  • Online webcam chat. Free server and easy-to-implement client?

    I have a client requesting that his users can use their webcams to talk to each other. From what I've understood the main thing to use for this is Flash. However as I have not written flash I would like to have something really easy to implement. Of course preferrably free (or trial). The idea of this is that everything but the chat alone is in .net. So the users will not use flash until they are actaully going to talk to each other. So there is no use for rooms here. I've been looking into silverlight some as well. But it seems like silverlight does not offer streaming between users..? I know this question has been asked many times here. But I could not find a suitable answer which is why I post a new question.

    Given a string of JSON data, how can you safely turn that string into a JavaScript object? Obviously you can do this unsafely with something like... var obj = eval("(" + json + ')'); ...but that leaves us vulnerable to the json string containing other code, which it seems very dangerous to simply eval.

    hello! i inject a map on my div called "concessionario-map" with GMap, a jquery plugin.   • [JS/jQuery] Using argument (this) passed via element eventhandler

    Hey guys, I want to use the argument I pass (this) in a JS function and treat it as an jQuery variable. Example: <script> function useMe(obj){ $(obj).val(); ... ... ... } </script> <select id="selectid" onChange="useMe(this)"> <option>......</option> </select> Is there a possibility to treat the passed argument as a jQuery element? Btw. I need to do it this way, because the select-element isn't created on load. The select element will be created later asynchronously.     Hello, Is it possible to load content from an external page (not relative) into div using jquery? I mean here by external page is another web application like for example: http://www.yahoo.com There is the code: $("#externalContent").load("http://www.yahoo.com", function () { alert("loading finish"); }); when I use firebug I got this result: you see here, i highlighted the response code, it's 200 which means OK, but still no content loaded. DOES anyone know the reason?

  • Making a jQuery selection in IE on html added via .load()

    Scenario: I am using jQuery to lazy load some html and change the relative href attributes of all the anchors to absolute links. The loading function adds the html in all browsers. The url rewrite function works on the original DOM in all browsers.     I created a marker interface: public interface ISupportAJAXPostsBacks{} I added it to my Page.. public partial class MyWebForm : PageBase, ISupportAJAXPostsBacks I have this check in my PageBase class... if(this is ISupportAJAXPostsBacks) { ... do some stuff ... } If I step through via the debugger, "this is ISupportAJAXPostsBacks" evaluates to true for the initial page load, but evaluates to false when an UpdatePanel posts back on that same page. (scratches head) What is happening under the covers to cause this and what can I do about it?

  • ScriptManager duplicates javascript

    Hi! I have a usercontrol that can be used in for example a gridview itemtemplate, this means that the control might or might not be on the page at page load. In the case where the control is inside an itemtemplate i will popupate the gridview via asyncronous postbacks (via updatepanels). The control itselfs registrers scriptblocks since it is depending on javascripts. First i used Page.ClientScript.RegistrerClientScriptBlock But this doesn't work on asyncronous postbacks (updatepanels) so i then tried the same using ScriptManager which allows me to registrer scripts on the page after async postbacks. great!. ScriptManager.RegisterClientScriptBlock However, ScriptManager (what i know of) does not have the functionallity to see if a script already is on the page, so i will for every postback generate duplicates of the script blocks, this is ofcourse unwanted behaviour. I did a run at Google and found that i can call the Dispose() method of the PageRequestManager can be used, this does work since it clears the scripts and then adding them again (this also solves my issue with removing unused script blocks from removed controls). Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager.getInstance().Dispose() However, ofcourse there is a downside since im posting here :). The Dispose() method disposes the instance on the master page as well which leads to scripts running there will stop to function after an async postback (updateprogress for example). So, is there a way to check if a script already exists on the page using ScriptManager or any other tools, that will prevent me of inserting duplicate scripts? Also, is there a way to remove certain script blocks (when i am removing an item in itemtemplate for example). Big thanks in advance.

  • Is it possible to return the "highlighted" (like Firebug) css selector or dom id with jquery?

    Hi Folks, When you click the "Click an element on the page to inspect" arrow with FireBug, it puts a Blue Border around the target element, and also returns the DOM Id. I am building an application and that feature would be awesome to add. Be able to hover over elements and highlight the target, upon clicking return the DOM Id or CSS selector to the application. Is there a jquery plugin that does this magic? Some other smart way? Thanks!, Jonathan

  • How do I connect multiple sortable lists to each other in jQuery UI?

    I'm new to jQuery, and I'm totally struggling with using jQuery UI's sortable. I'm trying to put together a page to facilitate grouping and ordering of items. My page has a list of groups, and each group contains a list of items. I want to allow users to be able to do the following: 1. Reorder the groups 2. Reorder the items within the groups 3. Move the items between the groups The first two requirements are no problem. I'm able to sort them just fine. The problem comes in with the third requirement. I just can't connect those lists to each other. Some code might help. Here's the markup. <ul id="groupsList" class="groupsList"> <li id="group1" class="group">Group 1 <ul id="groupItems1" class="itemsList"> <li id="item1-1" class="item">Item 1.1</li> <li id="item1-2" class="item">Item 1.2</li> </ul> </li> <li id="group2" class="group">Group 2 <ul id="groupItems2" class="itemsList"> <li id="item2-1" class="item">Item 2.1</li> <li id="item2-2" class="item">Item 2.2</li> </ul> </li> <li id="group3" class="group">Group 3 <ul id="groupItems3" class="itemsList"> <li id="item3-1" class="item">Item 3.1</li> <li id="item3-2" class="item">Item 3.2</li> </ul> </li> </ul> I was able to sort the lists by putting $('#groupsList').sortable({}); and $('.itemsList').sortable({}); in the document ready function. I tried using the connectWith option for sortable to make it work, but I failed spectacularly. What I'd like to do is have the every groupItemsX list connected to every groupItemsX list but itself. How should I do that?

  • Implement a calender with Ruby and Javascript in Rails

    I'm trying to implement a calendar with Ruby and Javascript in Rails. I'm using a calendar helper that creates a calendar with given year and month and events as parameters (<%= calendar(:year => 2012, :month => 4, :events => @events %>). I also have three buttons next, today and previous with which the user should be able to navigate the calendar with. I am also going to implement some js that makes it possible to select dates in the calendar. So what I would like to do is to insert the calendar in the DOM with javascript in order to generate a new calendar when the user clicks one of the buttons. That way I will be able to control the behavior of the buttons and add the select functionality. The problem is that I can't just insert my erb code in a javascript plus I'm not even sure it's the right way to go? Any suggestions are appreciated!

  • How do I update a webpage with the progress of a server-side task?

    Hi everyone, I'm working on a web project that takes the results from a survey type application, and runs them through a bunch of calculations to come up with some recommended suggestions for the user. Now, this calculation might take a minute or so, so I'd like to be able to give the user some update on it's progress. Obviously, the quick and dirty solution would be to put up a message along the lines of "Please wait while we calculate your recommendations" with a spinning gear type graphic. (or whatever, you get the point..). Once the task completes, I'd redirect to the results page. However, I'd like to do something a little more flashy. Maybe something along the lines of a progress bar, and even prompt the user with what's going on in the background. For example, give them a progress bar, with some text that says "Now processing suggestion 3 of 15; Multi-Vitamin" Any suggestions on how I could set this up? One way I'm thinking of doing it is to write the progress of the calculation method to the HttpContext, and slap up an update panel and timer that would show/refresh this info. I've also checked out maybe building a web service/method, and then poll that at some interval. Has anybody done something similar to this before? What worked for you? Thanks again! ~Jim
