• Security error accessing Service outside of FlexBuilder

  I'm very new to Flex and I have what I think it a head-scratcher. I am building a little Flash app that will consume some web services over HTTP. When I am in Flexbuilder and run my app there, it works fine. When I goto to my FlexBuilder project on my OS and double-click on it, it works fine. When I zip up my bin-debug file, I get this error: Security error accessing url faultCode:Channel.Security.Error faultString: 'Security error accessing url' faultDetail:'Destination: DefaultHTTP' So I googled that and got information on about the crossdomain.xml file. Well, I can't put a crossdomain file in the service I am calling, but I can put one somewhere else. So I put the following lines in Flex app: Security.allowDomain("vx1391"); Security.loadPolicyFile("http://vx1391:8080/job/Remote%20FIT%20Runner/ws/trunk/flash-cross-domain.xml"); My cross-domain.xml file is wide-open: &lt;cross-domain-policy&gt; &lt;allow-access-from domain="*"/&gt; </cross-domain-policy> Which I know is bad in a prod enivironment, but right now I just need to get this working locally but outside of FlexBuilder. Anyone want to help out this Flex-noob?

  Hi, I have been facing the same nested UIScrollView problem for long time.I tried some open source codes like Scrolling madness ,three-20 and others but all fails finaly.I am trying to make a photo Viewer application same as iPhone.For that I have created the structure like this:- 1)one View controller. 2)on view of view controller one UIScrollView (i.e inner/parent scroll view) as a child. 3)on inner/parent scroll view number of child scroll views(i.e. outer/child scroll views) ,each represents one page of photos application. 4)On each scroll view one image View on which i am displaying my image. So what I want is when user scrolls the outer scroll view it should scroll horizontally with all the child views so I will get the look and feel of paging in photos application.Also when user is on one specific image(i.e. child/outer scroll view) he should be able to zoom in/out,swipes and perform single/double tapping.I was able to make it work in sdk 2.1,but it dosnt work since sdk 3.0.Please tell me the idea behind your project.Means which scroll view you are subclassing ,in which view to detect touches.How this completely child - parent relation should be. If possible provide any sample code also.

• BitmapFactory.decodeStream returning null when options are set.

  Hi! I'm having issues with BitmapFactory.decodeStream(). When using it without options, it will return an image. But when I use it with options as in .decodeStream(inputStream, null, options) it never returns Bitmaps. What I'm trying to do is to downsample a Bitmap before I actually load it to save memory. I've read some good guides, but none using .decodeStream. • Issues Connecting to SQLExpress using Oracle SQL Developer

  Hey Guys, I'm trying to create a connection inside Oracle SQL Developer to a SQLExpress database I have Everything I have resides on the same machine so there isn't any network issues I should have to deal with but everytime I follow the instructions and I try to connect I get the following message "Failure - Unable to get information from SQL Server: localhost." I can connect to the SQLExpress DB using the SQL Management Studio and through an ODBC connection. I've installed the third party extensions and I've enabled the TCP protocol on the SQL Server Configuration manager as well as enabled the IP Addresses I'm assuming that the SQLExpress Database is on port 1433 because I didn't change this when I installed but if someone can tell me how to double check that I would appreciate that info as well. I setup the new connection with the following information name: databasename I'm using windows authentication so the username and password aren't filled in host:localhost port:1433/databasename;instance=SQLEXPRESS *databasename - this is replaced with the actual DB name I've just changed the name here to protect the innocent I've spent about a full day on this trying to get it connected and many google attempts where other ppl have had this issue but have gotten it solved through various methods that I've tried and it hasn't resolved my issue. • LINQ-to-SQL: Could not find key member 'x' of key 'x' on type 'y'

  I am trying to connect my application to a SQLite database with LINQ-to-SQL, and so far everything has worked fine. The only hitch was that the SQLite provider I am using does not support code generation (unless I was doing something wrong), so I manually coded the 4 tables in the DB. The solution builds properly, but will not run, giving me the error message Could not find key member 'ItemType_Id' of key 'ItemType_Id' on type 'Item'. The key may be wrong or the field or property on 'Item' has changed names. I have checked and double checked spellings and field names on the database and in the attribute mappings, but could not find any problems.   Hi, I find Yii great framework, and the example website created with yiic shell is a good point to start... however it doesn't cover the topic of multi-language websites, unfortunately. The docs covers the topic of translating short messages, but not keeping the multi-lingual content ... I'm about to start working on a website which needs to be in at least two languages, and I'm wondering what is the best way to keep content for that ... The problem is that the content is mixed extensively with common elements (like embedded video files). I need to avoid duplicating those commons ... so far I used to have an array of arrays containing texts (usually no more than 1-2 short paragraphs), then the view file was just rendering the text from an array. Now I'd like to avoid keeping it in arrays (which requires some attention when putting double quotations " " and is inconvenient in general...). So, what is the best way to keep those short paragraphs? Should I keep them in DB like (id | msg_id | language | content ) and then select them by msg_id & language? That still requires me to create some msg_id's and embed them into view file ... Is there any recommended paradigm for which Yii has some solutions? Thanks, m.

• Crystal Reports Programmatic Image Resizing... Scale?

  I'm working with a Crystal Reports object in Visual Studio 2008 (C#). The report is building fine and the data is binding correctly. However, when I try to resize an IBlobFieldObject from within the source, the scale is getting skewed. Two notes about this scenario. Source image is 1024x768, my max width and height are 720x576. My math should be correct that my new image size will be 720x540 (to fit within the max width and height guidelines). The ratio is wrong when I do this though: img = Image.FromFile(path); newWidth = img.Size.Width; newHeight = img.Size.Height; if ((img.Size.Width > 720) || (img.Size.Height > 576)) { double ratio = Convert.ToDouble(img.Size.Width) / Convert.ToDouble(img.Size.Height); if (ratio > 1.25) // Adjust width to 720, height will fall within range { newWidth = 720; newHeight = Convert.ToInt32(Convert.ToDouble(img.Size.Height) * 720.0 / Convert.ToDouble(img.Size.Width)); } else // Adjust height to 576, width will fall within range { newHeight = 576; newWidth = Convert.ToInt32(Convert.ToDouble(img.Size.Width) * 576.0 / Convert.ToDouble(img.Size.Height)); } imgRpt.Section3.ReportObjects["image"].Height = newHeight; imgRpt.Section3.ReportObjects["image"].Width = newWidth; } I've stepped through the code to make sure that the values are correct from the math, and I've even saved the image file out to make sure that the aspect ratio is correct (it was). • Median Filter a bi-level image with JAI

  I'd like to apply a Median Filter to a bi-level image and output a bi-level image. The JAI median filter seems to output an RGB image, which I'm having trouble downconverting back to bi-level. Currently I can't even get the image back into gray color-space, my code looks like this: BufferedImage src; // contains a bi-level image ParameterBlock pb = new ParameterBlock(); pb.addSource(src); pb.add(MedianFilterDescriptor.MEDIAN_MASK_SQUARE); pb.add(3); RenderedOp result = JAI.create("MedianFilter", pb); ParameterBlock pb2 = new ParameterBlock(); pb2.addSource(result); pb2.add(new double[][]{{0.33, 0.34, 0.33, 0}}); RenderedOp grayResult = JAI.create("BandCombine", pb2); BufferedImage foo = grayResult.getAsBufferedImage(); This code hangs on the grayResult line and appears not to return. I assume that I'll eventually need to call the "Binarize" operation in JAI. Edit: Actually, the code appears to be stalling once I call getAsBufferedImage(), but returns nearly instantly when the second operation ("BandCombine") is removed. Is there a better way to keep the Median Filtering in the source color domain? If not, how do I downconvert back to binary?

  I'm trying to make Cakephp paginate take advantage of the SQL_CALC_FOUND_ROWS feature in mysql to return a count of total rows while using LIMIT. Hopefully, this can eliminate the double query of paginateCount(), then paginate(). http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/information-functions.html#function_found-rows I've put this in my app_model.php, and it basically works, but it could be done better. • How can I effectively test a scripting engine?

  I have been working on an ECMAScript implementation and I am currently working on polishing up the project. It almost seems like my effort would be better spent reducing coupling between modules. I call it like this: int value; var ok = "123".TryParse(out value, NumberFormatInfo.CurrentInfo) It works fine until I want to use a group separator: As I live in France, where the thousand separator is a space and the decimal separator is a comma, the string "1 234 567,89" should be equals to 1234567.89 (in Invariant culture). But, the function crashes! When a try to perform a non generic conversion, like double.Parse(...), I can use an overload which accepts a NumberStyles parameter. I specify NumberStyles.Number and this time it works! So, the questions are : Why the parsing does not respect my NumberFormatInfo (where the NumberGroupSeparator is well specified to a space, as I specified in my OS) How could I make work the generic version with Convert.ChangeTime, as it has no overload wich accepts a NumberStyles parameter ?

• Implementing Naïve Bayes algorithm in Java - Need some guidance

  hello stackflow people As a School assignment i'm required to implement Naïve Bayes algorithm which i am intending to do in Java. In trying to understand how its done, i've read the book "Data Mining - Practical Machine Learning Tools and Techniques" which has a section on this topic but am still unsure on some primary points that are blocking my progress. Since i'm seeking guidance not solution in here, i'll tell you guys what i thinking in my head, what i think is the correct approach and in return ask for correction/guidance which will very much be appreciated. please note that i am an absolute beginner on Naïve Bayes algorithm, Data mining and in general programming so you might see stupid comments/calculations below: The training data set i'm given has 4 attributes/features that are numeric and normalized(in range[0 1]) using Weka (no missing values)and one nominal class(yes/no) 1) The data coming from a csv file is numeric HENCE * Given the attributes are numeric i use PDF (probability density function) formula. + To calculate the PDF in java i first separate the attributes based on whether they're in class yes or class no and hold them into different array (array class yes and array class no) + Then calculate the mean(sum of the values in row / number of values in that row) and standard divination for each of the 4 attributes (columns) of each class + Now to find PDF of a given value(n) i do (n-mean)^2/(2*SD^2), + Then to find P( yes | E) and P( no | E) i multiply the PDF value of all 4 given attributes and compare which is larger, which indicates the class it belongs to In temrs of Java, i'm using ArrayList of ArrayList and Double to store the attribute values. lastly i'm unsure how to to get new data? Should i ask for input file (like csv) or command prompt and ask for 4 values? I'll stop here for now (do have more questions) but I'm worried this won't get any responses given how long its got. I will really appreciate for those that give their time reading my problems and comment.

• Common coding style for Python?

  Hi, I'm pretty new to Python, and I want to develop my first serious open source project. I want to ask what is the common coding style for python projects. I'll put also what I'm doing right now. 1.- What is the most widely used column width? (the eternal question) I'm currently sticking to 80 columns (and it's a pain!) 2.- What quotes to use? (I've seen everything and PEP 8 does not mention anything clear) I'm using single quotes for everything but docstrings, which use triple double quotes. 3.- Where do I put my imports? I'm putting them at file header in this order. import sys import -rest of python modules needed- import whatever import -rest of application modules- <code here> 4.- Can I use "import whatever.function as blah"? I saw some documents that disregard doing this. 5.- Tabs or spaces for indenting? Currently using 4 spaces tabs. 6.- Variable naming style? I'm using lowercase for everything but classes, which I put in camelCase. Anything you would recommend?

• Setting WPF RichTextBox width and height according to the size of a monospace font

  I am trying to fit a WPF RichTextBox to exactly accommodate a grid of characters in a particular monospace font. I am currently using FormattedText to determine the width and height of my RichTextBox, but the measurements it is providing me with are too small--specifically two characters in width too small. Is there a better way to perform this task? This does not seem to be an appropriate way to determine the size of my control. • Problem with multiple event handling in JQuery

  Hi everyone, I have a strange jquery problem with multiple event handlers. What I'm trying to achieve is this: User selects some text on the page If the selection is not empty - show a context menu If user clicks somewhere else - the context menu should disappear I'm having troubles with the above i.e. sometimes the context menu appears correctly, sometimes it appears and disappears straight after user makes a selection. Please help. See the relevant parts of my code below.   Data Layer I have an Order class as an entity. This Order entity is my model object. Order can be different types, let it be A B C D Also Order class may have common properties like Name, Time of creation, etc. Also based on the order type there are different fields that are not common. View Layer The view contains the following Main Menu ListView The Main Menu contains the drop down menu button which is used to create the order based on the type selected from the drop down. The drop down contains the Order types ( A ,B , C and D). There are different user control based on the order type. Like for example if user chooses to create an order of type A then different view with different inputs field is popped up. Hence, there are four user control for each order type. If user selects A option from the drop down then Order of type A is created and vica versa. Now below is the List View that contains the List of orders so far created by the user. To Edit any particular order user may double click the list view row. Based on the order type clicked by the user in the listview, the view of that order type opens in edit mode. For example if user selects an order type A from the list view then view for order type A open in edit mode. Please suggest me interaction model for view model's in the scenario discussed above. • C# Random Number Generator getting stuck in a cycle

  Hi, I am using .NET to create an artificial life program and I am using C#'s pseudo random class defined in a Singleton. If I breakpoint at this point and try creating a double and setting it to rnd.NextDouble(), it returns 0.0. Anyone know why this is happening? I know that it is a pseudo random number generator, but frankly, I hadn't expected it to lock at 0. The random number generator is being accessed from multiple threads... could this be the source of the problem?

I wanted to subset a data.frame by vectors gathered in list object. Since this is a part of code from a function that accompanies data manipulation in psychological research, you can consider m as a results from personality questionnaire (10 subjects, 20 vars). Vectors in list hold column indexes that define questionnaire subscales (e.g. personality traits). Each subscale is defined by several items (columns in data.frame). If we presuppose that the score on each subscale is nothing more than sum (or some other function) of row values (results on that part of questionnaire for each subject), you could run: > dfsub(m, lst, sum) a b c 1 46 20 24 2 41 24 21 3 41 13 12 4 37 14 18 5 57 18 25 6 27 18 18 7 28 17 20 8 31 18 23 9 38 14 15 10 41 14 22 I took a glance at this function and I must admit that this little loop isn't spoiling the code at all...   Hi, I am using JBoss4.2.2 and java6. The deployed ear's name is apa.ear In a servlet I have the following code line: placeBid = (PlaceBid) context.lookup("apa/" + PlaceBid.class.getSimpleName() + "/remote"); I have a generated jboss-app.xml like this: <jboss-app> <loader-repository>apa:app=ejb3</loader-repository> </jboss-app> When trying to get the PlaceBid via the context I get this exception java.lang.ClassCastException: $Proxy99 cannot be cast to se.nextit.actionbazaar.buslogic.PlaceBid The PlaceBid interface looks like this: @Remote public interface PlaceBid { Long addBid(String userId, Long itemId, Double bidPrice); } When I run the example coming with EJB3 in action it works. EJB3 in action sample code comes with ant building. I want to use Maven so I have rearranged the code some. However, I don't understan what I am doing wrong here.
