• How can I stop my Jitter physics meshes being offset?

  I'm developing a C# game engine and have hit a snag trying to add physics. I'm using XNA for graphics and Jitter for physics. I am trying to split the XNA model into it's meshes, then create a ConvexHull for each mesh. I then attempt to combine those into a CompoundObject, this however isn't working and depending upon the model the meshes are offset by different amounts. This is the code I'm currently using and it gives me: Any ideas?

• Get selected object from TreeView

  I've been working on a minor (first time) app with quickly and hit a hurdle - how do I get the selected row (the data) from a TreeView? The data to the TreeView is passed from a list of files in a directory, and I need to know which rows were selected (and thus which files were). What is the best way to do that? • Syntax error in Maya Python Script [on hold]

  Ok this error is immensly frustrating as it is obviously a simple syntax issue. Basically I've written two lines of maya script in python designed to create a list of the names of all the joints of a model currently selected in the model viewer. Here are the two lines of script: import maya.cmds joints = ls(selection = true, type = 'joint') Upon compiling the code the script editor is saying there is a syntax error in the second line, but I do not see any reason why this code should not execute?

• Is there a factory pattern to prevent multiple instances for same object (instance that is Equal) good design?

  I have a number of objects storing state. There are essentially two types of fields. The ones that uniquely define what the object is (what node, what edge etc), and the others that store state describing how these things are connected (this node is connected to these edges, this edge is part of these paths) etc. My model is updating the state variables using package methods, so all these objects act as immutable to anyone not in Model scope. All Objects extend one base type. I've toyed with the idea of a Factory approach which accepts a Builder object and constructs the applicable object. However, if an instance of the object already exists (ie would return true if I created the object defined by the builder and passed it to the equal method for the existing instance) the factory returns the current object instead of creating a new instance. Because the Equal method would only compare what uniquely defines the type of object (this is node A to node B) but won't check the dynamic state stuff (node A is currently connected to nodes C and E) this would be a way of ensuring anyone that wants my Node A automatically knows its state connections. More importantly it would prevent aliasing nightmares of someone trying to pass an instance of node A with different state then the node A in my model has. I've never heard of this pattern before, and it's a bit odd. I would have to do some overriding of serialization methods to make it work (ensure that when I read in a serilized object I add it to my facotry list of known instances, and/or return an existing factory in its place), as well as using a weakHashMap as if it was a weakHashSet to know whether an instance exists without worrying about a quasi-memory leak occuring. I don't know if this is too confusing or prone to its own obscure bugs. One thing I know is that plugins interface with lowest level hardware. The plugins have to be able to return state that is different than my memory; to tell my memory when its own state is inconsistent. I believe this is possible despite their fetching objects that exist in my memory; we allow building of objects without checking their consistency with the model until the addToModel is called anyways; and the existing plugins design was written before all this extra state existed and worked fine without ever being aware of it. Should I just be using some other design to avoid this crazyness? (I have another question to that affect that I'm posting).

• The need to reduce mesh count

  In Panda3d, I load a model and place 10000 references to it in the scene-graph. It runs at (say) 2Hz. I load a 3d model containing 10000 copies of that exact same object, and it runs at (say) 60Hz. As does using the flattenStrong() command which is effectively the same thing but at runtime. So the question is: is this behaviour a peculiarity of Panda3d, or is it a fundamental law which applies to all games engines?

  I've created CustomTabItem which inherits from TabItem and i'd like to use it while binding ObservableCollection in TabControl <TabControl ItemsSource="{Binding MyObservableCollection}"/> It should like this in XAML, but i do not know how change default type of the output item created by TabControl while binding. I've tried to create converter, but it has to do something like this inside convertin method: List<CustomTabItem> resultList = new List<CustomTabItem>(); And iterate through my input ObservableCollection, create my CustomTab based on item from collection and add it to resultList... I'd like to avoid it, bacause while creating CustomTabItem i'm creating complex View and it takes a while, so i don't want to create it always when something change in binded collection. My class extends typical TabItem and i'd like to use this class in TabControl instead of TabItem. <TabControl.ItemContainerStyle> <Style TargetType="{x:Type local:CustomTabItem}"> <Setter Property="MyProperty" Value="{Binding xxx}"/> </Style> </TabControl.ItemContainerStyle> Code above generates error that Style cannot be applied to TabItem. What I'd like to do is to have a header for that column also with a combobox: altering the header with propagate throughout the column.   I just noticed some strange behaviour of WPF's TreeView. I added both ItemContainerStyle to bind to "IsSelected" of my ViewModel and an ItemsTemplated for custom display of my data. But now the user cannot change the selected node anymore. For testing purposes I created a similar UI using ListView and Expander. This version works as excepted.   Hi All I have a Listview that has a checkbox as one of the columns. If I click anywhere but the actual checkbox the SelectedItem of the ListView is set to the current selected row, as expected. If, on the other hand I click onto the checkbox (without clicking on the row first) then the SelectedItem is null or the previously clicked row. Can anyone help me out.... • WPF Ignoring ProgressBar Style

  Following a problem in WPF 4 where the default ProgressBar template has an off-white highlight applied causing it to dull the foreground colour, I decided to extract the template and manually edit the values to white. After doing this, I put the template as a style in App.xaml for global use and the Visual Studio designer began to use it right away. However, when I run my app, the default style is still being applied: I then tried setting the style specifically using a key, then even having it as an inline style and finally as a inline template without a wrapping style for the specific progress bar and it is still ignored. What's going wrong? Anyway, after adding the UseNetSerializer that error went away, yet now I'm just not getting anything. If I add a .Not.LazyLoad to the List mapping items, I'm back at not receiving errors, but also not receiving any client information.. Sigh! • WCF Web Service Gives 404 error in Azure

  I'm new to using WCF and Azure, but I have a WCF Web Service that works correctly when debugging in Visual Studio. I set the startup project to Azure, and I get 404 errors for any URL I try related to the service. If I disable the reliableSession on the client I get this message: The action is not supported by this endpoint. Only WS-ReliableMessaging February 2005 messages are processed by this endpoint. • ListView + MultipleSelect + MVVM = ?

  If I were to say "the heck with it!", I could just give my ListView with SelectionMode="Multiple" a name, and be able to get all of the selected items very easily. But I'm trying to stick to MVVM as much as possible, and I want to somehow databind to an ObservableCollection that holds the value from the Name column for each selected item. How in the world do you do this? Single selection is simple, but the multi selection solution is not obvious to me with my current WPF / MVVM knowledge. I read this question on SO, and while it does give me some good insight, I don't know how to add the necessary binding to a row, because I am using a ListView with a GridView as its View, not a ListBox. Here's what my XAML basically looks like: <ListView DockPanel.Dock="Top" ItemsSource="{Binding ClientPreview}" SelectionMode="Multiple"> <ListView.View> <GridView AllowsColumnReorder="False"> <GridViewColumn Header="Name"> <GridViewColumn.CellTemplate> <DataTemplate> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=Name}" /> </DataTemplate> </GridViewColumn.CellTemplate> </GridViewColumn> <GridViewColumn Header="Address"> <GridViewColumn.CellTemplate> <DataTemplate> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=Address}" /> </DataTemplate> </GridViewColumn.CellTemplate> </GridViewColumn> </GridView> </ListView.View> </ListView> It sounds like the right thing to do is to databind each row's IsSelected property to each object stored in the ObservableCollection I'm databinding to. I'm currently working with dummy data and trying to get the data in the DataGrid to update when the value of a combo box changes. I must not understand how ItemsSource and DataContext are supposed to function, because I expect one of those properties to "just work" when I assign a List object to them. What do I need to understand and change in my code so that as data changes in the List, the data in the grid is updated?

• Styling columns based on DataGridTemplateColumn in a WPF DataGrid

  I am using a WPF DataGrid where one of the columns has a requirement to show an "Edit" hyperlink if the row is editable - this is indicated by a boolean flag in the backing model for the row. I was able to achieve this using a DataGridTemplateColumn - no problems. However an additional requirement on the entire row is not to show any highlights when the row is selected (this is a blue background by default). I have been able to achieve this on other columns by defining the DataGridCell style with a transparent background, e.g. <DataGridTextColumn Header="Id" Binding="{Binding Path=Id}" HeaderStyle="{StaticResource DataGridColumnHeaderStyle}" CellStyle="{StaticResource DataGridCellStyle}" /> where DataGridCellStyle is defined as follows: <Style x:Key="DataGridCellStyle" TargetType="{x:Type DataGridCell}"> <Setter Property="Background" Value="Transparent" /> ... </Style> However the column in question, a DataGridTemplateColumn, does not offer a "CellStyle" attribute which I can use for turning off selection highlights. So my question is how to set the cell style when using a DataGridTemplateColumn?
