  • Mysql concurrency: what happens if a locked table is accessed?

    the question is rather simple but I couldn't find a precise answer: in a myisam db, what happens if a php file locks a table (with an atomic operation, say an INSERT) and another php file tries to access the same table (reading or writing)? Now, while it is obvious that the second session will not be able to access the table, what exactly happens? Does it return some kind of error? Does is wait in queue until it is able to access it?     I have the jQuery datepicker working, but I need to be able to select more than just dates. I need to be able to select between some strings as well "Yesterday" and "Today" to be precise. So, the underlying input can contain any date as well as the strings "Yesterday" or "Today". Is there some way I can do this by tweaking the existing jQuery UI datepicker?

I have tried to look for "next" or "enter" in the keycodes but nothing really relevant... does anyone know? (actually, i've found the enter keycode to be precise, but it does not do anything)

What is the precise meaning, with regards to scope and visibility? When should I use one form over the other?

The second part shows an example with Interface class. But nothing in this article discusses why this pattern would rather use abstract or interface. So what explanation (advantages of one over the other) would you give ? Not in general but for this precise pattern.

For this purpose I'm trying to use the BASS.dll and well it isn't going so well. I was wondering if anyone has used BASS to convert from one audio format to another? Or is there another library better suited for this?

  • Documenting auto-generated code

    Hello, I use code-generation for my data access layer and Doxygen for documentation. My problem is that I can't add Xml comments on the generated classes since they will be overwritten as soon as I re-generate the code. To be more precise I can add Xml comments to my custom methods (which are in a separate file as partial classes) but I can't do it on data properties. Any suggestions?

    I have a SQL table (MYSQL 4.0 to be precise) composed of the following : int no (primary) int field1 int field2 I would like to swap the values of field1 with the values of field2 and vice-versa. Ex.: 1;2.5;3.76 becomes 1;3.76;2.5 I need a swapping temporary variable of some sort. But I don't think I can use something like Set @var1 = field1 inside my update statement. And I don't think altering the table to add a temporary column is my best best either.
