• MVC null model problem

  hello, i have created two create actions..one to call the create view and the other to process the create view using httppost. when i call the create view, it gets published correctly , dropdowns and all. the problem is that when i fill out the create form and click on the submit button, i get an error; Object reference not set to an instance of an object. My first thoughts are that i am passing a null model to the httppost create action.. How can i check to see if i am passing in a null model to the httppost create action? thanks

• How to enable HTTP response caching in Spring Boot

  I have implemented a REST server using Spring Boot 1.0.2. I'm having trouble preventing Spring from setting HTTP headers that disable HTTP caching. My controller is as following: @Controller public class MyRestController { @RequestMapping(value = "/someUrl", method = RequestMethod.GET) public @ResponseBody ResponseEntity<String> myMethod( HttpServletResponse httpResponse) throws SQLException { return new ResponseEntity<String>("{}", HttpStatus.OK); } } All HTTP responses contain the following headers: Cache-Control: no-cache, no-store, max-age=0, must-revalidate Expires: 0 Pragma: no-cache I've tried the following to remove or change those headers: Call setCacheSeconds(-1) in the controller. Call httpResponse.setHeader("Cache-Control", "max-age=123") in the controller. Define @Bean that returns WebContentInterceptor for which I've called setCacheSeconds(-1). Set property spring.resources.cache-period to -1 or a positive value in application.properties. None of the above have had any effect. How do I disable or change these headers for all or individual requests in Spring Boot?

• RuntimeBinderException with dynamic in C# 4.0

  I have an interface: public abstract class Authorizer<T> where T : RequiresAuthorization { public AuthorizationStatus Authorize(T record) { // Perform authorization specific stuff // and then hand off to an abstract method to handle T-specific stuff // that should happen when authorization is successful } } Then, I have a bunch of different classes which all implement RequiresAuthorization, and correspondingly, an Authorizer<T> for each of them (each business object in my domain requires different logic to execute once the record has been authorized). I'm also using a UnityContainer, in which I register various Authorizer<T>'s. I then have some code as follows to find the right record out of the database and authorize it: void Authorize(RequiresAuthorization item) { var dbItem = ChildContainer.Resolve<IAuthorizationRepository>() .RetrieveRequiresAuthorizationById(item.Id); var authorizerType = type.GetType(String.Format("Foo.Authorizer`1[[{0}]], Foo", dbItem.GetType().AssemblyQualifiedName)); dynamic authorizer = ChildContainer.Resolve(type) as dynamic; authorizer.Authorize(dbItem); } Basically, I'm using the Id on the object to retrieve it out of the database. In the background NHibernate takes care of figuring out what type of RequiresAuthorization it is. I then want to find the right Authorizer for it (I don't know at compile time what implementation of Authorizer<T> I need, so I've got a little bit of reflection to get the fully qualified type). To accomplish this, I use the non-generic overload of UnityContainer's Resolve method to look up the correct authorizer from configuration. Finally, I want to call Authorize on the authorizer, passing through the object I've gotten back from NHibernate. Now, for the problem: In Beta2 of VS2010 the above code works perfectly. On RC and RTM, as soon as I make the Authorize() call, I get a RuntimeBinderException saying "The best overloaded method match for 'Foo.Authorizer<Bar>.Authorize(Bar)' has some invalid arguments". When I inspect the authorizer in the debugger, it's the correct type. When I call GetType().GetMethods() on it, I can see the Authorize method which takes a Bar. If I do GetType() on dbItem it is a Bar. Because this worked in Beta2 and not in RC, I assumed it was a regression (it seems like it should work) and I delayed sorting it out until after I'd had a chance to test it on the RTM version of C# 4.0. Now I've done that and the problem still persists. Does anybody have any suggestions to make this work? Thanks Terence

• Why are ASP.Net MVC2 area controller actions callable without including the area in the url path?

  I've just installed Visual Studio 2010 and have created a new MVC2 project so that I can learn about the changes and updates and have discovered an issue with areas that I'm not sure what to make of. I created a new EMPTY MVC2 project I right clicked the project and, from the context menu, added a new area called "Test" In the new test area, I added a controller called "Data". The code is: public class DataController : Controller { // // GET: /Test/Data/ public ActionResult Index() { Response.Write("Hi"); return new EmptyResult(); } } Now, I compile and call this address: http://localhost/mytest/test/data and get the output: Hi All good. Now I call this: http://localhost/mytest/data and get the same response! I thought routing was supposed to take care of this? Am I overlooking something? Or has the default project setup for MVC2 overlooked something?

• Cannot use WCF service from windows mobile 5: no endpoint found.

  Hi All, I'm trying to figure out how to call a WCF service from a windows smart phone. I have a very simple smartphone console app, which does nothing but launch and make 1 call to the service. The service simply returns a string. I am able to instantiate the proxy class but when i call the method it throws an exception: There was no endpoint listening at http://mypcname/Service1.svc/basic that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details. The inner exception: Could not establish connection to network. I've tried to follow this tutorial on setting up services with windows mobile. I've used the NetCFSvcUtil to create the proxy classes. I have the service running on IIS on my machine and had the Util consume the wsdl from that location. I've created a basic http binding as suggested in the article and i think i've pointed the proxy at the correct uri. Here some sections of relevant code in case it's helpful to see. If anyone has any suggestions, i'd really appreciate it. I'm not sure what else i can poke at to get this thing to work. Thanks! • How to (pre)start xamlx workflow service

  Related to this question. I have a xamlx workflow service that loads part of its definition from a database when it runs (using ActivityXamlServices.Load). Reason for this is that I need versioning, see the related question. I'll use WCF routing to direct calls to the right service. The part that I load dynamically contains a Receive activity. However, this activity is 'invisible' as long as the workflow doesn't start because the part of the workflow I load from the database is only loaded when the workflow starts. So from the outside it appears as if there is no Receive activity in the workflow. Apart from not being able to generate a contract for the workflow service, I can't call the service either. My first attempt was to do a soap call with the right contract on the workflow service. However, the runtime doesn't automagically activate my workflow in that case. So the question is, how do I start a workflow that is hosted inside IIS? Regards, Ronald

• Trace not working in a .NET DLL loaded from VB6 EXE

  Hello I have a .NET DLL that writes to the Trace. But seems that when I call my DLL from a VB6 EXE the trace is not working. I have created an myApp.config file in the EXE folder with the trace configuration, but this does not solves the issue. I've also tried creating the Trace objects in code,but doesn't work: Dim _traceSrc as TraceSource= New TraceSource("myTraceSorce") Dim flListener As FileLogTraceListener = New FileLogTraceListener("myFileLogTraceListener") Dim tSwitch As SourceSwitch = New SourceSwitch("mySwitch") tSwitch.Level = _logLevel If I call my DLL from a .NET EXE it works, even if I dont have the app.config in the EXE folder, becusase I set it in code if the config is not found. • Adding delegate with calendar access using Exchange Web Services?

Using a sample from MDSN, I've gotten as far as trying to add the delegate, but after the call to the service binding, I get nothing back...no success or fail....nothing. • Problem with the nonresponding threads

  Hello there, I have a web application which runs multiple threads on button click each thread making IO call on different ipAddresses ie(login windows account and then making file operations). There is a treshold value of 30 seconds. I assume that while login attempt if the treshold is exceeded, device on ipAddress does not match my conditions thus I dont care it. Thread.Abort() does not fit my situation where it waits for the IO call to finish which might take long time. I tried doing the db operations acording to states of the threads right after the treshold timeout. It worked fine but when I checked out the log file, I noticed that the thread.IsAlive property of the nonresponding threads were still true. After several debuggings on my local pc, I encountered a possible deadlock situation (which i suspect) that my pc crashed badly. In short, do you have any idea about killing (forcefully) nonresponding threads (waiting for the IO opreation) right after the execution of the button_click?   Hi i want implement a windows services scheduled task. I already created windows service. In a service i have implemented a timer.The timer is initialized at class interval. The timers interval is set in the start method of service and also it is enabled in the start method of the service. After timers elapsed event is fire i have done some actions. My problem is that, i am in a dilemma. Lets say the action i have done in Elapsed event, lets say take one hour and the timers interval is set to half an hour. so there are chances that even if the previous call to elapsed event has not ended new call to elapsed event will occur. my question will there be any conflict or is it ok or shall i use threads. please give some advice

  Hi I am using COMInterop. I have a call in VB6 which returns a string of roughly 13000 chars. If I execute the call in pure VB6 it takes about 800ms to execute. If I execute it via c# and COMInterop it takes about 8 seconds. I'm assuming the delay is caused by marshalling. If I am correct about marshalling, I'd be grateful if someone could suggest the fastest way I can get this into C#. e.g. Would it be better to a) expose it as a byte array b) provide a byref string param into the VB6 layer I would appreciate some sample code as well.   You can use the "Data View" webpart to take data from a database call, then you can edit the XSLT manually to make it look and do whatever you want, within the scope of that data and XSLT capabilities. Is there a web part that allows me to do the same thing, but with data that is received by a connected webpart source rather than a database set? For example: I'd like to be able to pull in a Data View webpart that queries a bunch of data and makes it available all over the page. Then, I would like to hide that Data View. Once it is hidden, I'd like to be able to take another customizable webpart and pull a field (or multiple fields if possible) from the Data View webpart via a webpart connection. This would allow me to display various fields in creative formats without having to call the same query multiple times on the same page by different webparts. Is there an in house webpart that will allow me to do this?

  Hi.. I'm having a problem.. the site is working correctly in safari, chrome and firefox (mac and win) but in Internet explorer I get an error related with mootools: Line: 59 Character: 102. The site URL is: http://my-essencia.com I've noticed that mootools is being loaded two times, maybe another component is calling it again, how can I remove this call?? or how can I locate witch component is making this call?? Another thing is the gmaps doesn't work (only in IE)(it worked before) This map is generated by a component named iproperty, I've asked in the support forums but no responses.   I have a PHP class that helps me generate URLs for custom charts using Google Chart service. These URLs work fine when I load them in my browser, but I'm trying to pull them using CURL so I can access the charts on secure https websites. Whenever I try and pull a chart via CURL, I get an Error 400 Bad Request. Any idea on how to get around this?   How are you supposed to unit test a web service in C# with Visual Studio 2008? When I generate a unit test it adds an actual reference to the web service class instead of a web reference. It sets the attributes specified in: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms243399(VS.80).aspx#TestingWebServiceLocally Yet, it will complete without executing the test.   Hi, this is my first question, so sorry if the form is wrong! I'm trying to make thrift server (python) and client (c++). However I need to exchange messages in both direction. Client should register (call server's function and wait), and server should listen on same port for N (N- 100k) incoming connections (clients). After some conditions are satisfied, server needs to call functions on each client and collect results and interpret them. I'm little confused, and first questions is "can this be done in Thrift"? Second question is related to mechanism that will allow me bidirectional communication. I guess that I will need two services. One with client's functions other with server's. But I'm confused with calling code. I understand one way communication (calling functions from server), but with calling functions from client side I have a problem. Any suggestions??? Thanks!

On the other side, the dynamic languages use dynamic types. So we can call a method unknown at the compile time, but that’s completely impossible with the Java bytecode. What am I missing?

  I'm running into this little problem that I hope is just a dumb user error. It looks like some sort of a size limit with a query to a SQLite database. I managed to reproduce the issue with an in-memory DB and a simple script shown below. I can make it work by either reducing the number of records in the DB; or by reducing the size of each record; or by dropping the order_by() call. I am using Python 2.5.5 and SQLAlchemy 0.6.0 in a Cygwin environment. • Append an object to a list in R?

  If I have some R list mylist, you can append an item obj to it like so: mylist[[length(mylist)+1]] <- obj But surely there is some more compact way. When I was new at R, I tried writing append() like so: append <- function(lst, obj) { lst[[length(list)+1]] <- obj return(lst) } but of course that doesn't work due to R's call-by-name semantics (lst is effectively copied upon call, so changes to lst are not visible outside the scope of append(). I know you can do environment hacking in an R function to reach outside the scope of your function and mutate the calling environment, but that seems like a large hammer to write a simple append function. Can anyone suggest a more beautiful way of doing this? Bonus points if it works for both vectors and lists.

• How can I reliably check client identity whilst making DCOM calls to a C# .Net 3.5 Server?

  Hi, I have an old Win32 C++ DCOM Server that I am rewriting to use C# .Net 3.5. The client applications sit on remote XP machines and are also written in C++. These clients must remain unchanged, hence I must implement the interfaces on new .Net objects. This has been done, and is working successfully regarding the implementation of the interfaces, and all of the calls are correctly being made from the old clients to the new .Net objects. However, I'm having problems obtaining the identity of the calling user from the DCOM Client. In order to try to identify the user who instigated the DCOM call, I have the following code on the server... What I have noticed is that the first few users have their DCOM calls handled on their own thread (ie all calls from a particular client are handled by a single unique thread), and then subsequent users are being handled by the same threads as the earlier users, and after the call to CoImpersonateClient(), the CurrentPrincipal matches that of the initial user of that thread. To Illustrate: User Tom makes DCOM calls which are handled by thread 1 (CurrentPrincipal correctly identifies Tom) User Dick makes DCOM calls which are handled by thread 2 (CurrentPrincipal correctly identifies Dick) User Harry makes DCOM calls which are handled by thread 3 (CurrentPrincipal correctly identifies Harry) User Bob makes DCOM calls which are handled by thread 3 (CurrentPrincipal incorrectly identifies him as Harry) As you can see in this illustration, calls from clients Harry and Bob are being handled on thread 3, and the server is identifying the calling client as Harry. Is there something that I am doing wrong? Are there any caveats or restrictions on using Impersonations in this way? Is there a better or different way that I can RELIABLY achieve what I am trying to do? All help would be greatly appreciated. Regards Andrew
