  • are fixtures loaded when using the sql dump to create a test database

    Because of some non standard table creation options I am forced to use the sql dump instead of the standard schema.rb (i.e. I have uncommented this line in the environment.rb config.active_record.schema_format = :sql). I have noticed that when I use the sql dump that my fixtures do not seem to be loaded into the database. Some data is loaded into it but, I am not sure where it is coming from. Is this normal? and if it is normal can anybody tell me where this other data is coming from?

  • Microsoft InTune in a SBS2008 Environment

    I'm looking into using InTune and Office 365, mainly for the licensing benefits it brings but also because our company is moving to having more users based around the globe and I feel it will make managing the computers easier. Currently we have a SBS2008 (Premium) server running Exchange and File and Print which I need to keep for File and Print (Exchange can move to Office 365). I cant find any information on how the AD is synchronized between InTune and the SBS server (as users will still needs access control to file shares on the SBS server). Does anyone have any experience in doing this or even know if its possible? Richard

  • how do i implement / build / create an 'in memory database' for my unit test

    Hi all, i've started unit testing a while ago and as turned out i did more regression testing than unit testing because i also included my database layer thus going to the database verytime. So, implemented Unity to inject a fake database layer, but i of course want to store some data, and the main opinion was: "create an in-memory database" But what is that / how do i implement that? Main question is: i think i have to fake the database layer, but doesn't that make me create a 'simple database' myself or: how can i keep it simple and not rebuilding Sql Server just for my unit tests :) At the end of this question i'll give an explanation of the situation i got in on the project i just started on, and i was wondering if this was the way to go. Michel Current situation i've seen at this client is that testdata is contained in XML files, and there is a 'fake' database layer that connects all the xml files together. For the real database we're using the entity framework, and this works very simple. And now, in the 'fake' layer, i have top create all kind of classes to load, save, persist etc. the data. It sounds weird that there is so much work in the fake layer, and so little in the real layer. I hope this all makes sense :)

    Scenario is very simple somewhere in the code I have this dynamic myVariable = GetDataThatLooksVerySimilarButNotTheSame(); //how to do this? if (myVariable.MyProperty.Exists) //Do stuff So basically the question is how to check (avoiding exceptions) that a certain property is available in my dynamic variable. I could do GetType() but I d rather avoid that, I dont actually want to know the type of the object I want to know if a property (or method if that makes life easier) is available Any pointers?     In my utility method: public static <T> T getField(Object obj, Class c, String fieldName) { try { Field field = c.getDeclaredField(fieldName); field.setAccessible(true); return (T) field.get(obj); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); fail(); return null; } } The line return (T) field.get(obj); gives the warning "Type safety: Unchecked cast from Object to T"; but I cannot perform instanceof check against type parameter T, so what am I suppose to do here?

  • Intermittent FTP login issues (Microsoft IIS FTP Service)

    I've got a somewhat weird problem which I'm not sure how to troubleshoot. We have a FTP running on a Windows Server 2003 machine using the IIS FTP Service, this is for our clients and is configured with IP-restrictions. However, now ONE of the clients starts complaining that they can't log in to the server from time to time. This is just ONE of 10+ clients that have this issue, which makes me think it's a problem on their side. Just to be on the safe side I had a peek into the FTP logs and found something strange. Whenever succeed in loggin in this is what I can find in the logs: nnn.nnn.nnn.70, userxxx, 2012-06-11, 09:22:32, MSFTPSVC1, SERVERNAME, nnn.nn.nn.11, 0, 0, 0, 331, 0, [191747]USER, userxxx, -, nnn.nnn.nnn.70, userxxx, 2012-06-11, 09:22:32, MSFTPSVC1, SERVERNAME, nnn.nn.nn.11, 0, 0, 0, 230, 0, [191747]PASS, -, -, However, if the login fails I see the following events: nnn.nnn.nnn.70, userxxx, 2012-06-11, 09:16:33, MSFTPSVC1, SERVERNAME, nnn.nn.nn.11, 0, 0, 0, 331, 0, [191739]USER, userxxx, -, nnn.nnn.nnn.70, -, 2012-06-11, 09:16:33, MSFTPSVC1, SERVERNAME, nnn.nn.nn.11, 0, 0, 0, 530, 1326, [191739]PASS, -, -, When you look at the event where the clients sends the PASS in the successful login it seems to know that it is infact "userxxx" that is coupled to that PASS, but when it fails it seems to be lost since user in the PASS event is set to "-".   • How to have internet connection over VPN while "Microsoft Firewall Client for ISA server" is running

    I have the software mentioned in the title running on my machine. When I connect over VPN to my company's network, my internet connection gets borked, because somehow the ISA firewall blocks it. This is completely idiotic, because my work involves extensive use of the internet, so having to disconnect and reconnect continuously seriously cripples my productivity. (Meaning: I'm tearing my hair out here.) Can I have my VPN connection and somehow still have my internet connection too? I'm open to any solution.

    I have a function that returns a tuple that, among others, contains a float value. Usually I use assertAlmostEquals to compare those, but this does not work with tuples. Also, the tuple contains other data-types as well. Currently I am asserting every element of the tuple individually, but that gets too much for a list of such tuples. Is there any good way to write assertions for such cases?

  • Microsoft DNS Server (Windows 2008) CNAME issue

    I am using the DNS role in Windows Server 2008 R2. I have my records set up correctly with the following CNAMEs: {removed domain names for security} Currently, only the 'wsp' cname works. All the records are identically set up. I have checked with a DNS checker, and the other two CNAMEs do not resolve to anything. I have tried restarting the server, re-creating the forward lookup zone. Can anyone see what is wrong? 'A' records work fine when set.

  • iOS - Application logging test and production code

    I am doing a bunch of logging when I'm testing my application which is useful for getting information about variable state and such. However I have read that you should use logging sparsely in production code (because it can potentially slow down your application). But my question is now: if my app is in production and people are using it, whenever a crash (god forbid) occurs, how will I be able to interpret the crash information if I have removed the logging statements? Then I suppose I will only have a stacktrace for me to interpret? Does this mean I should leave logging in production code only WHERE it's really essential for me to interpret what has happened? Also how will the logging statements relate to the crash reports? Will they be combined? I'm thinking of using Flurry as analytics and crash reports...

  • Trouble setting up incoming VPN in Microsoft SBS 2008 through a Cisco ASA 5505 appliance

    I have replaced an aging firewall (custom setup using Linux) with a Cisco ASA 5505 appliance for our network. It's a very simple setup with around 10 workstations and a single Small Business Server 2008. Setting up incoming ports for SMTP, HTTPS, remote desktop etc. to the SBS went fine - they are working like they should. However, I have not succeeded in allowing incoming VPN connections. The clients trying to connect (running Windows 7) are stuck with the "Verifying username and password..." dialog before getting an error message 30 seconds later. We have a single external, static IP, so I cannot set up the VPN connection on another IP address. I have forwarded TCP port 1723 the same way as I did for SMTP and the others, by adding a static NAT route translating traffic from the SBS server on port 1723 to the outside interface. In addition, I set up an access rule allowing all GRE packets (src any, dst any). I have figured that I must somehow forward incoming GRE packets to the SBS server, but this is where I am stuck. I am using ADSM to configure the 5505 (not console). Any help is very much appreciated!
