  • how to pass instance variables between handlers (routes) in sinatra (without flash, sessions, class variable or db)?

    - by jj_
Say you have: get '/' do haml :index end get '/form' do haml :form end post '/form' do @message = params[:message] redirect to ('/') --- how to pass @message here? end I'd like the @message instance variable to be available (passed to) in "/" action as well, so I can show it in haml view. How can I do that without using session, flash, a @@class_variable, or db persistence ? I'd simply like to pass values as if I was working with passing values between methods. I don't want to use session cookies because user could have them turned off, I don't like it being a class variable which is exposed to all code, and I don't need to overhead of a db. Thanks edit: This is another question explaining a very easy way to deal with this in rails Passing parameters in rails redirect_to This is some more info i gathered around from forums. The following works for rails, i've tried it in Sinatra but no luck, but please try it, maybe I did something wrong, I don't know, and if this code help someone come up with a new idea, please share it If you are redirecting to action2 at the end of action1, just append the value to the end of the redirect: my_var = <some logic> redirect_to :action => 'action2', :my_var => my_var on the same thread another user proposes the folowing: def action1 redirect_to :action => 'action2', :value => params[:current_varaible] end def action2 puts params[:value].inspect end source: http://www.ruby-forum.com/topic/134953 Can something like this work in Sinatra? Thanks

  • How can I drop a SqlServer Backup Device using SMO in C#?

    - by C-Pound Guru
I can drop a SqlServer Backup Device using SQL-DMO using the following pseudo-code: SQLDMO.SQLServer2 server = New SQLDMO.SQLServer2(); server.Connect("myserver"); server.BackupDevices.Remove("mybackupdevice"); File.Delete("mybackupdevicephysicallocation"); SMO.Server.BackupDevices does not appear to have a Remove() method, so how can I drop a BackupDevice using SMO?

  • "EXC_BAD_ACCESS: Unable to restore previously selected frame" Error, Array size?

    - by Job
Hi there, I have an algorithm for creating the sieve of Eratosthenes and pulling primes from it. It lets you enter a max value for the sieve and the algorithm gives you the primes below that value and stores these in a c-style array. Problem: Everything works fine with values up to 500.000, however when I enter a large value -while running- it gives me the following error message in xcode: Program received signal: “EXC_BAD_ACCESS”. warning: Unable to restore previously selected frame. Data Formatters temporarily unavailable, will re-try after a 'continue'. (Not safe to call dlopen at this time.) My first idea was that I didn't use large enough variables, but as I am using 'unsigned long long int', this should not be the problem. Also the debugger points me to a point in my code where a point in the array get assigned a value. Therefore I wonder is there a maximum limit to an array? If yes: should I use NSArray instead? If no, then what is causing this error based on this information? EDIT: This is what the code looks like (it's not complete, for it fails at the last line posted). I'm using garbage collection. /*--------------------------SET UP--------------------------*/ unsigned long long int upperLimit = 550000; // unsigned long long int sieve[upperLimit]; unsigned long long int primes[upperLimit]; unsigned long long int indexCEX; unsigned long long int primesCounter = 0; // Fill sieve with 2 to upperLimit for(unsigned long long int indexA = 0; indexA < upperLimit-1; ++indexA) { sieve[indexA] = indexA+2; } unsigned long long int prime = 2; /*-------------------------CHECK & FIND----------------------------*/ while(!((prime*prime) > upperLimit)) { //check off all multiples of prime for(unsigned long long int indexB = prime-2; indexB < upperLimit-1; ++indexB) { // Multiple of prime = 0 if(sieve[indexB] != 0) { if(sieve[indexB] % prime == 0) { sieve[indexB] = 0; } } } /*---------------- Search for next prime ---------------*/ // index of current prime + 1 unsigned long long int indexC = prime - 1; while(sieve[indexC] == 0) { ++indexC; } prime = sieve[indexC]; // Store prime in primes[] primes[primesCounter] = prime; // This is where the code fails if upperLimit > 500000 ++primesCounter; indexCEX = indexC + 1; } As you may or may not see, is that I am -very much- a beginner. Any other suggestions are welcome of course :)

  • SubSonic error: db.tables with a ~ in the name result in a "Character is not valid" error

    - by Steven
I renamed a database table and added a ~ character to the table name (my way of notifying it is a backup of something). After generating the SubSonic files, my Visual Studio gives a "Character not valid" error on file "AllStructs.vb" When looking into this file the following line of code was generated; Public Shared ReadOnly DbTable1~old As String = "dbtable1~old". I assume this character has to be filtered out of the db.table names when generating the SubSonic names?

  • Do we still need backup code for people who have javascript disabled?

    - by SLC
I hear about it a bit in tutorials that I watch, that certain things won't work if javascript is disabled. Occasionally I see workarounds. The question is, are these relevent? I can't imagine anyone not having a javascript enabled browser nowadays, except the most ancient of phones, and chances are your page won't render on them properly anyway. Do people still bother to write backup code for javascript being disabled?

  • daily rsync backups with hard links, checksums, and a new computer

    - by user75058
I backup my laptop to a Fedora desktop daily using rsync with hard links. This has worked great for almost a year. I recently purchased a new computer, transferred over my data, and would like to continue backing up this computer daily. However, due to the data transfer from the old laptop to the new laptop, the timestamps have obviously changed, and will thus cause my daily rsync backup to re-transfer all of the data. I thought that by adding the -c (checksum) switch to my rsync backup it would match files based on checksum, instead of timestamp and size, and only transfer those files that are different or not present. This appeared to work, but upon examining the new backup, hard links are not being created, and it appears the files that should be hard linked are simply being copied to the new backup directory from the previous backup directory on the backup server. This is very peculiar behavior to me, and I am having trouble figuring out why this is occurring. Checksums match for files that I think should be hard linked. I have looked through the rsync man page and Google'd around a bit and have been unable to find anything for me to better understand this behavior.

  • Openvz: What exactly does it mean when tcpsndbuf failcnt increases? Why must there be a minimum difference between limit and barrier?

    - by Antonis Christofides
When the failcnt of tcpsndbuf increases, what does this mean? Does it mean the system had to go past the barrier, or past the limit? Or, maybe, that the system failed to provide enough buffers, either because it needed to go past the limit, or because it needed to go past the barrier but couldn't because other VMs were using too many resources? I understand the difference between barrier and limit only for disk space, where you can specify a grace period for which the system can exceed the barrier but not the limit. But in resources like tcpsndbuf, which have no such thing as a grace period, what is the meaning of barrier vs. limit? Why does the difference between barrier and limit in tcpsndbuf be at least 2.5KB times tcpnumsock? I could understand it if, e.g., tcpsndbuf should be at least 2.5KB times tcpnumsock (either the barrier or the limit), but why should I care about the difference between the barrier and the limit?

  • What is the "real" difference between a NAS and NFS? Or, why pick a NAS device over "mere" NFS?

    - by warren
From an end-user perspective, what is the difference between a NAS device and using NFS exports from a file server? They seem to accomplish the same end result. The difference between a SAN and other file storage is related (in my experience) to how they are connected to the server infrastructure. However, the difference between a NAS, connecting over a standard ethernet port, and NFS (sharing storage off specific servers, also over the network), seems more nebulous. Is there a good reason to pick a NAS filer over just running NFS on servers?

Hey everyone. I'm kinda new to android programming so please bear with me. I'm having some problems with retrieving records from the db. Basically, all I want to do is to store latitudes and longitudes which GPS positioning functions outputs and display them in a list using ListActivity on different tab later on. This is how the code for my DBAdapter helper class looks like: public class DBAdapter { public static final String KEY_ROWID = "_id"; public static final String KEY_LATITUDE = "latitude"; public static final String KEY_LONGITUDE = "longitude"; private static final String TAG = "DBAdapter"; private static final String DATABASE_NAME = "coords"; private static final String DATABASE_TABLE = "coordsStorage"; private static final int DATABASE_VERSION = 1; private static final String DATABASE_CREATE = "create table coordsStorage (_id integer primary key autoincrement, " + "latitude integer not null, longitude integer not null);"; private final Context context; private DatabaseHelper DBHelper; private SQLiteDatabase db; public DBAdapter(Context ctx) { this.context = ctx; DBHelper = new DatabaseHelper(context); } private static class DatabaseHelper extends SQLiteOpenHelper { DatabaseHelper(Context context) { super(context, DATABASE_NAME, null, DATABASE_VERSION); } @Override public void onCreate(SQLiteDatabase db) { db.execSQL(DATABASE_CREATE); } @Override public void onUpgrade(SQLiteDatabase db, int oldVersion, int newVersion) { Log.w(TAG, "Upgrading database from version " + oldVersion + " to " + newVersion + ", which will destroy all old data"); db.execSQL("DROP TABLE IF EXISTS titles"); onCreate(db); } } //---opens the database--- public DBAdapter open() throws SQLException { db = DBHelper.getWritableDatabase(); return this; } //---closes the database--- public void close() { DBHelper.close(); } //---insert a title into the database--- public long insertCoords(int latitude, int longitude) { ContentValues initialValues = new ContentValues(); initialValues.put(KEY_LATITUDE, latitude); initialValues.put(KEY_LONGITUDE, longitude); return db.insert(DATABASE_TABLE, null, initialValues); } //---deletes a particular title--- public boolean deleteTitle(long rowId) { return db.delete(DATABASE_TABLE, KEY_ROWID + "=" + rowId, null) 0; } //---retrieves all the titles--- public Cursor getAllTitles() { return db.query(DATABASE_TABLE, new String[] { KEY_ROWID, KEY_LATITUDE, KEY_LONGITUDE}, null, null, null, null, null); } //---retrieves a particular title--- public Cursor getTitle(long rowId) throws SQLException { Cursor mCursor = db.query(true, DATABASE_TABLE, new String[] { KEY_ROWID, KEY_LATITUDE, KEY_LONGITUDE}, KEY_ROWID + "=" + rowId, null, null, null, null, null); if (mCursor != null) { mCursor.moveToFirst(); } return mCursor; } //---updates a title--- /*public boolean updateTitle(long rowId, int latitude, int longitude) { ContentValues args = new ContentValues(); args.put(KEY_LATITUDE, latitude); args.put(KEY_LONGITUDE, longitude); return db.update(DATABASE_TABLE, args, KEY_ROWID + "=" + rowId, null) 0; }*/ } Now my question is - am I doing something wrong here? If yes could someone please tell me what? And how I should retrieve the records in organised list manner? Help would be greatly appreciated!!

  • SVN Error 403 Forbidden

    - by Chris
    I can't figure this out. I try to import a new project into a svn repository from Netbeans and get 403 Forbidden. I just setup svn on my serverbox today. I can get to it through a browser just fine, though its empty as I haven't imported my project yet. Apache's path for html files is /var/www I setup the svn repo in /var/svn This is the structure of /var/svn [root@localhost svn]# ls -lR /var/svn /var/svn: total 4 drwxrwxrwx 7 apache apache 4096 2010-03-26 10:18 repo /var/svn/repo: total 36 drwxrwxrwx 2 apache apache 4096 2010-03-26 09:47 conf drwxrwxrwx 3 apache apache 4096 2010-03-26 10:18 dav drwxrwsrwx 6 apache apache 4096 2010-03-26 11:19 db -rwxrwxrwx 1 apache apache 2 2010-03-26 09:47 format drwxrwxrwx 2 apache apache 4096 2010-03-26 09:47 hooks drwxrwxrwx 2 apache apache 4096 2010-03-26 09:47 locks -rwxrwxrwx 1 apache apache 229 2010-03-26 09:47 README.txt -rwxrwxrwx 1 apache apache 15 2010-03-26 09:47 svnauth -rwxrwxrwx 1 apache apache 43 2010-03-26 09:48 svnpass /var/svn/repo/conf: total 12 -rwxrwxrwx 1 apache apache 1080 2010-03-26 09:47 authz -rwxrwxrwx 1 apache apache 309 2010-03-26 09:47 passwd -rwxrwxrwx 1 apache apache 2279 2010-03-26 09:47 svnserve.conf /var/svn/repo/dav: total 4 drwxrwxrwx 2 apache apache 4096 2010-03-26 11:19 activities.d /var/svn/repo/dav/activities.d: total 0 /var/svn/repo/db: total 48 -rwxrwxrwx 1 apache apache 2 2010-03-26 09:47 current -rwxrwxrwx 1 apache apache 22 2010-03-26 09:47 format -rwxrwxrwx 1 apache apache 1920 2010-03-26 09:47 fsfs.conf -rwxrwxrwx 1 apache apache 5 2010-03-26 09:47 fs-type -rwxrwxrwx 1 apache apache 2 2010-03-26 09:47 min-unpacked-rev -rwxrwxrwx 1 apache apache 4096 2010-03-26 09:47 rep-cache.db drwxrwsrwx 3 apache apache 4096 2010-03-26 09:47 revprops drwxrwsrwx 3 apache apache 4096 2010-03-26 09:47 revs drwxrwsrwx 2 apache apache 4096 2010-03-26 11:19 transactions -rwxrwxrwx 1 apache apache 2 2010-03-26 11:19 txn-current -rwxrwxrwx 1 apache apache 0 2010-03-26 09:47 txn-current-lock drwxrwsrwx 2 apache apache 4096 2010-03-26 11:19 txn-protorevs -rwxrwxrwx 1 apache apache 37 2010-03-26 09:47 uuid -rwxrwxrwx 1 apache apache 0 2010-03-26 09:47 write-lock /var/svn/repo/db/revprops: total 4 drwxrwsrwx 2 apache apache 4096 2010-03-26 09:47 0 /var/svn/repo/db/revprops/0: total 4 -rwxrwxrwx 1 apache apache 50 2010-03-26 09:47 0 /var/svn/repo/db/revs: total 4 drwxrwsrwx 2 apache apache 4096 2010-03-26 09:47 0 /var/svn/repo/db/revs/0: total 4 -rwxrwxrwx 1 apache apache 115 2010-03-26 09:47 0 /var/svn/repo/db/transactions: total 0 /var/svn/repo/db/txn-protorevs: total 0 /var/svn/repo/hooks: total 36 -rwxrwxrwx 1 apache apache 1955 2010-03-26 09:47 post-commit.tmpl -rwxrwxrwx 1 apache apache 1638 2010-03-26 09:47 post-lock.tmpl -rwxrwxrwx 1 apache apache 2267 2010-03-26 09:47 post-revprop-change.tmpl -rwxrwxrwx 1 apache apache 1567 2010-03-26 09:47 post-unlock.tmpl -rwxrwxrwx 1 apache apache 3404 2010-03-26 09:47 pre-commit.tmpl -rwxrwxrwx 1 apache apache 2410 2010-03-26 09:47 pre-lock.tmpl -rwxrwxrwx 1 apache apache 2764 2010-03-26 09:47 pre-revprop-change.tmpl -rwxrwxrwx 1 apache apache 2100 2010-03-26 09:47 pre-unlock.tmpl -rwxrwxrwx 1 apache apache 2758 2010-03-26 09:47 start-commit.tmpl /var/svn/repo/locks: total 8 -rwxrwxrwx 1 apache apache 139 2010-03-26 09:47 db.lock -rwxrwxrwx 1 apache apache 139 2010-03-26 09:47 db-logs.lock I've got httpd.conf loading svn.conf which contains: <Location /svn> DAV on DAV svn #SVNParentPath /var/svn SVNPath /var/svn/repo Authtype Basic AuthName "Subversion" AuthUserFile /var/svn/repo/svnpass Require valid-user AuthzSVNAccessFile /var/svn/repo/svnauth </Location> Full error message is: org.tigris.subversion.javahl.ClientException: RA layer request failed Server sent unexpected return value (403 Forbidden) in response to CHECKOUT request for '/svn/!svn/bln/0' Sorry for the incredibly long post, but I thought more info would be better than less. I've been fidgeting with this problem for a long time now.

  • SQLite file locking and DropBox

    - by Alex Jenter
    I'm developing an app in Visual C++ that uses an SQLite3 DB for storing data. Usually it sits in the tray most of the time. I also would like to enable putting my app in a DropBox folder to share it across several PCs. It worked really well up until DropBox has recently updated itself. And now it says that it "can't sync the file in use". The SQLite file is open in my app, but the lock is shared. There are some prepared statements, but all are reset immediately after using step. Is there any way to enable synchronizing of an open SQLite database file? Thanks! Here is the simple wrapper that I use just for testing (no error handling), in case this helps: class Statement { private: Statement(sqlite3* db, const std::wstring& sql) : db(db) { sqlite3_prepare16_v2(db, sql.c_str(), sql.length() * sizeof(wchar_t), &stmt, NULL); } public: ~Statement() { sqlite3_finalize(stmt); } public: void reset() { sqlite3_reset(stmt); } int step() { return sqlite3_step(stmt); } int getInt(int i) const { return sqlite3_column_int(stmt, i); } tstring getText(int i) const { const wchar_t* v = (const wchar_t*)sqlite3_column_text16(stmt, i); int sz = sqlite3_column_bytes16(stmt, i) / sizeof(wchar_t); return std::wstring(v, v + sz); } private: friend class Database; sqlite3* db; sqlite3_stmt* stmt; }; class Database { public: Database(const std::wstring& filename = L"")) : db(NULL) { sqlite3_open16(filename.c_str(), &db); } ~Database() { sqlite3_close(db); } void exec(const std::wstring& sql) { auto_ptr<Statement> st(prepare(sql)); st->step(); } auto_ptr<Statement> prepare(const tstring& sql) const { return auto_ptr<Statement>(new Statement(db, sql)); } private: sqlite3* db; };
