  • Interacts with dialog/whiptail on early boot rcX.d stage?

    Hi buddies, I'm developing on Ubuntu based, actually I got one script in-charged on GUI(console) setup. It runs before another scripts (rcX.d) start. Currently, I installed this script on rc2.d and start earlier than other ones. But when run on real machine, I can't input any keystroke on "dialog --inputbox" or whiptail through shell script. Additionally, It runs well on my Virtual Machine (Virtual Box and Vmware), that's so strange! So, does anybody give some help or point me any clues for overcome this ? Thanks

  • How do I change the class of an object to a subclass of its current class in C++?

    I have an array of pointers to a base class, so that I can make those pointers point to (different) subclasses of the base class, but still interact with them. (really only a couple of methods which I made virtual and overloaded) I'm wondering if I can avoid using the pointers, and instead just make an array of the base class, but have some way to set the class to the subclass of my choosing. I know there must be something there specifying the class, as it needs to use that to look up the function pointer for virtual methods. By the way, the subclasses all have the same ivars and layout. Note: the design is actually based on using a template argument instead of a variable, due to performance increases, so really the abstract base class is just the interface for the subclasses, which are all the same except for their compiled code.     With c++, Is there a way to get a derived class to inherit its own static initializer? I am trying to do something like the following: class Base { public: class StaticInit { public: virtual StaticInit() =0; }; }; class Derived: public Base { public: virtual StaticInit::StaticInit() { //do something with the derived class } static StaticInit init; } static Derived::StaticInit init; it would also be nice if I didn't have to define the init var in each derived class. I am currently redefining the StaticInit internal class in each derived class but it seems redundant. Each derived class is a singleton, and I need the instance to be stored in a lookup table at program startup.

    Given the class': public abstract class AbstractEntity { public virtual Guid Id { get; private set; } } public class Entity { public virtual Guid Id { get; private set; } } And a PropertyInfo for the property 'Id'. When calling the method: PropertyInfo.GetAccessors() It returns both the get-method and the set-method when the class is not abstract (Entity), but only the get-method when the class is abstract (AbstractEntity). Why is this? And is there another way to get the set-method from a property with a private set?

    Hi all, I'm not very familiar with the many-to-many insertion process using Entity Framework 4, POCO. I have a blog with 3 tables: Post, Comment, and Tag. A Post can have many Tags and a Tag can be in many Posts. I'm thinking that I'll have a textbox where I can select multiple tags for that post (this part is already done), in my controller, I will check to see if the tag is already exists or not, if not, then I will insert the new tag. But I'm not even sure based on the models that I've created for EF, will they create a PostsTags table, or they are creating just a Tags and a Posts table and links between the two? How would I insert the new Post and set the tags to that post? Is it just newPost.Tags = Tags (where Tags are the one that got selected, do I even need to check to see if they already exists?), and then something like _post.Add(newPost);? Thanks.

    I am trying to do the following in Delphi 2010: TDataConverter = class abstract public function Convert<T>(const AData: T): string; virtual; abstract; end; However, I keep getting the following compiler error: E2533 Virtual, dynamic and message methods cannot have type parameters I don't quite understand the reason why I can't do this. I can do this in C# e.g. public abstract class DataConverter { public abstract string Convert<T>(T data); } Anyone know the reasoning behind this?

C++ is a great general-purpose language, but perhaps too general and feature-rich: multiple inheritance, operator overloading, manual memory management, templates, smart pointers, virtual destructors, legacy frameworks (think MFC), and I could go on.     Hi all, simple question regarding property value inheritance in UserControls. If i create a UserControl, it has some standard properties like Background, BorderBrush and BorderThickness. Within that UserControl i have a border. I want to know, if i dont specify any set value or binding for the property BorderBrush of that border, will it automatically inherit the value of BorderBrush from the parent control? Thanks!

It also works with enumerated types (discussed in Classes and Inheritance) and a few special classes that "wrap" certain primitive types: Character, Byte, Short, and Integer (discussed in Simple Data Objects ). There must be a good reason why the long primitive data type is not allowed. Anyone know what it is?

    Hi, I was thinking about a typical problem that is very JIT-able, but hard to approach with raw C. The scenario is setting up a series of function pointers that are going to be "composed" (as in maths function composition) once at runtime and then called lots and lots of times. Doing it the obvious way involves many virtual calls, that are expensive, and if there are enough nested functions to fill the CPU branch prediction table completely, then the performance with drop considerably. In a language like Lisp, I could probably process the code and substitute the "virtual" call by the actual contents of the functions and then call compile to have an optimized version, but that seems very hacky and error prone to do in C, and using C is a requirement for this problem ;-) So, do you know if there's a standard, portable and safe way to achieve this in C?     Hi, So i just started trying to develop a simple webpart today for a sharepoint foundation i put on a virtual machine. I have no previous experience with sharepoint whatsoever. As i cant run a sharepoint 2010 on my local machine for dev purposes i followed advices in this thread http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/sharepoint2010programming/thread/cda807f6-4edf-4efc-8e9b-4d446356c8ae to able to actually develop something (just the registry bit). I created the simple test web part (writes out "hi"), uploaded it to virtual machine, added it with add-spsolution and install-spsolution in powershell with success. When i do get-solution through powershell on my webpart it says deployed = true. What am i missing from here to get it to actually show up somewhere in the web interface so i can add it to a page?   • Linux fsck.ext3 says "Device or resource busy" although I did not mount the disk.

    I am running an ubuntu 8.04 server instance with a 8GB virtual disk on vmware 1.0.9. For disk maintenance I made a copy of the virtual disk (by making a copy of the 2 vmdk files of sda on the stopped vm on the host) and added it to the original vm. Now this vm has it's original virtual disk sda plus a 1:1 copy (sdd). There are 2 additional disk sdb and sdc which I ignore.) I would expect sdb not to be mounted when I start the vm. So I try tp do a ext2 fsck on sdd from the running vm, but it reports fsck reported that sdb was mounted. $ sudo fsck.ext3 -b 8193 /dev/sdd e2fsck 1.40.8 (13-Mar-2008) fsck.ext3: Device or resource busy while trying to open /dev/sdd Filesystem mounted or opened exclusively by another program? When a user with an email account on the system sends mail from outside the network, using the server as the relay, to addresses inside the network, the email is delivered.
