    Good day! Despite the fact LINQ2SQL and ADO.NET Entity Framework exists there were situations when I need to revert to plain old DataSet (not typed) and friends. While writing SQL for SqlCommand: Is it needed to quote field and table names with []? Is it good to prefix table names with [dbo] I use to use this syntax: SqlCommand command = new SqlCommand("SELECT [Field1], [Field2] FROM [dbo].[TableName]", connection); May be there is a better way?   • Converting MS Word Documents to PDF in ASP.NET

    Similar questions have been asked, but nothing exactly like mine, so here goes. We have a collection of Microsoft Word documents on an ASP.NET web server with merge fields whose values are filled in as a result of user form submissions. After the field merge, the server must convert the document to PDF and stream it down to the browser. Our first inclination was to use the Visual Studio Tools for Office API; however, we ran into this warning from Microsoft: Microsoft does not currently recommend, and does not support, Automation of Microsoft Office applications from any unattended, non-interactive client application or component (including ASP, ASP.NET, DCOM, and NT Services), because Office may exhibit unstable behavior and/or deadlock when Office is run in this environment. It looks like the field manipulation can be done using the Open XML SDK, but what's the best way to convert Word 2007 documents to PDF without opening Word? The optimal solution would be low-cost, scalable, have a low memory footprint, be easy to deploy, and have a .NET API.

  • MOSS search crawl fails with "Access is denied ..."

    Recently the search crawler stopped working on my MOSS installation. The message in the crawl log is Access is denied. Check that the Default Content Access Account has access to this content, or add a crawl rule to crawl this content. (The item was deleted because it was either not found or the crawler was denied access to it.) The default content account is an admin on the site collection that I am trying to crawl. Almost every result for this error on Google tells me to add the DisableLoobackCheck registry key with a value of 1. I have done this and rebooted and the error continues. The "Do not allow Basic Authentication" checkbox in my crawl rule screen is unchecked. Is there anything else that could be causing this error? Something with file system or database permissions maybe?

    Hello @all following issue, I configure a DNS Zone "location.domain.tld" for my internal Network and it works well, but now I want to manage the domain.tld for my internal Network, but the domain.tld is managed by an external DNS Provider. In location.domain.tld there are all Clients and Servers for internal use only (with local IPs) all these clients resolve the global Mailserver (for example) over his external Address but now i want to catch single Domainnames and resolve it on my own way. But i did not find a way to solve this issue. Any Ideas? Regards Rene

  • How to remove a specific category on a selected mail in Outlook 2003 with Macro?

    Hi, I am trying to transform my Outlook2003 into the closest thing to gmail. I started to use categories, which are pretty similar to labels in gmail. I can assign categories automatically with rules, and I can add categories manually. I have also created "search folders", that show all mails with a given category, if they are not in the Deleted Items or Sent Items folders. This part is almost like the Label views in gmail. Two things are missing basically, which should be done with macros (VBA to be precise) which I'm totally inexperienced with. So hence my questions: -Can someone show me a macro to remove the category "Inbox"? That would act exactly like the Archive button in gmail. In fact I want to assign this macro to a toolbar button and call it Archive. I have a rule that adds the Inbox category to all incoming mail. As I said, I have a search folder displaying all mails categorized as Inbox, and I also have an All Mail search folder, that displays all messages regardless whether they have the Inbox category. Exactly like gmail, just the easy archiving is missing. -Can someone show me a macro that would delete the selected mail/mails and also would remove the Inbox category before deletion? I would replace the default delete button with this macro. (Somewhat less important, as in my search folders I can filter messages that are physically placed in the Deleted Items folder, but it would be more elegant not to have mails categorized as Inbox in the trash.     I can set up the following: mydomain.com (ex m.com) CNAME points to: mysubdomain.hostingprovider.com (ex s1.h.com) subdomain.mydomain.com (ex s2.m.com) CNAME points to: www.anotherdomain.com (ex a.com) There are files in www.anotherdomain.com/mysubfolder/ that I want mydomain.com to be able to access through the subdomain, but I don't want any of the files on the subdomain to be accessable directly. I have full direct access (ftp) to mydomain.com, but I have opono direct access to www.anotherdomain.com (online booking & shopping cart). Is there anyway to make it so access to subdomain.mydomain.com can only be accessed by mydomain.com?

  • Contains performs MUCH slower with variable vs constant string MS SQL Server

    For some unknown reason I'm running into a problem when passing a variable to a full text search stored procedure performs many times slower than executing the same statement with a constant value. Any idea why and how can that be avoided? This executes very fast: SELECT * FROM table WHERE CONTAINS (comments, '123') This executes very slowly and times out: DECLARE @SearchTerm nvarchar(30) SET @SearchTerm = '123' SET @SearchTerm = '"' + @SearchTerm + '"' SELECT * FROM table WHERE CONTAINS (comments, @SearchTerm) Does this make any sense???

  • Running Endpoint locally could not provide access to API explorer when HTTP proxy is enabled

    I'm using Android Studio(0.5.8) on Window7 x64 for developing my Android App with Google AppEngine backend. If my machine is having direct internet access and I launch backend locally (as DevApp Server) and access my API Endpoints through webbrowser (chrome) it is all working as expected. Accessing api explorer is also working fine from webbrowser. http://localhost:8080/_ah/api/explorer But if I have configured internet through http proxy (in Android Studio and also in webbrowser) then webbrowser displays initial page of backend but can't access endpoint api explorer. And deploying appbackend in Google AppEngine also fails with errors. gradlew backend:appengineUpdate Same is working fine if direct internet access is available (not via http proxy). How can we make it work with http proxy also? Any help is appreciated, Thanks.

    I just requested a hotfix from support.microsoft.com and put in my email address, but I haven't received the email yet. The splash page I got after I requested the hotfix said: Hotfix Confirmation We will send these hotfixes to the following e-mail address: (my correct email address) Usually, our hotfix e-mail is delivered to you within five minutes. However, sometimes unforeseen issues in e-mail delivery systems may cause delays. We will send the e-mail from the “[email protected]” e-mail account. If you use an e-mail filter or a SPAM blocker, we recommend that you add “[email protected]” or the “microsoft.com” domain to your safe senders list. (The safe senders list is also known as a whitelist or an approved senders list.) This will help prevent our e-mail from going into your junk e-mail folder or being automatically deleted. I'm sure that the email is not getting caught in a spam catcher. How long does it normally take to get one of these hotfixes? Am I waiting for some human to approve it, or something? Should I just give up and try to get the file I need some other way? (Update: Replaced "[email protected]" with "(my correct email address)" to resolve Martín Marconcini's ambiguity.)

  • What are the replacement options for an IDE hard disk for a DOS based system?

    I have got a few "embedded" systems running MSDOS 6.2 which boot from and store data to IDE hard disks. Since these drives are nearing their end of life, the question arises how we can replace them. The requirements are: DOS must be able to install and boot from these drives. They must be able to sustain heavy (mostly) write access. If possible, they should be able to survive moderate vibrations (not too bad since the current hard disks have survived several years of that) I considered the following options so far: other ide hard drives: Unfortunately modern IDE drives are too large so DOS cannot boot from them even if I create small partitions. Older IDE drives are just that: old, so they are probably not the most reliable ones any more. SSDs: There are a few SSDs with IDE interface available. I have not yet tried them. Does anybody have any experience with them? They look like the ideal replacement provided that DOS can boot from them and that writing speed does not deteriorate too much (the old hard disks are no race cars either). Compact Flash: There are adapters for using CF with IDE controllers and they work fine. DOS can boot from them and they have no problems at all with vibrations. What I am not sure about is their durability. DOS uses FAT so some very few sectors are written every time the medium is being written to. IDE to SATA converters: I have no idea whether they are any good. Has anybody tried them? It might be an option to use one of these to connect an SATA SSD to the system. Are there any alternatives that I have missed? (We are working on replacing these systems, but it will still take a few years.)

  • MS SQL Server 2008 Stored Procedure Result as Column Default Value

    First of all, thank you guys. You always know how to direct me when I cant even find the words to explain what the heck im trying to do. The default values of the columns on a couple of my tables need to equal the result of some complicated calculations on other columns in other tables. My first thought is to simply have the column default value equal the result of a stored procedure. I would also have one or more of the parameters pulled from the columns in the calling table. I don't know the syntax of how to do it though, and any time the word "stored" and "procedure" land next to each other in google I'm flooded with info on Parameter default values and nothing relating to what I actually want. Half of that was more of a vent than a question...any ideas though? And plz plz dont say "Well, you could use an On-Insert Trigger to..."

  • MS Dev Studio 2005 Ignores Preprocessor directives during compile

    We just got a new developer and I'm trying to set him up with Dev Studio 2005 (The version we all use at this office), and we're running into a weird problem that I've never seen before. I have some code that works perfectly on my system, and he can't seem to get it compiled. We've tracked the issue down to his copy of dev studio ignoring the preprocessor directives. For example, in the project properties under C/C++|Preprocessor|Preprocessor Directives, I add DEFINE_ME. Which should translate to a /D"DEFINE_ME" for the compiler. And it does in my development environment, but it doesn't on his. I verified that when he checks out the code from the source repository, that he has the same version of the code I do. And if I look in his Project Properties, all of the directives are there. For some reason they're just not getting passed down to the compiler. Any Ideas?

  • What's the correct way to hide/prevent access to wp-admin

    I'm dealing with this matter since a while, I have read a ton of articles and stuff out there but I couldn't find a place that shows the RIGHT way, standard, correct, whatever you like to call it, to prevent access to my wp-admin or wp-login.php On all Wordpress sites I see (the well made ones) you will never see anything if you type thesite.com/wp-admin As I could see, one way to do this is by restricting the access to that folder by creating an .htaccess file and restrict by IP the access to the folder. Seems to be the "cleanest" way to do. What I'm not sure about it is that I have a dynamic address provided by my ISP, so on a certain time my IP will change, that will force me to also change the .htaccess to my new address, I don't see that practical. I can set a range also, but by doing that I will also authorize access to all people within that range of IPs (other clients of my ISP for example). I'm then struggling to find the best/standard way to do this. Anyone can help me? Thanks
