  • Saving a Join Model

    - by Thorpe Obazee
    I've been reading the cookbook for a while now and still don't get how I'm supposed to do this: My original problem was this: A related Model isn't being validated From RabidFire's commment: If you want to count the number of Category models that a new Post is associated with (on save), then you need to do this in the beforeSave function as I've mentioned. As you've currently set up your models, you don't need to use the multiple rule anywhere. If you really, really want to validate against a list of Category IDs for some reason, then create a join model, and validate category_id with the multiple rule there. Now, I have these models and are now validating. The problem now is that data isn't being saved in the Join Table: class Post extends AppModel { var $name = 'Post'; var $hasMany = array( 'CategoryPost' => array( 'className' => 'CategoryPost' ) ); var $belongsTo = array( 'Page' => array( 'className' => 'Page' ) ); class Category extends AppModel { var $name = 'Category'; var $hasMany = array( 'CategoryPost' => array( 'className' => 'CategoryPost' ) ); class CategoryPost extends AppModel { var $name = 'CategoryPost'; var $validate = array( 'category_id' => array( 'rule' => array('multiple', array('in' => array(1, 2, 3, 4))), 'required' => FALSE, 'message' => 'Please select one, two or three options' ) ); var $belongsTo = array( 'Post' => array( 'className' => 'Post' ), 'Category' => array( 'className' => 'Category' ) ); This is the new Form: <div id="content-wrap"> <div id="main"> <h2>Add Post</h2> <?php echo $this->Session->flash();?> <div> <?php echo $this->Form->create('Post'); echo $this->Form->input('Post.title'); echo $this->Form->input('CategoryPost.category_id', array('multiple' => 'checkbox')); echo $this->Form->input('Post.body', array('rows' => '3')); echo $this->Form->input('Page.meta_keywords'); echo $this->Form->input('Page.meta_description'); echo $this->Form->end('Save Post'); ?> </div> <!-- main ends --> </div> The data I am producing from the form is as follows: Array ( [Post] => Array ( [title] => 1234 [body] => 1234 ) [CategoryPost] => Array ( [category_id] => Array ( [0] => 1 [1] => 2 ) ) [Page] => Array ( [meta_keywords] => 1234 [meta_description] => 1234 [title] => 1234 [layout] => index ) ) UPDATE: controller action //Controller action function admin_add() { // pr(Debugger::trace()); $this->set('categories', $this->Post->CategoryPost->Category->find('list')); if ( ! empty($this->data)) { $this->data['Page']['title'] = $this->data['Post']['title']; $this->data['Page']['layout'] = 'index'; debug($this->data); if ($this->Post->saveAll($this->data)) { $this->Session->setFlash('Your post has been saved', 'flash_good'); $this->redirect($this->here); } } } UPDATE #2: Should I just do this manually? The problem is that the join tables doesn't have things saved in it. Is there something I'm missing? UPDATE #3 RabidFire gave me a solution. I already did this before and am quite surprised as so why it didn't work. Thus, me asking here. The reason I think there is something wrong. I don't know where: Post beforeSave: function beforeSave() { if (empty($this->id)) { $this->data[$this->name]['uri'] = $this->getUniqueUrl($this->data[$this->name]['title']); } if (isset($this->data['CategoryPost']['category_id']) && is_array($this->data['CategoryPost']['category_id'])) { echo 'test'; $categoryPosts = array(); foreach ($this->data['CategoryPost']['category_id'] as $categoryId) { $categoryPost = array( 'category_id' => $categoryId ); array_push($categoryPosts, $categoryPost); } $this->data['CategoryPost'] = $categoryPosts; } debug($this->data); // Gives RabidFire's correct array for saving. return true; } My Post action: function admin_add() { // pr(Debugger::trace()); $this->set('categories', $this->Post->CategoryPost->Category->find('list')); if ( ! empty($this->data)) { $this->data['Page']['title'] = $this->data['Post']['title']; $this->data['Page']['layout'] = 'index'; debug($this->data); // First debug is giving the correct array as above. if ($this->Post->saveAll($this->data)) { debug($this->data); // STILL gives the above array. which shouldn't be because of the beforeSave in the Post Model // $this->Session->setFlash('Your post has been saved', 'flash_good'); // $this->redirect($this->here); } } }

  • Swap image with jquery and show zoom image

    - by Neil Bradley
    Hi there, On my site I have 4 thumbnail product images that when clicked on swap the main image. This part is working okay. However, on the main image I'm also trying to use the jQZoom script. The zoom script works for the most part, except that the zoomed image always displays the zoom of the first image, rather than the one selected. This can be seen in action here; http://www.wearecapital.com/productdetails-new.asp?id=6626 I was wondering if someone might be able to suggest a solution? My code for the page is here; <% if session("qstring") = "" then session("qstring") = "&amp;rf=latest" maxProducts = 6 prodID = request("id") if prodID = "" or not isnumeric(prodid) then response.Redirect("listproducts.asp?err=1" & session("qstring")) else prodId = cint(prodId) end if SQL = "Select * from products,subcategories,labels where subcat_id = prod_subcategory and label_id = prod_label and prod_id = " & prodID set conn = server.CreateObject("ADODB.connection") conn.Open(Application("DATABASE")) set rs = conn.Execute(SQL) if rs.eof then ' product is not valid name = "Error - product id " & prodID & " is not available" else image1 = rs.fields("prod_image1") image1Desc = rs.fields("prod_image1Desc") icon = rs.fields("prod_icon") subcat = rs.fields("prod_subcategory") image2 = rs.fields("prod_image2") image2Desc = rs.fields("prod_image2Desc") image3 = rs.fields("prod_image3") image3Desc = rs.fields("prod_image3Desc") image4 = rs.fields("prod_image4") image4Desc = rs.fields("prod_image4Desc") zoomimg = rs.Fields("prod_zoomimg") zoomimg2 = rs.Fields("prod_zoomimg2") zoomimg3 = rs.Fields("prod_zoomimg3") zoomimg4 = rs.Fields("prod_zoomimg4") thumb1 = rs.fields("prod_preview1").value thumb2 = rs.fields("prod_preview2").value thumb3 = rs.fields("prod_preview3").value thumb4 = rs.fields("prod_preview4").value end if set rs = nothing conn.Close set conn = nothing %> <!-- #include virtual="/includes/head-product.asp" --> <body id="detail"> <!-- #include virtual="/includes/header.asp" --> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> function switchImg(imgName) { var ImgX = document.getElementById("mainimg"); ImgX.src="/images/products/" + imgName; } </script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ var options = { zoomWidth: 466, zoomHeight: 260, xOffset: 34, yOffset: 0, title: false, position: "right" //and MORE OPTIONS }; $(".MYCLASS").jqzoom(options); }); </script> <!-- #include virtual="/includes/nav.asp" --> <div id="column-left"> <div id="main-image"> <% if oldie = false then %><a href="/images/products/<%=zoomimg%>" class="MYCLASS" title="MYTITLE"><img src="/images/products/<%=image1%>" title="IMAGE TITLE" name="mainimg" id="mainimg" style="width:425px; height:638px;" ></a><% end if %> </div> </div> <div id="column-right"> <div id="altviews"> <h3 class="altviews">Alternative Views</h3> <ul> <% if oldie = false then writeThumb thumb1,image1,zoomimg,image1desc writeThumb thumb2,image2,zoomimg2,image2desc writeThumb thumb3,image3,zoomimg3,image3desc writeThumb thumb4,image4,zoomimg4,image4desc end if %> </ul> </div> </div> <!-- #include virtual="/includes/footer-test.asp" --> <% sub writeThumb(thumbfile, imgfile, zoomfile, thumbdesc) response.Write "<li>" if thumbfile <> "65/default_preview.jpg" and thumbfile <> "" and not isnull(thumbfile) then if imgFile <> "" and not isnull(imgfile) then rimgfile = replace(imgfile,"/","//") else rimgfile = "" if thumbdesc <> "" and not isnull(thumbdesc) then rDescription = replace(thumbdesc,"""","&quot;") else rDescription = "" response.write "<img src=""/images/products/"& thumbfile &""" style=""cursor: pointer"" border=""0"" style=""width:65px; height:98px;"" title="""& rDescription &""" onclick=""switchImg('" & rimgfile & "')"" />" & vbcrlf else response.write "<img src=""/images/products/65/default_preview.jpg"" alt="""" />" & vbCrLF end if response.write "</li>" & vbCrLF end sub %>

  • how to set keyboard for phonetic Hindi typing oneiric for Wx keyboard on QWERTY keyboard

    - by Registered User
    I am trying to type documents in Hindi language. My OS: Ubuntu 11.10 Gnome environment (http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=gnome-session-fallback) I do not use unity interface.The method is shown here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LL7icGNhIfI I am able to type in Hindi in Libreoffice and gedit as well with method shown above.But this is a very difficult way of typing because I have to remember all the English Keys corresponding to the Hindi words as mapped here http://docs.redhat.com/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/5/html-single/International_Language_Support_Guide/images/hindi.png What I want to be able to do is type phonetically and not use above kind of keyboard. I have US English keyboard in my laptop. See the snapshot here https://picasaweb.google.com/107404068162388981296/UnknownAsianLanguage#5704771437325752466 I have selected the phonetic input method in Ibus window but this still is not working as expected. I expect to be able to type phonetically (given with above phonetic selection) what is happening is I have to type like using a QWERTY keyboard for Hindi language which is deviation from expected behavior. How can I rectify or achieve correct behavior?

  • Installing Lubuntu 14.04.1 fails, upowerd appears to hang

    - by Rantanplan
    On the live-CD session, I tried installing Lubuntu double clicking on the install button on the desktop. Here, the CD starts running but then stops running and nothing happens. Next, I rebooted and tried installing Lubuntu directly from the boot menu screen using forcepae again. After a while, I receive the following error message: The installer encountered an unrecoverable error. A desktop session will now be run so that you may investigate the problem or try installing again. Hitting Enter brings me to the desktop. For what errors should I search? And how? • xrdp and xfce4 Ubuntu 14.04 slow refreshrate

    - by Awatatah
    I am running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 32bit and I am connecting via windows rdp to my ubuntu machine that has xrdp with xfce4 session. Network is 40mbps/5mbps. RDP to a windows machine from a windows machine is flawless from same location. I can connect fine, but the refresh rate is horrible. When it fist opens the desktop, the picture drags as seen in this image. The same thing happens when items are opened, closed, etc. Windows have the same effect. Sometimes up to 4 seconds before the image is rendered, depending on the image. Is there a setting to improve the refresh rate or something I can do to fix?

  • Unity Locks Up in Live CD

    - by user212883
    I'm trying to run from the live USB to install Ubuntu 13.10 on my Windows Machine (as I've grown a touch sick of Windows). However, whenever I boot into the LiveUSB session after a few moments the Unity desktop locks up (except the mouse pointer, which I can move). Is this something to do with the fact I've got an NVidia 580 GTX? I've heard of issues with Ubuntu and this card. I've also got an SSD, but given that it's booting from USB I shouldn't think that's an issue. • SQLAuthority News – Author Visit Review – TechMela Nepal – March 29-30, 2010

    - by pinaldave
    I was very fortunate to attend TechMela at Kathmandu, Nepal on 29th and 30th of March 2010. I would like to thank Allen Bailochan Tuladhar from Microsoft MDP Nepal for inviting me. Allen is a person with seemingly infinite energy and unlimited passion for Microsoft Technology. If you get an opportunity to spend just one hour with him, you will surely be more enthusiastic with regards to Microsoft Technology. And, I was lucky enough that I was able to spend about a total of 9 days with him in Kathmandu, working along with him in the Tech Community. TechMela Nepal Pinal at TechMela, Nepal TechMela is considered as one of the biggest events in Nepal, having been organized by Microsoft MDP Nepal. This event was attended by around 500 students and hundreds of Tech professionals. The event was handled very professionally and at very large scale. Every minor detail was properly planned and obviously thought out well. There were around 50+ volunteers from MS MDP who were monitoring this event systematically to make sure the event would run as smooth as planned. Attendees in Geek T-Shirts During this event, I was delighted to meet David Lim of Microsoft Singapore. He is very passionate in working for Microsoft Technology, as well as building deep relations with the Community. I was fortunate to spend my entire afternoon with him during the sight-seeing trip. We discussed various MS technologies and their community’s adoption as well as the way how each of us can be a part of the community activity. He also delivered excellent keynotes at the event. I must say that this is one of the most enjoyable keynotes I have ever attended. It was interesting and interactive, and I must say that I had the 70s feelings with all the fonts and graphics. I still remember him saying, “Yeah, I was a student and I know you.” Allen Tuladhar, David Lim, Pinal Dave and Guests After the keynote, everybody cheered when Allen came on stage to talk about the event and to introduce the agenda for the next two days. I must say that Allen is one of the most well-known people in Nepal. I was impressed with his popularity, and to prove this, when he got on the stage he had to wait for a long full minute before he was able to greet “Welcome” while the attendees were clapping and cheering. Technology Panelist at Techmela Kathmandu, Nepal This event was blessed with the top-of-the-top officials of various IT industries, Nepal ministries and the US Embassy. All the prominent personalities were present for panel discussion on the stage. The talk was done on various subjects. Also, the energy level which was set by Allen really echoed in the audience as they asked certain questions on different global as well local IT-related questions. The panel discussion really was discussion instead of usual monologue of one person. Pinal Dave presenting at TechMela Kathmandu, Nepal This was a two-day event and my session was on either of the day. I had a great participation from the audience on both days. The place where the event was organized had a capacity of around 500+ audience. Both of my sessions were heavily attended and volunteers did a fabulous job helping the attendees find empty seats or arrange some additional seats. I was overwhelmed with the interaction I have received in the large hall. Attendees were not so shy to express their thoughts, so both the sessions were followed up by top notch one-on-one conversations for a couple of hours. Pinal Dave presenting at TechMela Kathmandu, Nepal Pinal Dave presenting at TechMela Kathmandu, Nepal There are many questions that I have received during the event, and many of them can be interesting for all of us here so I will write detailed blog posts on these subjects. I also tried to participate in the gaming activities held at the event, but I felt I was kind of lost even if I was only playing for the very first minutes. This made me realize that I am really getting old for video games. Allen presenting at TechMela Kathmandu, Nepal Allen’s session on Digital Photography was very impressive as he demonstrated so many features of the Windows Live Product that at one point I felt he is MVP for Windows Live. In fact, he demonstrated how all the Microsoft products work together to give users an excellent desktop experience; no wonder he is an MVP for Windows Desktop Experience. Pinal Dave presending at TechMela Kathmandu, Nepal Any event has two common dilemmas – food and logistics. However, this event had excellent food and state-of-the-art organization. I was very glad that this two-day event turned out to be one of the most successful events in Nepal. I also noticed that almost all attendees rate their experience as beyond expectation and truly exceptional.

Pinal Dave presending at TechMela Kathmandu, Nepal This was a two-day event and my session was on either of the day. Pinal Dave presending at TechMela Kathmandu, Nepal Pinal Dave presending at TechMela Kathmandu, Nepal Pinal Dave presending at TechMela Kathmandu, Nepal There are many questions that I have received during the event, and many of them can be interesting for all of us here so I will write detailed blog posts on these subjects. I also tried to participate in the gaming activities held at the event, but I felt I was kind of lost even if I was only playing for the very first minutes. This made me realize that I am really getting old for video games. Allen presending at TechMela Kathmandu, Nepal Allen’s session on Digital Photography was very impressive as he demonstrated so many features of the Windows Live Product that at one point I felt he is MVP for Windows Live. Pinal Dave and Allen Bailochan Tuladhar If you ever get invited by Allen in any of his event, I strongly suggest that you drop all your plans and scheduled stuff, and accept his invitation. For sure, the event will be a very memorable one and would be your once-in-a-lifetime experience. • Developer Training – Various Options for Maximum Benefit – Part 4

    - by pinaldave
    Developer Training - Importance and Significance - Part 1 Developer Training – Employee Morals and Ethics – Part 2 Developer Training – Difficult Questions and Alternative Perspective - Part 3 Developer Training – Various Options for Developer Training – Part 4 Developer Training – A Conclusive Summary- Part 5 If you have been reading this series, by now you are aware of all the pros and cons that can come along with training.  We’ve asked and answered hard questions, and investigated them “whys” and “hows” of training.  Now it is time to talk about all the different kinds of training that are out there! On Job Training The most common type of training is on the job training.  Everyone receives this kind of education – even experts who come in to consult have to be taught where the printer, pens, and copy machines are.  If you are thinking about more concrete topics, though, on the job training can be some of the easiest to come across.  Picture this: someone in the company whom you really admire is hard at work on a project.  You come up to them and ask to help them out – if they are a busy developer, the odds are that they will say “yes, please!”   If you phrase your question as an offer of help, you can receive training without ever putting someone in the awkward position of acting as a mentor.  However, some people may want the task of being a mentor.  It can never hurt to ask.  Most people will be more than willing to pass their knowledge along. Extreme Programming If your company and coworkers are willing, you can even investigate Extreme Programming.  This is a type of programming that allows small teams to quickly develop code and products that are released with almost immediate user feedback.  You can find more information at http://www.extremeprogramming.org/.  If this is something your company could use, suggest it to your supervisor.  Even if they say no, it will make it clear that you are a go-getter who is interested in new and exciting projects.  If the answer is yes, then you have the opportunity to get some of the best on the job training around. In Person Training Click on Image to Enlarge When you say the word “training,” most people’s minds go back to the classroom, an image they are familiar with.  While training doesn’t always have to be in a traditional setting, because it is so familiar it can also be the most valuable type of training.  There are many ways to get training through a live instructor.  Some companies may be willing to send a representative to you, where employees will get training, sometimes food and coffee, and a live instructor who can answer questions immediately.  Sometimes these trainers are also able to do consultations at the same time, which can invaluable to a company.  If you are the one to asks your supervisor for a training session that can also be turned into a consultation, you may stick in their minds as an incredibly dedicated employee.  If you can’t find a representative, local colleges can also be a good resource for free or cheap classes – or they may have representatives coming who are willing to take on a few more students. Benefits of On Demand Developer Training Of course, you can often get the best of all these types of training with online or On Demand training.  You can get the benefit of a live instructor who is willing to answer questions (although in this case, usually through e-mail or other online venues), there are often real-world examples to follow along – like on the job training – and best of all you can learn whenever you have the time or need.  Did a problem with your server come up at midnight when all your supervisors are safe at home and probably in bed?  No problem!  On Demand training is especially useful if you need to slow down, pause, or rewind a training session.  Not even a real-life instructor can do that! When I was writing this blog post, I felt that each of the subject, which I have covered can be blog posts of itself. However, I wanted to keep the the blog post concise and so touch based on three major training aspects 1) On Job Training 2) In Person Training and 3) Online training. Here is the question for you – is there any other kind of training methods available, which are effective and one should consider it? If yes, what are those, I may write a follow up blog post on the same subject next week. • Java ME SDK 3.2 is now live

    - by SungmoonCho
    Hi everyone, It has been a while since we released the last version. We have been very busy integrating new features and making lots of usability improvements into this new version. Datasheet is available here. Please visit Java ME SDK 3.2 download page to get the latest and best version yet! Some of the new features in this version are described below. Embedded Application SupportOracle Java ME SDK 3.2 now supports the new Oracle® Java ME Embedded. This includes support for JSR 228, the Information Module Profile-Next Generation API (IMP-NG). You can test and debug applications either on the built-in device emulators or on your device. Memory MonitorThe Memory Monitor shows memory use as an application runs. It displays a dynamic detailed listing of the memory usage per object in table form, and a graphical representation of the memory use over time. Eclipse IDE supportOracle Java ME SDK 3.2 now officially supports Eclipse IDE. Once you install the Java ME SDK plugins on Eclipse, you can start developing, debugging, and profiling your mobile or embedded application. Skin CreatorWith the Custom Device Skin Creator, you can create your own skins. The appearance of the custom skins is generic, but the functionality can be tailored to your own specifications.  Here are the release highlights. Implementation and support for the new Oracle® Java Wireless Client 3.2 runtime and the Oracle® Java ME Embedded runtime. The AMS in the CLDC emulators has a new look and new functionality (Install Application, Manage Certificate Authorities and Output Console). Support for JSR 228, the Information Module Profile-Next Generation API (IMP-NG). The IMP-NG platform is implemented as a subset of CLDC. Support includes: A new emulator for headless devices. Javadocs for the following Oracle APIs: Device Access API, Logging API, AMS API, and AccessPoint API. New demos for IMP-NG features can be run on the emulator or on a real device running the Oracle® Java ME Embedded runtime. New Custom Device Skin Creator. This tool provides a way to create and manage custom emulator skins. The skin appearance is generic, but the functionality, such as the JSRs supported or the device properties, are up to you. This utility only supported in NetBeans. Eclipse plugin for CLDC/MIDP. For the first time Oracle Java ME SDK is available as an Eclipse plugin. The Eclipse version does not support CDC, the Memory Monitor, and the Custom Device Skin Creator in this release. All Java ME tools are implemented as NetBeans plugins. As of the plugin integrates Java ME utilities into the standard NetBeans menus. Tools > Java ME menu is the place to launch Java ME utilities, including the new Skin Creator. Profile > Java ME is the place to work with the Network Monitor and the Memory Monitor. Use the standard NetBeans tools for debugging. Profiling, Network monitoring, and Memory monitoring are integrated with the NetBeans profiling tools. New network monitoring protocols are supported in this release: WMA, SIP, Bluetooth and OBEX, SATSA APDU and JCRMI, and server sockets. Java ME SDK Update Center. Oracle Java ME SDK can be updated or extended by new components. The Update Center can download, install, and uninstall plugins specific to the Java ME SDK. A plugin consists of runtime components and skins. Bug fixes and enhancements. This version comes with a few known problems. All of them have workarounds, so I hope you don't get stuck in these issues when you are using the product. It you cannot watch static variables during an Eclipse debugging session, and sometimes the Variable view cannot show data. In the source code, move the mouse over the required variable to inspect the variable value. A real device shown in the Device Selector is deleted from the Device Manager, yet it still appears. Kill the device manager in the system tray, and relaunch it. Then you will see the device removed from the list. On-device profiling does not work on a device. CPU profiling, networking monitoring, and memory monitoring do not work on the device, since the device runtime does not yet support it. Please do the profiling with your emulator first, and then test your application on the device. In the Device Selector, using Clean Database on real external device causes a null pointer exception. External devices do not have a database recognized by the SDK, so you can disregard this exception message. Suspending the Emulator during a Memory Monitor session hangs the emulator. Do not use the Suspend option (F5) while the Memory Monitor is running. If the emulator is hung, open the Windows task manager and stop the emulator process (javaw). To switch to another application while the Memory Monitor is running, choose Application > AMS Home (F4), and select a different application. Please let us know how we can improve it even better, by sending us your feedback. -Java ME SDK Team

  • Hot to fix nautilus desktop on linux mint

    - by user59530
    so I'm using Linux Mint 13 with Cinnamon and suddenly there are no icons on the desktop and the right click doesn't work, it's like the desktop doesn't start up at all, but the Cinnamon interface and everything else are working just fine. This happens only when I open the session with Cinnamon, if I start the session on the classic Gnome or MATE the desktop works. I tried to re-install Cinnamon but nothing changed. Then, I noticed that there are some little problems in Nautilus (sometimes menus aren't the color they're supposed to be), so I'm convinced that Nautilus might be the problem, but I don't know how to fix this, I've tried a few thing but I'm starting to fear that I'm only making it worse. Also, when I open the terminal and type in nautilus here's what's shows up, any help? (nautilus:2906): Gtk-WARNING **: Theme parsing error: gtk-widgets.css:85:17: Not using units is deprecated. MORE DETAILS: UltraVNC client running on a Windows computer can login and shows the Ubuntu desktop, and controls the Ubuntu mouse to do things, but the VNC client view at the Windows computer does NOT show any changes to the display at the Ubuntu desktop, only the original desktop view at the time of VNC client login. UPDATE I solved it by following the askubuntu post: "VNC session very slow in 12.04 compared to older versions", which said to do this: gsettings set org.gnome.Vino disable-xdamage true ..and it worked. But should I be concerned about the error messages?

  • TDD and your emerging design

    - by andrewstopford
    I was at DevWeek last week, it was a great week and I got a chance to speak with some of my geek heroes (Jeff Richter is a walking, talking CLR). One of the folks I most enjoyed listening to was ThoughtWorker Neal Ford who gave a session on emergeant design in TDD. Something struck me about the RGR cycle in TDD in that design could either be missed or misplaced if the refactor phase is never carried out and after the inital green phase the design is considered done. In TDD the emergant design that evolves as part of the cycle is key to the approach.  Neal talked about using cyclometric complexity as a measure of your emerging design but other considerations would surely include SOLID and DRY during the cycles. As you refactor to these kinds of design principles your design evolves.

  • Sam Abraham To Speak about MVC & MVVM at InterClick on May 19th

    - by Sam Abraham
    My next speaking engagement will be taking place at InterClick in Boca Raton, FL on Wednesday May 19th 2010.  Here is a quick abstract of what I will be blabbing about: MVC & MVVM are two of many buzzwords under the Architecture Spotlight as means of achieving true separation of concerns between data, business logic and UI layers. In this session, we will be discussing the basic concepts of Microsoft MVC and demonstrating the ease of creating a new MVC project and related Unit Tests within VS2010. We will then move to introduce MVVM as a design paradigm and incorporating that into an MS MVC application structure. Next, we will take a look at MVVM in the context of a sample Silverlight application. Throughout our talk we will be demonstrating various features of the latest and greatest VS2010. You can get more information about the event and the speaker, as well as register to attend at this link: http://sherstaff.com/EventSignUp.aspx?EventID=777 Look forward to seeing you all there.
