  • Server 2003 PDC DNS not working..Failover server is...

    In the midst of trying to utilize proc power, i create a fault tolerant DNS server a while ago. Since, Ive been trying to add another controller for exchange. So I thought I would revert back to a single primary DNS for the meantime and now Im balancing on a thread. The server i thought I uninstalled DNS, is still acting as DNS. And now the PDC does not resolve. Can anybody walk me through, Im overwhelmed and cant think straight... Im afraid if anyone restarts their machine they wont have internet. Update Ok so from the beginning. I was configuring Exchange on a new server 2008. How it happened I dont know, but it started to not resolve DNS. (exclamation mark on NIC) even though everything was static. So ultimately I decided to remove the server from the problem, because I noticed DNS was in disarray if I used the DNS IP of the first server. This is when I tested with nslookup on each DNS server. I had uninstalled DNS from the second server, but nslookup was still resolving with that IPaddress, which has me all wound up cause I dont understand. So, since the first DNS server isn't resolving, Im assuming if the second one isnt configured right I'll loose internet. Im just confused and dont know where to start troubleshooting...

  • Anyone know how to get dual screens working on a Dell E6410 laptop with Ubuntu 10.04 64 bit?

    I've installed the drivers from nVidia. When I go into the NVIDIA X Server Settings application, in the X Server Display Configuration setcion, and click the "Configure" button, "TwinView" is disabled. Also, clicking "Detect Displays" doesn't pick up my monitor (which is connected through a port replicator - keyboard and mouse in that port replicator work fine). Has anyone else seen this? Is this just a limitation of the current nvidia linux drivers?

  • Shoes and Gems and how to get them working.

    I have seen this question asked all over the internet and answered in many different ways. None of them seem to be working for me. I am trying to get Gems to work in Shoes (specifically the gem Mechanize). Whenever I use the code: Shoes.setup do gem 'mechanize' end require 'mechanize' It gives me the popup that says it is installing native extensions and sits at that screen for 30 minutes and longer (I've only ever waited as long as 30 minutes). I have seen people say that you should be putting the .gem files in ~/.shoes/+gem/gem (on OS X) but that hasn't worked for me. Neither has putting the source code for the gem there. On another odd note, both the gems RedCloth and Nokogiri come with Shoes...but using the above code for them gets me No such file to load errors for both of them. Anyone have any expertise in this area and can help me out?

  • Network drives don't get mapped and desktop redirection stops working when domain user becomes a member of the Local Administrator group on their PC

    We have a Small Business Server 2003 domain controller with Windows 7 workstations joined to the domain. I noticed recently that, if I make a user a local administrator on his computer, his redirected desktop and mapped network drives do not connect at login (error on login that network drives inaccessible and desktop is blank). However, it is still possible for this user to browse to his home directory where his redirected folders are located- so he still has access to that location. Does anyone have any theories as to what is going on here?

    I'm trying to configure xorg.conf to correctly set the resolution of my screens. I'm using a matrox triplehead, so the monitor is a single 5040x1050 screen. Unfortunately, it's being incorrectly set to 3840x1024.   • AMD Phenom II X2 555 BE, core unlock suddenly not working?

    I've had a Phenom II X2 555 BE for around 2 - 3 years. When I got it, I immediately core unlocked it with my ECS A880GM-A3 mobo, which makes it turn into a Phenom II X4 B55. A few days ago, I installed Windows 7 64 bit to compensate for my 4 gigs of ram. When I start my system with its cores unlocked, it will restart after the BIOS screen. If I disable the core unlock, it boots to OS just fine. My question is: Does 64 bit OS makes a difference in core unlocking? Does my 3rd and 4th core burnt out? Also extra info: I tried core unlocking but keeping the 3rd and 4th core disabled and it still won't boot into OS. Could it be motherboard problems? Sorry for bad English. I will try to give additional information if needed. Thanks! Also it is worth mentioning I'm no computer expert but I tried to make my explanation as short as possible. I also asked my question on TomsHardware, but I had no answer till now so I decided to ask here too. anyone...?

    I have a validation attribute set up where I need to hit the database to accomplish the validation. I tried setting up property injection the same way I do elsewhere in the project but it's not working.     I have two domains (siteA.com & SiteB.com) that point to the same webserver and I would like to show different web pages for each. The steps I have taken so far are: Copy the default site (siteA) to siteB 1) sudo cp /etc/apache2/sites-available/default /etc/apache2/sites-available/siteB 2) sudo vim /etc/apache2/sites-available/siteB <VirtualHost *:80> ServerAdmin [email protected] DocumentRoot /var/www/siteB <Directory /> Options FollowSymLinks AllowOverride None </Directory> <Directory /var/www/siteB> Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews AllowOverride FileInfo Indexes Order allow,deny allow from all </Directory> </VirtualHost *:80> Then I created under /var/www/siteB and created a sample index.html in there. However when I load my domain siteB.com I still get directed to /var/www/siteA. Why is that? Do I have to rename the /etc/apache2/sites-available/default to /etc/apache2/sites-available/siteA as well? UPDATE: Thanks to the answer below it seems I had forgotten next to enabling the site also another entry: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerAdmin [email protected] ServerName siteB.com ServerAlias www.siteB.com </VirtualHost *:80> in order to include all subdomains as well then do: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerAdmin [email protected] ServerName siteB.com ServerAlias *.siteB.com </VirtualHost *:80> Same goes for siteA.

    Ok so this might be a dumb question, but I can't seem to figure it out. I thought I'd try out LINQ against a DataTable. I got my query working and now I'm trying to implement some simple paging. Error 1 'System.Data.OrderedEnumerableRowCollection' does not contain a definition for 'Skip' and no extension method 'Skip' accepting a first argument of type 'System.Data.OrderedEnumerableRowCollection' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) References I have: Microsoft.SharePoint System System.Core System.Data System.Data.DataSetExtensions System.Web System.Xml What am I missing?

    Hi, I am running a query using a scope and some conditions. Something like this: conditions[:offset] = (options[:page].to_i - 1) * PAGE_SIZE unless options[:page].blank? conditions[:limit] = options[:limit] ||= PAGE_SIZE scope = Promo.enabled.active results = scope.all conditions I'd like to add a computed column to the query (at the point when I'm now calling scope.all). Something like this: (ACOS(least(1,COS(0.71106459055501)*COS(-1.2915436464758)*COS(RADIANS(addresses.lat))*COS(RADIANS(addresses.lng))+ COS(0.71106459055501)*SIN(-1.2915436464758)*COS(RADIANS(addresses.lat))*SIN(RADIANS(addresses.lng))+ SIN(0.71106459055501)*SIN(RADIANS(addresses.lat))))*3963.19) as accurate_distance Is there a way to do that without just using find_by_sql and rewriting the whole existing query?   • What may be the reason of "hide inactive icons" option of WinXP systray to stop working?

    Yesterday I've set up Defraggler (I've used it before many times) to defragment my hard drives and turn off my laptop when it finishes. I haven§t installed/uninstalled/reconfigured anything that day. When I've then turned the laptop on, I've got taskbar's "quick launch" area disappeared and all and every system tray (notification area) icons displayed (and the arrow-in-a-bubble usually folding to hide most of them gone). I've then successfully turned on "show quick launch" option, but "hide inactive icons" was already on. I've turned it off, applied, closed "taskbar and start menu properties", then opened again to turn the option back on, applied, restarted, nothing changes. Now I have to have all the system tray icons always displayed. Any ideas what may the reason be and how to fix? The OS is Windows XP Pro SP3 with all the updates.

  • CoreDumpDirectory isn't working on ubuntu; getting segmentation fault with php

    I'm trying to solve a segmentation fault. This message appears in my apache-error.log: [notice] child pid 3979 exit signal Segmentation fault (11) I've tried disabling some apache and php modules but I'm still getting the same error. I've also tried putting this in apache2.conf: CoreDumpDirectory /tmp/apache2-gdb-dump and then chmod 777, chown www-data... so that the server can write. I can see no core-dump files to give me a hint on the error. Does anybody have an idea why CoreDumpDirectory isn't working on Ubuntu?

  • How can I get ssh-agent working over ssh and in tmux (on OS X)?

    I have a private key set up for my github account, the passphrase to which is, I believe, stored in OS X's keychain. I certainly don't have to type it in when I open a terminal window and enter ssh [email protected]. However, when I'm running bash over an ssh session, or locally inside a tmux session, I have to type in the passphrase every single time I attempt to ssh to github. This question suggests that a similar problem exists with screen, but I don't really understand the issue well enough to fix it in tmux. There's also this page which includes a fairly complicated solution, but for zsh. EDIT: In response to @Mikel's answer, from a local terminal I get the following output: [~] $ echo $SSH_AUTH_SOCK /tmp/launch-S4HBD6/Listeners [~] $ ssh-add -l 2048 [my key fingerprint] /Users/richie/.ssh/id_rsa (RSA) [~] $ typeset -p SSH_AUTH_SOCK declare -x SSH_AUTH_SOCK="/tmp/launch-S4HBD6/Listeners" Whereas over ssh or in tmux I get: [~] $ echo $SSH_AUTH_SOCK [~] $ ssh-add -l Could not open a connection to your authentication agent. SO the query looks like this: UPDATE table SET this = ?, another = ? WHERE title = ? AND time = ? as you can see I dont use bindParams instead I pass the right values in the right order ($array) directly into the execute($array) method.   • VPN is working, except for DNS lookups. Firewall (Cisco ASA 5505) issue?

    I've got the following set up: LAN -> DHCP / DNS / VPN server (OSX 10.6) -> Cisco ASA 5505 -> WAN Connecting to the LAN via VPN works fine. I get all the details properly and I can ping any host on the internal network using their IP. However, I can't do any host lookups whatsoever. I've looked through the logs on and found this nugget in the firewall log: 3 Sep 08 2010 10:46:40 305006 10.0.0.197 65371 portmap translation creation failed for udp src inside:myhostname.local/53 dst inside:10.0.0.197/65371 Port 53 is dns services, no? Because of that log entry, I'm thinking that the issue is with the firewall, not the server. Any ideas? Please keep in mind that I have very little knowledge and experience with this kind of firewall and the little experience I do have is with the ASDM GUI console, not the CLI console.

  • Is there a way to have a working search bar in Explorer with Windows Search Service disabled?

    I had to disable Windows Search Service (turn it off in Windows Features) for the reason that it was constantly using the hard drive in an excessive way (maybe because I've got very large quantities of files on my PC), noticeably slowing down my computer, and the Windows.edb database file grew way too large, about 2.5 GB in size. But the side-effect of it is that now the search bar is gone from any Explorer window and I miss this useful feature. So my question is, is there a way to stop Windows Search Service torturing my hard drive and still being able to search for files and folders directly from Explorer, perhaps using some third-party software?

    Hello, I have a somewhat strange case. Whenever one of my coworkers executes this line: show slave status; from their MySQL clients, it works smoothly. But if I do that, it says: ERROR 1227 (42000): Access denied; you need the SUPER,REPLICATION CLIENT privilege for this operation We are all going against the same database, and if I check privileges I can see: GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON . TO 'usermysql'@'%' IDENTIFIED BY PASSWORD 'password' There's something wrong with my computer.. but I can't pinpoint where it is.. Thanks EDIT: It's kinda bizarre.. it goes through a VPN remotely. But if I change the internet connection, then it works.. If the previous internet connection is restored, it doesn't.. Could we classify this among the great mysteries of the world? Or someone has an idea?

  • SATA controller installed but not working? (No drives show up/Don't see card's BIOS)

    Hi, I have an old Promise FastTrak S150 TX4 SATA controller card. I put it in an old machine running Windows Server 2003. I booted the machine. The new hardware was detected. I installed the drivers. So now in Device Manager under "SCSI and RAID Controllers" I see "Win Server 2003 Promise FastTrak S150 TX4 Controller" and "Win Server 2003 Promise RAID Console SCSI Processor Device" I previously had the card in a machine that is now dead. When I booted that machine, during the boot process I would see the card info displayed and the drives that were attached. Boot would finish and my drives would be available. When I boot this new machine I never see that screen/text. No hard drives are available/visible. What am I missing? Thanks.

    I have a big problem opening http://localhost/ on Windows 7 (beta). I installed this os and everything went great; when I installed Wamp I saw that localhost is not working at all. I just see this error: Failed to Connect Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost. in Mozilla and Explorer. I removed Wamp and after some weeks (that means two weeks from today) I installed NetBeans on Windows 7. I created a test PHP script and when I debug it, I get the same error again. I tried to access it with ip 127.... but still the same. What is the problem? When i installed NetBeans I installed it in port 8080.
