• State Machine WF: Issues with workflow termination

  Hello, We have a state machine workflow for maintaining the state of an application submitted by a user. One of the issues I am having is related to workflow termination. In one of the states, I had a bug. When the application reached that state, it threw an exception and as a result, the terminate event of the workflow was called and the particular workflow instance got removed from the persistence database. So I am not able to load that workflow instance anymore. I would have hoped, if there is an error in one of the states, an exception would be thrown(so that we know what the issue is), yet the entire workflow instance should not disappear. Can the fault handler activity ensure that the workflow does not terminate. Also, is there a way, when the terminate event is called, the instances do not get removed from the persistence store. Thanks for any help/suggestions.

• Very simple Error handling with NServiceBus

  hey guys, here's a simple scenario NServiceBus Client/Server setup. The "Message" is a custom Class I wrote. The Client sends a request message. The Server receives the message, and the server does this: Bus.Reply(new UserDataResponseMessage { ID = Guid.NewGuid(), Response = users }); Then nothing. The Client never receives a response. Exception: By trawling through the log4net NServiceBus logs I find an exception, and it turns out that my customs class "users" is not marked as Serializable. Ok, how does one got about "throwing" or "handling" that kind of error? NServiceBus seems to promote the idea of not handling errors, but in this scenario its obvious to see some kind of "throw" would have saved a lot of time. How do I handle such exceptions, where do they occur, where do they go?

  Hi I would like receive an event where messageReceived does not get called within an expected time. • libcurl .NET does not want to work on Win64

  I wrote multi-threaded FTP uploader on C#.NET using libcurl.NET. Everything works fine on my machine, but when I give application (exe + libcurl.dll + 2 libcurl C# binding DLLs) to my friend who is running Win64, application crashes. After adding exception catcher to whole Main() function, I was able to get readable error message: "An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format (Exception from HRESULT = 0x8007000b)" After googling for a while, I found an advice to enable unmanaged code in my project settings. I've recompiled my application and LibCurlNet.dll with this flag set but it did not help. What can cause such problem?

• Invalid UTF-8 for Postgres, Perl thinks they're ok

  I'm running perl 5.10.0 and Postgres 8.4.3, and strings into a database, which is behind a DBIx::Class. These strings should be in UTF-8, and therefore my database is running in UTF-8. Unfortunatly some of these strings are bad, containing malformed UTF-8, so when I run it I'm getting an exception DBI Exception: DBD::Pg::st execute failed: ERROR: invalid byte sequence for encoding "UTF8": 0xb5 I thought that I could simply ignore the invalid ones, and worry about the malformed UTF-8 later, so using this code, it should flag & ignore the bad titles. if(not utf8::valid($title)){ $title="Invalid UTF-8"; } $data->title($title); $data->update(); However perl seems to think that the strings are valid, but it still throws the exceptions. How can I get perl to detect the bad UTF-8?

• android app working on simulator but not on phone

  i have this app that i developed and it works great on the simulator with no errors what so ever. but the moment i try to run the same on the phone for testing, the app crashes stating filenotfoundexception. it says the file /res/drawable/divider_horizontal.9.png is missing. but actually speaking, i have never referenced that file through my code. i believe its a system/os file that is unavailable. i have a custom list view, i guess its the divider there... could somebody please suggest what is wrong here. i believe this is a similar issue discussed here..but i am unable to make   How can I make my client treat 404 Error correctly? Right now it catches a general exception... My WCF Server uses WebOperationContext.Current.OutgoingResponse.SetStatusAsNotFound(); To return a 404 Error code however my WCF client interperts it as an EndPointNotFoundException There was no endpoint listening at http://myUrl that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details. The inner exception is WebException "The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.

• iPhone Settings app and keyboard control?

  So I'm putting my app's preference settings into the Settings app. One of the settings is an edit text field (PSTextFieldSpecifier). When touched, the keyboard dutifully appears, I can make the edits, but when I press Return....nothing. Well, the editing is completed, but the keyboard remains. I see no way to make the keyboard go away. I also notice this same behavior in other Settings panes, including those from Apple. Do I assume correctly that this is just standard behavior and I need to just accept the fact that my Settings table has now been reduced to half size, and just deal? Furthermore, I gather there is no approved way to have a "rich" child pane display, such as that seen in Settings-General-About-Legal? Or a way to do what appears to be a -presentModalViewController, a la Settings-General-Passcode Lock?

• CRM 2011 XAML Workflows in VS 2012

  I'm writing this knowing there's another topic like this to be found here the answer provided however does not make much sense to me and whatever I tried doesn't seem to work so I'm seeking clarification. The situation is as follows: * New CRM 2011 toolkit solution * New project added for Xaml workflow * Adding CRM "Workflow" activity causes error The error: It shows a redbox "Could not generate view for Workflow" The Exception: System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. --- System.IO.IOException: Cannot locate resource 'workflowdesigner.xaml' I have VS 2012 SP2 with the latest (June) CRM SDK Toolkit installed. I did a clean install of the toolkit so it's not "upgraded" to prevent any old assemblies being referenced. I tried the things from the referenced question and moved the assemblies over and also re-referenced the latest assemblies to make sure everything works fine. I also tried downloading a workflow XAML created in CRM and opening but it gives the same error. I also opened the "example" workflow XAML solution in the SDK, again same result.

I have developed a win mobile (v5.0) application and I use ONLY 1 database SQLITE with these references: System.Data.SQLite.dll (assembly version & product version : 1.0.65.0); SQLite.Interop.065.DLL (product version : 1.0 and is a c++ lib for first dll ). After 5 weeks of using of this application, I get today a weird exception and I dont understand what it is? What`s wrong? Anyone know about this to explain me please? By the way : until now I delevoped 3-4 applications (1 year ago )using these references and everything worked fine.

• Problem creating ObjectContext from different project inside solution.

  I have two projects in my Solution. One implements my business logic and has defined entity model of entity framework. When I want to work with classes defined within this project from another project I have some problems in runtime. Actually, the most concerning thing is why I can not instantiate my, so called, TicketEntities(ObjectContext) object from other projects? when I catch following exception: The specified named connection is either not found in the configuration, not intended to be used with the EntityClient provider, or not valid. I found out it's brake at: public partial class TicketEntities : global::System.Data.Objects.ObjectContext { public TicketEntities() : base("name=TicketEntities", "TicketEntities") { this.OnContextCreated(); } with exception: Unable to load the specified metadata resource. Just to remind you everthing works fine from orginal project.

• UIPopoverController gesture handling in UISplitViewController for iOS 5.1 and below

  I've (along with many others) have noticed that Apple changed the appearance of the popover controller to use a "slider" window rather than the usual "popover" tableview that I've used. While I'm okay with the new appearance, like others I'm having issues with the swipe gesture that is introduced: iOS 5.1 swipe gesture hijacked by UISplitViewController - how to avoid? The fix for this seems to be to set the split view controller method "presentWithGesture" to "NO."   Dear all, I've been working in this small piece of code that seems trivial but still i cannot really see where is the problem. My functions does a pretty simple thing. Opens a file, copy its contents, replace a string inside and copy it back to the original file (a simple search and replace inside a text file then). I didn't really know how to do that as I'm adding lines to the original file, so i just create a copy of the file, (file.temp) copy also a backup (file.temp) then delete the original file(file) and copy the file.temp to file. I get an exception while doing the delete of the file.   I am using WCF REST service (GET method) to retrieve my EF4 POCOs. The service seem to work just fine. When I query the uri in my browser I get the results as expected. In my client application I am trying to use WCF REST Starter Kit's HTTPExtension method - ReadAsDataContract() to convert the result back into my POCO. This works fine when the POCO's navigation property is a single object of related POCO. The problem is when the navigation property is a collection of related POCOs. The ReadAsDataContract() method throws an exception with message "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." Below are my POCOs.   Hi I have a webservices running on a server, which converts word document into pdf using word automation. I have given a windows network user account in the identity tab on the MS Office word component using the DCOMCNFG.exe. I am getting below mentioned error Exception Message: The message filter indicated that the application is busy. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8001010A (RPC_E_SERVERCALL_RETRYLATER)) But, if I Remote Desktop into that server using the account mentioned in the components identity tab, then it works fine. If I logoff from that server then its giving the above error. Anyone got any idea!! Many thanks in advance

  Consider the following method signature: public static bool TryGetPolls(out List<Poll> polls, out string errorMessage) This method performs the following: accesses the database to generate a list of Poll objects. returns true if it was success and errorMessage will be an empty string returns false if it was not successful and errorMessage will contain an exception message. Is this good style? Update: Lets say i do use the following method signature: public static List<Poll> GetPolls() and in that method, it doesn't catch any exceptions (so i depend the caller to catch exceptions). How do i dispose and close all the objects that is in the scope of that method? As soon as an exception is thrown, the code that closes and disposes objects in the method is no longer reachable.

One of the methods has the following signature, from SDK: long FindMultipleFaces( IUnknown* pIDibImage, VARIANTARG* FacePositionArray ); Parameters: pIDibImage[in] - The image to search. FacePositionArray[out]- The array of FacePosition2 objects into which face information is placed. This array is in a safe array (VARIANT) of type VT_UNKNOWN. The size of the array dictates the maximum number of faces for which to search. which translates into the following C# method signature (from metadata): int FindMultipleFaces(object pIDibImage, ref object pIFacePositions); Being optimistic I call it the following way but get an exception that the memory is corrupt. The exception is thrown only when a face is present in the image.   Hi, I'm facing currently a problem regarding Subsonic configuration. What I want to achieve is using subsonic data access in a System.Web.UI.Design.ControlDesigner class. This class is hosted in Visual Studio Environment and enables design time operations on the attached System.Web.UI.WebControls.Control. The only problem is SubSonic seems always looking for SubSonicSection in the application configuration regardless passing connection string to it. The relevant code snippet: using (SharedDbConnectionScope dbScope = new SharedDbConnectionScope(new SqlDataProvider(), ConnectionString)) { Table1 _table1 = new Select().From<..().Where(...).IsEqualTo(...).ExecuteSingle<...>(); Throws exception on ExecuteSingle() method (configuration section was not found) while using (SharedDbConnectionScope dbScope = new SharedDbConnectionScope(ConnectionString)) { Throws exception on new SharedDbConnectionScope() (configuration section was not found) So the question is: Is there any way to pass the settings runtime to bypass the configuration section lookup as I don't want to add any subsonic specific configuration to devenv.configuration Thanks
