  • SQL Error: -443, SQLState: 38111 when accessing table metadata on DB2 zOS

    Hello, I'm getting following error when using Hibernate in a Java application over my DB2 database. This error occurs with one DB2 database and not with another (I'm almost sure the problem is in DB2 server side configuration), and I didn't found the difference between the two databases. The SQL error -443 is missing from the documentation I found: http:// rikipedia.co.za/index.php/DB2_SQL_Error_Codes (one link maximum per question due to reputation) According to following link, the 111 part of the sql state 38111 would indicate the reason of the failure. http://www.sqlerror.de/db2_sql_error_-443_sqlstate_42724.html Any idea ?   • Windows XP update not working

    I have a problem with XP updating. It hangs when I try to search for updates on the website. But the automatic updates still work. And it's running IE6, so I'm trying to update to IE8, hoping that will fix the problems with the website. But when installing IE8 it just hangs at Installing Internet Explorer 8 for Windows XP And if I try to install it manually, it hangs when installing the updates for IE8. So looking at these logs, is there anything going wrong with the update process?   • Remotely sync Time Machine drives

    I have an Xserve that runs Time Machine to a local terabyte drive. I also connected my external terabyte drive for a time period and had Time Machine use it to establish the seed data. I plan to take my drive back home with me (out of state) and have the Xserve return to using its local drive for Time Machine. But when I get back home, is there a way to keep my external drive's copy of the Time Machine Backups folder in sync with the Backups folder back on the Xserve? I'm wanting a full copy of the history (makes an awesome remote backup). I've thought of using the unix command rsync. In fact, that's how I had been doing it but I was looking the compactness that Time Machine was able to achieve. Thanks.

  • VPN with wrong subnet mask

    I followed these instructions on www.hottonetworking.com to set up VPN on a clean install of Windows Server 2008 SP2 (not R2 yet). When I then establish a VPN connection to that machine from a client machine (running Windows 7 RC), everything succeeds (it seems since I get a 'Connected' state in the network sharing center window), but I end up with a subnet mask (according to ipconfig /all) of 255.255.255.255 instead of 255.255.255.0. The net effect is that I don't have local network or internet capability. What additional configuration steps do I have to do to get VPN with the proper subnet mask working? Update: Using the steps outlined in the Technet article mentioned by Mr. Nimble, I was able to get internet connection. Apparently the subnet mask is not an issue as my coworker was able to connect using his VPN connection and ping the server machine by name as well.

  • SQL Server 2008 to Sybase Linked Server (x64) -- Provider and permissions issues

    Good morning, We're testing a new SQL Server 2008 setup (64-bit) and one of our requirements was to get a linked server up and talking to a Sybase database. We've successfully done so using Sybase's 64-bit 15.5 drivers, however I can't expand the catalog list from a remote machine (connecting to the '08 box with SSMS) without having my network account being added as an Administrator on the actual box and then using Windows Authentication to connect to the server instance. This is going to be problematic when we go live. Has anybody experienced this, or have any input on the permissions in SQL Server 2008 with regards to linked servers? If I remove my network account from the Administrators group, the big error I'm getting is a 'Msg 7302, Level 16, State 1, Line 41' with a description something like "Cannot create an instance of OLE DB provider "ASEOLEDB" for linked server "", and all research points to permissions issues. Thoughts? This document talks about DCOM configuration and permissions, but we've tried all of it with no luck. Thanks

  • Does a manually initiated crash (bugcheck 0xdeaddead) trigger a disk-check?

    Windows has an advanced function built-in that lets a user manually initiate a BSOD. It is a debugging tool used to halt the system in the event of (though not necessarily limited to) a hang or freeze. When used, it causes a BSOD with the string MANUALLY_INITIATED_CRASH1 and whimsical code 0xDEADDEAD. The point to this crash is that it is purposely done by the user, so it is not (or at least should not) be an unpredictable event caused by hardware errors or bad drivers (at least not necessarily bad drivers). The question then is whether performing a manual crash properly flushes the disk caches and such so that the drive is in a valid state when rebooting and thus forgoing the need to have chkdsk run.

  • Missing NIC and USB devices

    Coming into work today, I've found we have a fwe different computers (different companies/networks/OS versions - all windows based) that are all having the same issue. 1) Network NIC is not able to be viewed from network connections. If you refresh, its saying the service is not started. Services state the service is started and running. 2) USB devices are not recognized when plugged in, scan for hardware changes, etc. We have managed AV, that is kept up to date, and a managed patch policy that has all these machines at the most recent patch. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced these same symptoms, and what they have done to resolve them.

This means that right now Google now has the following information at its disposal: Who my friends are (Gmail) What we talk about (Gmail, Google Talk) What news sources I follow (Google Reader) How frequently I check them and which ones I consider important enough to share (Google Reader) A lot of other stuff What I search about and when (if I search when logged in) (Web search) I have no reason to believe that this information is used for reasons other than adjusting what ads I am displayed when I visit a site with Google Ads. However, I have realised that I am in no position to be certain that this is absolutely true, or that it always will be. On the other hand, I don't want to reach the uber-privacy-maniac state of maintaining my own email server and installing a desktop RSS reader in all my machines.     This morning we couldn't receive email from outside our company's domain (domain.com.au), but we can send email to outside (e.g hotmail, gmail, yahoo). When I tried to send email to my work email address using my gmail account, I received this message Technical details of permanent failure: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 Unable to relay for [email protected] (state 14). I tried using telnet to send email, and it works. But still I couldn't figure out why I can't receive email from outside. I'm not sure if I provided enough info. I'll try to provide as much info as needed to help me solve the problem. Thanks

    Let's say you have a btrfs root filesystem on an online system. You want to revert the filesystem to an earlier state, of which you have a snapshot: remount /dev/sdaX / -o remount,subvol=snapshots/Y For the record, I've done this in a test system, and it does not work. The command returns with no errors, but the subvolume mounted is the same. If this did work, what would be the consequences? My guess is that open file descriptors would still point to the old subvolume, thus possibly leading to "data loss" on the new subvolume, if one was not careful. Assuming one goes to the trouble of closing and reopening all open file descriptors, does this sound feasible? Or are there other types of problems?

    I'm trying to set up a stunnel for WebDav on Windows. I want to connect 80 port on my local interface to 443 on another machine in my network. I can ping the machine remote machine. However when I use the tunnel, I'm getting this error all the time SSL state (accept): before/accept initialization SSL_accept: 140760FC: error:140760FC:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_CLIENT_HELLO:unknown protocol There is nothing in the logs on the other machine and here's my stunnel connection config [https] accept = 127.0.0.2:80 connect = 10.0.0.60:443 verify = 0 I've set it up to accept all certificates so this shouldn't be a problem with a self-signed certificate remote host uses. Does anyone knows what might be the problem that this connection cannot be eastablished?

    We have observed some puzzling behavior from the CAs we have set up in both the past and present. For some reason unknown to us, it seems that our CAs are randomly issuing "Basic EFS" certificates to our users. This is evident through the "Issued Certificates" log on the CA. I personally set up a CA yesterday, and the instant that I installed certificate services it started dishing out Basic EFS certs to our users. They seem to be issued at random times: 1:51am, 2:20am, then 7:54am, then 8:03am... etc I looked at the certificate template for Basic EFS and there isn't even an option for Autoenrollment, so I'm seriously in a state of "WTF?!"... Can anyone clue me in as to why my CA has a mind of its own? Do CAs tend to become self-aware and lash out at their owners? Please help...

  • Restored Domain Controller does not display any information using dcdiag command

    I am testing restoring a domain controller from system state backup to different hardware in a non production environment as a sanity check for our restoration procedure. When i run the dcdiag command I get "blank info back" and all that is displayed are two lines as follows: Domain Controller Diagnosis Performing initial setup: and then I am returned to the command prompt. Even when I do dcdiag /v i get the same result. I have double checked the DNS settings and Active Directory works properly. All FSMO roles are being held by this restored Domain Controller. I am able to join test pc's to the domain without issue etc Is this a common issue or is there something that I am missing. Thanks.

    When running apache bench on the same server as the website like: ab -n 1000 -c 10 localhost:8080/ I am most probably not getting accurate results when compared to users hitting the server from various locations. I'm trying to understand how or rather why this will effect real world performance since a user in china will have different latency issues when compared to someone in the same state/country. Say my web server has a maximum thread limit of 100. Can someone explain in detail how end user latency can/will effect server performance. I'm assuming here that each request will be computed equally at say 10ms. What I'm not understand is how external factors can effect overal server performance, specifically internet connections (location, or even device like mobile) and http/tcp handshakes etc.

  • RDP from domain workstation to non-domain workstation via VPN

    I am trying to RDP from a domain computer to a non-domain computer over a VPN. I created a rdp profile for a specified user (for example user name: USERX) with the option to save the password. I am able to establish the connection the first time by entering in the password. However, from that point on, whenever the RDP link is reestablished, it would state that my login details were incorrect and ask me re-type the password for COMP\USERX. Problem is, I don't have a domain called COMP and the password would fail even if reentered. The only way I can reestablish the connection is by choosing the option to login as another user.

  • Gmail page works but won't stop loading

    When I open the GMail page in Chrome (9.0.597.102) on OS X (10.6.4), the page works fine and is functional, but it often remains in a "Loading" state, with the loading icon active, for extremely long periods of time. Functionally, there is no problem, since everything is accessible, and the problem is intermittent. Sometimes it immediately completes loading, other times it will claim to be "loading" for hours. My date is correct (as set with time.*.apple.com), and I don't have any Google Labs enabled. Does anyone else have this problem, or know the cause and solution?

  • Squid traffic tunneled through VPN

    So what I'm trying to do is have a Squid Proxy run on 1 machine along side a VPN connection. What I want to happen is all traffic running though the Squad Proxy would run though the VPN for its outbound. ie Desktop - (Squid Proxy - VPN) The goal is to allow my desktop selective tunneling through the VPN. So that Instant Messaging and the like that do not need to run through the VPN can go through my normal traffic. Typically I would go though a SSH Proxy but currently am forced to use VPN to gain entry into the office, and a Squid proxy seemed like it might work out the easiest for what I am needing. EDIT Realize I forgot to actually state what problem I'm running into. I have the Squid setup and verified it works, but once I connect to the VPN. All requests to Squid get accepted but Squid is unable to make the request over the VPN. So the client ends up just sitting there.

    I have a RAID6 array managed by LSI 9286-8e card. I also have Sans Digital 24-bay NexentaSTOR JBOD enclosure with SAS extender built-in. They are connected to separate UPS devices. Normally, I'd shut down the PC, leaving RAID6 in healthy state. But today the power to JBOD enclosure was cut but PC kept running. After restarting the PC, all disks in RAID6 have lit up RED, and the only option in LSI MegaRAID manager app was to reset each disk to unassigned, thereby loosing all data on RAID6 array. Thankfully, I am only testing, but how would I recover if this were to happen in production?

    I have installed available all components of "MS_SQL_05" as give named instance on Win-7. I had a default instance running of MSSQL08. While Installing MSSQL05 Instance I choose to use windows authentication. But now I got a problem and my database engine is not running, actually no components are working except I am just able to login to Integration service. I think there is some Username issue, coz It using UsrNm :'Anas-PC\Anas' which seems incorrect.     I installed the Driver v3.04A from Epson's Web site -- epson12180.exe that is supposedly for Windows 7. Now, the scanner works by itself, i.e. if I hit the scan button I get a dialog menu and can scan with one of the options there but not with Adobe Acrobat. What I need is to have it working from Adobe Acrobat when I go File - Create PDF - From Scanner - Custom Scan... The current state is that I see Scanner: "Please select a device" and no other available devices. I remember I used to see at least 2 other like "WIA Epson Perfection" and smth like "Epson Perfection". "WIA Epson Perfection" is the option that I am hoping to see to move on.
