• changing ext4 journal data mode with remount?

  I'm tweaking ext4 file system for speed, one tweak at a time. First tweak is to change from "data=ordered" to "data=writeback". To test this, I execute "mount -n -o remount,data=ordered /" but I keep getting "mount: / not mounted already, or bad option". From lots of google'ing I found many questions about similar problems and one answer circa 2001+ext3 which says that you can't change the journal mode with remount. Is this limitation still current?

• Determining the health of a Cisco switch port?

  I've been chasing a packet-loss and network stability issue for a handful of end-users on an internal network for the past few days... These issues surfaced recently, however, the location was struck by lightning six weeks ago. I was seeing 5-10% packet loss between a stack of four Cisco 2960's and several PC's and phones on the other side of a 77-meter run. The PC's were run inline with the phones over a trunked link. We were seeing dropped calls and interruptions in client-server applications and Microsoft Exchange connectivity. I tried the usual troubleshooting steps remotely, having a local technician do the following during breaks in user and production activity: change cables between the wall jack and device. change patch cables between the patch panel and switch port(s). try different switch ports within the 2960 stack. change end-user devices with known-good equipment (new phones, different PC's). clear switch port interface counters and monitor incrementing errors closely. (Pastebin output of sh int) Pored over the device logs and Observium RRD graphs. No link up/down issues from the switch side. change power strips on the end-user side. test cable runs from the Cisco 2960 using test cable-diagnostics tdr int Gi4/0/9 (clean)* test cable runs with a Tripp-Lite cable tester. (clean) run diagnostics on the switch stack members. (clean) In the end, it took three changes of switch ports to find a stable solution. The only logical conclusion is that a few Cisco 2960 switch ports are bad or flaky... Not dead, but not consistent in behavior either. I'm not used to seeing individual ports die in this manner. What else can I test or check to determine if these devices are bad? Is it common for single ports to have problems, rather than a contiguous bank of ports?   I was using sandcastle to generate help for my project in visual studio 2008. When i change my project to visual studio 2010 and change the project .NET version to .NET 4.0 i got this problem with Sandcastel. I can't understand why sandcastel is using C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v3.5\MSBuild.exe and not C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0\MSBuild.exe thinking that i specified as framework version the v4.0.30319 Can anyone tell me how to resolve this issue?? • Override HTML Anchor Link Target inside iFrame

  We're calling an ad from an ad network to dynamically load an add using JavaScript. It makes an iFrame with the actual ad in it, a picture wrapped in an anchor tag with the target=_top. Is there a way from our page to change its target and capture the attempt to change our page. Also, our page is loaded in a C#.net program using a WebControl (I forget the actual control being used since it was a while ago). We can change the C# code but we really prefer not to because then we'd have to test it and everything. Is there a way to do this with JavaScript or JQuery?

• Preview man-page without installing package.

  Hi I've checked out some typical open source project which is using auto-tools. I want to hack a bit on this package, but I would also like to change something in the man-page of the package. The man-page source is found project-name/doc/project-name.1. I just made a small change, and now I want to preview that change, without having to actually do a make install of the project. How do I do that? I tried stuff like: man -M . 1 project-name But it does not work, neither does the various variations I have tried. This sounds like a simple problem, but I can't seem to find anything by googling on the problem, so I'm hoping someone here can help me out. Thanks.

  Using Synergy-plus-1.3.4 on Gentoo Linux kernel 2.6.36-tuxonice-r3. Using SHIFT+CAPS to change keyboard layout on BOTH server and client boxes. Works perfectly if change layout using attached keyboard. But when using synergy keyboard (moved mouse from server screen to client and changing with SHIFT+CAPS) it has no effect. Synergy is just amazing thing exception this small issue which I'm assured is solvable. Please, gimme some hint.

• Upgrading to IIS7 stopped Firefox from receiving cookies?

  Our website has been using IIS6 for a long time. We test on IE8, Firefox, and Chrome. All browsers worked fine. We recently did an upgrade to IIS7, and Chrome and IE8 continue to work normally, but Firefox appears to be unable to get the ASP session cookie. As a result, when our code checks the Session[] object, we see nothing, we think the user has logged out, and the site resets your session. Does anyone know why upgrading to IIS7 would cause this behavior in Firefox? We've: 1) Reverted our application pool back to classic mode (no change); 2) Added a dummy value in the Global.asax object (no change); and 3) changed the web.config file from "authentication cookieless=autodetect" to "cookieless=usercookie" and back (no change).

An example would be: projectname.vcproj.domainname.username.user to projectname.vcproj.otherdomainname.username.user I've tried using the if loop to list the directory and set the delimiter to a period but it doesn't seem to be able to identify and change it. I'm using examples of renaming .txt files but it doesn't seem to work, any suggestions?

So I'm trying to change it like this: <propertyregex property="cluster.path" input="${cluster.path}" regexp="nbplatform.active.dir" replace="xplatform.base" global="true" override="true"/> The stuff is replaced but I get: cluster.path= ${xplatform.base}/harness\: ${xplatform.base}/platform\: ${xplatform.base}/nb This brakes logic down the line not controlled by me (Netbeans) that uses the ':' as delimiter. Any idea?

• HP to Cisco spanning tree root flapping

  Per a recent question I recently configured both my HP (2x 2900) and Cisco (1x 3750) hardware to use MSTP for interoperability. I thought this was functional until I applied the change to the third device (HP switch 1 below) at which time the spanning tree root started flapping causing performance issues (5% packet loss) between my two HP switches. I'm not sure why. HP Switch 1 A4 connected to Cisco 1/0/1. HP Switch 2 B2 connected to Cisco 2/0/1. HP Switch 1 A2 connected to HP Switch 2 A1. I'd prefer the Cisco stack to act as the root. EDIT: There is one specific line - 'spanning-tree 1 path-cost 500000' in the HP switch 2 that I didn't add and was preexisting. I'm not sure if it could have the kind of impact that I'm describing. I'm more a security and monitoring guy then networking. EDIT 2: I'm starting to believe the problem lies in the fact that the value for my MST 0 instance on the Cisco is still at the default 32768. I worked up a diagram: This is based on every show command I could find for STP. I'll make this change after hours and see if it helps.   Hi, I've been looking for some time now.. Is is possible to pass easing function as variable in AS3? eg. TweenLite.to(mcDelimiter, resizeTween, { x:(stageWidthHalf-(initStageWidthHalf-mcDelimiteri_X)), ease:Elastic.easeOut } ); TweenLite.to(mcBody, resizeTween, { x:(stageWidthHalf-(initStageWidthHalf-mcBody_X)), ease:Elastic.easeOut } ); ... now if I at some point want to change "Elastic.easeOut" to something else I would have to change it at multiple parts of the code.. Can it be done so I just pass it as a variable and then if I want to change it, do it only on one place?   I am trying to populate a drop down and found this page, which provides part of the solution: http://www.bizsupportonline.net/infopath2007/programmatically-fill-populate-drop-down-list-box-infopath-2007.htm I got this to work, but if players.xml was changed, the drop down list didn't reflect it. I had to rename the file and add the new file as my secondary data source to see the change. For my purposes, the xml file that is used to populate the drop down box would need to be created anew. Each time the form is loaded, I programatically create a new xml file, but the drop down doesn't pick up the new file, even though I have named it as the secondary data source. It seems that once you set a file to be your secondary data source, it takes a snapshot of that file at the time the source was added as a secondary data source and if you change the file, you must rename and add it as your secondary source. How do I populate a drop down box from an XML file such that if the XML file changes, the contents of the drop down change accordingly?

  In my winform app in VB.NET I want to use the localization option. But i have a few questions/problems. I'm using a menu strip to select an other language. But it seems that is doesn't change my menustip text to my selected language. It does change my labels, buttons, and textboxes but menu strips don't seem to change when I choose another language. Also is it possible to get those resx files such as MyForm.fr-FR.resx compiled so it isn't an external file outside my app? Or to get those files in an Language folder at the same location of my app, so i don't have all those fr-FR, nl-Nl folders in the same location as my program?

• How can I hot deploy using the glassfish adapter in Eclipse

  Has anyone gotten the glassfish v3 adapter to work with Eclipse without restarting every time there's a code change? I tried to set this up but the adapter "republishes" every time I change any file, which is very annoying. It takes up to 3 minutes and locks up my machine for a second. I must remember to constantly stop the adapter before making any changes. I'd settle for just disabling this "feature", but even if I uncheck "publish change immediately" this behavior still happens. I'm using the latest version of the glassfish adapter and tried with eclipse 3.5 and the 3.6 milestone builds.... What setup is everyone using if you have glassfish v3 as your server? Is there any way to actually get the hot deploy feature to work correctly?

• JW Player: cross-browser "display:none" player behavior

  Is there a simple, upfront method to have FF and IE treat hidden JW Players the same? I am placing different instances of the player dynamically in jQuery generated tabs. In effect, switching tabs hides the parent div of each player. In FireFox, the tab switch and accompanying "display" change stops the player. This doesn't happen in IE. I would like it to. What is the easiest way to have both browsers act the same? I am hoping for a CSS/HTML solution, either thorough the way the players are embedded or a style rule Otherwise I suppose I will need to add an item listener that compares the currently selected tab id to currently active players... but I'd rather not go that route. Thanks for your tips! EDIT: So, I'd rather be able to change the player CSS or markup on tab change than send stop events to all the players but the player in the currently active tab.

  I'm a very newbie webpage builder, currently working on creating a website that needs to change link colours according to the destination page. The links will be sorted into different classes (e.g. good, bad, neutral) by certain user input criteria-- e.g. links with content the user would find of interest is colored blue, stuff that the user (presumably) doesn't want to see is colored as normal text, etc. I reckon I need a way to parse the webpage for links to the content (stored in MySQL database), change the colors for all the links on the page (so I need to be able to change the link classes in the HTML as well) before outputting the adapted page to the user. I read that regex is not a good way to find those links-- so should I use a library, and if so, is html5lib good for what I'm doing?

• iPhone SDK: Interface Builder label font, only shows when editing label

  I have tried this on a few installations of the 3.1.3 SDK. When I add a label to my view, I would like to change the font to something like Futura. I know how to change the font, but, for some reason, it does not show that it is changed. ONLY when I edit the label by double clicking, do I see my new font. And, this is the only time that I do get to see the new font, is when editing the label. Why does this happen? How can I change the font of my labels, and have it show up?
