  • Powershell 2.0 Hang When Run From MsDeploy pre- post- ops using c/

    I am trying to invoke powershell during the preSync call in a MSDeploy command, but powershell does not exit the process after it has been called. The command (from command line): "tools/MSDeploy/msdeploy.exe" -verb:sync -preSync:runCommand="powershell.exe -NoLogo -NoProfile -NonInteractive -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command C:/MyInstallPath/deploy.ps1 Set-WebAppOffline Uninstall-Service ",waitInterval=60000 -usechecksum -source:dirPath="build/for-deployment" -dest:wmsvc=BLUEPRINT-X86,username=deployer,password=deployer,dirPath=C:/MyInstallPath I used a hack here (http://therightstuff.de/2010/02/06/How-We-Practice-Continuous-Integration-And-Deployment-With-MSDeploy.aspx) that gets the powershell process and kills it but that didn't work. I also tried taskkill and the sysinternals equivalent, but nothing will kill the process so that MSDeploy errors out. The command is executed, but then just sits there. Any ideas what might be causing powershell to hang like this? I have found a few other similar issues around the web but no answers. Environment is Win 2K3, using Powershell 2.0.     What is the best/easiest way to build a minimal task queue system for Linux using bash and common tools? I have a file with 9'000 lines, each line has a bash command line, the commands are completely independent. command 1 > Logs/1.log command 2 > Logs/2.log command 3 > Logs/3.log ... My box has more than one core and I want to execute X tasks at the same time. I searched the web for a good way to do this. Apparently, a lot of people have this problem but nobody has a good solution so far. It would be nice if the solution had the following features: can interpret more than one command (e.g. command; command) can interpret stream redirects on the lines (e.g. ls > /tmp/ls.txt) only uses common Linux tools Bonus points if it works on other Unix-clones without too exotic requirements.

    I do not know windows well, so that may explain my dilemma ... I am trying to run bcdedit in Windows 2008R2 from Python 2.6. But when I run it from Python (as Administrator), Python claims it can't find the command, returning: bcdedit is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file Also, if I trying running my batch file from Python (which works from the command line), it also fails. I've also tried it with the full path to bcdedit, with the same results. What is it about calling bcdedit from Python that makes it not found? Note that I can call other EXE files from Python, so I have some level of confidence that my Python code is sane ... but who knows. Any help would be most appreciated.

  • Perl TCP Server handling multiple Client connections

    I'll preface this by saying I have minimal experience with both Perl and Socket programming, so I appreciate any help I can get. I have a TCP Server which needs to handle multiple Client connections simultaneously and be able to receive data from any one of the Clients at any time and also be able to send data back to the Clients based on information it's received. For example, Client1 and Client2 connect to my Server. Client2 sends "Ready", the server interprets that and sends "Go" to Client1.     I like using clang with vim. The one problem that I always have is that whenever I include boost, clang goes through boost library every time I put "." after a an object name. It takes 5-10 seconds. Since I don't make changes to boost headers, is there a way to cache the search through boost? If not, is there a way to remove boost from the auto-completion search? update (1) in response to answer by adaszko after :let g:clang_use_library = 1 I type a name of a variable. I press ^N.     I have been trying to resolve my issue of spiking cpu caused by php-fpm processes. I've reduced the php-fpm config settings to: pm = ondemand pm.max_children = 12 pm.start_servers = 2 pm.min_spare_servers = 2 pm.max_spare_servers = 10 pm.max_requests = 500 php_admin_value[memory_limit] = 128M Problem still exists. I'm running a Joomla main site (which is having no problems) and a Magento store in a sub-directory. My server is a Linux CentOS, running NGINX, APC, Memcached, Full Page Cache and php-fpm. My server has 8 cores and 16gb dedicated ram. My host has shut down my server several times the past week because my php-fpm processes are consuming the entire network. A lot of the individual php-fpm processes are getting over 50% cpu. I've hired several "professionals" and none of them was able to help me, so now broke and stumped, I'm turning to you guys for help. So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. the server is not using much memory: Mem: 16777216k total, 1204040k used, 15573176k free My.conf settings: query_cache_size = 128M innodb_buffer_pool_size = 512M open-files-limit = 8192 table_cache=4096 I just noticed that someone changed my innodb_buffer_pool_size to 512M. Shouldn't this be set to 80% of available ram? So I have 16gb ram so it should be set at 12G; however, I set it at 10G. What do you think? I made that change and restart everything. Php-fpm is still spiking cpu. Here is just 1 php-fpm process: 23942 user 17 0 507m 99m 27m R 90.9%CPU 0.6 0:03.46 php-fpm I'm sure there may be more information you will need to help, so just let me know what you guys need to help me figure this out.     i have a squid proxy server for both, http and ftp connections, i'm trying to use filezilla to open a ftp, but it always fail with an error saying: Status: Connection with proxy established, performing handshake...   • How to reset Bash on Mac OSX, .bash_profile corrupted and bash no longer works

    I am on a MacBook Pro, running the latest version of Mountain Lion. I really need some help, I have managed some how to damage my .bash_profile (I think) so that every time I open up the terminal I get the error listed below. -bash: export: `/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/go/bin': not a valid identifier -bash: export: `/Users/rob/Applications/sbt/bin:': not a valid identifier env: bash: No such file or directory env: bash: No such file or directory env: bash: No such file or directory env: bash: No such file or directory env: bash: No such file or directory -bash: tar: command not found -bash: grep: command not found -bash: cat: command not found -bash: find: command not found I am not sure what has happened, I have no sudo, cd or any normal commands. The only way I have been able to get to any of the main directories is through the go to folder command in finder and try to find the file to no avail. To top it all off I think I created a file that might be causing the issue, I wanted to edit the .bash_profile so I typed sudo nano ./bash_profile This open a new file in nano which I think was then saved. After this I opened the real .bash_profile to add in the path for node.js. If I can get to the .bash_profile I think I can get it back on track but I can't find it, should I reinstall bash? If so how would I do that on a mac, I tried using brew install bash to which I get -bash: brew: command not found I am really stuck if anyone can help I would be really appreciated. Many thanks

I would prefer to avoid mysqldump Update: Richard Bronosky showed me the way :-) The query I needed to execute in every table: alter table DBname.DBfield CONVERT TO CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_general_ci; Crazy query to generate all other queries: SELECT distinct CONCAT( 'alter table ', TABLE_SCHEMA, '.', TABLE_NAME, ' CONVERT TO CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_general_ci;' ) FROM information_schema.COLUMNS WHERE TABLE_SCHEMA = 'DBname'; I only wanted to execute it in one database. It was taking too long to execute all in one pass. It turned out that it was generating one query per field per table. And only one query per table was necessary (distinct to the rescue). Getting the output on a file was how I realized it.   • Cygwin Python and Windows Ruby

    I have a peculiar setup as follows: I have cygwin installed on a Windows 7 machine. I need execute a python script setup in cygwin from the windows CLI. This works fine : c:\cygwin\bin\python2.6.exe c:\cygwin\bin\python-script This python-script accesses a file: ~/.some_config_file which translates to /home/user-name when i execute it from Windows as above. So this works as expected. Now, the next step is to execute this python script from ruby(which is setup on Windows natively w/o Cygwin). When i execute the script from ruby, the ~/.some_config_file translates to /cygdrive/c/Users/user-name instead of the expected /home/user-name leading to the script failing. I understand that something in the environment, PATH etc needs to be set correctly although i cannot seem to find what exactly.

This is what I am doing: wget http://modwsgi.googlecode.com/files/mod_wsgi-2.5.tar.gz tar xzvf mod_wsgi-2.5.tar.gz cd mod_wsgi-2.5 ./configure --with-python=/opt/python2.5/bin/python After I run the above command, I get this error: checking for apxs2... no checking for apxs... no checking Apache version... ./configure: line 1298: apxs: command not found ./configure: line 1298: apxs: command not found ./configure: line 1299: /: is a directory ./configure: line 1461: apxs: command not found configure: creating ./config.status config.status: creating Makefile config.status: error: cannot find input file: Makefile.in Through some research I've discovered that I need to modify my command: ./configure --with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs \ --with-python=/usr/local/bin/python But, /usr/local/apache/ doesn't exist, or so that's what it is telling me. If it doesn't exist, how do I create it with all the files needed, or if apache is located elsewhere on my VPS where would it be located? I'd also like to mention that I ran a command to install apache before this entire deal: yum install httpd so I assumed that was all I needed but apparently not (I am very new at all this server administration stuff so please be gentle) EDIT: This is the tutorial that I have been using to get this all set up: http://binarysushi.com/blog/2009/aug/19/CentOS-5-3-python-2-5-virtualevn-mod-wsgi-and-mod-rpaf/ I got stuck at the heading "Installing mod_wsgi" Thanks for any help!

    (Parallels Desktop 9, latest version) As per instructions, I switch to root: $ su - root $ whoami root $ echo $EUID 0 and then execute the installer: $ cd /media/cdrom0 $ ./install and I get this error: sudo: unable to execute ./install: Permission denied What? I'm root! What's with this? I double check to make sure the execute bit is set: $ ls -lA | grep install$ -r-xr-xr-x 1 root root 17284 Oct 25 09:22 install Yep. People online are saying that you need to drag the install script to the terminal after typing sudo. So I do that, and this command is what's formed: $ sudo '/media/cdrom0/install' sudo: unable to execute /media/cdrom0/install: Permission denied What's the solution here?

  • Why is my mono/XSP site loading slow?

    I have two sites on the same server. One is loading perfectly and incredibly fast. The other is an equally complex site except a bit less javascript and 0 images. Its taking several seconds to load and there is a 1 in 3 chance that i get a Http500 error.   • Server 2008 Task Scheduler and a CMD file

    Task Scheduler - I have a .cmd file I'm trying to execute on a regular basis through Task Scheduler. I've set the task so that it points to the cmd file. I want the task to execute even when no one is logged in. I've set the credentials associated with the task to the local service account. When I execute the task, nothing happens. The Last Run Result shows 0x1, this means it didn't execute properly. When I run the file from a command prompt it executes just fine. Any help out there would be appreciated. I would post the code but it has sensitive information in it and I'm not allowed to let the code outside. Thanks

  • Give Access to a Subdirectory Without Giving Access to Parent Directories

    I have a scenario involving a Windows file server where the "owner" wants to dole out permissions to a group of users of the following sort: \\server\dir1\dir2\dir3: Read & Execute and Write \\server\dir1\dir2: No permissions. \\server\dir1: No permissions. \\server: Read & Execute To my understanding, it is not possible to do this because Read & Execute permission must be granted to all the parent directories in a directory chain in order for the operating system to be able to "see" the child directories and get to them. Without this permission, you can't even obtain the security context token when trying to access the nested directory, even if you have full access to the subdirectory. We are looking for ways to get around this, without moving the data from \\server\dir1\dir2\dir3 to \\server\dir4. One workaround I thought of, but which I am not sure if it will work, is creating some sort of link or junction \\server\dir4 which is a reference to \\server\dir1\dir2\dir3. I am not sure which of the available options (if any) would work for this purpose if the user does not have Read & Execute permission on \\server\dir1\dir2 or \\server\dir1, but as far as I know, the options are these: NTFS Symbolic Link, Junction, Hard Link. So the questions: Are any of these methods suitable to accomplish my goal? Are there any other methods of linking or indirectly referencing a directory, which I haven't listed above, which might be suitable? Are there any direct solutions that don't involve granting Read & Execute to \\server\dir1 or \\server\dir2 but still allowing access to \\server\dir1\dir2\dir3?

    In the root of my drive there exists a folder called SourceControl that contains all the working copies of all my programming projects. I would like to move the folder to my user directory (\Users\Me), but something about the permissions on the folder forbids me. I don't remember how I created the folder. When I execute the move command: MOVE \SourceControl \Users\Me I receive the following error: Access is denied. I have resolved a similar problem in the past using the Takeown utility to assign ownership of the file to me, so I tried this command next: TAKEOWN /F \SourceControl It returns the following error: ERROR: The current logged on user does not have ownership privileges on the file (or folder) "C:\SourceControl". I've just learned about the Icacls utility, which can inspect and modify file permissions. I used this command to inspect the permissions on the folder: ICACLS \SourceControl It produced this list: \SourceControl BUILTIN\Administrators:(I)(F) BUILTIN\Administrators:(I)(OI)(CI)(IO)(F) NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:(I)(F) NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:(I)(OI)(CI)(IO)(F) BUILTIN\Users:(I)(OI)(CI)(RX) NT AUTHORITY\Authenticated Users:(I)(M) NT AUTHORITY\Authenticated Users:(I)(OI)(CI)(IO)(M) I think this means that normal user accounts, like mine, have permission only to read and execute (RX) here, while administrator accounts have full control (F). I used Icacls to confer full control of the directory to my user account with this command: ICACLS \SourceControl /grant:r Me:F The command produces this output: processed file: \SourceControl Successfully processed 1 files; Failed processing 0 files Now inspection of the permissions produces this output: \SourceControl Domain\Me:(F) BUILTIN\Administrators:(I)(F) BUILTIN\Administrators:(I)(OI)(CI)(IO)(F) NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:(I)(F) NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:(I)(OI)(CI)(IO)(F) BUILTIN\Users:(I)(OI)(CI)(RX) NT AUTHORITY\Authenticated Users:(I)(M) NT AUTHORITY\Authenticated Users:(I)(OI)(CI)(IO)(M) But after this the move command still fails with the same error. Is it possible to move this folder without invoking administrator rights? If not, how should I do it as administrator?

I'm trying to execute the command from a machine running Windows XP Professional. Has anybody seen an issue like this?
