  So I have an engine which defines some models and controllers. I want to be able to extend functionality of some models/controllers in my application (eg. adding methods) without loosing the original model/controller functionality from engine. Everywhere I read that you simply need to define controller with the same name in your application and Rails will automatically merge them, however it doesn't work for me and controller in engine is simply ignored (I don't think it's even loaded).

• Emacs How to redefine Shift-R for expected use

  I've checked my elisp files to make sure that I do not have any bindings that contain Shift+R (and I have not found any). I expect SHIFT+R to print an uppercase character, but instead I get R R undefined inside of the Emacs command line. This is only in C/C++ major modes. Any suggestions? Update: Describing the key shows that it is undefined. How would I define it for the normal, expected use (capitalizing the letter R)?

What would be a good syntax to do that? So far I've been attempting a CASE WHEN statement, but I can't seem to figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.   Everything seems to work fine until i want to submit the form and update the database. Wildcard mapping works on requests like "/navigation/edit/1", but when i submit the form as: var ajaxPost = function(Url, Params) { Ext.Ajax.request({ url: Url, params: Params, method: 'POST', async: false, scope: this }); }; it says "200 bad response: syntax error" and in firebug there is "Failed to load source for: http://.../Navigation/edit/1". • Is there a full REPL for Erlang?

  Is there a way to have a full interpreter in Erlang, not just a "shell". Since it is a dynamic language, not being able to define named functions in the interpreter is a little bit disappointing... I suspect that it is because compilation units (modules) must be explicitly compiled for their execution by the VM, but maybe a REPL acting as a dynamic/recompilable module exist?

• Converting WAV to MP3 on Linux with low bitrates

  I need to convert WAV files to MP3 files so they can be played on a website. I think that LAME would probably be the best tool. However the WAV files are low bitrate (around 8kbits recorded from a phone) and LAME's website states that it is the "best MP3 encoder at mid-high bitrates and at VBR". Is there is a better encoder for lower bitrates? If so can you define "better"?
