  Hello All , I am giving a text view to tweet some string . I am applying the following method to restrict the number of characters to 140 in length. - (BOOL)textView:(UITextView *)textView shouldChangeTextInRange:(NSRange)range replacementText:(NSString *)text{ if([text isEqualToString:@"\b"]){ DLog(@"Ohoooo"); return YES; }else if([[textView text] length] > 140){ return NO; } return YES; } The code is working nicely except the first condition that backspace is not working. suppose that I have reached the limit of 140 characters so that the method will give me false and the user can not insert more characters but after that when I try to delete some characters the text view behave as it is disabled . So the question how do delete characters from textview.text or re-enable the text view .

• SQL DATEDIFF Not working!?

  Hi all, I am running a simple DATEDIFF query but it doesn't seem to calculate the days properly or i'm doing something wrong. If I run PRINT DATEDIFF(Day, 2010-01-20, 2010-01-01) RETURN 19 Which is correct. If i change the month in the first date to Feb (02) I get something strange. PRINT DATEDIFF(Day, 2010-02-20, 2010-01-01) RETURN 20 Now shouldn't it be 48 or something? Can anyone see what i'm doing wrong or is this not the correct function to be using if I want the No of days between these dates? I've tried taking one date from the other: PRINT (2010-02-20) - (2010-01-01) RETURN -20 Any help much appreciated. Thanks J.

  Having a ModelFormSet built with modelformset_factory and using a model with an optional ForeignKey, how can I make empty (null) associations to validate on that form? • C# WPF application is using too much memory while GC.GetTotalMemory() is low

  I wrote little WPF application with 2 threads - main thread is GUI thread and another thread is worker. App has one WPF form with some controls. There is a button, allowing to select directory. After selecting directory, application scans for .jpg files in that directory and checks if their thumbnails are in hashtable. if they are, it does nothing. else it's adding their full filenames to queue for worker. Worker is taking filenames from this queue, loading JPEG images (using WPF's JpegBitmapDecoder and BitmapFrame), making thumbnails of them (using WPF's TransformedBitmap) and adding them to hashtable. Everything works fine, except memory consumption by this application when making thumbnails for big images (like 5000x5000 pixels). I've added textboxes on my form to show memory consumption (GC.GetTotalMemory() and Process.GetCurrentProcess().PrivateMemorySize64) and was very surprised, cuz GC.GetTotalMemory() stays close to 1-2 Mbytes, while private memory size constantly grows, especially when loading new image (~ +100Mb per image). Even after loading all images, making thumbnails of them and freeing original images, private memory size stays at ~700-800Mbytes. My VirtualBox is limited to 512Mb of physical memory and Windows in VirtualBox starts to swap alot to handle this huge memory consumption. I guess I'm doing something wrong, but I don't know how to investigate this problem, cuz according to GC, allocated memory size is very low. I am using icinga-web to monitor my hosts. For the moment, I have just my localhost, and all is perfect. • Strange problem with MySQL full text query

  This probably has something to do with my understanding of full text search or perhaps a known issue. My Java code creates search term for full text search on MySQL like this - +word* This works fine if the value in the DB column contains more text than the word itself. However, if the value is exact - no result are returned. I expected it to return results when value is an exact match. Let me give an example - Assume that DB has column name with value "Manish", now if I search with this - +Manis* It does return the result correctly, but if I try this - +Manish* It doesn't return any result, though exact match exists in DB column - Name. How can I obtain the desired behaviour in both these cases? Removing + sign works, but it returns far too many results when there are two or more words. Any help, pointers would be highly appreciated! I am using MySQL 5.0 TIA, - Manish

I know using constant values used in the following manner is generally bad, however could one use this to determine a basic cutoff for application functionality and have it work between API levels?   Currently, I have an HQL query that returns all Members who possess ANY Award from a set of specified Awards: from Member m left join m.awards as a where a.name in ("Trophy","Ribbon"); What I now need is HQL that will return all Members who possess ALL Awards specified in the set of Awards. So, assuming this data: Joe has Trophy, Medal Sue has Trophy, Ribbon Tom has Trophy, Ribbon, Medal The query above would return Joe, Sue, and Tom because all three possess at least one of Trophy or Ribbon. But I need to return only Sue and Tom, because they are the only ones who possess all of the specified awards (Trophy and Ribbon).   I was just playing around with some code in LINQPad and managed to crash the program with a stackoverflow exception. I basically created a static property in a class and used another property to return the value from an instance. The getter of my instance property would return the value of the static property, but the setter would set itself. When would this type of pattern be used and how come it generated a stackoverflow exception? • Spring MVC Web PetClinic Tutorial?

  Is there a tutorial that goes along with the PetClinic application? I have been trying to find one, but google is not helping me today. Specifically, I dont understand things like: @Autowired - what does that even mean? @RequestMapping(method = RequestMethod.GET) public String setupForm(@RequestParam("petId") int petId, ModelMap model) { Pet pet = this.clinic.loadPet(petId); model.addAttribute("pet", pet); return "petForm"; } How can a request return just a string? Shouldnt it need to return some sort of ModelAndView? Or does the application somehow redirect to whatever is returned? A lot of confusing concepts - if there is a tutorial, or video (like spring-security has) that would be very helpful. Thanks.

  I have a class that has an output() method which returns a matplotlib Figure instance. I have a decorator I wrote that takes that fig instance and turns it into a Django response object. My decorator looks like this: class plot_svg(object): def __init__(self, view): self.view = view def __call__(self, *args, **kwargs): print args, kwargs fig = self.view(*args, **kwargs) canvas=FigureCanvas(fig) response=HttpResponse(content_type='image/svg+xml') canvas.print_svg(response) return response and this is how it was being used: def as_avg(self): return plot_svg(self.output)() The only reason I has it that way instead of using the "@" syntax is because when I do it with the "@": @plot_svg def as_svg(self): return self.output() I get this error: as_svg() takes exactly 1 argument (0 given) I'm trying to 'fix' this by putting it in the "@" syntax but I can't figure out how to get it working. I'm thinking it has something to do with self not getting passed where it's supposed to...

• Big smart ViewModels, dumb Views, and any model, the best MVVM approach?

  The following code is a refactoring of my previous MVVM approach (Fat Models, skinny ViewModels and dumb Views, the best MVVM approach?) in which I moved the logic and INotifyPropertyChanged implementation from the model back up into the ViewModel. This makes more sense, since as was pointed out, you often you have to use models that you either can't change or don't want to change and so your MVVM approach should be able to work with any model class as it happens to exist. This example still allows you to view the live data from your model in design mode in Visual Studio and Expression Blend which I think is significant since you could have a mock data store that the designer connects to which has e.g. the smallest and largest strings that the UI can possibly encounter so that he can adjust the design based on those extremes. Questions: I'm a bit surprised that I even have to "put a timer" in my ViewModel since it seems like that is a function of INotifyPropertyChanged, it seems redundant, but it was the only way I could get the XAML UI to constantly (once per second) reflect the state of my model. So it would be interesting to hear anyone who may have taken this approach if you encountered any disadvantages down the road, e.g. with threading or performance. The following code will work if you just copy the XAML and code behind into a new WPF project. • Problem's running unittest test suite OO

  Hello, I have a test suite to perform smoke tests. I have all my script stored in various classes but when I try and run the test suite I can't seem to get it working if it is in a class. • Unicode issue in Django

  I seem to have a unicode problem with the deal_instance_name in the Deal model. It says: coercing to Unicode: need string or buffer, __proxy__ found The exception happens on this line: return smart_unicode(self.deal_type.deal_name) + _(u' - Set No.') + str(self.set) The line works if I remove smart_unicode(self.deal_type.deal_name) but why? Back then in Django 1.1 someone had the same problem on Stackoverflow I have tried both the unicode() as well as the new smart_unicode() without any joy.
