bad thing. So code I tend to work on contains namespaced JavaScript. There seems to be two different approaches taken to this - Adding your application specific functions to the libraries' namespace e.g. $.myCarouselfunction Creating your own namespace e.g. MyApplication.myCarouselFunction I wanted to know whether or not there is a 'better' solution or if they tend to meet somewhere close in terms of pros and cons. The reason for me personally deciding not to go with the library is for Seperation / Isolation / Lack of conflict with library code and potential plugins that are likely to share that namespace. But I am sure there is more to this. Thanks

    This is a very specific instance where I'm having difficulty getting Zend Form to produce the correct output and supply the correct validation. I may have to go create a composite element but thought I'd ask here first. Here is the HTML I'm trying to get Zend Form to produce.     Hi I been sort of using jquery livequery plugin and jquery live together. However now that I am using 1.4 it seems jquery livequery is not working 100%. It would actually run that code in the livequery and display and if I went to another ajax tab and come back it would go into this again.   • Really cool way to create custom UITabBar for iPhone app?

    Hi, I am doing a lot of researching lately about how to get a different looking with nice effects UITabBar on my iPhone app, but unfortunately I am only finding things on how to replace background color etc. Well, I've checked out this app called Momento which is pretty cool and presents a very slick tabBar: So there are a couple of elements here I would like to ask you guys if you could help me by giving me the right directions on how to get a similar effect :) Arrow above items: as you can see this app has this animated arrow that runs above the selected item with a very smooth animation. Selected Stated of the item's image is not that blue-ish default one neither the default state which displays in a different shade of brown and gray version. nice Items separators with beveled vertical lines. diferrent background image for the tabBar different height for the tabBar At this point after some research I am able to set the height and background image by subclassing UITabBarController but I'm still not sure on how to accomplish the other items specially the first one related to the nice arrow effect. If someone knows about a very good tutorial on how to do this it would be great for clarifying what can or can't be done by subclassing the UITabBarController and specially if can be done in Interface Builder :) I am just starting on this world off app development for iOS so if you could help me on that it would be really appreciated Thanks a lot in advance

I'd like to implement a recent patch to Rack that allows me to specify how sessions are serialized; specifically, I'd like to use Rack::Session::Cookie::Identity as the session processor.   • After I apply custom logic, next UI action crashes my app.

    I've got an team (eveningRoster) that I'm making a button add employees to. The team is really a relationship to that night's event, but it's represented with an AC. I wanted to make sure an employee did not belong to the team before it adds, so I added a method to MyDocument to check first. It seems to work, the error logs complete, but after I've added a member, the next time I click anything, the program crashes. Any guesses why?   • chained msi's/Bootstrapper/prerequisite?

    I have a few component msi packages that need to installed together to form the end application. The problem is: the components that make up the package can be updated and the component relaunched on the http file server.What approach should i take? The installer that i am writing is the 'master' installer. Which needs to be able to read what version of each component is installed on ther client machine in order to perform an upgrade only on that one component. Also if the application is installed for the first time the installer will download and install all required components. I am using Installshield 2009. I have looked into chained MSI's but the master installer is empty. as it needs to be as lightweight as possible. I have no idea how to write a bootstrapper application and my company perfers that i use installshield to write the installer. I have researched - and apparently pre-requisites are not meant to be uninstalled.
