  • Vlc Player not opening

    For the last few days, my vlc player is not responding at all, when i try to double click any file or even run vlc without any file, it just doesn't open up. I tried to open it through terminal and it was working fine but there were no option coming on vlc screen and also if i close the terminal, vlc closes automatically. I can't figure how to make vlc back to its original way so that i can access any file through vlc. Any help will be appreciated..

  • revived closed tab in chrome doesn't work properly, but works correctly in IE and Firefox

    I'm working on a website where information is loaded from a calendar. If a user clicks on a link on the calendar, it displays information about that link. If I close that page, and then re-open it, it works properly on both IE and Firefox, but if I open it in chrome, and click on another item on the calendar it instead errors out. Is there a large difference in how chrome brings back tabs from how IE or Firefox do that would cause this?

    While working on the system suddenly if i open a random file or start browsing and on other random moments the system starts hanging or start responding slowly. In this situation, i can able to open the virtual console using the Ctrl + Alt + F1-F6 and type the top and list the processes. Due to urgency, i will kill the long running processes or the over memory utilizing process to recover the screen back. Can anyone give me a permanent fix.!

    Unity is misbehaving after installing GLX Dock - HUD does not open with GLX Dock turned off and there are ugly shadows in the panel,three control buttons (close,minimise,maximise) and "Ubuntu Desktop" label when there are no apps running.I have to click the top panel to get the super key to open the dash.     How can I restart Gnome Shell after a crash? Alt+F2 and restart won't work as the prompt crashed with the shell. Since windows focus is gone along with the shell as well, I can't type gnome-shell --replace in a terminal, either. The Ctr+Alt+F1 command line can't open the X display. So I'm left with killing X, thus loosing all open applications. Is there a keyboard shortcut for restarting Gnome Shell?

  • Empathy minimizing automatically

    I am able to login into empathy, but the thing is whenever i am clicking over it from the right top task bar so that I could open it and see who all are online, it opens just for a second and minimises automatically. I am still logged in only, no issues with that , but i am not able to open the client at all, its like i am restricted tot he panel and its notifications only whenever someone sends me a message. so can anyone suggest a method via which I can stop this automation of empathy?

Then, I saved the project, copied the project folder into a pendrive, tried to 'Open Project' in mate's laptop, using the same Java Netbeans IDE version. When I tried to open the frames, they displayed empty labels, without images. What went wrong?

    Psychonauts came in a neat file called psychonauts-linux-06042012-bin. The file system calls it an executable, but I can't find a way to execute it. Ubuntu suggested using "PyPar2" to open it like an archive, which made it into a bunch of .par2 files, but it then couldn't find anything else to open those. It seems that other people have been able to start the game, so what should I do differently?
