System Center 2012 VMM UI is very slow

I've recently setup system center 2012 a new server 2008 r2 server which I'm using for virtual machines. Everything seems to be working fine, and the virtual machines are nice and fast. But the Virtual Machine Manager interface is always excruciatingly slow. Sometimes taking up to 15 seconds moving between screens. It's very frustrating trying to use it when a task that just involves a couple clicks ends up taking several minutes. Pages that have a lot of form fields seem to take the longest to load - such as the page to change hardware settings of a virtual machine. Is this just normal performance for VMM? If not, where can I look to find what is slowing it down. Nothing else on the system seems to suffer. I can load and use Hyper-V manager with no noticable slowness. Even programs like event viewer that are usually rather slow seem to load fairly fast. Only the system center programs seem slow. Server is a Dell R710, 2x16 core opteron 6274 processors, 96GB RAM. OS drive is 2x500GB 7.2k RPM SAS drives in RAID1 (opted for the less expensive 7.2k drives since pretty much everything is stored on the SAN). Am I just being impatient? Does anyone else use VMM 2012 and find it slow?

Manipulating the case of the build macros in Visual Studio: $(TargetDir)

I've come across a weird problem today in Visual Studio 2005. If I create a new configuration "NewConfiguration" for one of my projects. The output directory referred to by the project in $(TargetDir) is "/path/to/build/area/newconfiguration". Note the loss of capital letters, I'd expect it to be in "/path/to/build/area/NewConfiguration". In another project that I created yesterday, the capital letters are there. Normally this would be a problem, but it's part of a fairly complicated build system where some of it's on unix and we need to worry about case sensitive filename. Does anyone know where the source string for the Visual Studio macros like $(TargetDir) are stored so that I can get the case to be consistent and match what we need for our build system?

How to define 'Attached property' as 'SelectedValuePath' in ComboBox?

Hi, I have a problem with binding in ComboBox. I'd like to bind ComboBox items to ListView columns and as a selected value return value of attached property defined on the selected column. In example bellow you can see working sample that displays width of selected column. Spring 3 MVC : problem with form:errors and bindingresult

Hi, I want to validate my inputs but i can't make it work : nothing appear on the page. My project is in java 5, so no JSR303 (@Valid). My only solution, if i'm not mistaken, is to use BindingResult. I'm getting started with WPF and trying to get my head around connecting data to the UI. I've managed to connect to a class without any issues, but what I really want to do is connect to a property of the main window. Zend Framework on a Shared Host

I am trying to push my first ZF project to my shared hosting provider. I have done a lot of testing on my home server and everything is working great. My issue is that I do not know how to set up my .htaccess files on the shared hosting provider to make it work correctly. The ZF documentation says to configure my Apache config VirtualServer DocumentRoot to /whatever/path/project-folder/public, but I don't have that kind of access. How do I get around this? I have seen http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1115547/zend-framework-on-shared-hosting but none of those solutions have worked for me. My application path looks like this / - .htaccess - /application ... - /public -- .htaccess -- index.php -- ... ... dynamic 404.jsp using struts

I would like to display an intelligent 404 page with some application data. Currently, there is a 'dumb' jsp, so I just forward to the view and I am done with it. But now I guess I really need to forward to an action so that I can set some more data to display on the error.jsp. How do I do it through configuration via struts-config? I need congifuration because I do not want to touch any individual files that might be forwarding to the existing view. I tried doing the fol, but I get an error and I dont see anything in the log. Data Warehouse: One Database or many?

At my new company, they keep all data associated with the data warehouse, including import, staging, audit, dimension and fact tables, together in the same physical database. I've been a database developer for a number of years now and this consolidation of function and form seems counter to everything I know. It seems to make security, backup/restore and performance management issues more manually intensive. Is this something that is done in the industry? Are there substantial reasons for doing or not doing it? The platform is Netezza. The size is in terabytes, hundreds of millions of rows. What I'm looking to get from answers to this question is a solid understanding of how right or wrong this path is. From your experience, what are the issues I should be focused on arguing if this is a path that will cause trouble for us down the road. If it is no big deal, then I'd like to know that as well.

golang dynamically parsing files

For parsing files i have setup a variable for template.ParseFiles and i currently have to manually set each file. Two things: How would i be able to walk through a main folder and a multitude of subfolders and automatically add them to ParseFiles so i dont have to manually add each file individually? Once the collection is used via foreach cycle, it should return the full path created by concatenating with "baseDirectory". Is there a variable I could use to identify the project directory at the command line options in the

In Visual Studio 2008 when you go to properties of a project (an ASP.NET MVC one at least) you have the option to run an external program. There are three parts for it: the path to the program, the command line options, the working directory. I need to pass the root of my web application as a command line argument. I don't want to hardcode the path in my machine in that directory. Is there some sort of (environment) variable I could use? Background: I'm trying to run UltiDev Cassini because VS' Cassini is 32bit only. I think this is the right way to run it, is it?

How to read an image from disk and block until its read?

I'm loading 5 images from disk but I want the 1st image I read to show as soon as possible. Right now I do UIImage *img = [UIImage imageWithContentsOfFile:path]; in a for loop but since imageWithContentsOfFile:path isn't blocking all 5 images wind up getting read from disk before the first one will appear (because they're all using up I/O). I confirmed this by just load one and it appeared on screen faster than if I load all 5. I'd like to load the 1st image and block until its fully read and shown before loading the next 4 or load the 1st one and be notified when its done before loading the next 4 but I can't figure out a way to do it. None of the 'WithContentsOfFile' methods for data or image block and they don't notify or have delegate methods. Any suggestions? Thanks

How to determine Windows Java installation location

I'm trying to dynamically run a .jar from a C# assembly (using Process.Start(info)). Now, from a console application I am able to just run: ProcessStartInfo info = new ProcessStartInfo("java", "-jar somerandom.jar"); In an assembly, however, I keep getting a Win32Exception of "The system cannot find the file specified" and have to change the line to the full path of Java like so: ProcessStartInfo info = new ProcessStartInfo("C:\\Program Files\\Java\\jre6\\bin\\java.exe", "-jar somerandom.jar"); This obviously won't do. I need a way to dynamically (but declaratively) determine the installed location of Java. I started thinking of looking to the registry, but when I go there I noticed that there were specific keys for the versions and that they could not even be guaranteed to be numeric (e.g. "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment\1.6" and "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JavaSoft\Java Runtime Environment\1.6.0_20"). What would be the most reliable "long-haul" solution to finding the most up-to-date java.exe path from a C# application? Thanks much in advance.

Run batch file when argument contains quotes and spaces (from .NET framework)

I have a bat file which sets some environment variables, and then executes a command on the command line. I want to replace the hard coded command with one passed in via a parameter. So: :: Set up the required environment SET some_var=a SET another_var=b CALL some.bat :: Now call the command passed into this batch file %1 The problem is that the command is complex, and doesn't escape cleanly. It looks like this: an.exe -p="path with spaces" -t="some text" -f="another path with spaces" I'm trying to call the .bat from a .NET framework app, using: Dim cmd as String = "the cmd" System.Diagnostics.Process.Start( thebat.exe, cmd ) but I can't seem to get the escapes to work correctly. Can someone tell me how the string cmd should be entetered to get the command passed into the bat file as an argument correctly?

What should be proper location for sqlit3 database file?

Hi, Everyone: I'm using a sqlite3 database to store app's data. Instead of building a database within program, I introduced an existing db file: 'abc.sqlite' into my project and put it under my 'Resources' folder. So, I think this db file should be inside of 'bundle', so at my init function, I used following statement to read it out: NSString *path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"abc" ofType:"sqlite"]; if(sqlite3_open([path UTF8String], &database) != SQLITE_OK) ... It's ok that this db can be opened and data can be retrieved from it. BUT, someone told me that it's better to copy this db file into user folder: such as 'Document'. So, my question is: is it ok to use this db from main bundle directly or copy it to user folder then use that copy. Which is better? Thank you very much!

Why does copying a file using FileInfo.CopyTo creates the destination copied file as readonly ?

I have two folders in my asp.net web application in which I create new folders programmaticaly. The entire solution is under VSS source control. I was not able to manipulate these two folders programmably. For that, I gave {MACHINE}\ASPNET user account full control over these two folders. Still, the "access denied to the path" error was coming. I saw that these entire folders were marked readonly. I tried to uncheck Readonly from explorer but not successfull, readonly check does not get removed. Also, if I copy files using method, the destinationn copied file becomes readonly. I have also tried File.SetAttributes(path,FileAttributes.Normal); but no success. How can I make the copied file not READONLY ?
