    Hi all. Te question is how to add text to path element. For example, I have path: Path firstPath = new Path(); firstPath.Stroke = Brushes.Black; firstPath.StrokeThickness = 1; myCanvas.Children.Add(firstPath); LineGeometry firstLine = new LineGeometry(); firstPath.Data = firstLine; And somewhere I define line's Start and End point's. The path is binded to controls (for example - two ellipses) and when I drag one of them, the line is dynamically resized and moved to be pinned to both objects. And now I wand to add some text, that would fit to this line and follow it. Any recommendations how to do this?

  • What is your workflow when designing HTML/CSS layouts?

    I have been working with PHP/MySQL as a hobby for close to a couple of years now, I have been working with photoshop for a very long time, I know CSS & HTML well enough to write without any reference, so, I would not consider myself someone who's very new at this. I have recently started developing websites professionally - (only person working on the project). I have seen the power of Joomla and how you can make a website ready for your customer in a matter of hours(if not minutes). I find it very hard to make layouts that remotely look like the themes on joomla. I find making even simple layouts a very cumbersome process and takes a lot of time to get a good enough output. I have a feeling I may not be using the right tools or workflow for the job. What I wanted to findout was, as part of the industry : How do, you, make your website when you do it from scratch? What are the tools that you use? What is your workflow? Just noted a few things I know already, for your reference(You can skip this if you like) I have seen the export for web for Photoshop that exports CSS - but (as far as I know) exports only absolutely positioned webpages so they need to be beaten and fixed if you want to use them for example for joomla. I have used the SiteGrinder plugin for Photoshop that exports HTML/CSS. It looks promising but haven't tried it extensively. One of the tools that save loads of time is FireBug. This makes it easy to edit html and css on the fly and get the page looking exactly as you want it. Recently stumbled upon fireworks. But haven't explored it much. Thanks! :)

  • IE z-index relative/absolute bug in list

    I have the following navigation where .topNav has position:relative and subnav has position:absolute. I cant get the sublist to appear over the main list due to z-index problems. This seems to be a known problem. <ul> <li class="topNav">About Us <ul class="subNav"><li> Subsection A</li><li>Subsection B</li></ul> </li> </ul> Does anyone know of a workaround? UPDATE http://brh.numbera.com/experiments/ie7_tests/zindex.html shows exacly the problem I have. My original posting was in the context of a list but I have reduced the problem to the fact that z-index dosn't seem to work when have an element with position:absolute inside a parent element with position:relative

  • The uncatchable exception

    Another custom MarkupExtension binding question... This time, my converter is being called before DataContext is set on the target element. This isn't a big deal because it will get updated when DataContext eventually receives a value. What is causing problems is the NullReferenceException I'm getting because of DataContext being null. Even though I'm attempting to catch the exception in my value converter: try { return ( (MethodInfo)_member ).Invoke( parameter, null ); } catch { return Binding.DoNothing; } For some reason the debugger is still halting at this point. Now I'm thinking it could be because the exception is happening in another assembly from where it is being caught (I'm trying to package this in a reusable class library, and _member above points to a method in the application assembly). If I run my little test app without the debugger it works fine, however my application is a little more robust and has general exception handling which is getting triggered because of this. I'm wondering if there is just some attribute or something (or perhaps some reflection parameter I'm missing?) I can use to make the exception be caught like it's supposed to.

  • How can I find out why a website looks different when I upload it to IIS ?

    Good day... I've been working on a website project, that requires to be on a Microsoft IIS Web Server. It is HTML, pure HTML, with really nice CSS, web-standards, etc. I open this website using in my computer, using Firefox, IE 8.0, Safari, Google Chrome and it looks fine everywhere. But as I upload it to the Microsoft IIS server, it changes a few things. for example: the main menu, which is a navigation bar that has dropdowns, seems to change it's line-height for some reason, and it is bigger. Some <h3> or <h2> Alignment seems wrong as well... And the lines that are supposed to surround the photographs in the website (like a frame - dotted line) won't appear. But all the rest of the CSS is loading perfectly fine. I don't think it's a path problem as everything is loading fine. But this is making me look bad and it is very important to have this done as soon as possible. Can someone give me good suggestions on what to look at ? The IIS permissions seem fine. I'm not a big Microsoft fan...but I have to develop the website there. Also, I uploaded the site to my apache server and it worked wonders. I wish I could change the policies in this corporation, but I can't. Thank you so much for your kind help.

  • MVVM: Thin ViewModels and Rich Models

    I'm continuing to struggle with the MVVM pattern and, in attempting to create a practical design for a small/medium project, have run into a number of challenges. One of these challenges is figuring out how to get the benefits of decoupling with this pattern without creating a lot of repetitive, hard-to-maintain code. My current strategy has been to create 'rich' Model classes. They are fully aware that they will be consumed by an MVVM pattern and implement INotifyPropertyChanged, allow their collections to be observed and remain cognizant that they may always be under observation. My ViewModel classes tend to be thin, only exposing properties when data actually needs to be transformed, with the bulk of their code being RelayCommand handlers. Views happily bind to either ViewModels or Models directly, depending on whether any data transformation is required. I use AOP (via Postsharp) to ease the pain of INotifyPropertyChanged, making it easy to make all of my Model classes 'rich' in this way. Are there significant disadvantages to using this approach? Can I assume that the ViewModel and View are so tightly coupled that if I need new data transformation for the View, I can simply add it to the ViewModel as needed?

  • How do I change the CellErrorStyle for an Xceed Datagrid?

    So in the Xceed documentation there is a code example that does not work for me. It may be because my grid is bound to a DataGridCollectionView. The objects in the collection used by the datagridcollection are what implement IDataErrorInfo. The errors are showing up just fine. The problem is that they are using the default orange background for errors...I need a red border. Below is the XAML instantiation of my grid. I set the DataCell background property to red just so I could be sure I had access to the grid's properties... I do. I just can't find the way to identify the cell's w/ errors so I can style them.   • forcing a child component to resize itself larger than its container

    I am creating a component that displays a variable amount of "gauges" (square tiles of content if you will), that is laid out like so: <HDividedBox id="container"> <VBox id="myComponent"> <HBox id="header"> ...header content... </HBox> <Tile id="body"> ...gauges are added to the body... </Tile> </Vbox> </HDividedBox> The body Tile has a horizontal direction. When I drag the HDividedBox to make myComponent smaller, the body component will get smaller as well, and eventually if there are too many gauges to fit horizontally, they will be bumped to the next row, and thus the smaller I make myComponent, the number of vertically stacked gauges grows. This is all well and good. The problem is, no matter what combination of settings I use, I absolutely cannot get the body (a Tile) to size itself beyond the size of myComponent, which would ideally cause myComponent to scroll vertically. Even setting the maxHeight of the body to some huge value, it will never size itself larger than it's container. Any ideas on how to accomplish this? Thanks

  • how to tile 3D mesh with image brush in XAML

    I have a 2D square in a ViewPort3D that I want to do a tiling of an image (like a checkerboard or flooring with "tiles" effect). I've created an image brush (the image is 50x50 pixels, the surface 250x550 pixels) and a viewport (trying to follow MS's site - though their example is for 2D), but only 1 of the colors in the "tile" image shows up and no tiling is seen.   • Change column height as other column gets longer

    Hi, I have tried a few things to solve this problem but I can't seem to get it working. The problem is that I have 2 columns as the main part of my website, right and left. On some pages, there is a lot of text in the left column, therefore it is very long, the problem is that the right column doesn't elongate with the left column. Both columns have the same background colour and a footer s displayed across the width of both columns after the columns finish. My first thought was to put both columns inside a div which would have the same background colour as them and therefore if the left column became 1500px long in total and the right column stayed at around 600px (due to the elements inside it) then this wouldn't show as the new, outer div would elongate along with the left column. But for some reason this didn't work. Could it be because the columns are floated? Does anyone have any other ideas?   • CSS style to create an HTML with an image on left and input text boxes on right that fills all space

    I need to create an HTML page (a JqueryUI dialog but this isn't the problem) containing an image on left (size is fixed to 75x75) and on right some input text boxes, input boxes must resize to all remaining space. You can see an example at http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/5412/19483174.jpg The problem is that when I resize the dialog controls move under image as shown at http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/4817/44749696.jpg How can I resolve this problem in all browser and if possible using only CSS?
