• Partitioning Windows 8.1 in order to have data partition first and system partitions at HDD end

  How can I have recovery partition at the HDD end? My aim is to have data partition installed on fastest sectors of my hard drive, as I don't really care if restoring operations are slow... During Windows installation, when I create a partition, I get immediately created EFI and recovery ones just before the actual data partition. EFI position is good, I want my PC boot fast, but I want to move partitions I don't care about speed. I've also considered GParted, but I think I'm not able to use it :P

  I want to run windows 8 as a guest os with virtualbox on some thinkpad (haven't bought one yet) running Ubuntu 12.04. Apart from virtualizing windows 8 (mostly just for use with the office suite app) my needs are very modest, I don't need much more than emacs and a browser. What I'd like to know is what kind of specs will be necessary to run windows 8 well as a vm, using the office apps. It would be a shame to waste money on overpowered hardware. Are there any official guidelines from oracle or windows on this? Would this lenovo x220, for example, be sufficiently strong? The specs below were taken from this review.   I dont want to encrypt my whole hard drive. But one app i ENJOY using stores my password in a not so secure way in the AppData folder. I would like to encrypt the folder. One note is the folder is inside my user/name directory. Maybe that will help or hinder the solution. I am fine with encrypting all of AppData if necessary. However i prefer not to encrypt C:\Users\NAME\ since it is heavily used by many apps. C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Local\APPNAME

  I want to represent a graph in Haskell in the following manner: For each node I want to store it's value and a list of adjacent nodes,the problem which i'm having difficulties with is that I want the adjacent nodes to be stored as references to other nodes. For example: I want node ny to be stored as („NY“ (l p)) where l and p are adjacent nodes,and not as („NY“ („London“ „Paris“)).   I have a dual boot with Windows 7 and Fedora. Though I can long into both without any problems, I am trying to log in to the linux account via the Windows account. Is that possible? Or, is it possible to access my university's linux server via telnet from home? I did so and got an error, with cold not connect to port 23 message. Also, since most of my mail accounts are on Windows, the passwords to which I have forgotten, I would prefer working on a ;remote' connection.

• Eclipse C++ on WinXP - Type `::iterator' has not been declared

  I'm new to C++/Eclipse. I'm trying to get it working to get a new perspective on a problem with a program I wrote in DevCPP. The program is simple and builds fine in DevCPP. In Eclipse, I get hundreds of errors like the one above. I assume the compiler can't see my include files. I've checked that the project settings - GCC C++ compiler - directories contains the location for my include files (D:\MinGW\include\c++\3.4.5). I've prowled around and tried to change 'Discovery Options' to 'GCC C++ Compiler' from 'GCC C Compiler' but it keeps changing back. I guess this is not the problem. Any help would be very welcome. I'm on a tight deadline with many interruptions and this is cracking me up.

• VMWare Player does not save changes in guest operating system

  I have installed VMWare Player in my Windows 7 Ultimate and I have added Ubuntu 12.10 in a virtual machine. The problem is that every time I power off the virtual machine everything is lost. I mean every program I install or folder i save or anything else is lost completely. And when I start the again the virtual machine is like newly installed. Is there an option to change this (strange) behaviour?

  I have a vector populated with objects: std::vector<Stuff*> stuffVector; and am trying to delete all elements of it using a cleanup function void CleanUp() { for (std::vector<Stuff*>::size_type i = 0 ; i < stuffVector.size() ; i++) { stuffVector.erase(stuffVector.begin()+i); } cout << stuffVector.size() << endl; if (stuffVector.size() == 0) cout << "Vector Emptied" << endl; } This always reports back with a size of however many objects are in the vector, and doesn't actually seem to delete anything at all. It's odd as a similar function works elsewhere to delete a specific object from the vector: void DestroyStuff() { if (stuffVector.size() > 1) { for (std::vector<Stuff*>::size_type i = 0 ; i < stuffVector.size() ; i++ ) { if(stuffVector[i]->CanDestroy()) { stuffVector.erase (stuffVector.begin()+i); } } } } The above works fine, but CleanUp() does not. Why might this be happening?
