• How to use crontab, .netrc, and git push?

  Hi all, I am in the process of automating the backups from various servers to a central point then pushing those config changes into a git repo so i can track any changes over time. The rest of the scripts are working well, I can copy / rsync the files across the network to a central point. The last script is to get the config files to be put into / updated in repository. • Binding a select in a client template

  I recently got a question on one of my client template posts asking me how to bind a select tag’s value to data in client templates. I was surprised not to find anything on the web addressing the problem, so I thought I’d write a short post about it. It really is very simple once you know where to look. You just need to bind the value property of the select tag, like this: <select sys:value="{binding color}"> If you do it from markup like here, you just need to use the sys: prefix. It just works. Of course, I’ve used a fair amount of custom ASP.NET Ajax markup in here, but everything could be done imperatively and with completely clean markup from the itemRendered event using Sys.bind.

• Hello, T4MVC &ndash; Goodbye, ASP.NET MVC &ldquo;magic strings&rdquo;

  I’m working on my first ASP.NET MVC project, and I really, really like MVC. • Running a WebLogic Portal (WLP) 10.3.4 Domain as a Windows Service

  To start a WLP server as a Windows service it is simplest to make your own script based on the provided standard script located at WL_HOME\server\bin\installSvc.cmd. The standard script works fine for a plain WLS domain, but lacks some classpath and options necessary for WLP.Start by making a copy of the installSvc.cmd script and naming it something specific to your domain.Next, just under SETLOCAL you will find where WL_HOME is defined. Here you will add the definitions you would normally add in a script that later calls installSvc.cmd (as per the standard documentation). set DOMAIN_NAME=gnma_test_domainset USERDOMAIN_HOME=D:\my_test_domainset SERVER_NAME=AdminServerset WLS_USER=weblogicset WLS_PW=gnmaAdmin01set PRODUCTION_MODE=trueset MEM_ARGS=-Xms512m –Xmx512mset MW_HOME=C:\Oracle\Middleware Note: I had heard of people using this approach who had issues with the length of the command line. For a variety of reasons I only want the Admin server to be run as a service. The standard documentation along with the example above should allow you to expand this to include managed servers should you feel the need.

• How to handle multi-processing of libraries which already spawn sub-processes?

  I am having some trouble coming up with a good solution to limit sub-processes in a script which uses a multi-processed library and the script itself is also multi-processed. Both, the library and script are modifiable by us. I believe the question is more about design than actual code, but for what it's worth, it's written in Python. The goal of the library is to hide implementation details of various internet routers. For that reason, the library has a "Proxy" factory method which takes the IP of a router as parameter. The factory then probes the device using a set of possible proxies. Usually, there is one proxy which immediately knows that is is able to send commands to this device. All others usually take some time to return (given a timeout). One thought was already to simply query the device for an identifier, and then select the proper proxy using that, but in order to do so, you would already need to know how to query the device. Abstracting this knowledge is one of the main purposes of the library, so that becomes a little bit of a "circular-requirement"/deadlock: To connect to a device, you need to know what proxy to use, and to know what proxy to create, you need to connect to a device. So probing the device is - as we can see - the best solution so far, apart from keeping a lookup-table somewhere. The library currently kills all remaining processes once a valid proxy has been found. And yes, there is always only one good proxy per device. Currently there are about 12 proxies. So if one create a proxy instance using the factory, 12 sub-processes are spawned. So far, this has been really useful and worked very well. But recently someone else wanted to use this library to "broadcast" a command to all devices. So he took the library, and wrote his own multi-processed script. This obviously spawned 12 * n processes where n is the number of IPs to which he broadcasted. This has given us two problems: The host on which the command was executed slowed down to a near halt. Aborting the script with CTRL+C ground the system to a total halt. Not even the hardware console responded anymore! This may be due to some Python strangeness which still needs to be investigated. Maybe related to http://bugs.python.org/issue8296 The big underlying question, is how to design a library which does multi-processing, so other applications which use this library and want to be multi-processed themselves do not run into system limitations. My first thought was to require a pool to be passed to the library, and execute all tasks in that pool. In that way, the person using the library has control over the usage of system resources. But my gut tells me that there must be a better solution. Disclaimer: My experience with multiprocessing is fairly limited. I have implemented a few straightforward which did not require access control to resources. So I have not yet any practical experience with semaphores or mutexes. p.s.: In the future, we may have enough information to do this without the probing. But the database which would contain the proper information is not yet operational. Also, the design about multiprocessing a multiprocessed library intrigues me :)

    Some times you need to prevent  User names ,E-mail ID's or other values from being duplicated by a new user during Registration or any other cases,So I will add a simple approach to make the page more user-friendly. Instead the user filled all the Registration fields then press submit after that received a message as a result of PostBack that "THIS USERNAME IS EXIST", Ajax tidies this up by allowing asynchronous querying while the user is still completing the registration form.   ASP.NET enables you to create Web services can be accessed from client script in Web pages by using AJAX technology to make Web service calls. Data is exchanged asynchronously between client and server, typically in JSON format.   I want to adjust the output from my TeamCity build configuration of my class library so that the produced dll files have the following version number: 3.5.0.x, where x is the subversion revision number that TeamCity has picked up. I've found that I can use the BUILD_NUMBER environment variable to get x, but unfortunately I don't understand what else I need to do. The "tutorials" I find all say "You just add this to the script", but they don't say which script, and "this" is usually referring to the AssemblyInfo task from the MSBuild Community Extensions. Do I need to build a custom MSBuild script somehow to use this? Is the "script" the same as either the solution file or the C# project file? I don't know much about the MSBuild process at all, except that I can pass a solution file directly to MSBuild, but what I need to add to "the script" is XML, and the solution file decidedly does not look like XML. So, can anyone point me to a step-by-step guide on how to make this work?   HI, I've surprisingly found problems, in Chrome browser, in calling window parent javascript functions. If I have a window with a javascript function defined in it <script type="text/javascript"> function dolink() { . . . } </script> and I have an iframe inside that window that makes this call using jquery <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { $('a.arglink').click(function() { window.parent.dolink($(this).attr('href')); return false; }); }); </script> the call to dolink function doesn't work. Stepping with chrome javascript debugger, it appears that window.parent.dolink is undefined. It's by design or a mistake that I made? In Firefox and IE it works fine.

  Here is my shell script (fscommand/blah.sh): open -a /Applications/TextMate.app/ $1 and here is my ActionScript 3.0: flash.system.fscommand("exec", "blah.sh blah.txt"); this does not work. If I get rid of the $1 from the shell script and the blah.txt it works fine. How can I pass parameters to the shell script? (yes, the shell script works fine with the parameter when called from the command line). Note: This is on OSX but I need this to work on Windows as well. Edit: "Doesn't work" also means no trace, no error :)

• jQuery doesn't work in IE8?

  Hi, I am working on a site here: mfm.treethink.net All the jquery works fine in Firefox, Chrome and Safari but on IE8 it gives me errors and the banner at the top doesn't work (which uses the crossSlide jQuery plugin) and as well the image rollovers don't work with the colour change. IE8 is telling me that the errors are on lines 53, 134 and 149 in the source, all of those lines are where the jquery function is declared. $(document).ready(function(){ I am running jquery 1.4. Oddly enough, the other piece of jQuery I have on that page works, the artist browse/select menu on the right. But the banner and image rollovers don't.   Hi, I have problem while using jquery maskedinput with asp.net textbox. • getDate with Jquery Datepicker

  i am trying to get date from my implementation of jquery date picker, add it to a string and display the resulting image in my div. Something however is just not working. Can anyone check out the code and have a look at it? • WebKit "Refused to set unsafe header "content-length"

  I am trying to implement simple xhr abstraction, and am getting this warning when trying to set the headers for a POST. I think it might have something to do with setting the headers in a separate js file, because when i set them in the <script> tag in the .html file, it worked fine. The POST request is working fine, but I get this warning, and am curious why. I get this warning for both content-length and connection headers, but only in WebKit browsers (Chrome 5 beta and Safari 4). In Firefox, I don't get any warnings, the Content-Length header is set to the correct value, but the Connection is set to keep-alive instead of close, which makes me think that it is also ignoring my setRequestHeader calls and generating it's own. I have not tried this code in IE. • Perl Tk button widget size vary with different xterm clients

  Hi, I have a perl/tk script in which I am creating a button widget of height 1. Now when I execute script through citrix xterm client I get button displayed. Again when I execute script now through xterm client in my PC size of button widget differs. Can someone explain why is this happening, and what should I do so that size of button widget remains constant with different xterm clients.
