• How to prevent swallowing exceptions caused by unset expectations for a mocked object?

  I am looking for a way to modify catch block depending on if it's executed during the unit test run or not. The purpose is basically to detect/setup mock expectations which are swallowed because catch doesn't rethrow. I am using MSTest. One obvious thing is using preprocessor but I don't think it works. Especially if to use DEBUG define. There should be an easy way to detect that, shouldn't it? • Is there a semantic difference <span>'s and <div>'s?

  I know when coding HTML, I'm supposed to keep semantics in mind, e.g., h1 needs to be a main header, h2 needs to be a subheader, tables need to be tables, use <em> for emphasis instead of <i>, etc. Is there a proper difference between divs and spans except one is a block and the other is in-line? When I was learning I was told that <span>'s were for styling text mid-line. If I had a small blurb of text that I needed positioned at a certain point in my webpage, one that doesn't warrent a <p> tag, would I use a span should I stick with div's? What if that text needs to cover two lines (i.e., it needs a width) if it contains nothing but text, what should I use?

• BASH: Checking for environment variables

  Hi folks, I am trying to check the value of an environment variable and depending on the value do certain things and it works fine as long as the variable is set. When it isn't though I get a whole bunch of errors (as BASH is trying to compare the string I specify with an undefined variable, I guess) I tried implementing an extra check to prevent it happening but no luck.   I have the need for an ASP.NET custom server control that will check the web.config file for a connectionstring name, prompt the user to create said connectionstring if not present, and execute create table stored procedures using the connection. This control will be embedded into a webpart for use in a WSS3.0 solution. Can anyone suggest some good tutorials on creating this type of control - specifically addressing use of connectionstrings?   I have a situation where I need to, based on user selection and some server-side processing, display a message to allow user to choose to continue processing or cancel. I have a RadGrid populated with data from the database. When User adds a new item to the grid,I want to do some processing in the back end and then inform the user of what could result and give him/her the choice to continue and believe that a message box or modal popup/radalert is the best way to do it, but how do I create the message in the back end and then using a popup, display the message and block until user responds.   Under Vista, when in Basic theme, after calling IUIFramework::Destroy() the Vista theme is lost, and enlarging the window does not display outside of the initial area. You can repro it easily with the SimpleRibbon SDK sample. In simpleribbon.cpp, insert in the WndProc switch block: case WM_KEYUP: DestroyFramework(); InvalidateRect(hWnd, NULL, TRUE); break; Compile, run, hit a key and try to enlarge in Vista Basic Theme (no problem in Win7 or Vista aero or Windows classic).   This is my first time using StackOverflow. It will be initialized with information in the params hash if the params hash exists. Otherwise, it will check the sessions hash for the information. Finally, it will initialize with defaults if neither params nor session has the data it needs.   Hi All, I am biulding a client-server application where I have to implement a keepalive mechanism in order to detect that the client has crashed or not. I have separate threads on both client and server side. the client thread sends a "ping" then sleeps for 3 seconds, while the server reads the BufferedInput Stream and checks whether ping is received, if so it makes the ping counter eqauls zero, else it increments the counter by +1, the server thread then sleeps for 3 seconds, if the ping counter reaches 3, it daclares the client as dead. The problem is that when the server reads the input stream, its a blocking call, and it blocks untill the next ping is received, irrespective of how delayed it is, so the server never detects a missed ping. any suggestions, so that I can read the current value of the stream and it doesn't block if there is nothing on the incoming stream.   Hello all, I am invoking several processes in my main and I can get the pid of that processes. Now I want to wait until all this processes have been finished and then clear the shared memory block from my parent process. Also if any of the process not finished and segfaulted I want to kill that process. So how to check from the pid of processes in my parent process code that a process is finished without any error or it gave broke down becoz of runtime error or any other cause, so that I can kill that process. Also what if I want to see the status of some other process which is not a child process but its pid is known. Code is appreciated( I am not looking for script but code ).

  Hi I know that as3 has some powerful new text search capabilities, especially when combined with regex. I don't even know if this is possible, but I would like to somehow, search any block of text, and return all nouns, adjectives and verbs. What would be the best(most efficent) way to do this? Is regex an option? or would I have to load in some sort of open sourced dictionary 9as used in spellcheckers) to compare with or?? After, I've pulled all the nouns, adjectives and verbs, I need to count and prioritize by their frequency. Any suggestions welcome...

  I am using clojure.contrib.sql to fetch some records from an SQLite database. (defn read-all-foo [] (with-connection *db* (with-query-results res ["select * from foo"] (into [] res)))) Now, I don't really want to realize the whole sequence before returning from the function (i.e. I want to keep it lazy), but if I return res directly or wrap it some kind of lazy wrapper (for example I want to make a certain map transformation on result sequence), SQL-related bindings will be reset and connection will be closed after I return, so realizing the sequence will throw an exception. How can I enclose the whole function in a closure and return a kind of anonymous iterator block (like yield in C# or Python)? Or is there another way to return a lazy sequence from this function?

• 505 (HTTP version not supported) sent to client when ASP.NET application attempts to access WCF service

  We have created a DLL to facilitate access of a 3rd-party WCF Service. This DLL works fine in a Windows Application on our test machines, but when we try to use it in an ASP.NET application on our web server, our web server returns a 505 HTTP version not supported error to the client. To clarify, the setup is Client-Server-WCF Service. Using Fiddler, I can tell that our server is not making requests to the WCF Service. The calls are wrapped in a try/catch block, but no Exception occurs. Instead, as soon as the call to the service is attempted, our server returns a 505 error to the client and terminates execution. We are using clientCertificate authentication over HTTPS with serviceCertificate certificateValidationMode set to "None". Thanks

  When I add text to my web page using my text editor it display styles correctly inside the text editor which basically is a iframe. After this data is saved it's displayed on another page where the issue occurs. I wanted the description section on my web page to use its own style without getting overwritten by the page styles. Do i need to use a iframe to display this data? Is there a way I can prevent a block from using the page style. Please advise. Appreciate all your help.

• Basic Python While loop compound conditional evaluation

  In Python IDLE Shell it seems I cannot use a compound conditional expression and a while loop. I tried it within brackets too. k=0 m=0 while k<10 & m<10: print k k +=1 m+=1 If I write while k<10: print k k+=1 This does work. Is there a way I could achieve the first block of code with the "and" operator. I have done it in Java. Do I just need to put together "if" statements to achieve the same functionality in Python?

My question is, What if I declare a property using the @property keyword and also declare a variable in the interface block with the same name? • Produce a script to hit Google once a day and log our position in the results?

  The need has arisen within our organisation to monitor (on a daily basis) where our site appears (both organic and PPC) on the page 1 of Google. Also where a key competitor appears. For certain key words. In the immediate short term a colleague is doing this by hitting Google manually and jotting down the results. Yep. It occurs to us we can write a script (e.g. using C#) to do this. I know Analytics will tell us an awful lot but it doesn't note the competitor's position, plus I don't think it has other data we want. Question is, is there an existing basic tool which does this (for free, I guess)? And if we write it ourselves, where to start and are there obvious pitfalls to avoid (for example can Google detect and block automated requests?)

• Creating a blocked user intercepter in Grails

  I am working on a social site where users can block other users. Throughout the site --dozens of places, user information is displayed. For example, user comments, reply forms, online user list.. etc etc.. The problem is that given the high number of places user info is displayed, it's becoming very difficult to check each time if that user is blocked. For example: <g:each var="comment" in="${comments}"> <g:if test="!${loggedInUser.blockedUsers.find { it == comment.user}"> show comment </g:if> </g:each> Does Grails provide any functionality that would facilitate creating some kind of filter or intercepter where I could simply exclude blocked users when iterating lists, etc? If not, what would you suggest I do?
