• Enter ID instead of name on submit (form)

  In my activities table, I have a user ID and a project ID. When a user (of admin level) creates an activity they select from a drop down menu a project. Here is the select query to draw up appropriate values: $sql = "SELECT usersprojects_tb.projectid, projects.projectname FROM projects INNER JOIN usersprojects on projects.projectid = usersprojects.projectid WHERE usersprojects.userid = '".$_SESSION['SESS_USERID']."'"; And for the tag with the dropdown menu, I have this: <?php echo $row['projectname']?> I have tried submitting the form with 'projectid' here instead and the project ID is stored successfully in my activies table. However, the user needs to see the project names (IDs arent exactly user-friendly!) And with 'projectname' as displayed, they can select the names of the available projects (to associate an activity with) but the project ID is not stored, how I link this up, so that when the project name is sent, the ID for this project is stored properly in my activities table. I'm also having the exact same problem with the users drop down. As the admin user selects a user from the drop down to assign the task to. I exactly what I want, but I think I may be using the wrong syntax! Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

• Single intent to let user take picture OR pick image from gallery in Android

  I'm developing an app for Android 2.1 upwards. I want to enable my users to select a profile picture within my app (I'm not using the contacts framework). The ideal solution would be to fire an intent that enables the user to select an image from the gallery, but if an appropriate image is not available then use the camera to take a picture (or vice-versa i.e. allow user to take picture but if they know they already have a suitable image already, let them drop into the gallery and pick said image). Currently I can do one or the other but not both. If I go directly into camera mode using MediaStore.ACTION_IMAGE_CAPTURE then there is no option to drop into the gallery. If I go directly to the gallery using Intent.ACTION_PICK then I can pick an image but if I click the camera button (in top right hand corner of gallery) then a new camera intent is fired. So, any picture that is taken is not returned directly to my application. (Sure you can press the back button to drop back into the gallery and select image from there but this is an extra unnecessary step and is not at all intuitive). So is there a way to combine both or am I going to have to offer a menu to do one or the other from within my application? Seems like it would be a common use case...surely I'm missing something?

  I'm trying to extract unique properties from a knockout.js observableArray of objects, to populate a drop menu. Being new to knockout, I'm really struggling with this! I want to iterate over a contacts list, and populate a drop menu with a unique value from each person object within the observableArray. • How can I set a Java applet transparency to show contents behind it?

  I've got a web page with an applet inside. This applet is a drop target on a drag and drop action from the OS, I simply take an image from a folder, drag it on the applet and something happens. I give this webpage to a graphic designer and he ask to if he can put an image behind the java applet so he can simulate to change the background using CSS (it is a skinned app and graphic design can change during execution). Practically i supposed to do: <div> <applet width="50" height="50" /> </div> with this CSS: div { width:50px; height:50px; background-image: url(image.jpg) center center no-repeat; } But it doesn't work (background is opaque). It is possible to set transparency to the applet without loosing drag and drop capabilities ? I'm searching something similar to flash wmode parameter. Better solutions implies only changes on the CSS/HTML without recompiling java class so the designing team can change the page structure without changing the Java.

• Javascript code works only when the page loads

  I have a page with a dropdown and two textboxes. The javascript code checks to make sure that if the dropdown says Appointment Made or Patient Scheduled, the appropriate text boxes will have dates in them. When the page loads and the drop down shows either of the two above, all works fine but when I change the drop down the script does not work. I have put an alert statament after the third line and do see that when I make a change to patient_status, the variable a gets updated but for some reason the script fails and does not prompt. For example if the page loads and Appointment Made is selected, the script will prompt, but if I change the drop down to Patient Scheduled, it will not prompt. • temporary tables within stored procedures on slave servers with readonly set

  Hi, We have set up a replication scheme master/slave and we've had problems lately because some users wrote directly on the slave instead of the master, making the whole setup inconsistent. To prevent these problems from happening again, we've decided to remove the insert, delete, update, etc... rights from the users accessing the slave. Problems is that some stored procedure (for reading) require temporary tables.   I have a class (mxml) that extends Button while implementing drag/drop support. When I drag one of them onto another, the drag receiver stays stuck in its 'over' phase until I click on it (As if something about DragManager.acceptDragDrop is preventing the MouseEvent from getting to button) Is there a way to make a button re-evaluate its phase after the drop? I've tried fabricating a MouseEvent and sending it to rollOverHandler with no luck. • jquery draggable/droppable issue

  Hey guys I have a drag and drop function that does not fully work. What I want to do is be able to drag and drop a picture into a div and have that picture pop up in the div. I have a list of 2 pictures right now, so I have the following function echoed for each picture. Both pictures are draggable and droppable, but the first one is the only one that appears in the div, regardless of which picture gets dragged in. I am not sure what is wrong because the jquery function seems to be unique to each picture.   I’m having trouble getting a AJAX/JSON function to work correctly. I had this function grabbing value from a drop down box but now I want to use an anchor tag to set it's value. I thought it would be easy to just use the onClick event to pass string to the function I was using for the drop down box but it doesn’t do anything. I’m stumped! • The same C# code produces different output in Visio Professional and Premium

  I have built a simple conversion Add In, but its behavior is unfortunately different with the different Visio Editions (Visio 2010 Professional and Visio 2010 Premium). The Add In takes a Process-Diagram created with Shapes from Stencil_1.vss and creates a new slightly different Process-Diagram with Shapes from Stencil_2.vsd. It loops through a Visio page and for each shape founded creates a new shapes from new master shape (from Stencil_2.vsd) and drop it into the new page. Geometry, captions etc. are the same, only the shape-appearance is changed. Below is the source diagram: When I run the code into Visio 2010 Professional the swimlane shapes are drawn correctly. When I run the same code from Visio Premium the swimlane appearance and layout are mismatched: Both times i drop the SAME Shape("Swimlane" from the same stencil) into the Page with the SAME Code fragment: Visio.Master vm = swimlane_stencil.Masters.get_ItemU(@"Swimlane"); Visio.Shape TargetShape = targetPage.Drop(vm, shape_x, shape_y); How could I ensure, that the code produces any time the same (correct) output?   Suppose I have a label control on a windows form called "UserName". How can I refer to that label programmatically using the label name? For example I can do: For each ctrl as Control in TabPage.Controls If ctrl.Name = "UserName" Then ' Do something End If Next This seems quite inefficient. I would like to do something like: TabPage.Controls("UserName").Text = "Something" I did some googling but couldn't find a satisfactory answer. Most suggested looping, some said .NET 2005 doesn't support direct refenece using string name, and FindControl method was asp.net only... EDIT Thanks for the response so far. Here is a bit more detail. I have a windows form with three tabpages, all of which a very similar in design and function i.e. same drop down menus, labels, react in simlar way to events etc. Rather than write code for each event per tabpage I have built a class that controls the events etc. per tabpage. For example, on each tabpage there is a Label called "RecordCounter" that simply shows the number of rows in the datagridview when it is populated by selection of a variable in a drop down menu. So what I want to be able to do is, upon selection of a variable in the drop down menu, the datagridview populates itself with data, and then I simply want to display the number of rows in a label ("RecordCounter"). This is exactly the same process on each tabpage so what I am doing is passing the tabpage to the class and then I want to be able to refer to the "RecordCounter" and then update it. In my class I set the ActivePage property to be the TabPage that the user has selected and then want to be able to do something like: ActivePage.RecordCounter.Text = GetNumberOfRows()

• Tiny MCE (jquery plugin version) not showing toolbar in IE (works fine in other browsers)

  I had an implementation working well but for some reason IE decided it was tired of playing nice. I have an advanced implementation of TinyMCE (the jquery plugin version - see http://tinymce.moxiecode.com/examples/example_23.php for details). It still works great in all browsers but IE. In IE it shows the drop-down options for Format, Font family, and Font size, but only as text.. not as a drop down normally looks. All other buttons on the toolbar are missing. (I've tried IE8 and IE8 Compatibility Mode) I get a javascript error: Syntax error Line 36 Char 1. Unfortunately the javascript is being loaded dynamically so this doesn't help me. • Performance Problems with Django's F() Object

  Has anyone else noticed performance issues using Django's F() object? I am running Windows XP SP3 and developing against the Django trunk. A snippet of the models I'm using and the query I'm building are below. When I have the F() object in place, each call to a QuerySet method (e.g. filter, exclude, order_by, distinct, etc.) takes approximately 2 seconds, but when I comment out the F() clause the calls are sub-second. I had a co-worker test it on his Ubuntu machine, and he is not experiencing the same performance issues I am with the F() clause. • jQuery ajax response not operating correctly

  Ok this is frustrating... The code below works "correctly" as far as sending the email address to the SaveEmail URL and it gets saved correctly each time I change the drop down. However it only outputs the "Successful" message once, no matter how many times I change the value in the drop down. The "data" that is returned is "Successful". I would like to show the message for a couple seconds, then fade it out. • Have a clickable button on top of a combobox in WPF

  I can get a button to appear and be clickable in the drop down list of a combo box, but I cannot get the selected combo box item (the drop list is closed) to have the button be clickable. It always skips the button click and just opens the drop down list. I basically want the Button_Click event handler that I setup to be called once it is clicked. • Using placeholders/variables in a sed command

  I want to store a specific part of a matched result as a variable to be used for replacement later. I would like to keep this in a one liner instead of finding the variable I need before hand. when configuring apache, and use mod_rewrite, you can specificy specific parts of patterns to be used as variables,like this: RewriteRule ^www.example.com/page/(.*)$ http://www.example.com/page.php?page=$1 [R=301,L] the part of the pattern match that's contained inside the parenthesis is stored as $1 for use later. So if the url was www.example.com/page/home, it would be replaced with www.example.com/page.php?page=home. So the "home" part of the match was saved in $1 because it was the part of the pattern inside the parenthesis. I want something like this functionality with a sed command, I need to automatically replace many strings in a SQL dump file, to add drop table if exist commands before each create table, but I need to know the table name to do this, so if the dump file contains something like: ... CREATE TABLE `orders` ... I need to run something like: cat dump.sql | sed "s/CREATE TABLE `(.*)`/DROP TABLE IF EXISTS $1\N CREATE TABLE `$1`/g" to get the result of: ... DROP TABLE IF EXISTS `orders` CREATE TABLE `orders` ... I'm using the mod_rewrite syntax in the sed command as a logical example of what I'm trying to do. Any suggestions?

• Why is my mouse randomly deselecting and unclicking?

  (Windows 7 x64, Logitech MX1100 mouse) If I click/hold/ the mouse, like on the title bar of a folder to move it, or to select text, the mouse will randomly "unselect" it and then randomly reselect at another point in the movement. For example, if I were to start mouse-selecting the above paragraph, starting with "movement." and then moving backwards, it might select as far as "reselect", but then the selection would disappear, only to start selecting again from "will randomly". I realize this would sound like a clear-cut case for a hardware issue in the mouse button, but I've narrowed out that that's not the case. The problem doesn't happen if I drag-move/drag-select slowly. But I can make the problem very apparent if I click and drag something fast. For example, if I click and hold the title bar of a window, and then start quickly dragging it around in circles across my monitor, the window will get "dropped", and a new window will get picked up in the process. Additionally, if I right-click anywhere to get a context menu (in Windows, programs, anywhere/everywhere), and then relatively quickly press the left mouse button to select something on the context menu, the context menu will disappear as if I had clicked "through" it. I haven't had any driver changes, system updates, or significant software changes/updates/installations recently, that might be a precursor to this issue. Again, the oddity seems to be the "speed" of action. Another note -- it seems that "lag" has a bit to do with it. If I click and drag a window around quickly, it might start to "lag" a tad bit, like it's perhaps moving too fast for Windows to keep up with the refresh/redraw rate, and that's usually synonymous with this odd deselect bug happening. (Batteries fully charged, no damage or recent changes to mouse, no changes that might affect/block wireless communication)

• Ubuntu 12.4 compiz - disable all compiz plugin - empty screen

  A friend of mine has installed on my new machine Ubuntu 10.4 (I have always been windows user and have no experience with Linux). I started to watch some tutorial about how to make 'Rotated Cube' using 'Compiz',but the cube appears in the form of a list (only two slides). I have thought this could be result of my video cards (only two - one from the processor and one from the motherboard) and they can not support this options. Anyway, I have decided to disable all compiz plugins and options because my friend has set some, and I started to think there is some misunderstanding between the plugins. After, that I got only empty screen(no menu, no icons, anything) and can do nothing. How to fix this? EDIT: When I remove the compiz stuffs (from the console), the menu is shown again. Then I install the compiz again (some of the effect are still not working). After restart or log out/in the menu is hidden again. I suppose that there are some settings that I've broken but they are saved somewhere in the system and remove the compiz do not deleted them and as a result they are activated after compiz is installed again and the PC is restarted?

  I'm trying to make network bridging to work on a Debian squeeze (I'm experimenting in order to make a QEMU/KVM virtual machine that will be visible to the outside network as if it were a distinct machine). The problem is that when I type brctl addif br0 eth0 then I lose connectivity to the network until I type brctl delif br0 eth0. • Mouse click-focus wanders in vmPlayer 3.0 dual-monitor

  Previously, a WinXPSP3 session running on a WinXPSP3 host computer ran perfectly fine in a dual monitor setup. No issues with vmPlayer 2.x. BEFORE updating to vmPlayer 3, the following problem cropped up. When clicking in a single monitor, you would get exactly what you expected. However, when the display was stretched across two monitors, the clicking would be to the left of the mouse cursor. The farther RIGHT you were, the farther left the click would occur. In other words, if you clicked on the system menu of a window in the upper left of a window on the left monitor, you would get the system menu. Move half a screen to your right and the click would be on an item about a quarter of the way over, rather than where you were clicking. And by going all the way to the far right of the right monitor, you could bring up a right-click menu on the far right of the LEFT monitor. I Hope I have described this properly. It's confusing, even in words. In single monitor mode, everything works perfectly fine. If, instead of using either UltraMon or DisplayFusion, you run a single desktop across both monitors (3200x1600), there are no mousing issues. Unfortunately, having two 1600x1200 monitors, that depth of 1600 makes that hack less than useable. My graphic card won't offer anything resembling 3200x1200. vmPlayer 3.0 did not alleviate the situation. The microsoft mouse drivers are up to date and so are the nVidia card drivers. Any ideas?

• Blank desktop when logging into a Virtualized Windows 2008 Terminal Server?

  We have a Virtualized Terminal Server running Windows Server 2008. When the admin user logs in, everything is fine. When anyone else logs in, their desktop and start menu is blank (they have the taskbar, start button, and quick launch links though). If I go into Windows Explorer, I can see icons in their desktop folder (although the icon image is missing and it is just displaying the generic icon), but can't run any of them. If I login with a user that is part of the Administrator group in Active directory, I get the same behavior except I can launch the programs found in the Desktop Folder of Windows Explorer. I cannot drag these items out onto the desktop though - The cursor doesn't allow me to drop them. From Task Manager I can see that explorer.exe and dwm.exe are both running. The Authenticated Users and Interactive groups are both under the Users group, along with our network's Domain Users group. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can fix it? Also, not sure if it's related but about 1 in every 3 logins just hangs at a completely blank blue screen (no start button, taskbar, or quick launch buttons) and needs to be disconnected / reset by an admin. Edit I just noticed that the desktop itself doesn't even respond to click events. It's almost like the entire desktop is missing. At first I thought it didn't respond to right-click events because of an AD policy, but then I noticed if you open the Start Menu and click the desktop, the start menu doesn't shut like it should
